Welcome to the Music Industry
"At some point, in most people's lives, there has been a single thought of what it'd be like to be a famous Musical artist. Whether it is a second-long thought, or something dreamt about a few times, it's difficult for Modern society to not imagine on the thought of ultimate fame. Most people imagine it is just involving writing a decent song, get a load of practice and you have yourself a name in the industry of sound. Yet what happens when it becomes more than a dream? What if someone begins to settle down that thought for a goal in life, something they want to commit to and spend hours devoting their skills with the only thought of achieving something big within this world? However, some simple dream can be even harder than you think...
There's more than just a simple achievement in fame. Some are born with it...Some earn it through a breakthrough in their career, featuring on small castings and building your way up. And right now, it doesn't seem to me like you are at that stage. Look at the big names, the big stars! You have people like Darren Kelly, a legend walking among the starts of Pop-Culture fame, Bella Normanson, figured as one of the most talented voices in the female Music Industry Full-fucking-stop! And what about the groups? There's many groups out there, still achieving high places! Boybands, Girlbands, Soloists, Duets, Electronic Stars, Bands...You can make an endless list of names that are above you! So what's the plan of action from here? Quit? Shoot yourself down, not even standing up to the major difficulties that dare to stand in the way of your dream, your career? Or how about you do what you are supposed to do? Get out there...Face those challenges, no matter the cost, or difficulty. I faced that path, and many of the lesser did! You aren't the only one making this journey, and throwing it down isn't going to make anything better...When mine, Darren's, Bella's....Everyone's current career is over...I want to see you there. Whoever you are, wherever you are...Race, ethnicity, talent, age, gender...I want to see it in those lights. The stage will be your's...but that's only if you are willing to work for it." - Liam Copeland, Speech for Rising Musical Artists worldwide.
Welcome, to the world of Music! A world of accomplishment a failure, with only small movements that can make big differences. And this, is Growth. A Roleplay centred around those the Fictional Speech above was aimed at. Bands, soloists, duets and ensembles of any kind are about to begin their rise to fame, or fall from it. Based around the difficulties faced during the pathway to success, this Roleplay will focus on what struggles Characters from different, or similar, Music types face when trying to make their names recognised on a national, even international, scale. Fundings, relationships, arguments and other common issues will play a huge role in their progression, either boosting their chances, or hindering it with massive results. Becoming famous isn't exactly a cakewalk, now is it?
So, where is this set? Well, in a Fictional, Parallel Universe, in the very-near future that is still holding many traits that you do as a real-person, is the world. Still having the same countries, lands and places, with the difference of People. This Roleplay will contain people famous only to the Roleplay's lore. Every artist you know in your life has never existed in this Roleplay. Many of the songs made have never been recorded, or even written. Everything is fictional, especially with the Music Industry. Fictional Characters, songs...everything. In other-words, people like the Foo Fighters, The Beatles, etc, never had made any names due to their lack of existence. This allows song riffs, instrumentals and sometimes full songs can be used for your artist, obviously starting at a lower-ish quality to some of the larger artists. There will be many different approaches. You wouldn't likely see an Aspiring Electronic Producer doing their gigs in Pubs [As this is set i Southern England], or a Smooth-Pop Singer quietly jamming out in some Punk-Club, would you? Each genre of music has its general pathway, though closely relating to the other Characters that are going to be taking part in the Roleplay. Many of which would live relativity near one another. This can still allow heavy interactions to be made. Hell, you can even collaborate with other Roleplayers and their progressive paths to success, that is if they agree to it of course. You'll want to focus more on the lives of them rather than their performances, as that is what the whole Roleplay is about. To add to the world, over-time I'll be throwing in mini-competitions and events that you can enter your Artist into if you wish. Generic Battle of the Bands, Singing Competitions, nothing major. That'll slowly increase your rise to fame, and will give you opportunities to be boosted in the eyes and ears of recognition. You can have contractors thrown at you later in the Roleplay, A&R Scouts, Record Labels. Eventually concerts would be filled out, starting minor and hopefully building up large. Some may rise quicker than others, some will suffer the pain of life more than some of the fellow individuals. Relationships would develop with one another, some forming rivalries, and some collaborations could be made. The pathway should be rough, but that's the way it always is for anything, really.
The Character Sheet
So, here's the Character Sheet to follow. You won't have to completely fill out anything 100% like how it is presented. It can be decorated, changed and altered to how you see fit, as long as the important details and required parts are still included. You can merge a few segments together if you wish, but from there it should roughly be like this, information wise.
The Rules
The Rules here will go by a Strike System. If you were to oppose these rules, or do something that combats the set rules, then it'll result in a Strike, after one or two warnings. Depending on the level of breach, you'd generally go out on a Third Strike. This system is used to sort of eliminate people who aren't cooperating when addressed to.
1. The OOC is not a war ground. I've put this as the top Rule as some Roleplays previously made by myself have indeed been shut down because of massive disagreement and arguments that have taken place within the OOC. It makes things impossible to catch up on, proves to be irritating beyond my level of irritation [Couldn't of picked a worse way to word that]. If you are going to argue about whatever subject, please take it to the PM. It's better to have a friendly OOC than one filled with unnecessary callouts towards one another. If you have any concerns about another Roleplayer, inform me of it. I'd rather have someone tell me if they are having issues even in PM rather than dragging it over. If you can, please provide evidence so I can see what your argument says is true.
2. My word is law...Though that doesn't mean you can oppose it in a FRIENDLY manner.
3. Creating Characters...Please be reasonable. I like to use that word a lot, and have refrained from using it up until this point. Make them less than perfect. Not everyone has to like them, and their career can't just be success after success with minimal suffering. Remember how you aren't supposed to win literally everything, and there will be some major flaws in your progress, if that makes sense? But yeah...Likeable isn't a necessity, though you can be have a nicer character, of course. Also, characters will not be placed into the Character Tab until I've allowed them.
4. Is there a problem? Inform me either in the OOC or with PM, if the situation isn't a public discussion. I will try to resolve it in the best way I can, at least in my eyes, whether it is about my role as a GM or someone else's activity.
5. You are allowed to have lives, and stuff. If you have a problem in the Real world that you need to go for, do it. I'm not going to use some crappy Roleplay to hold you back with your life. However, there is one thing I ask for in return. If you could at least inform us in the OOC of your absence, beforehand if possible, with the reason, then it's perfectly fine. Your character may have to be handed over to someone else if there is an engagement that needs to be finished until they are out of the way, but this depends on your time of absence.. We will not try to ruin anything in your character, but it would only be used for simple things like finishing dialogue to keep someone else from being held back. When you get back, or the dialogue has been finished, you will get all the rights back to controlling your Character. This may seem a bit unfair in some-aspects, but it is for the greater good of keeping others from not moving onwards.
6. Interactions are fun, aren't they. However, here's just a clarification. You can literally do anything, besides killing one another obviously, during the Roleplay. You want to talk to someone, try and get into a conversation, or maybe you want to get your characters into a mutual love-hate sorta relationship...Fine by me. However, do not force someone into something with an unnecessary topic or no logic. You can start conversations with people and stuff during multiple scenes just out of the blue, but that doesn't also add up to interrupting other's without permission. You want in on a conversation? Ask, bitch.
7. Breaching the rules is not fun. Once I've finally decided that you've been too much of a hassle, I will remove you. By me removing you, I mean I give control of your character over to someone else, or everyone, and we get to decide what happens with them. If you refuse, I know a few people who can get you out of the Roleplay without much effort, so don't try to play that route. However, if you wish to leave the Roleplay at any point, please let me know. Before you leave, we can talk about who you want to control your character, as well as what fate you want for them. We can decide for a better future for your character at this point too.
8. Just because the Roleplay has started, does it mean it is closed. The Roleplay is closed when I say it is. If we start the Roleplay, then other's can join with permission. I'll obviously have a limit at some point, but this is generally open [To some extent] for more applications. Therefore, we can still have a flow of Roleplayers being added in, adding new Music Performers to the race to the top.
