That one concept you've been dying to use in an RP for forever, but for one reason or another, never got to use yet! lol

If you're ever disappointed, it's okay. All will be well. :) Let that bittersweet sting motivate you to create something wonderful.

Going on an indefinite hiatus from this site due to burnout, mental fatigue, and long working hours. Thanks everyone for the amazing RPs I've been in over these many months!
DAY 1 《》 STEELWATER [Ground - UDF Portable Research Station] 《》 Late Morning 《》 @Aeolian
▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇
RECAP: Last we saw Dr. Isolde Featherswallow (Lady of Shadows), she was in the UDF Portable Research Station, east of a now besieged Steelwater. Inside the domed enclosure were medical staff tending to injured soldiers and civilians who hadn't perished in the city or in the throngs of war. There was also ResDiv personnel conducting sensitive research. Within this station was a special room that housed people who had been infected by the stigma, their health deteriorating rapidly by a deathly fever.
Only Dr. Poole, Isolde, and the last remaining infection specialist could access this special room (the other infection specialists had died during the last relocation of the UDF PRS). With only a few fever agents on hand (thanks to Dr. Featherswallow) and no duplicator to quickly reproduce them, Isolde and her small team went to work on the time-consuming task of manually making more--time they did not have to spare. Accuracy and urgency were key to achieving the outcome that Isolde sought after.
UDF soldiers stood guard on all sides of the dome in case stigma made it through. Marcus, Isolde's son and bodyguard, joined them in duty.
Now, let's continue. ---
Isolde walked with purpose. Despite the chaos of the situation, she seemed poised, calm even. Not a glisten of sweat licked her skin. Had it not been for the moans of pained soldiers or the beeping of equipment, you'd of thought she was walking down a red carpet. It was a shocking scene, truly, the difference in her step compared to the fervent movements of Dr. Poole or the timid scurrying of Oerba (Isolde's assistant).
After entering the special Infection Room, a woman tending to one of the infected patients approached them. Dr. Poole, still riled up from everything, gestured to her. "This is Dr. Helen Khan, our last infection specialist. I don't know how I would have managed without her." Dr. Khan put out her hand for a shake and when she did not receive one in turn, she gave Isolde a brief glare and then dropped her hands and settled for clasping them together instead.
Isolde gazed at the woman with no particular interest, surveying her up and down. "Their condition?" Isolde began, ignoring formalities. Dr. Helen let out a deep breath, "Bleak, but manageable, for now." They moved toward one of the patients and Isolde followed. The patient was unconscious but breathing heavily, their form soaked in a fever sweat so unnatural and severe that it couldn't possibly have been caused by something from the natural world. One after another, they moved to each patient and Dr. Khan informed Isolde about their current condition. Some were far more along in the fever than others and though she did not say it aloud, Isolde knew some of them would not make it to inoculation. Time just was not on their side. This was a pill that Isolde found easy to swallow, but Dr. Khan was presently fatigued, her essence weighed down by the inevitable reality that she knew to be true as well. But Isolde, never smothered by the death of others, simply turned to Oerba and a medic Dr. Poole had pulled into the room.
"Administer the remaining fever agents to the patients who are in the poorest condition". As if on cue, Dr. Khan stepped forward and handed Oerba a list of the patients to tend to first, each one designated by a number. Oerba's hands were shaking as she looked over the list, clearly unnerved to be in such close proximity to the infected. The medic sympathetically placed a hand on Oerba's arm to calm her quivering and nodded, "We'll handle it. But what about the remaining patients?"
Before Isolde could respond, Dr. Khan cut in, earning her a sideways look from Isolde. "Just focus on your task at hand." The medic nodded to them and then looked to Oerba, pulling her along, "Come. Don't be nervous. I'll show you how to do it". Oerba looked back to Isolde, nervousness twisting her countenance. Isolde gave Oerba a commanding nod and then looked to Dr. Khan and Dr. Poole.
"I think it needs to be said--some of these patients won't make it." Isolde stated matter of factly.
Dr. Khan scrunched up her face, annoyed at Isolde's bluntness. "But we'll try to save them all if possible."
"It's not."
The two women glared at each other, invisible electricity sparking between them. Dr. Poole, jumping up and down in his lab coat, interrupted their staring contest by grunting loudly. "Ehh ermm. I've..ummm...I've prepared the necessary materials to begin fever agent production." He shifted his glasses and then gestured toward the aforementioned resources and materials lumped on the other side of the Infection Room. "Now all we need are six hands, three brilliant minds, and some teamwork to get them ready." Both women looked at Dr. Poole, then back to each other, and then nodded, relenting.
As they began working, Dr. Poole, equal parts anxious as he was giddy, shifted his glasses nervously. He looked at Isolde, then back to this work, then back to Isolde and then back to this work again. He did this a few more times until Isolde noticed him out of her peripherals. She rolled her eyes and then gave him her attention as though he were a pesky child. "Yes?" she inquired, peeved at his interruption. Dr. Poole was trying to stifle his inner fanboy, unsuccessfully of course.
"I'm an admirer. Truly. I've been following your work for years. The last journal published about your progress in finding a cure...nothing short of pure genius."
Isolde couldn't help but smile. She loved compliments.
But Dr. Khan snorted, unimpressed.
Isolde looked at the infection specialist, raising an eyebrow. "Deary, do you have something to add?"
In truth, Dr. Khan did. But she knew of Isolde's ranking and reputation, and she was highly outclassed. She was very much aware of their gap in the hierarchy. One word to the UDF higher ups and Isolde could have her position terminated. She was petty like that. But most of all, she knew Dr. Featherswallow was an Aeon, and that simple nugget of knowledge scared her more than the idea of getting fired or even the rumors in the Emberletter tabloids. Dr. Khan, with all the strength she could muster, bit her tongue and simply shook her head.
A cheeky grin settled onto Isolde's plush lips, satisfaction filling her. She enjoyed it when people knew their place without her having to expressly state the obvious. It meant the structure of the hierarchy was well-intact, and she thrived on it.
But for now, a heavy silence settled between them once again and they continued working.
In the distance, a sonorous rumbling could be felt under their soles. Something large and scary loomed. Whatever it was, Isolde got the feeling that its destruction was pivotal to their continued survival.

SummaryInside the UDF Portable Research Station, Isolde, along with the help of Dr. Poole and infection specialist Dr. Helen Khan, have begun manual production of additional fever agents to try and reduce the fever in patient's infected with the stigma. Not all will survive. Oerba, Isolde's assistant, along with a medic, are dispensing what current supplies they have. Dr. Poole admires Isolde, while Dr. Khan and she very obviously do not get along.
Appearance: Hope is a young man with a mystical beauty that makes him appear somewhat otherworldly and fairy-like. For a man, Hope isn't very tall, standing at about 5'5". Coupled with his slight and delicate frame, he's often mistaken for a woman. Surely his long pink hair, thick curly eyelashes, and sparkling blue eyes don't help with this assumption. Even his voice, while not overtly feminine, is soft and airy. Because he looks so fragile, other people sometimes feel like they need to protect him, forgetting that he is still a knight and is perfectly capable of defending himself. Because of his renowned beauty within the Iron Roses, he tends to get courted often, by men and women.
Personality: There is something mysterious about Hope, from his wistful gaze to his longing expressions. He is a soft-spoken individual who rarely ever leans on either extreme of the personality spectrum. He's pragmatic, kind-hearted, demure, dreamy, and tends to think things through before making any hasty decisions. This unnatural patience and calm disposition can make him appear mystical and wise beyond his years. People who meet him say he is really lovely to be around, with a motherly sensibility that drives him to show affection and compassion to others, encouraging and caring for their needs along the way. People sometimes view him as a mother-like figure. However, people tend to underestimate him because of his effeminate personality and delicate flower looks. But he's not naive like people think. Hope is incredibly perceptive of the environment around him, capable of using his intelligence to overcome situations where his brawn may be lacking. Some may notice though, a strange sadness in his eyes, one that masks a hidden pain from his past.
Brief Backstory: As the fifth of eight siblings, Hope was born into the House of Yulestarian and lived his entire life within the capital city of Aimlenn. Though the Yulestarians weren't a noble family or part of the aristocracy, they owned and operated a popular bathhouse within the city (The Yulestarian Bathhouse) and were highly respected for their charity and volunteer work. This family, however, was unique, having produced a long line of powerful Magi (Summoners specifically) every 50 years. The current Magi (Hope's mother) would always teach their magic to the new Magi, so long as they showed the capacity for it. Hope was the next one in line to inherit this magical talent.
For a long time, Hope admired the Queen, seeing her as a regal and noble figure, who, despite her position, displayed wisdom and care for her people. In many ways, The Queen reminded him of his own mother, a woman who Hope really looked up to and tried to emulate. Not only looking like her, but taking after her personality as well, motherly and gentle. Whenever his mother went away, "on a job", Hope took over as "Lady" of the Bathhouse and home, providing the maternal needs for his father and siblings. One day, his mother never returned, and Hope fell into a deep sadness, one that punctured his heart and made him lose faith. In a way, he had embodied so much of his mother in himself, that her absence, left a hole in his being. Seeing Hope spiraling in his despondency, his father, not sure what else to do, sent him to a Mage college where he could hone his magic and perhaps, rediscover his own identity, one not completely reliant on his mother.
After graduating at the top of his class, Hope sought out humanitarian work. Despite living in the big and beautiful capital city, there was immense inequality and poverty, with the aristocracy and nobles living luxurious lives, while the ton suffered. It pained him to see people struggling to eat or orphans begging for pieces on the streets. Unable to resist the call, he used his magic to help people, aiding the sick, cooking food for the children at the orphanage, continuing to help run the bathhouse, and doing what he could to stop some of the local crime. Eventually, he would get noticed for his magical capabilities, and be invited to join the Iron Roses.
But with his mother still missing, there is a hole in his heart that has yet to be filled, an everlasting pain simmering within. Hope still has faith though. He believes that his mother is still alive and he want's to uncover what became of her. Even his father doesn't know. Some day soon, he hopes to go out into the world and find his mother.
Equipment: Hope is probably one of the weakest hand-to-hand combatants on the team, mostly using his magic in combat situations. He still does possess some skill in melee, and if necessary, wields an ornate rapier. But he keeps his rapier sheathed inside a parasol, only pulling it out when he is truly backed in a corner and cannot rely on his magic.
Skills: Due to his upbringing, Hope is heavily reliant on his magic. He specializes in summoning magic thanks to the training he received from his mother, a magic that allows him to summon a variety of magical spirits to do his bidding. Some of his summons are combat-focused, while others provide supportive and utility-based benefits. He also drains mana the longer his summons are out. Stronger summons require more mana to maintain, and therefore, he cannot keep them out as long as weaker ones.
Crateris: Crateris is a spirit that appears as a floating sentient teacup on a saucer. It has a face and a chip on its rim. Crateris is a great conversationalist but can be a little too chatty. It can fill itself up with any kind of drink that the mage desires.
Norma: Norma is a spirit that appears as a young woman wearing a dress and a hat. Norma create doors on solid surfaces, allowing people to walk through the door on one side of a structure and walk through another door to come out on the opposite side of that structure.
Yahoel: Yahoel is an angelic winged spirit that can create a blinding and destructive flash of light, or, when washing the light over allies, it cures them of sadness and pain, though the effect is only temporary. This summon can also shoot its feathers as projectiles.
Kalaziel: Kalaziel is another angelic winged spirit with a translucent body and a visible beating heart. It can harden its skin to become more durable and use it's hardened wings as sharp weapons for melee attacks or blocking attacks.
Cetu: Cetu is a stumpy humanoid cat-like spirit, with glasses, robes, and a staff. Cetu can use its staff to shoot magical energy or as a blunt weapon. Like a cat, this spirit is really nimble and agile, and can use the magic of its staff to divine for lost objects and ordinate it's location to find its way and where it needs to go, like a compass.
Namino: Namino is a child-like spirit, fully clothed and floating about leisurely. While it has no combat capabilities, it very shy around strangers. It also has an angelic singing voice, often likes to help with chores, and can float through walls like a ghost. If you treat this spirit well, every once in a while, it may reward you with a small gift, like a coin or a tasty treat (nothing major though).
While in Mage College, Hope also learned defensive magic, specializing in magic that allows him to create protective force fields and barriers.
Hope is also good at baking, cooking, singing, drawing and painting. He has a photographic memory and incredible facial recognition. After only seeing someone's face once, he can almost always recognize them again. He also possesses the uncanny ability to fall asleep anywhere and in the strangest positions.
1. Reduced the other magics to just the protective forcefields/barriers (what Hope learned at Mage college). 2. Added another non-combat summon (cannot be used in fights). 3. Added an armour reference (realized I was missing one).

Brief Backstory: The Yulestarian family was neither rich or poor, royal or peasant. Hope, as the fifth of eight siblings, was born into this unique house that originated from a coastal city located far off from the capital of Aimlenn. In this city, called Leannan, famous for its crystal waters and beautiful rose gardens, there was no class system, as the culture of Leannan's people found that the proceeding inequality that came from a class system bred poverty and injustice. Therefore, everyone in the city lived on equal footing, helping each other where they could and creating a culture that generated very little crime or violence.
Despite there not being an official heirarchy in Leannan, the townsfolk highly respected the House of Yulestarian, who were appointed to manage the city and its people and ensure everything functioned as it should. This family, however, was unique, having produced a long line of powerful Magi (summoners specifically) every 50-years. The current Magi would always teach their magic to the new Magi, so long as they showed the capacity for it. Hope was the next one in line to inherit this magical talent, and whenever a Summoner in the city was born, they would take on a sort of idol role, someone who the townsfolk often saw as the next reincarnation of Goddess Mayon. This wasn't true of course, but that was their belief and tradition.
However, what the townsfolk didn't see was that Hope's parent's often manipulated him into using his magic to do terrible things. And when he tried to resist, they would hurt him. With the help of some of his siblings, Hope escaped from Leannan in the thick of night and took up residence in Aimlenn. Despite being a beautiful city, there was poverty and it pained him to see people struggling to eat or orphans begging for pieces. Unable to resist the call, he began using his magic to help people, healing the sick, cooking food for the children at the orphanage, and doing what he could to stop some of the local crime. Eventually, he would get noticed for his magical capabilities, and be invited to join the Iron Roses.
Unfortunately, Hope may not have seen the last of his abusive parents.

He still does possess some skill in melee, and if necessary, wields an ornate floral-themed rapier. But he keeps his rapier sheathed inside a parasol, only pulling it out when he is truly backed in a corner and cannot rely on his magic.
Skills: Due to his upbringing, Hope is heavily reliant on his magic. He specializes in summoning magic, a magic that allows him to summon a variety of magical entities and beasts to do his bidding. Some of his summons are combat-focused, while others provide supportive and utility-based benefits. And some of them are just for fun, like a floating talking teacup. He also possesses other support-based magic that allows him to heal others, create protective forcefields, and put others to sleep. With his summoning magic, he can also conjure up a pair of butterfly-shaped wings on his back, allowing him to fly (until he runs out of mana). He also drains mana the longer his summons are out. Stronger summons require more mana to maintain, and therefore, he cannot keep them out as long as weaker ones.
Hope is also good at baking, cooking, singing, swimming, and painting. He also has the uncanny skill to fall asleep anywhere and in the strangest positions.
