@lovely complex I haven't watched or read the series (but want to) so I can't say if they've done a good job executing death. I'm not saying a show that is death driven can't be good, I just don't think they tend to be...

As a fan, I hate George R.R. Martin because he has killed some of my favorite characters. T.T As a writer, I admire him. The guy has a unique chapter format that is unique to him, and he has a way to make you care for the characters he has created only to make you curse him out because he killed them. That fucking fucky fucker. ><

Just so you know, any attempts to analyse GoT to me will be met with me going "All I know from that show is it made people like Peter Dinklage because these plebs never watched The Station Agent which is fantastic"

But also yes, time to flex that useless film studies degree. Flexin' it all.

@Altered Tundra I don't actually watch television on a television. My television these days is 90 percent Netflix, five percent DramaFever/KSHOW and five percent incriminating.

Never quite understood the fascination about Kdramas. They never did appeal to me one bit. Only thing they have going for them is the fact that they're Korean.

You want to know a bad plot-driven show? Walking. Dead. It's fucking trash.

Fucking word. Everything with zombies is trash though so eh.

I can't say anything about Clarke but I hate the CW for how they portray LGBT characters. Why are the only females that like other females both have to be hot and make out? Why can't there be a gay character that's well developed and not only used for comic relief? So even if their intentions are honest, I'm still skeptical about why they made Clarke with Lexa.

I mean there's Miller and Brian but I wouldn't call them well developed. It's something I guess? And I'll take something over nothing in most cases.

Maybe since fiction isn't really your thing, you tend to be more big picture and that's why you prefer plot-driven, because you rarely care for an individual character's story.

Science fiction is my thing is the thing. Fantasy isn't my thing. But I routinely watch all of Farscape. I'm versed in the Honorverse. Science fiction and I are tight.

Because everything basically becomes pointless and you're just as bad as action movies that are just explosions and one liners (Michael Bay movies, a lot of popular superhero movies, etc).

Well to be fair, superhero movies are pretty pointless but at least they usually know what they are. They are not great movies and I want the bubble to burst but they're inoffensive. Usually.

Okay but after only watching the first season, the L Word's just plain trash.

It actually got watchable in the second and half of the third seasons but it was one of those shows that was of its time. I have a fondness for it like some people have a fondness for Sex and the City. I'll never defend it as a show worth watching, but it's absolutely a guilty pleasure of mine, much like a Gossip Girl or any given reality program.

How do you think I feel? I still don't know why I go in for Kdramas but I just do. THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME SCENARIO BUT I LOVE THEM ANYWAY.

@HalfOfLancelot Okay yeah but those are all comedies which focus on the comedy more than anything so it's not necessary to have a plot. But hey, don't drag on the Office. That was an amazing show. I know someone here who will FIGHT you for thinking otherwise.

Oh no, I'm not like a rage demon of hate if you like a NOTP. I'll judge you a little since people who tend to like that ship are similar and try to observe and see if you have those traits but I'm totally cool with it being your OTP. I just want to debate it and see why you like it. Yeah, I'm not for that either but at the same time I'm not for anti-hetero shipping either.

Oh, aha, I try to stay away from the dynamic of some fandoms and their shipping - I know there are some hardcore people out there hardcore people.

But, my big ships are probably Dean/Cas from Supernatural and Steve/Bucky from Cap'n 'Murica. I can definitely give you a power point presentation as to why I ship them. I actually have a lot of lowkey Marvel ships, now that I think about it. And there's one more that's making me wanna tear my hair out because I can't think of it. I also probably only really have one NOTP, but I don't judge anyone who ships it. People like what they like. side note someone should definitely get into shipping Hanzo/Mcree from Overwatch with me.

This is aggravating me. I know for a fact I have another OTP that I scream about at least on a weekly basis.

Anyway, I grew up with The Office. That's weird to say. I'm 21, but still. ;3; It was the first show to make me legit sob tho. Jim/Pam was my first foray into shipping too even though I didn't get into it like I normally do nowadays.

That's like me and American(I'm American) Teen Dramas. All have very, very similar character archetypes, but I keep watching them because I'm a dirty little slut.

@Fabricant451I feel like I pegged you for a Sci-Fi nerd the moment I saw Bae Doona as your avatar the first time I ever met you like a long time ago on a different account.

Cloud Atlas fucked me up man. It. Fucked. Me. Up.

@Altered Tundra I'm not sure how'd I feel if one of my favorites got killed but done in the correct way since all of them have died in the worst writing possible by shit shows but I'd like to think I'd be okay with it. Also, after seeing the new Suicide Squad trailer, I think I just got ten times more excited for it because it looks like it's going to flesh out ALL the characters rather than just the popular ones and I'm so happy that they're not just going to take the lazy route knowing this movie's going to make money no matter what and just put funny lines and action.

@HalfofLancelot Edit: May I request knowing your 3 OTPs? I'd love to totally discuss why you love them and what makes them so precious to you and if you want, I'd tell you mine. We can do this in private if you want. *Strokes chest.*

I've been a shipper since I was born. Not like I knew what it was but I did know that I wanted certain people to get together for certain reasons. Oh yeah, let's be real, Jam is such a beautiful OTP. I think I usually start out as a casual multishipper and then I get a NOTP and then an OTP in a series. I don't think I'll have certain ones that reign supreme over all the other OTPs but I probably have a relationship I like in each media I've watched. And it's funny because they all don't have anything in common. Yay.

@Fabricant451 Haven't gotten a chance to play or watch the walkthrough but from the amount I know, The Last of Us seems amazing.
Yeah, I get your point but for me if the intentions aren't well then it feels worse accepting it.
Science fiction is so not my thing but is it the science possibility aspect of it that interests you?
I guess I'm too young and ideal to accept "progressive for its time" as accommodation. To me it's just bad or good with props in some aspects. Like you're a bad show but I give you this or you're a good show but you fucked this up.

@reiko

I mean, I think @Liriia can confirm I've been just utter Steve/Bucky trash for at least 3 months now. Just. Utter. Trash.

Then there's that year long drought of just me reading Dean/Cas fanfiction. Literally a year. Literally. An. Entire. Year.

I CAN'T THINK OF THE THIRD ONE THOUGH AND IT'S MAKING ME MADDDDDDDDDDDD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

EDIT: I FIGURED IT OUT. I'M EGGSY/HARRY (HARTWIN) TRASH. GOD HOW COULD I FORGET THAT.

@HalfOfLancelot The avatar and the username, yeah. Cloud Atlas was like my obsession after loving the book and hearing about the movie. I had already been the biggest Bae Doona fan in the state (who will challenge me, no one that's who) so seeing her in an actual movie in an American theater was like the greatest three hours of my little life.

But yeah, sci fi all day.

@reiko The Last of Us is like...I feel like I'm blaspheming when I say that playing that game was a bad experience because it's not a good game to play but you play it anyway because there's a handful of alright moments. Like I did not like playing that game at all, and not in the way they probably intended.

I mean, I just like science fiction because I really like space. It might've been because as a kid I watched Star Trek but I've always just been fascinated with sci fi settings, especially ones that are set in the near future rather than straight up pure white space base future. Space is so cool. There need to be more good space movies.

@reiko I have no doubt that Suicide Squad will deliver big time. Been sold on Jared Leto's Joker since I first saw the first trailer, and everything else sold me on it as time passed. I'm really looking forward to Diablo. Didn't think I would, but I'm liking his stark contrast they showed in the most recent trailer.

Okay, unpopular opinion, but I actually like Jupiter Ascending and probably because it was all so cringey. Like a really bad movie, but that's what makes it good? I don't know. It was just all so... over the top farfetched that I loved the shit out of it.

Anyway. YEAH. THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE AMAZING SPACE MOVIES. The Martian made me scream. I'll wax poetic about Alien and Aliens (but not Alien 3 or Alien: Requiem because they were awful. I watched all 4 in one sitting with some friends and it was hilariously bad. 3 and 4 don't exist in my headcanon. They got their happy ending in Aliens). I'm a Star Wars nerd and I'm going to sit down one week and do nothing but watch Star Trek because I know that shit's gonna get me in good.

Confirmed.

EDIT: Have any of you ever indulged in Filipino dramas? My grandmother loves them and they're so... so... so weird. So weird.

@Fabricant451 I'm not a gamer at all so I can't understand that sentiment. I just really love the execution of the characters. *Shot.*
Yeah, that could be a reason why you like sci-fi. I don't have any interest in technology or science or space but I love fiction that's so completely out of this realm you can do whatever you want with it.

@Altered Tundra Exactly. I'm calling it: he probably doesn't like his powers because he's hurt somebody he cares with it because before he had anger issues and when he burst his powers activated and probably hurt them and he's been regretful ever since and wants to find a way to reign his anger so it doesn't happen again and sees his power as a curse. Bonus: he was probably a drunk before too.

@Fabricant451 Okay, no offense but if you didn't know that BvS was going to be bad, you're probably hella impressionable. I mean MoS was already a forewarning.

I watched BvS because I like staring at Henry Cavill's chest and face. I was not disappointed in those regards. Worth 20 bucks to see? No. But that's why I have a friend who's a manager at the theatre in my town. AhahaHA!

@reiko I knew BvS was going to be bad because Zack Snyder is a hack director.

I just didn't know how bad it was going to be.

But then I am that person that assumes all super hero movies will be bad. But BvS was especially so

OMG JUPITER ASCENDING IS A GREAT MOVIE

but in all seriousness. I literally facepalmed throughout the entire film when I went to see it with my friends in a theater with other college kids. I literally couldn't handle it, it was an amazing experience. I would watch it again. Because of how cringe worthy it was.

I mean, let's not get carried away here. Eddie Redmayne chewing the scenery, though, that's worth a ticket.

Can't believe dude won an Oscar for Theory of Everything it's like did they see Jupiter Ascending
