While Jean should've been paying attention to what the female professor was saying, he was more or less checking her out. If he wasn't here to get a pokemon he would definitely be trying to put the moves on her, which would probably earn him a slap to the face, get brushed aside, kicked out, or all three. It would've been an awkward conversation with his parents to why he didn't get a pokemon simply because he wasn't thinking with his head. There were plenty of others to go for later. For now, it's time to go find his first partner! With the rest of the crowd, Jean entered the glass dome to find it sprawling with pokemon. Never before had he seen so many pokemon in one spot! He didn't know what kind of pokemon that he wanted to get since he wasn't exactly looking for a specific pokemon to begin with.
"Hm, I wonder what I'll find..." He sauntered around the habitat, unaware of two beady eyes coming from a tree.
"Gar!" A cry came out from one of the trees and a purple blur swooped down straight towards Jean's head at tremendous speed.
"What the fu-?!" Jean cried out just as he was knocked down to the ground by some unknown pokemon that was now knawing on his head. His left eye twitched and he grabbed the pokemon on his head tightly and gave a good tug to get it off his god damn head.
"You little shit! Stop chewing my head!" He growled as he tried to get the tencaious creature off him. Grabbing its tail, he gave a great pull that caused the creature to let go, but then bitch slapped him in the face with the blunt of its claws. Oh boy, if this little bugger wanted a fight then by god he was going to get a fight!
"Alright! Bring it on!" Deliquent and pokemon clashed against each other. A dust cloud had gathered up around them as if this was a cartoon and every now again a passerby would see them throwing it down like wrestlers. The pokemon headbutted Jean and at some point Jean suplexed the pokemon. While the fight seemed to go on forever, it was only really for a minute or two until the two were both laying down on the ground panting.
Jean turned to look at the fying scorpion pokemon and asked,
"Want to be a part of my crew?" The gligar nodded with a fanged grin and raised its claw up to which Jean fist bumped. He hopped to his feet and picked up the wearing bat, scorpion thing and made his way out of the lab after picking up his pokedex, a holocaster, and five pokeballs. Okay, he should probably go home and pack up for the long journey ahead as well as stock up on supplies before heading off on his journey. In the end, he decided to head to the nearest pokemart to get some supplies before going home.
Meanwhile, Reira, once again, had to fight her way through a bunch of tall people just to get outside the building, the small girl stumbling as she didn't notice the step just outside the door. As she put her arms out and flapped like a bird, she managed to regain her balance and her purple eyes looked around to make sure no one noticed. Sighing in relif, she looked around to see if she could spot the familiar red of the Pokemon Center, but nothing seemed to stand out to her. With a light shrug, she adjusted her grip on her bag and started walking in a random direction, figuring she would end upon one eventually.
She was a bit nervous being in the big city on her own for the first time. As she carefully weaved through the people and pokemon running along the sidewalk, she was also admiring the beauty in the buildings that stretched higher than she could crane her neck. As she was looking around, she saw a flash of red from the corner of her eye and paused to look, slowly walking over to one of the many green trees that were planted in the center of the road. As she stepped around the tree, she reckognized the guy from the lab, the one with the firey red hair she was looking at before. Curious, though with a blank look on her face, Reira went to stand in front of the boy, intending to wake him up before she noticed what looked like a Pokemon sleeping with him.
Immediately she knelt in front of the guy, closer than necessairy but Reira had no concept of personal space, and fished around her pocket for her Pokedex. When she found it, she held it up to the pokemon and pushed the botton, watching at it made some noise and registered the small creature into the system, the usual robotic voice giving a small summary of it.
As the mechanic noises began, Kai began to stir, slowly opening his eyes as the voice rang out.
"Vulpix. The Fox Pokemon. At the time of its birth, Vulpix has one white tail. The tail separates into six if this Pokemon receives plenty of love from its trainer. The six tails become magnificently curled.""Hm? Oh... She's a Vulpix?" He blinked, looking down at the still snoozing pokemon. Then, as if realizing what was going on, his head bolted up and he looked the girl right in the eyes.
"OH! Well... Hello there." He greeted her, flashing his best princely smile. His voice somehow managed to wake the sleeping Vulpix as Akira lazily lifted her head to look around, her body jolting when she saw the all too close creature near her. She wiggled around in Kai's arms, trying to get free so that she could freely growl at this new person.
"Hey, hey. Calm down. I'm sure she's not here to hurt us. Right, Miss?" He asked, looking up at the girl with the lavender colored hair.
Reira's expression stayed blank as she returned the greeting.
"Hello." she said, tilting her head as her eyes flickered from the boy's green ones and to his Pokemon. She put her Pokedex back in her pocket and greeted the little brown fox.
"Hi. I'm Reira. I want to pet you." she said, her tone was soft and probably hard to hear. She looked back at the boy and waited for permission to pet his friend.
"Oh... I... I uh... I'm not the one you need to ask permission." He explained, chuckling as he motioned towards the warm ball of fury on his legs. Akira glared up at the girl, her teeth still showing despite the girl's attempts. Though, her tail lowered just a bit. Kai chuckled again.
"If you want her to pet you, you'll need to stop growling, brat." He spoke again, pushing the little pokemon's head to the side playfully. She whipped her head around and glared at him before putting her teeth away and turning back to the girl.
"P-Pix..." She barked, barely a whisper.
Reira didn't hesitate to reach out with her small hand and gently ruffle the fur on the head of the little fox. The corners of her mouth twitched a bit before a small smile formed.
"Cutie~" she said, moving her hand back and reaching into her pocket again. She pulled out the two pokeballs inside and looked at them, unsure of which one her Buneary was in. Deciding to just chance it, she poked the center of one and watched as a red light came out of it, and sure enough, her little Buneary popped out and looked around. Reira picked her up and held her out in front of her, showing the boy and the Vulpix that she had a friend too.
"This is Coco.""Buneary!" she squealed, wiggling in Reira's hand, trying to get free and play.
Kai was too blown away by the girl's sneaky smile to even realize what she was going for until the pokemon was being presented to his face. A smile of his own formed on his face as he nodded at her.
"Hello Coco." Kai greeted the pokemon.
"You know, Coco. Your owner is very good at introducing her pokemon but very bad at introducing herself. I wonder... could you introduce her for me?" He asked, leaning over to smile at the small bunny pokemon.
Akira on the other hand was glaring bullets at the new pokemon. Where the hell had it come from and what was all of this? However, her curiousity got the better of her as she softly padded her way through Kai's arms to sniff first the pokemon and then the creature behind it and the ball from which the pokemon came from.
"Vul...pix?" She barked, obviously a bit concerned with the round object.
Reira put Coco down onto her feet and she immediately started to hop around them excitedly. She let her do so while she was gathering the courage to properly introduce herself.
"My... name is Reira." she said, looking a bit shy, thought the feeling was a bit delayed since she'd been talking to them for the past minute or two.
"I'm a new trainer and Coco... she's my partner." Her purple eyes glanced over at the hyperactive bunny.
"She likes meeting new people. ...Who are you?" she asked the red haired boy.
He smiled at her shy introduction, odd considering her earlier boldness. Well... boldness was relative.
"I'm Kaigra, though most people end up calling me Kai. You're welcome to refer to me either way. Whatever suits you." He returned. He looked down for his own pokemon only to realize she was still sniffing Reira's bag.
"Maybe you can help me get her into the pokeball later on." He mused, chuckling to himself,
"She seems fine around you." "I'm a new trainer too. How do you... uh... work that thing? The pokedex?" He asked, and started pulling his own out of his bag.
Reira never took her eyes of the guy as he spoke, but as Coco hopped past her, she reached out and gently grabbed the bunny's ear and guided her back over, making sure she wasn't thinking about running off before she released her. If she were to get lost in the city, there would be nothing Reira could do.
When she was asked about the pokedex, Reira pointed to the small button in the center of it.
"Press that then hold it up to a Pokemon." she said.
"Wait... It's really that easy?" He asked, sighing, mostly at himself. Reira nodded in response.
"God, I'm an idiot." With a deep breath, he shook his head and held the device up to his pokemon who had her head buried in Reira's bag and pressed the button. The same voice that came over Reira's came over his and he smiled. Next, he did the same for the Bunnery and smiled at Reira.
"By the way... I think Akira's about to go for something in your bag. Ahh... Akira. Stop... stop, Little One." He called out to his pokemon, reaching over to grab her but lost his balance and fell ontop of the poor girl. Reira gasped softly as she also lost her balance and fell back with Kai partially on top of her. Her Buneary looked a bit confused for a second and then it made a noise and covered its little mouth with one of its hands. Coco seemed to be laughing at her and it caused Reira to blush.
"Oh crap!" Kai yelped trying to get up off of her as gently but as quickly as he could.
"I'm so sorry! Are you hurt?" He asked, frantically looking her over.
"I'm f-fine, don't worry..." Reira said a bit shyly. Akira had gotten out of the way considering Kai was trying to pull her out of it to begin with and watched as her creature fell on top of the other smller creature. She looked from the two to the other pokemon and then back to her creature.
"Vulpix!" She barked, loudly for the first time since meeting Kai and got between him and Reira, growling again.
"Oh jeez, Akira. Not this again. It was my fault, stop growling at the poor girl." He told her, patting the angry pokemon on the head. After a few moments, she stopped growling and turned to look at Kai as if to say, 'Then stop goofing around, nitwit.'
Reira blinked and stared at the small fox pokemon for a moment before giving a small smile and getting to her feet.
"I don't think... Akira likes me. Sorry." she said, dusting off her butt with a few pats of her hands. She knelt and picked up Coco's pokeball, putting it in her pocket, thinking that it was probably time for her to leave the two alone. Reira normally didn't talk much, but somehow this guy made her want to sit and talk for a long time. It was a bit tiring considering she hadn't planned to wake him and his pokemon up in the first place. Her Buneary hopped up onto her head in one big leap, smiling down at the two as Reira adjusted her bag.
"Perhaps I should get going. Where's the pokemon center?" she asked Kai, wondering if he knew. She wasn't sure where she was going in the bic city, and her map only outlined the major routes connecting the towns and cities. She knew she would have to stock up on supplies if she was thinking about going on some long journey with Coco and Pecha.
"It can be kind of confusing to explain, so how about I just show you?" He offered and already picked up Akira to head that way. Reira nodded to this and started to follow Kai. Akira was still growling a bit but after a few moments stopped and simply sat in his arms staring out at the people that went by.
"Where are you from, Reira? I'm from Santalune but I spent a lot of time here in the city." He asked, explaining his own home as well.
Reaching up to pet Coco, she answered Kai's question.
"I am from Camphrier Town. I grew up there, but now I live in the Day Care on Route 7. That's where I got an egg that was left behing. When it hatched, Coco was inside. We've been together for three years now." she said. She looked around the city at the tall buildings and shook her head.
"I've never been here before... it's noisy. Route 7 is more peaceful." she stated matter-of-factly, lowering her hand that was petting her pokemon.
"I came to get a pokemon so that I can start to explore the rest of the region." Reira was a bit surprised that someone had found her interesting enough to ask things like where she was from. This was a first for her, and she thought that maybe Kai could become a friend or something. She didn't say anything, just continued to look around, sticking close to his side in fear of losing him and getting lost.
Kai smiled at the thought. Maybe that would be nice... a peaceful place. Good for naps, right?
"Sounds great. I'll have to visit Route 7 sometime and let Akira play around there." He spoke, still walking. Noticing her nerves, he turned his head to look at her before telling her,
"Grab onto my bag's strap if it gets too crowded. And... if someone touches you inappropriately, tell me and I'll beat 'em up." Reira looked a bit surprised but nodded and did what she was told, just holding on to his bag strap. She considered any more than three people to be 'too crowded'. Kai laughed a bit before continuing, landing them both in the Pokecenter. As soon as they entered, a strange blue pokemon rushed at Reira's pokemon and scooped it up.
Reira squealed in fright as a random pokemon rushed at her and she closed her eyes, lifting her hands up protectively. She heard the sound of her Buneary also making a frightened noise just before the weight of her was lifted from her head. Reira didn't know what was going on, but she was going to get upset really fast if she didn't get her pokemon back.
Looking around Logan saw Oleg scooping up some girl's buneary and cuddling it tightly with poor Rook unsuccesfully trying to pry the rabbit from Oleg's clutches. Trotting over Logan bonked Oleg on the top of the head with it recessing into his body by an inch for a second causing him to pause in his actions enough for Rook to pull the Buneary out. "Oleg! What did I tell you about cuddling stranger's pokemon randomly. It's not how you make friends. You got to introduce yourself. Like this. Hi, I'm Logan, and this palooka as you probably heard is Oleg. The little hero there is Rook. Sorry about that Oleg has a thing for cute and fuzzy." He said extending a hand.
Coco fought and kicked her way out of the other pokemon's grip before hopping into Reira's arms. She looked down at the pokemon who snatched her, looking a bit nervous, thinking it was going to pull something like that again. When someone, who she assumed to be the pokemon's trainer, extended a hand in greeting, she slowly extended her own and shook it. That was... an odd greeting to say the least.
"H-hi. I'm Reira." she said, pulling her hand back and placing Coco back on her head.
"Coco." she said, pointing to her Buneary.
"Kai and Akira." she continued, pointing to Kai. After a moment, it seemed like she remembered something. Fishing into her pocket, she polled out the Pokedex and registered Logan's two pokemon, giving them each a pat on the head as she did.
Kai chuckled at the interaction, smiling with a small wave as Reira introduced into.
"It's nice to meet you, Logan." He greeted him, holding out a hand to shake.
