@Zeroth Make the cool thing your PC did fundamentally impossible without someone else's PCs. Like someone with super strength throwing your pc at a giant monster to fuck it up at point blank range.

What the fuck are you people talking about
Bio
I invented necromancy and the windmill. I beat the sun in a poker match during the summer of 1273 and God hasn't felt the same since.
This was not even remotely what Varnan was expecting to get into, tonight. But he was more than willing to deal with this regardless. Everyone was clearly ready to put this thing down and beat it into submission, him and these strangers whose town he'd come to. It really was a damn shame that Bill had been turned into this thing, or perhaps killed by it and then strung about like a puppet. Varnan raised his channeler and prepared to stop this thing where it stood.
"Two minutes? I have a plan. I'm going back in there. Don't rush yourselves, but don't waste time, either."
Varnan watched as the monster flung itself out. Ice and ash went flying. Varnan fired another Stasis Pulse at it. His body flickered for a second, and then Varnan jumped closer to the the broken window until he was only a few feet away from the imposter. And then, he clicked a button on the Timepiece, causing purple Lux to explode outwards in every direction.
A spherical field of distorted air, which pushed back against things that weren't Varnan himself. The Butterfly's Manse appeared, and he used it to try and box the creature into a corner. Varnan didn't attempt to fight it, but rather, he stood his ground. The apparition couldn't get past the edge, it couldn't push closer and try to kill Varnan once the freeze wore off, and if it tried, he'd now. Time quicky sped up inside to five times its normal pace, meaning everything outside appeared to be moving five times slower. Those two minutes for Elara and Bryn would be ten minutes for Varnan. But now, he was in a stalemate with the doppelganger. Once the Stasis Pulse wore off, "Bill" would be catapulted backwards into the shop, out of the Manse where its only options were to assail what was effectively a brick wall.
It couldn't get to him, he couldn't get to it, and it couldn't get to them.
All they had to do now was run the clock down. Though, the other two probably weren't going to feel amused when Manse shoved them away.
"We just got the advantage," Ryder announced. "I blew their lowest power system, and now they don't have access to most of their emergency systems. I'm working on breaking down what else they do have, but their cameras are telling me they're scrambling." Ryder did something the hadn't done yet, relaying the feed of Umbra's cameras over a screen in the cockpit. It showed them running around making sense of things like headless chickens. They were waving flashlights every which way, shouting by the looks of it. Though the screen was silent.
"They know I did this, or they expect that I did. Land this damn thing so we can get on with this, they're going to try meeting us if we take too long."
Inside Umbra's deeper levels, various systems that regulated the power were told to stop regulating it, which caused explosions. Wall conduits, fuses, transformers, relays- It all started frying and plunged the place deeper and deeper into pitch black nothing. Like a poison that started in the heart, and spread to the limbs. Elevators were the next to go, preventing anyone from leaving or accessing the ground floor, which Ryder and the X-Men were going to first.
Morden wasn't necessarily in the mood to stop and drink himself stupid. There were too many things going on around them to warrant that being a valid thing. If they could be somewhere quiet, then sure. But even a sleepy city like Dunbarton was still full of people, and anything from spies to Veld's men could've been right behind them at any opportunity. No, they still had work to do, like handing the ruler of their enemies to Rassvet's secret police so the process of all that could be handles, but people more equipped. Though, with Gerard's telepathy spell, it'd be easy to communicate back and forth at a distance. And two people could travel on foot much quicker than a whole truck. And naturally, Morden had a feeling the others were going to push for drinking until they dropped.
If you're going to insist on that, take us near Veld's location, Morden relayed over the mental channel. He often found it easier that speaking out loud even when right beside someone, for some reason. It would be faster than driving this vehicle through these crowds, and civilians tend to get out of the way when they see me.
Leah was not in a good position, right. She was in an okay state, but a bad place.
Ordinarily, she would've just hid in her dorm at the school, barricaded behind all the usual security measures the place had, while hiding underground in the gym where the building could be modified every which way. If these were normal circumstances, she'd just stay like that, entombed in a subterranean environment she'd eventually unmake, for everyone's protection in case dear old dad decided that this would be the day he stopped playing the long game. She had it worked down to a science by now, exactly 15 feet in every direction, 30 feet below the floor and at the furthest left corner from the front doors. Last year, she tried the right but found it a bit inconvenient during Christmas break because couldn't hear jets landing as easily. But alas, this wasn't normal circumstances.
Instead, she was sitting on a bed in She-Hulk's apartment, distracting herself with a playlist she could barely hear through the earbuds used. It was two in the morning, and she just sat there, staring at the door like the Winged Menace himself was just around the corner. They never celebrated Thanksgiving, dad didn't care for it and mom wasn't able to eat that much anyway. They didn't really do holidays in general, unless it was dad leaving for a business trip around December. But the funny thing was that everyone else did, and of course they'd all be off with their families during such a time. The ones they still had.
Leah hated these kinds of things, because it reminded her that she could've actually had something like that if her dad wasn't some fucking international supervillain. If he hadn't shot mom right in front of his daughter, or even if they lived in some twisted world where dad was actually proud of Leah for surviving his "guidance," as he'd put it.
She didn't want to be here, in this woman's home where he could crash in at any second much easier than the school. Anyone else who tried that would be stupid, but dad wasn't stupid. He was smarter than most people, stronger than them, more skilled than them, and he knew where she was. The better option, strategically, as the mansion that She-Hulk had gave her access to, but she was not going there. They'd ask questions about where she came from, because She-Hulk definitely wasn't going to keep that to herself, and Leah doubted that saying they stood a chance against him was anything other than optimistic. He'd probably take Vision to pieces, or kill Hawkeye with his own damn weapons to make it harder on himself, just to say he could.
She was tired, but she was fine enough to deal. Over the break, April wouldn't shut up, and she actually loved that for her. Whenever April texted her in particular, she'd just send something simple back to not to stop April's stream of consciousness. Yeah. I'm alive, or Apparently She-Hulk is my parent now. She was just glad that April was thinking of her, it felt nice. But beyond that, she didn't really initiate conversations. She didn't feel like it, because there was always something in the back of her mind that made this whole mess demand her attention.
"I wish you'd just come out already," Leah whispered. "So I can fucking kill you again."
No one manifested from the darkness, no one popped out and held a gun to her forehead.
"You've waited long enough, haven't you? You know where I am, or did you always know? You could've killed everyone around me to isolate me, but you didn't... So come out already and I'll make it quick. Or maybe I'll make it slower than what you did to mom. You'd deserve that..."
She blinked, slowly.
"You always told me I was a mutant, like you. But you couldn't even be straight with me about that? You stuck machines in me, and I've got fucking magic in my spine or something. That was you. And- I'm wondering just how fucking free of you I really fucking am, you piece of shit."
Leah fell back against the bed, staring up at a dark ceiling. She'd been staying up like this for days, now. "I'd been telling myself you were dead for long enough that I thought I'd get to live. Then she tells me you're not dead- I confessed to her and then she made a move on me. They- You- Fuck you. Come out and fucking fight me if you want. I'll... Kill you. Again." An irrational side of her brain, the parts she hated the most on some days, told her that if she fells asleep now, she might not wake up. But another part was taking over, deciding to knock her out.
After many, many hours straight without rest, she passed out.
Location: Avenger's Academy Skills: N/A
Leah didn't stay at the apartment long enough for She-Hulk to do or say anything parental. None of that "have fun at school" shit or any nonsense about staying here long-term. She just grabbed her things and walked out the front door, deciding to walk to get rid of the nervous energy she was trying to endure. And just in case She-Hulk (She wasn't about to use the woman's real name, they weren't familiar enough) wanted to say otherwise, Leah stuck her earbuds in and cranked the volume.
She walked all the way through Los Angeles, she was familiar enough with the layout of the city from flying on rocks that she got there in about as much time as anyone else could in a car or on a bus. She wore her usual modified version of the school's uniform, the one made to actually last a while with her hair, under her old jacket that really clashed with the aesthetic. Not that she cared about that part.
Leah got to the school itself and then pulled out her phone, walking as she did and not trying too hard to avoid running into someone. Usually, she was a big and stout enough individual that people got out of the way.
He wont kick anyone out for it. Except Arcade.
He knows better. If he does then half of the heroes in north america are going to be on the schools ass for putting people in a position where they *know* their only chance is to cheat. And someone WILL say its cheating.
At that point they have to acknowledge that the nepotism team got an unfair advantage this whole time. That looks bad.
And who the fuck gives a shit about the contest anyway. i never did, I just went along with it because it would be unfair to victoria or the rest of the team im on. no one in this school has a damn thing to prove to a bunch of stuck up, egotistical pricks whose only collective claim to fame is that theyre the kids of the old avengers.
We lose, were still heroes after this Fucking remember that, because i love both of you too much to let you hate yourselves over something like that.
Please.
Minutes later, she turned down the hallway, and walked down it, seeing April there with her friend. Mads tried helping her with the whole magic-machine-bullshit spine thing once, so they were at least cool. Leah looked a bit rough, like she also hadn't been sleeping. But she looked practically bulletproof on most days. Today was the same.
"Hey." She bent down to April's height and kissed her on the forehead. "Bine here yet?"
Amara blasted zombie after zombie, lining up her shots to hit more than one at a time with the Temple’s special ammunition. This was second nature to her, taking a shot and then spiraling around the green barriers to reposition and take another shot. Every battle came down to three things: Attrition, skill and power. The first two were Amara’s best fields, unlike the third that was often covered by Adepts. Methodical patience and precision won these types of wars, and often led to the enemy fumbling and nailing their own coffin shut.
So when the dragon appeared, and when the titan was nuked by Sycamore, she didn’t do much as flinch. She just adapted.
Fire rolled over the battlefield, and Amara was kept safe from most of it by cover. Her Kevlar armor was smoking like a bonfire, and she felt sweat start to build up under the vest she wore, but Amara was mostly fine. As was her nearest phantom, based on the fact that she didn’t feel any injuries get transferred.
Status.
Armor intact. One injured accounted for. The Cupbearer.
Amara’s head snapped around and she saw Sully crumbling on the forest floor. The fact that he was alive at all meant he must have gorged himself on the Chalice, she could barely see him between all the smoke and fire in the trees.
Help him. Now.
The phantom slung its shotgun over one shoulder and beelined towards the crispy man, smoke billowing off its armor like a meteor. It vaulted over falling trees and worked its way around the flames. Amara could feel a bullet just barely graze its waist just before it slide behind the barriers Sully was next to.
She pulled her radio out and made use of it before someone would come along and fucking melt the damn thing. She tuned it to the Aggro channel so she wouldn’t fuck anyone over on the artifact team. ”Who’s still alive out there?!” She asked, while the phantom tending to Sully pressed the Chalice into his hands and pushed him into an upright position.
”Drink deep, Cupbearer.” The phantom pressed Sully’s hand, with the Chalice in it, up against his face so all he had to do was ask it for the healing elixir.
Amara patted some embers off her arm and peaked back out to shoot again.
Veil]
The phantom raised its pistol and took shots at the undead guards immobilized by Rien’s minion. 45 ACP rounds directly to the head, which practically exploded due to the Temple’s handiwork making these bullets that much more deadly. Ruby’s suggestion was a good one, and Amara ordered it to comply from afar. So it walked over and smacked its fist against the glowing rune.
”The soldier agrees.”
The Eustis Veil went back up, ensuring the island was mostly untouched by the rain of ectoplasm.
And then the phantom topped off its shotgun, on orders to stand guard.
Artifacts]
When the monstrous dog reared its head, the phantoms already knew what they were going to do, because Amara was in their heads. One of them holstered a gun, drew an knife, and then ran directly in front of the beast. Its intention was to distract the creature by launching itself directly onto its face and making itself the only thing there was to worry about. Like riding a bull, the phantom clambered up and made a commotion.
The other phantom fired its pistol at the beast’s foreleg.
”Move your asses, they’ll cover you.” The phantom spoke not in the usual ghostly voice, but in Amara’s. That was something she could do apparently, echoing as it was coming from an apparition. ”It gave you away, no more time for being-”
Amara’s voice cut out as there was clapping. The phantom turned and in the span of a moment, Cyrus as was gone and Adora was beating the god damn brakes off of a mobster. Taking a bit of initiative, the phantom aimed its pistol at him before he hit the ground and dropped the rest of its magazine into him.
Reloading, it carried on. ”We have taken control of the Eustis Veil. It remains until we are through, and then it is gone.”
