FYI that was a joke. She is not very hopeful at the moment.

Before I clicked on the link I was expecting this geeksofdoom.com/GoD/img/2010/10/2010-…
more than likely

@Mara you do know that does not mean every time right? You can figure it out from there. If not I guess you’ll just never know.
My thoughts: Premade characters created by the GM are a major turnoff

Now however if there is one or two characters I really like I might overlook my distaste for it, more than likely I won't read the GM made characters at all.
Also sicknesses can cause mutant genes to activate. Doesn't have to be stress from life.

She knows she is not a mutant. It's not denial of the possibility. It is factual knowledge. If she was a mutant she wouldn't be attending this school, there is a much better school she could attend if she was a mutant.

Also sickness is stress of life, in more than one ways and for more than one person.

@tobiaxI also thought stressors and other experiences triggered it as well. Oh well off to the movies.
You are right. See: 90s cartoon Cyclops, maybe other versions. Possibly Havoc.

By the by is it Havoc or Havok or Havock?

By the by I have updated my last post.
In this world the government had a super soldier program that was not a secret, corporations that have CEO/Presidents as heroes (Iron Man) & villains (Green Goblin).

So if believing the sickness gave her powers is perfectly reasonable, then the only plausible explanation is cosmic radiation, mutant, government, or corporate.

She knows she isn't a mutant and has never been in space, that only leaves government or corporate. Unless you want to create random spontaneous mutancy in nonmutants or cosmic radiation storm on Earth that somehow never made the news as legitimate & ludicrous things then be my guest.

Until you can provide a "better" option for her to believe then it is staying.
"I'm talking about the kind of freak who gets cut by a knife and the wound is gone the next morning. What did you and the others infect me with? Clearly one of you went somewhere you shouldn't have. Somewhere that is working on some super soldier bullshit or whatever. One of you was intentionally or accidentally exposed then infected the rest of us. The people responsible are going to come looking for their shit and I need to know who to keep on the look out for. I am not going to end up some corporate guinea pig." She produced the stinger on her right arm. She aimed it at the family jewels. "Did I forget to mention the kind kind of freak that produces these things sharp enough to cut a man's hand off with ease? If you want children some day I suggest you start talking before I add your shaft to the list of body parts I have cut off. Who was the first one to get sick? That person is clearly the one responsible for this."
I love that it looks like most people are gonna be good little schoolkids and go to school after getting sick and finding out they have super-powers.

For Tess it's not about being good it's about the government sponsored free meal. That and she wants to interrogate the bastards who got her sick.
My day has been crappy

Best thing about it so far is a visit to McDonald’s

Both true, regardless of whether or not they were decided initially or improvised. The spawning of heroes at random places was, as mentioned, not an initial idea and done for laughs :D As for why it happened, I won't make anything canon just yet, but you peeps can have fun and theorize, like you've already done.

My theory is the Keebler elves did it in the basement with a toothpick.
