Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Your character is approved, you may move it to the Characters tab and begin whenever you like. Very thorough, I like. 👍

The Hitchhiker

Reno had made it to the city's edge, and was stopping to plot a course home. That's when he heard it.

The shriek was barely audible over the sound of traffic behind him and through his helmet, but it was just enough. Reno turned around and saw the little Litwick.

"What in the world? Where did you come from little one?"
I understand that it's Christmas and would not feel neglected if you didn't post for a couple days

Nice. Yeah, my niece went to bed late and still managed to wake everyone up early to open presents. Lol
@Zanavy

That was a very smooth way of arranging a meeting for our characters. 😂

I'm driving home for Christmas right now. Tonight after everyone goes to bed, or tomorrow before everyone wakes up, I'll get a post up.
@Zanavy
I love your character sheet. I can see how much thought you put into it.

Feel free to move your character sheet to the Characters tab and post in the IC tab, whenever you like.
Thanks for that, buuuut after writing my character sheet I realized I was triggering myself and maybe shouldn't play that character I worked on for like 1.5 hours. ^_^' New character plan on the way. I'll use cities that have already been mentioned.

I do like the "fishy missions" idea, though, and maybe we could use that as a plot point later.

Take your time. I'm in no rush.

And yes, I like the "fishy missions" idea as well. I'm thinking that the head of the Pokemon Association or someone higher up in the association is corrupt. There will also be a "bad guy" team as well, and the corruption in the Pokemon Association might even be linked to that "bad guy" team.
@Zanavy You could also pick any non-legendary, non-mythical, non-ultrabeast, non-fossil, Pokemon to be your second Pokemon, because while your character was a "trainer" she could have went anywhere in the world for free. While on her first assignment, she could have discovered the thing that turned her off to being a trainer.

@Balthazar007 Ok, I'm mostly done with a character sheet and will be done tonight or tomorrow. The background ended up being a long story, haha... sorry.

Which starter Pokemon would be available in Baltimore?

Yamask is intriguing me but no confirmations yet.

Bulbasaur, Fennekin, Totodile would be the starters.

And Yamask is cool, but the choice is yours.
@Balthazar007 Hi! It looks like you're roleplaying by yourself, and that's kinda sad. I think I'll try to join. I have a few questions.

1. What Pokemon are around Baltimore, Maryland, United States?
2. What is a reasonable chronological age for someone to go to college in this world, and what age would they look like?
3. You originally said we could have trainers of any level. Could my trainer start with two Pokemon, both around level 10? It would show that she's had Pokemon for a little longer than Reno, but it wouldn't take long to catch up.

I plan to have a character originally from Baltimore but starting college in TN, so she will have a reason to run into Reno. She will be just starting to give up on her "childish dream" of becoming a Pokemon Trainer and aiming for a "real career," unless chance encounters lead otherwise.

Edit: Oooh, idea. Would it be okay for my character to have "lost her trainer status" due to not completing requests? But she ignored multiple requests because they seemed kind of fishy? Some kind of vague villainous thing going on under the Pokemon League's nose, and nobody believed the newbie trainer. So she owns Pokemon but would have trouble doing trainer things without the League's support, thus going to college for a "real career."

Edit again: Oof, December 29 happens to be bad timing for the college idea, haha. Uhhh I'll figure something out.

Haha! Yeah, I'd love the company. First... your three original questions.

Answer 1: Pokemon in and around the greater Baltimore area: Pidgey, Psyduck, Gastly, Snubbull, Gulpin, Lunatone, Shuppet, Drilbur, Yamask, Litwick, Clauncher, Klefki, Pumpkaboo, Togedemaru. As long as you're in the north east, these Pokemon will be generally the same. Also, the more experienced a trainer your playing as, the more Pokemon will show up in your search.

Answer 2: I would say that going to college and becoming a trainer would happen around the same age. Becoming a trainer is basically an alternative route to going to college. Therefore, the average age for college would also be 30 (yet still looking around 10). If you don't like the idea of being a younger looking character, I don't see why they wouldn't have optional growth pills that temporarily help people age faster. These would be available, after you are at least 20 years old (and looking about 7 years old).

Answer 3: Yes, she can have level 10 Pokemon, just as you were thinking.

I like the college idea for your character. And yes, this time of year there would be no school, but maybe she is starting in the spring semester?

Turning of the Century

Renu walked out of the Lab and onto the street. Mid afternoon sun was still shining, the streets were bustling with people, and in his vest pocket, he was holding his first ever Pokemon, Fennekin, inside her Pokeball. It was overwhelming. He could go anywhere in the world now. He could do anything he wanted, but he honestly hadn't planned this far ahead. So he pulled out his phone and called home. His mother would be at work around this time of day, but his dad should be home.

To his surprise, it was his mom that answered. "So... how did it go!?" That was just like her, straight to the point.

"I passed." Renu answered calmly, but the smile on his face betrayed his voice, not that the video on his phone was turned on.

That didn't matter though. His mom could hear the excitement he was trying to contain. "Bryan!" She yelled, calling out to Renu's dad. "Renu passed his trainer exam!"

Mr. Kelly's voice was clear, if a little quiet, since he wasn't the one holding the phone. "Tell him to come back home. I wanna see his starter Pokemon. Which one did he pick?"

Renu answered before his mom had time to relay the message. "I picked Fennekin, the fox Pokemon." Then, before the conversation could continue, he added, "Put me on speaker mom."

After a round of congratulations, Renu had to ask the question that was on his mind. "Mom, why are you home? Shouldn't you be at work?"

Mr. Kelly answered for her, "Your mom took the day off, so she would be home when you called with the good news."

Mrs. Kelly picked up where he left off. "And then the factory will be on shut down till the 4th, for New Years." Renu had almost forgot about New Years. 2100 was just around the corner, and he was now a trainer! This century would be the best century of his life!

Renu finished up the conversation as he walked back to his hover bike that was parked on the corner of the block, at a hover bike rack. Minutes later, he was back on the road (or above the road technically).

At this rate, he would be home in time for dinner.
