As Ace walked through the doors, he would find himself in a rather strange place. It was a large hallway, with large pillars holding up a curved ceiling. The hallway was lined with skulls, a bright golden glow emanating from behind the eye sockets which brightly illuminated the room. The floor seemed to be made from carved marble, and the walls forged from gold. The entire scene would have been intimidating, had it not been for the crayon scribbles that covered every surface in sight. Even the ceiling was covered in scribbles, as if the entire place had been attacked by a magical flying toddler. But more interestingly would be the end of the corridor, which he slowly approached.
There, the God Emperor sat. A man easily 2 meters tall, covered in a layer of muscle. His body seemed to be sculpted from stone, and his eyes looked like they were made of fire as he looked down on the human. He was clad in golden power armour, the great gauntlets enhancing his already magnificent stature. He sat on an equally imposing throne, a massive device nearly the size of a house, with a long staircase leading up to the chair itself. Wires and tubes covered it, running alongside engravings made in the golden surface. Even a being with no psionic capabilities was able to sense the aura filling the room, as if the very air was filled with a running electric current. It didn't help that the Emperor's worry had heightened his psionic presence.
"My name is Nova. I am the Emperor of... well, this world, now. You most likely came to this place by accident, as did I. This place seems to exude some kind of pull, which pulls beings from various universes into this one, at this location." He didn't mention his explanation for this, as Nova believed that Arcadia's interdimensional pull was a result of the large amount of Terminals that could be found here. He had no time to explain the method of interdimensional travel to this adventurous human. "You were among those most recently drawn to this world. I was among the first. This is the stronghold that I have established in this world, the Imperial Palace. You are here because I believe you will assist me to establish a government in this world, through the elimination of the various evil forces that exist within it. You have experience facing many shadowy villains, but I believe these enemies will prove to be a challenge even for one such as yourself." Of course, even as he spoke, the Emperor mentally directed the events in Arcadia-2.
The lizards secured a position in the labs, but remained out of range of the automated defences. While they were childlike in mindset, their brains had been hard-wired for absolute obedience, and none would stray from their orders. They logged what they saw as the Emperor applied his knowledge of mechanics and computing. While the Conablum technology was foreign to him, it was leagues beneath what humanity had achieved during the Dark Age of Technology, before it had fallen into chaos. With an almost inhuman intellect, Nova began deciphering the several firewalls that blocked his access to the system, directly psychically interfacing with the programming. He could have simply destroyed the walls by erasing the code, but he had a sneaking suspicion that such attempts would activate a backup mechanism, erasing any data he hoped to gain access to. And it had been well coded, it would take some time to dissect, even with direct access.
Of course, as was typical in this world, his efforts were interrupted, as a new psionic presence suddenly appeared in this world. The Ethereal arrived, a sudden stark contrast to the empty void that had previously filled the grounds. He sized up the situation, and made his presence known through military might. Even as this was happening, Banha made his complaints known. However, it was foolish to think that Nova had sent in these beings with no hope of victory. And as the Advent soldiers moved to take out the lizards, they would soon discover the error of their ways. After all, Banha wasn't the only one who had been implanted with knowledge.
The suits worn by the reptiles were based on the original Space Marine armours designed by the Emperor, modified for their inferior size and physical stature. The Black Carapace had been implanted into them, granting them a direct interface with their armour. While they were physically far inferior to the Astartes, their stats were approximately peak human. The Armour boosted that force significantly, making them a force to be reckoned with. Especially as they were now able to wield the Bolters, weapons usually reserved for Space Marines.
The Advent soldiers opened fire, only to find their bullets blocked by what appeared to be an invisible force field surrounding the space marine, capable of easily tanking the tiny rounds. Heavier fire managed to pierce the field, but dealt only mild damage to the reptiles, the suit's plasteel and adamantium plating. They readied their weapons, a row of bolters held up and ready for combat. Giggles and cheering filled the room, as the reptiles complimented themselves on their sudden mastery of combat discipline. Through the helmet's, the sound of the raspy lizard voices laughing was almost unearthly and did not assist the morale of the advent troops, who saw their weapons being made utterly useless by superior defence. They were merely waiting on Banha's order, deferring to him as their commander in a combat situation. With a single word, they would unleash a hail of steel on the enemy forces.
Of course, that was when Eto made her presence known. A monstrous being of blood and writhing flesh, an abomination of nature and a perversion of the human form. Nova frowned, as he sensed this creature's presence. While he would love to interfere directly, he did not wish to abandon his throne at this time. Therefore, he simply called out to the most loyal of his followers through the webway he had constructed in his time on the Golden Throne. And as he called out, they responded, those who were feared even among the Angels of Death. The death dealers of the Emperor, the warriors without name or chapter, the Damned Legion.
They appeared clad in ethereal flames, black scorched armour hiding their forms as they materialized in bursts of flame. They surrounded Eto, silently placing themselves between the Ghouls and the others. Their nature was clear to the Ethereal, beings not of flesh and blood, but rather disembodied souls, forging a physical form in this plane. They were neither living nor dead, the reincarnated forms of those souls that had died in the name of the Emperor. Loyal even in death, they marched as an army of avenging angels. And now 50 of their number had materialized in this room, ready to once more sacrifice their lives in the name of their Emperor. It was as much as the Emperor could do, as this was the purpose of his webway in the first place.
Smiling, Nova gave a last message to the trio of diplomats. "Banha, my forces are under your command. Use them well, with wisdom and ferocity in equal measure. Ruiko, you remain my voice. I have sent aid, but I cannot leave my location. And Rivard.... try not to die." The Ethereal would have heard this message as well, as Nova wished for the Outliners' representative to be aware of the trio's positions. But the second message would be heard by the Ethereal only. "Treat my soldiers with respect, and I will do the same to you."
