@Lord Zee I'm so confused, was your attack meant to be an all encompassing, shock through the ground sort of thing? That's not how I read it at all. Am I just confused? I thought Lucius was a really powerful Mage, there's no way he'd do something that would potentially hurt so many bystanders, right?

He just wanted to hit the Prince, I don't think he was thinking of anything else at that moment in time. I BELIEVE Lucius had used an AoE electric ball to hit Asher no matter what, but forgot about Octavia in the process.

Or.... he believed Asher wanted the princess bad enough that he qouldnt even consider letting the attack get near her, and sacrifice himself to keep her safe by taking the attack to the face

Lucius wouldn't take the chance. He has no idea why Octavia was captured, only that she was. Even if he DID know, he wouldn't take the chance of hurting his precious angel.

So how does the sword work? Does it numb the area it hits so much that the victim is unable to use it, or does it attack the 'soul', of the area?
Edit: Never mind. Would a stimulant allow Aurora to use her wing/ leg again?

Alright from my perspective this clearing is large. Lucius entered it on the opposite side from where Octavia is. He fired the first bolt of lightning and hit the skeleton because that small ball of lightning is intended for range. Then Asher comes at him, Lucius is still at the edge of the forest, facing the clearing. he dodges out of the way but gets cut. I don't really know where Asher is going to be so I left it vague. And then, if it does hit the ground, which is probably will, and depending where- it will explode like a bubble sending electrical shock waves in a small area.

So yeah, I would say Lucius knows the limitations of his powers and the effect that it will have, he would not have done that if he was close to Octavia or realizes that she could get caught in the blast.

@RiverMaiden It attacks the soul in that part of the body meaning the sufferer lacks the animus to use it properly. Aurora effectively has a dead wing and dead leg in the literal meaning of the word except they aren't going to fall off or start rotting and are in fact physically fine.

In order to regain use of them you'd need something to restore the soul, a stimulant for the physical body wouldn't be of any use as the blade can't do any physical damage.

Do you ever sleep on your arm a certain way and when you wake up, it won't move for about 5-10 minutes? It's basically the same thing except the time that it will take for the limb to "wake up" quite a bit longer. That said, if it is a vital organ like the brain or heart, it can result in death.

Hope that sheds some light on the subject ^^

Oh thank god. I was really worried I was gonna have to make Naya pass out again, which just sounds awful!

Lets face it, if Naya loses conciousness again then she has essentially become a fainting goat.

Ah, alright. I was going to have Aurora block the lightning from hitting Octavia, taking damage from the attack but regaining function of her limbs. However, Lord Vee has restated the distances, and the new info I just got from you made that idea completely asinine. Time to rewrite XD

I think Ace's description sort of works to explain better what I mean by dead but not actually dead. Like Ace said Aurora will recover in time as the soul will heal itself like the physical body, it'll just take a damn long time. The same way a body heals faster with medicine rather than leaving it to its own devices. With regards to the critical organs it's a similar thing, theoretically the spirit could recover and restore animus to the organ that has been afflicted. But since you need a heart to be beating and a brain to be thinking to stop death, someone hit there would die before their soul could recover to restore the organ affected.

The explanation is essentially the same except for the cure.

So I would just say that and hopefully compromise and say that if you want a quick recovery, then go with karos' solution. However, after about a few days to a week, your soul will repair itself as the soul is essentially a bunch of energy collected into a body
