I fucked up somewhere in the coding but yeah heres my character, if anyone can tell me or fix the issue would be awesome. :)

Athena Maria Valentine

_{Athena appears to have very smooth skin long brown hair that always seems to be wavy, she stands at about 5'6 and about 120lbs. Athena usually walks around with a bit of confidence Athena does have quiet a rebel streak to her and doesn't take to authority very well especially when it comes to anything to do with her father. Athena secretly has a tattoo of a phoenix on her lower back which she wont show unless she considers you a friend which she got just to spite their father. Athena when she isn't in SWI's Tituba's uniform, or when she is not on school grounds, her summer clothes usually consist of off the shoulder shirts as well as shorts and high heel shoes. In the colder months Athena will lean more towards wearing long sleeve shirts, leather jackets jeans and boots. Athena has both of her ears pierced but nothing else, and a few scars across her back which she refuses to talk about unless you want to risk her wrath.}

P E R S O N A L I T Y

When you first meet Athena she tends to be very sarcastic, and may come off more bitchy to those she doesn't know but once you get to know her Athena can be friendly though she has been known to be brutally honest and wont hesitate to speak her mind, she has been known to have a very rebellious streak when it comes to authority especially when it comes to anything to do with her father or the family business and will most likely refuse to do anything with either of them. Athena is the most reluctant to go to any events that their family runs, and feels the most out of place during those family events Athena will keep to herself.

Athena is extremely close to her twin brother Carlo who is only a few minutes older then she is, and can usually be seen with him almost constantly, she can be very protective over him when it comes to dealing with their older brother. When it comes to school work Athena tends to struggle getting nothing higher then C's and B's when it comes to her best classes. However when it comes to the harder subjects she has the hardest time barely making anything above a C or sometimes lower she does accept help whenever it comes to it or offered. Athena however has one big fear which is her father and is prone to nightmares and what happens in them Athena will rarely talk about it only to her brother. But most of the time Athena is seen as a confident person, and all she truly wants is to be close to someone.

H I S T O R Y

The youngest of the Valentine family though five minutes younger to her brother Carlo, she is seen as runt of the family and looked down at the most especially their father and older brother. She was the one who had gotten the most abuse from their father, and having the scars to prove it, the only people who were there for her the most were Carlo, their mother and older sister Adrianna. Though as she got older Athena learned to get used to the constant abuse. Then it came to going to Salem Witches Institute Athena felt more comfortable there then being at home Athena was sorted into House Tituba.

Athena always had a passion for the game of Quidditch as soon as she could she applied to join the Tituba's Quidditch team, along with her brother who was on the Good's Quidditch team. Athena became Tituba team's Seeker, she is one of the team's best Seekers and won several games, when Carlo quit playing Quidditch she was obviously devastated but she remained with the game even if she did end up getting sent to Hospital Ward multiple times. Athena is also in the Dueling Club which she also enjoys quiet a bit as well and Choir as the clubs that she had joined, when it comes to the ending of a semester or vacation time Athena usually ends up dreading having to go back home where she has to deal with their father.

F A M I L Y
For some odd reason, all of those who have blood directly descended from the Saint Valentine of Rome have all been born on February 14th, which is ironically Valentine‘s Day, named after said saint.

The main Valentine Estate is located within The Golden Triangle Neighborhood of Greenwich, Connecticut.

It’s mainly a Wizard-only neighborhood with the exception of a few muggle and halfblood families in residence. The Valentines look over that since all of the families are from the upper-class and above of financial and social standing. The Valentine Estate is the largest - and richest - estate in the neighborhood. It is known for holding the most extravagant parties during the winter and summer breaks, especially if the children are home. Though, most of the social gatherings happen while they are away for school.

The Valentine wealth comes from a number of questionable activities as they have been the center of a lot of controversy of importing nigh-illegal goods from all over the world. Though none of it has been proven, it still has been questioned by the Republic of Magic.

The Valentine Family as it stands now:

• Fabio Vincent Valentine | 65 | Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Valentine Incorporated
  Described as strict, overbearing, and always on his children’s asses about their respective responsibilities. He also has a habit of physically abusing them if they get out of hand or if they argue with anything he commands them to do - that goes double for Bianca.
• Bianca Valentine | 58 | Executive Vice President of Valentine Incorporated
  Described as firm, but still loving. She is probably the reason why the Valentine children have love in their hearts. Even though he abuses her, she loves her husband and knows that there is good in him even after all the shit he does to her.
• Pablo Valentine | 30 | Co-Vice President of Valentine Incorporated
  Being the first born, Pablo definitely takes after his father the most. He has just as much strictness in him as his father has and is just as much of a hardass like Fabio. There is also a rather power-hungry and greedy side to him. There is currently a plan to overthrow his father sometime in the future.
• Adrianna Theresa Valentine | 25 | Professor at NYU
  Completely separate from her family’s semi-legal operations, Adrianna chose to not even take part in her family’s business. Instead - and much against her father and mother’s wish - chose to live among the muggles as she teaches Film Study at NYU. She tries to maintain a relationship with her family, but they haven’t returned her olive branch. Well, that is aside from her youngest brother, Carlo, who has a rather close bond to her. He still harbors some kind of anger towards her for leaving. If only he knew why..
• Cassandria Medusa Valentine | 22 | Assistant Branch Manager of Valentine Incorporated
  Though a bit wild, Cassie has been given the opportunity by her parents to redeem herself in their image by giving her a job at the family business. She is described as that kind of person that doesn’t really like being told what to do and usually acts out just to spite her parents. This, obviously, isn’t something that they like - especially her father due to the way that he is. She is awfully close to Carlo and Adrianna.

ALSO, just a note to everybody, while your characters often say that they are "the greatest" or "the best" in the "so-so" quidditch team - let it just be known that...they might not really be the best? I've been letting it slide because sometimes we overexaggerate in histories, but I've been seeing it a lot.

In another note, I haven't been really paying attention to clubs at the moment, because I've been distracted with the "meat" of the CSes while simultaneously finishing up mine. However, I will be looking at them once I finish with Bora and Duri and will be filling in the tabs (and making them pretty c:) under the character tab soon. So, if there are any consistencies with team spots that I haven't notice - I'm sorry T_T If such a thing happens, I'll most likely give the position to the person with the oldest character in terms of years or whoever said it first, depending on the situation. So, just thought I should mention that.

<sub>Though one of the taller boys in his family, Dor stands at 5'9" and so is around average among his peers at Salem. His broad shoulders and bulkier figure suit him well in his position as Keeper. His skin is tanned, a result of his heritage and all his time spent out in the Arizona sun. A smile often painted across his face, it's the joyful smile of a young man with the world before him and an intent to do his best with it. The smile reaches his brown eyes and if one pays attention they can see a hint of self-satisfaction to that smile, assuming his words haven't made it obvious. Past his eyes and those mighty eyebrows, atop his head is a mess of dark brown curls. He cares for his hair attentively, well enough to keep his curls healthy and free of knots.

Dor considers his own style simple and casual. Not quite concerned with brands or fashion, so much as fit and comfort. He hates to spend too much money or time buying clothes. No, his simple button up and shorts, or his long sleeve and jeans work just fine so long as they fit and he carries himself well. Still, even he has a bit of vanity and will go all out for formal occasions. His school uniform follows the same rules, and he enjoys the way the red blazer sticks out. He hesitates to admit it, but his variety of bow ties is something of a guilty pleasure. His only bit of jewelry is a wooden ring on his left hand. His grandfather gave him the ring carved with images of various creatures of Brazil on his eighth birthday, and as Dor grew, the ring grew to fit his fingers revealing more creatures as it did so.</sub>

Delving Deeper

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Dorado is sure of himself in almost every degree. He was rarely denied anything growing up and quickly found that he's good at what he likes to do. That's not to say he doesn't work for it, he does. He's just lucky enough to have that extra bit of talent adding to what he accomplishes. He's a social person, enjoying conversing with people of different backgrounds and learning from them. He strives to treat everyone with the respect they deserve. Dor loves attention and is not afraid to stand out with what he does. He'll answer any question in class, pull impressive maneuvers on the Quidditch pitch, and often speak out loud and at length of his various accomplishments. He'll gladly play up the accomplishments of his friends too, so long as he's the one who gets to tell the story. He can be a competitive guy, enjoying proving that he's better at Potions or Quidditch, but he finds it very difficult to be a graceful loser when he's bested.

Despite his best efforts to be respectful towards everyone, he often falls short. Because of his confidence in his own judgment and beliefs, he can be self-righteous when it comes to the treatment of non-wizards. This lets him conveniently overlook the lack of respect he's currently showing for a witch or wizard. He considers himself above those who lack both talent and the work ethic to make up for a lack of talent. He figures there's no excuse to not be good at something. Adding to his list of shortcomings in the respect department is the way he can be with girls. It's not that he feels women are inferior; his mother taught him that lesson very well. No, he's just a teenage boy who often overlooks the feelings and personalities of young women in his quest to get some action. But it's harmless, it's not like he's actually gone after another girl while in a relationship. Well... except that one time. It's clear that despite his well-meaning values, he's still got a lot of learning to do about humans and magical creatures alike before he can truly make a difference.

He enjoys a good party and a good time. Being around people is an enjoyable experience for him and he never passes up an opportunity to make a new connection. He waves away any concerns that he could damage his reputation for the future with a favorite quote from his father: "No politician is to be trusted. But I'd take one who's flaws I can see over one who seems flawless."

H I S T O R Y

Dorado was was born to two magical parents in Arizona. The two run their own apothecary on the outskirts of Tucson. Growing up an only child, Dorado always considered himself something special. His parents' love and full support gave him the confidence to go after any goal he had, no matter how small or how outlandish it may be. His parents allowed him to learn for himself what was within his limits rather than squash any dreams outright. The family had a simple routine, with Rafa making a show of driving to work each morning while Columba "stayed home" to be a "good housewife" and also home-school Dor.

He spent many days of his early years Floo-ing back and forth between his house in the city and their shop just outside it. His parents made their best effort to run the apothecary while taking the extra time to teach Dorado. His mother was an excellent teacher in the simpler aspects of her work and an endless source of information on their nights staring at the skies, but the rest of his education fell on Rafa's shoulders. He showed his son what he needed to be a proper presence in the world: the basic arithmetic anyone needed to get by, the who's, what's, when's, and where's of American wizard culture, the importance of talking to people. Although Dor's grandparents disapproved of their primarily Muggle neighborhood, and those Muggles found the Iturbide's rather odd, Dor managed to make acquaintances among the kids in the neighborhood and found that they weren't really that much different from his own family. They were no more different than his grandparents were from American wizards.

His parents' apothecary served as the primary source of potions and ingredients in much of the area between Texas and California, and his mother often had to restock. From an early age, Dorado was fascinated by the man who dealt in ingredients from magical creatures. He came in every month with wild stories and great quantities of ingredients for his mother. As he grew up and slowly got to know the man that was Ezra Noyer, he learned more and more about the magical natural world. Specifically, he how unhappy it was with wizard-kind.

When it came time to go to Salem Witch's Institute, Dorado was overjoyed at the idea of finally learning more about magical creatures for himself as well as the art to which his mother had devoted her life. Over his time at Salem, as he grew and got to know the world and himself a little better, there were a few things that became clear to him. One was that he was pretty good at Quiddtich, and that was a good way to draw the attention of girls. Another, was that the world magic community showed no responsibility in its interactions with non-wizards. Muggles and magical creatures alike were treated as second-class beings. They had no say in anything involving wizards and witches, and the wizards showed little to no concern on how their decisions affected them. He began to think that he was the one who would do something about it. He chose his classes in his third year with the intention of one day going on to represent the interests of magical beings and muggles alike. After graduating from Salem Witch's Institute he plans to either attend a Muggle University or spend a few years assisting Mr. Noyer in his work, perhaps one then the other. Following that he wishes to become a representative in the Republic once he feels he really understands these outside parties.

F A M I L Y

Rafael Iturbide - Rafa traces his lineage back to a proud ancient Pureblood family in northern Spain. They were concerned with power, and so their history has all the bright and dark spots you'd expect. Through clever magic they planted a Squib within an important Muggle family, and effectively doubled their power through the favorable dealing with Muggles that resulted. At the establishment of the International Statue of Secrecy, his ancestor Mercurio Iturbide, cut off all contact with his cousins in the Muggle world and took his family across the Atlantic in search of new opportunities. Generations later, Rafael was born in Mexico, the youngest of three sons. Despite his parents' high expectations and his brothers' excellence at... everything, Rafael Iturbide shows little magical talent. Whether putting in minimal effort or devoting all his time, his performance in anything is just average. Still, there is a sort of magnetism to him. Friendly, kind-hearted, and enthusiastic, people can't help but fall for his humble charm. He considers marrying Columba his greatest achievement.

Columba Rocha - Columba came from a long magical line as well, but hers was more tangled. The large intermingling of cultures in her parents' native Brasil meant while her blood was completely magical (so far as anyone could tell) her ancestry was a little more difficult to follow. Her father's name was nothing special, and they had no notable fortune to speak of. This is what prompted the move to the United States where he raised his first and only daughter. Columba's parents, in an unfamiliar place with only their neighboring wizards to help, sent Columba to Salem Witches Institute in hopes that the school's reputation and resources would provide the best opportunities for her. She proved to be a talented witch, particularly shining in her works in Potions and Astronomy. And while her looks drew significant attention from other stundents, she remained firmly focused on her studies. She had been working at Foxglove and Mushrooms in Honeycutt for two years after graduating when Rafa Iturbide, a seventh year at Salem, finally stole her heart. After three more years of saving money and gaining experience, the two married and moved to Arizona where Columba opened her apothecary.

Past his eyes and those mighty eyebrows, atop his head is a mess of dark brown curls. He cares for his hair attentively, well enough to keep his curls healthy and free of knots.

Dor considers his own style simple and casual. Not quite concerned with brands or fashion, so much as fit and comfort. He hates to spend too much money or time buying clothes. No, his simple button up and shorts, or his long sleeve and jeans work just fine so long as they fit and he carries himself well. Still, even he has a bit of vanity and will go all out for formal occasions. His school uniform follows the same rules, and he enjoys the way the red blazer sticks out. He hesitates to admit it, but his variety of bow ties is something of a guilty pleasure. His only bit of jewelry is a wooden ring on his left hand. His grandfather gave him the ring carved with images of various creatures of Brazil on his eighth birthday, and as Dor grew, the ring grew to fit his fingers revealing more creatures as it did so.</sub>

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Dorado is sure of himself in almost every degree. He was rarely denied anything growing up and quickly found that he's good at what he likes to do. That's not to say he doesn't work for it, he does. He's just lucky enough to have that extra bit of talent adding to what he accomplishes. He's a social person, enjoying conversing with people of different backgrounds and learning from them. He strives to treat everyone with the respect they deserve. Dor loves attention and is not afraid to stand out with what he does. He'll answer any question in class, pull impressive maneuvers on the Quidditch pitch, and often speak out loud and at length of his various accomplishments. He'll gladly play up the accomplishments of his friends too, so long as he's the one who gets to tell the story. He can be a competitive guy, enjoying proving that he's better at Potions or Quidditch, but he finds it very difficult to be a graceful loser when he's bested.

Despite his best efforts to be respectful towards everyone, he often falls short. Because of his confidence in his own judgment and beliefs, he can be self-righteous when it comes to the treatment of non-wizards. This lets him conveniently overlook the lack of respect he's currently showing for a witch or wizard. He considers himself above those who lack both talent and the work ethic to make up for a lack of talent. He figures there's no excuse to not be good at something. Adding to his list of shortcomings in the respect department is the way he can be with girls. It's not that he feels women are inferior; his mother taught him that lesson very well. No, he's just a teenage boy who often overlooks the feelings and personalities of young women in his quest to get some action. But it's harmless, it's not like he's actually gone after another girl while in a relationship. Well... except that one time. It's clear that despite his well-meaning values, he's still got a lot of learning to do about humans and magical creatures alike before he can truly make a difference.

He enjoys a good party and a good time. Being around people is an enjoyable experience for him and he never passes up an opportunity to make a new connection. He waves away any concerns that he could damage his reputation for the future with a favorite quote from his father: "No politician is to be trusted. But I'd take one who's flaws I can see over one who seems flawless."

H I S T O R Y

Dorado was was born to two magical parents in Arizona. The two run their own apothecary on the outskirts of Tucson. Growing up an only child, Dorado always considered himself something special. His parents' love and full support gave him the confidence to go after any goal he had, no matter how small or how outlandish it may be. His parents allowed him to learn for himself what was within his limits rather than squash any dreams outright. The family had a simple routine, with Rafa making a show of driving to work each morning while Columba "stayed home" to be a "good housewife" and also home-school Dor.

He spent many days of his early years Floo-ing back and forth between his house in the city and their shop just outside it. His parents made their best effort to run the apothecary while taking the extra time to teach Dorado. His mother was an excellent teacher in the simpler aspects of her work and an endless source of information on their nights staring at the skies, but the rest of his education fell on Rafa's shoulders. He showed his son what he needed to be a proper presence in the world: the basic arithmetic anyone needed to get by, the who's, what's, when's, and where's of American wizard culture, the importance of talking to people. Although Dor's grandparents disapproved of their primarily Muggle neighborhood, and those Muggles found the Iturbide's rather odd, Dor managed to make acquaintances among the kids in the neighborhood and found that they weren't really that much different from his own family. They were no more different than his grandparents were from American wizards.

His parents' apothecary served as the primary source of potions and ingredients in much of the area between Texas and California, and his mother often had to restock. From an early age, Dorado was fascinated by the man who dealt in ingredients from magical creatures. He came in every month with wild stories and great quantities of ingredients for his mother. As he grew up and slowly got to know the man that was Ezra Noyer, he learned more and more about the magical natural world. Specifically, he how unhappy it was with wizard-kind.

When it came time to go to Salem Witch's Institute, Dorado was overjoyed at the idea of finally learning more about magical creatures for himself as well as the art to which his mother had devoted her life. Over his time at Salem, as he grew and got to know the world and himself a little better, there were a few things that became clear to him. One was that he was pretty good at Quiddtich, and that was a good way to draw the attention of girls. Another, was that the world magic community showed no responsibility in its interactions with non-wizards. Muggles and magical creatures alike were treated as second-class beings. They had no say in anything involving wizards and witches, and the wizards showed little to no concern on how their decisions affected them. He began to think that he was the one who would do something about it. He chose his classes in his third year with the intention of one day going on to represent the interests of magical beings and muggles alike. After graduating from Salem Witch's Institute he plans to either attend a Muggle University or spend a few years assisting Mr. Noyer in his work, perhaps one then the other. Following that he wishes to become a representative in the Republic once he feels he really understands these outside parties.

F A M I L Y

Rafael Iturbide - Rafa traces his lineage back to a proud ancient Pureblood family in northern Spain. They were concerned with power, and so their history has all the bright and dark spots you'd expect. Through clever magic they planted a Squib within an important Muggle family, and effectively doubled their power through the favorable dealing with Muggles that resulted. At the establishment of the International Statue of Secrecy, his ancestor Mercurio Iturbide, cut off all contact with his cousins in the Muggle world and took his family across the Atlantic in search of new opportunities. Generations later, Rafael was born in Mexico, the youngest of three sons. Despite his parents' high expectations and his brothers' excellence at... everything, Rafael Iturbide shows little magical talent. Whether putting in minimal effort or devoting all his time, his performance in anything is just average. Still, there is a sort of magnetism to him. Friendly, kind-hearted, and enthusiastic, people can't help but fall for his humble charm. He considers marrying Columba his greatest achievement.

Columba Rocha - Columba came from a long magical line as well, but hers was more tangled. The large intermingling of cultures in her parents' native Brasil meant while her blood was completely magical (so far as anyone could tell) her ancestry was a little more difficult to follow. Her father's name was nothing special, and they had no notable fortune to speak of. This is what prompted the move to the United States where he raised his first and only daughter. Columba's parents, in an unfamiliar place with only their neighboring wizards to help, sent Columba to Salem Witches Institute in hopes that the school's reputation and resources would provide the best opportunities for her. She proved to be a talented witch, particularly shining in her works in Potions and Astronomy. And while her looks drew significant attention from other stundents, she remained firmly focused on her studies. She had been working at Foxglove and Mushrooms in Honeycutt for two years after graduating when Rafa Iturbide, a seventh year at Salem, finally stole her heart. After three more years of saving money and gaining experience, the two married and moved to Arizona where Columba opened her apothecary.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Blake is a product of quite the dysfunctional family, and it causes her to be someone who's hard to understand. People often peg her as a delinquent, a problem child, and a pain in the neck, and well... it's because it's true. Blake doesn't give a shit what people think of her and she does whatever she wants, not caring what it may do to others or considering the repercussions of her actions. She's a rebel, a thrill seeker, a fighter, but also entirely misunderstood. When she's suffering, she takes it out on other people by playing pranks or just being outright rude. She's blunt when it comes to how she feels about things, and whatever she says goes, otherwise it's the end of the world. She suffers from dissociation and often times believes that everyone and everything is out to get her or doesn't understand her. When she wants to get someone's attention, she'll bother them until they notice her, or do something completely over the top to be the center of attention. She gets into trouble a lot, and that can make it seem as though she's someone to stay away from, but in reality, Blake could be a really cool friend if someone were to see behind her rebel facade.

In a nutshell, she's bat shit crazy. Then again, aren't we all a little insane inside?

H I S T O R Y

For most of her life, Blake didn't know what it felt like to be a normal child. She grew up in Whales with her mother and father who typically spent a lot of time away from home. Despite basically being raised by her neighbors, she was told by her parents to never forget she was loved from the bottom of their hearts. It turned out that her parents had... different ways of showing it.

Her mother was the nice one. She was super mom, the best mom ever who baked the best cookies ever. During the times she was home, she allowed a young Blake to sit and watch her paint. When she was sad, her mother cradled her until Blake grew intoxicated by her scent of tea and lavender shampoo. At night, her mother would tuck her in, read her a story and kiss her goodnight after mumbling a soft "I love you."

Her father was completely the opposite. He was always angry and yelling, cursing and hitting Blake for the smallest things, telling her he did it out of love and that it would end up making her a better person in the long run. He was violent with her, often leaving dark bruises on her skin that lasted weeks or longer before healing. Aside from being physically abusive, he was verbally, emotionally, and even sexually abusive towards Blake, always claiming it was out of love.

Love. That dangerous word.

Blake's mother was oblivious to the abuse, as she grew older, it was easier to hide everything. Her mom was always so happy, and Blake was hesitant to ruin the life that her mother thought was so perfect. When she became of age and entered wizarding school, she excelled in her studies, and the only thing to match was her poor attitude and ability to get in trouble. During an explosive accident (that was totally) not her fault, Blake got burned pretty bad and was seen by the school nurse, resulting in the revelation that she was being abused at home. When her mother found out, she was furious and confronted her dad and things got so out of control, the worst thing imaginable happened.

Blake ended up losing the one thing she really cared about.

Coping with the loss of her mother with nearly impossible, and Blake's rebellious nature got even more out of control. It got to a point where she was expelled from the school she attended and forced to go to therapy for a few months before she was allowed to return.

An opportunity arose for exceptional students to be allowed to transfer and attend an American school, and Blake jumped at the chance. Though her reputation was sour, there was no doubt that her grades were exceptional. Surprisingly enough, her transfer was approved and she was set to attend Salem, under the promise that she would behave.

She's roughly 3 years old, three feet in length and about an inch in width (2 inches at her widest part), very docile and doesn't mind being handled by strangers. She likes to hide in Blake's backpack or clothing, often surprising people when she slithers out of Blake's sleeve. She doesn't bite or attack other animals/people (or try to eat them) but will curl up to them for warmth.

<sub>Standing at five foot nothing, Astrid is pretty damn small. She's not especially slim and dainty with a stocky build and a face that's still carrying some extra baby-fat, giving the appearance of someone three or four years younger than she actually is. Nevertheless, she is fairly attractive in a dorky, girl next door sort of way. Reddish-brown hair and dark eyes are the only features inherited from her mother. The rest – bone-structure, height, freckles, pretty smile – all comes from her dad. Astrid's resemblance to him is uncanny.

Typically Astrid is a bit lazy in how she dresses at the weekends and seems to be a hipster in style when not in uniform. Leather jackets with the sleeves rolled up and flannel shirts, usually in calm purples or vibrant reds. Occasionally she'll have the urge to dress more feminine, perhaps in a skater dress, but there is always a sense of discomfort around her when her knees are showing. In fact, an air of discomfort has been permanently surrounding her lately as she avoids eye contact. She wears a lot of winged eyeliner.

No unusual piercings other than her ears, no tattoos. She usually wears a dragon-tooth earring. Astrid has a few burns, scrapes and scars still healing from over the summer when she had her internship at a dragon reserve in Alaska. Often her camera can be seen hanging by a strap from her neck, and her hands stained with newspaper ink. She's a avid reader of all of them.</sub>

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Astrid is particularly passionate on her chosen subjects and career path – that of a David Attenborough-esque reporter on magical creatures – and can seem single-minded when it comes to writing, photography and yes, Care of Magical Creatures itself. She cries when she gets into arguments. In fact, she cries a lot for no apparent reason other than, "Ohmigosh, that dragon is so cute," or, "I got an Acceptable in Potions!" Despite this, she isn't very insecure or self-conscious – an individual who knows what she wants to do and is aware of her strengths.

That being said, she isn't loud. Her confidence is the quiet sort. Astrid doesn't speak much and finds it difficult to insert herself into conversations, if only because she doesn't want to interrupt or come across as 'interviewing' someone, which is a bad habit she sometimes falls into. She has always been quite precocious and has grown up into a naturally curious, inquisitive teenager, which is to be expected given that magic is everywhere. Often she asks too many questions of purebloods and half-bloods alike out of interest alone.

Finally, Astrid's bravery is not something to be doubted. She never turns away from the prospect of something being 'dangerous', and is quite willing to face up to her fears. Even though her Boggart is the Hungarian Horntail, she's a firm believer that when she has to one day face one in the flesh (and there's no doubt in her mind that she will), she'll learn to get over it.

H I S T O R Y

Astrid is the only child of Dean and Linda Kitchener, born when her mother was poorly. Though the woman's health initially seemed to improve after the birth, it all went downhill rather quickly when Astrid was three, leaving her motherless – though by her death, she hadn't seen her (other than fleeting visits) in some months due to her hospitalisation. Astrid therefore has few memories of her mother, though does have pictures to look at and long over. Dean, though he was a hard-working American stereotype, went to great lengths to ensure that he could come home at nights and that his daughter was only babysat during the days wherever possible. Naturally because of his job, which is 'classified' though not at all secretive, this was not always achievable.

Later, when Astrid recieved her letter for Salem, her dad would claim that he noticed all the spooky happenings about his daughter and just shrugged it off, hitting the whisky instead to pretend it never happened. She loves him all the more for it.

Astrid instantly became enamored with the magical world. All of her hobbies and passions from before seemed to be useless and boring compared to Quiddich and spell-casting and... dragons? It was like a childhood dream realised when she found out they actually existed. Since then, Astrid has collected all sorts of information, books and articles about the Wizarding World, and has a collection of old newspapers from when she turned eleven to the present day which she keeps in immaculate condition.

While not the most academically gifted, she is for sure hard-working, and five years of effort led to her work placement at a Dragon Reserve at the end of her fifth year, and then again she was invited back last summer too. She has many, many photographs and a few nifty scars now from it. Recently she got promoted from reserve Chaser on her house's Quiddich team to the official Chaser.

F A M I L Y

Dean Kitchener, 47 – Astrid's father and the only living relative she has left in the world. Given that her mother died when she was very young, she'll never know if she is a Muggleborn or a Half-blood, though she assumes the latter to just be fantasy. Given that she was raised by her dad, who is a government agent and short on free-time but always made some for her, Astrid is very close to him. He didn't freak out when her magic was discovered and took it in from a practical perspective. It isn't very surprising; he is a huge comic book nerd.

F A M I L I A R

Frank Sinatra: the amazing, exotic parrot! Astrid has taught her familiar to speak, mostly, with the help of a bit of magic and some books on the subject. He knows most of her school spells and likes to repeat them at random, though it does terrify the living daylights out of visitors when he says, Avada Kedavra. Who on earth taught him that? Very affectionate, and very loud.

• Interned last year at the Noatak Dragon Reserve in Alaska, and has a job opportunity there when she leaves Salem;
  
  • As a result, she knows more than a few really interesting spells that are used exclusively in the field (such as dragon containment charms and awesome fireproofing ones designed to stand up against dragons).
