Did I give my Gunpla too few weapons? Starting to kind of feel like it.
"Gah! When did he set all this up?" The silver Dinn got slammed by another tree log being hurled at it via some catapult set up from nearby. This was the second or third trap he had managed to trigger and now he was honestly beginning to wonder how many more would be peppered throughout this forest. All the while, energy shurikens pelted him from what seemed like random directions. The black Gunpla was constantly on the move, somehow able to mask its movements despite being a large machine. As before, the Shurikens did little actual damage. They were more for the annoyance factor than anything. Whatever it took to frustrate the target and get them to start slipping up and making mistakes.

"Whoa!!!" the silver Dinn's pilot had suddenly yelled in surprised when he found himself falling. His opponent had actually manage to set up a Gunpla-sized pitfall trap and he had fallen right in. The sharpened logs acting as spikes actually did do real damage to the Dinn, but not enough to be lethal. If he didn't know better, the pilot would swear that the Black Gunpla was just toying with him, "Why you... nobody toys with me!" at this point the pilot was switched to open comms in the hopes of intimidating his opponent.

Takatora, in his Hayabusa, waited quietly and listened as his opponent shouted in frustration. Good, his traps were doing their work. But then he heard something else.

"Guuyyys, powerful beam blast coming!"

That voice belonged to one of the players Takatora had been teamed up with. It sounded like they had hit a snag, or maybe the enemy team leader had another trick up his sleeve. Either way, Takatora made a quick decision and altered his heading. He was heading for the coast. By now, the Silver Dinn had escaped the pit and spotted Takatora and was now in hot pursuit, "Oh no you don't!" Takatora could hear the pilot say on open comms. He sounded mad as a hornet. Good, that would make it that much easier to manipulate his movements.

The White Dinn had already fired his weapon by the time the black Gunpla came bursting out of the forest. Now was when Takatora finally got a look at the massive beam weapon it had mounted on the shoulder. He paused momentarily to sheathe the red Katana. The White Dinn seemed to notice and trained the weapon on Takatora. Need to time this right. Takatora thought to himself as he heard the Silver Dinn approaching fast from behind. No way they noticed their comrade's weapon yet, not while their visuals were still obstructed by the forest trees. It took what felt like a long moment for the beam to charge, and that was when Takatora hit his boosters and shot straight up at full throttle.

The beam fired straight and forward, far too late and too slow for the pilot to adjust the aim. Unfortunately, that meant his shot ended up hitting his teammate dead on, and that was certainly more enough to vaporize the poor guy. Assuming the White Dinn was the only one left, the black Gunpla reached a metal hand to its back and grasped the hilt of its weapon. It drew, not the katana, but the large sword with it's wide blade. With its weight, the Dragon Buster was normally a slower weapon to attack with. But the Hayabusa was already airborne and could use gravity to give the blade all the speed and momentum it needed to come crashing down and hopefully cleave right through the White Dinn and its massive beam weapon. The force of the swing even sent out a small shockwave that sent waves and ripples out into the sea. Clearly the Hayabusa was a powerful Gunpla. But anyone with even a slight eye for detail could instantly tell that its pilot was not bringing out the machine's full potential. In fact it could be argued that he was actually holding it back from being as powerful as it could be.
@Renny Weren't you planning to post?
"Feeble?" Peckmon retorted once his clash with Malidramon's claws had concluded, "That's rich, coming from the Digimon who waited until we were tired and exhausted before attacking. And yet we're still holding our own. So who's really the feeble one here?" he was trying to keep Maildramon's attention on him, but it didn't seem to work. Even less so when an extremely familiar-looking attack came out of nowhere and hit Maildramon, "No way!" Peckmon recognized the attack, and he knew Raven would as well.

Speaking of Raven, the masked thief watched in stunned silence as the familiar barrage of Lion-head projectiles pelted Maildramon, "Is it...?" Raven's voice trailed. Whatever persona he was wearing up until now had temporarily washed away. Kaitou looked around hurriedly. Could it be...? Could she really be...? But his shoulders quickly sagged with disappointment. He didn't see her anywhere. And why would he? She was gone, and he'd accepted that fact long ago. But Maildramon's attention was now firmly on Leomon. And that Lightning Spear attack was no joke. So Raven clutched his Digivice and silently conveyed a plan to Peckmon who nodded in agreement.

Then, of all things, Peckmon... reverted? Yes, he reverted back to Falcomon, though not before using his speed as Peckmon to position himself next to Leomon. But like always, there was a method to this apparent madness. Falcomon had something that Peckmon didn't have, and that something would Leomon the means of avoiding the brunt of the Lightning Spear, "Shadow Screen!" Falcomon suddenly declared. He used his digital ninjutsu, but not to create illusions of himself. Instead the illusions were of Leomon. That would give the Champion adequate means to avoid the Lightning Spear for the most part. It also meant he could potentially catch Maildramon off guard with at least one of his next attacks. Falcomon and Raven could only hope that Leomon wouldn't waste it.
Ever since the battle's start, the third of the trio of solo players kept himself well hidden. A team of Dinn's trying to keep their opponent at a distance to utilize ranged combat was not the optimal scenario for this player in-particular. His jet black MG-Astray was optimized for almost constant close range combat, it's main weapons meant for slicing his opponent up into plastic chunks. That Gunpla currently lay in wait, camping out on the largest island and simply waited for an opportunity to launch an ambush. It wasn't the most glamorous strategy in the world, but it was an effective one. Pick out the most likely looking area and then camp there early on in order to set things up to be in your own favor.

This would be a lot easier if I had teammates who could tank hits and keep the enemy focused on them. Oh well.

Takatora's randomly assigned teammates were at least performing the way he needed. The setup could probably stand to be more optimized, but for the longest time he had almost complete free reign to move as he pleased throughout the largest island. This gave him a vast amount of options for preparing his attack. While his Gunpla wasn't equipped with explosive traps or mines, that didn't stop its pilot from being able to use the island's own environment to set up makeshift traps and distractions for anyone who came there. Vines used in place of rope or tripwires. Traps involving swinging logs, rocks flung via a primitive catapult system, and at least one pit trap complete with sharpened logs protruding from the bottom to act as spikes. These things may not be entirely deadly to Gunpla, but they would probably at least slow them down and - most importantly - keep the pilots distracted.

Soon enough two of the Dinns began heading toward the island. One of them looked more customized than the others, and to Takatora this may as well have been a neon sign that informed him of who the leader was. This made him the priority target. A Force's leader was the one who called the shots, altered plans and strategies on the fly during battles in progress. If they were suddenly eliminated, the remaining pilots would be put into confusion, if only temporarily. Still, such a moment of vulnerability would give this randomly selected team the chance it needed to end things in one last fell swoop. Takatora waited for the two Dinns to actually land before he made any kind of move.

Without any kind of warning, a handful of small stars made of particle energy flew out from the forest of the island. They were by no means deadly weapons. Throwing stars on their own were not effective enough to eliminate an enemy. They were, however, the perfect tools for making an opponent look one way so that the thrower could position himself elsewhere to launch a surprise attack. The stars did their job. They did minimal damage to the enemy Gunpla, who had mostly blocked them with their shields. But it got them looking in the direction Takatora wanted. From there he swung around and flew out to strike at their backs. His red Dragon Sword drawn and seemingly pulsing with electricity as the pitch black Hayabusa flew right in between the two Dinns and slicing them with the blade. The attack was not particularly strong, it wasn't supposed to be. Like the stars, it was just a means to an end. This time the end was to send a message, to make sure his opponents knew that he could strike them from any direction at will. Takatora didn't stick around and instead boosted back toward the interior of the island. If the Dinns wanted any kind of payback, then they would have no choice but to pursue into Takatora's zone full of traps and trickery.
Wtf why is everyone suddenly ganging up on Peckmon? That's the last time I come back to save your ungrateful asses.
@Renny Were the Leader and Darklink the ones who went to the island or where those two other Dinns?
Jumped on the Theme Song bandwagon:

They double as battle themes as well.

Long ago, the worlds were once together as one in what is now known as the Age of Fairy Tales. In this period, Wielders of the Keyblade used their titular weapons to safeguard the Light that protected the world. Five wielders known as the Foretellers, each one a student of the first Keyblade Master known only as the Master of Masters, started their own organizations called Unions in accordance with the Master's wishes. In time the Unions grew, and as they did so did tension between the five Foretellers. Before he mysteriously vanished, the Master of Masters mysteriously warned of a looming disaster, and a traitor among the Foretellers. This created dissent and distrust until eventually, the five unions clashed in what was later called the Keyblade War. The conflict was so destructive, so disastrous that the World was shattered and its remains scattered across the Lanes Between until they each formed new worlds. The old Keyblade Order was gone, but a new one began to blossom in its place. Situated in the Land of Departure, it is here that young Keyblade Wielders are taught the precepts and trained to strike down any who would upset the delicate balance of Light and Darkness. It is also here, at the world's center, that a powerful relic of the Age of Fairy Tales is buried. A Keyblade, known only as the X-Blade. It is said that this weapon was what the Unions originally fought over. The blade itself is broken, much like the original world, shattered into twenty pieces: 7 of Light and 13 of Darkness. It is in the Land of Departure that two Keyblade Masters each train their pupils in the way of the Keyblade. But when the pieces of the X-Blade mysteriously vanish, the two Masters are unable to agree on how best to diffuse the situation. One of the Masters departs alongside his pupils and they decide to brave the dangers of the Darkness to recover the X-Blade. Meanwhile, the remaining Master tasks his pupils with tracking down the missing Master and pupils and to do everything in their power to prevent another Keyblade War from erupting.

Land of Departure ~ Past Midnight

It was a dark night, even the starry sky seemed to do little to shed light on the gloomy atmosphere. The Castle was situated on a high plateau overlooking sheer cliffs, with the only pathways being canyon paths and wooden bridges. Pillars were situated at various corners, connected by heavy looking gilded chains. Markings of the Keyblade Order adorned the paved walkways that led up a staircase to the castle itself. Normally warm and inviting, the castle almost seemed foreboding on this night instead. Figures quietly walked up the steps and to a side door leading into a little-known sub-level. One figure was clearly leading the others, as she used her appropriately Moon-shaped Keyblade to open the lock door and allow herself and her followers to enter.

Inside was almost labyrinthian, hallways that seemed to wind in endless circles. To the untrained eye, it appeared chaotic in its design, but this was very much deliberate. This passage was - by design - intended to deter intruders from retrieving the relics normally found at the center. Thankfully, the lead figure apparently new exactly which way she was going, else the group was likely to end up lost and wandering for hours. At the end of the winding labyrinth of corridors was a room, this one locked like the entrance door. It was a special lock that only one of two Keyblades were capable of opening. But like with the outside entrance, the lead figure's Keyblade happened to be one of the two blades able to open the lock. In the room was a set of pedestals. Twenty of them to be exact, situated in a circular pattern. In the center was a thick pillar adorned with many star-shaped trinkets of varying colors. The pedestals, seven of them of at least, housed shards of Light that floated above them. Each one radiating with raw power, and pure Light devoid of even the smallest hint of Darkness. The other thirteen pedestals, unfortunately, were empty. Their contents removed and their current whereabouts unknown. They were in fact the reason this group was gathered here.

The leading figure approached the center pillar and took a trinket off of it and held it for her followers to see, "Wayfinders," said Master Viper in a quick and matter-of-fact tone. She didn't want to idle for too long in this room, "Wielders of the Old Order were said to use them to stay in contact. Unbreakable connections can be created between the holders of these items. But these Wayfinders are special, they bear a secondary function. They are connected, not just with each other, but with each of the twenty pieces of the Relic. They'll prove useful to us as a means of tracking down the stolen Pieces. Come, each of you take one. You'll need them."

When everyone had a Wayfinder, Master Viper led them back out to the Outer Courtyard, "I ask a lot of you, my pupils. I know that. The precepts strictly forbids it. But the missing pieces are too important to leave alone. Whatever consequences are begotten by my actions, I am prepared to face them. But if any of you are not, then you are free to remain here and continue your training under Master Cormack's wise tutelage. And I will not hold that choice against you. But if you are willing, then come with me, and we will brave the coming storm together. May our Hearts be our guiding key."

After this, Viper summoned her Keyblade and used it to open the Lanes Between. Then she used a silvery button at her waist to don her Armor. It was something all Keyblade Wielders were given, a means to protect them from the Darkness that filled the Lanes Between and allowed them to safely travel from one world to another.

Land of Departure ~ The Next Morning

@Katakon@AngelofOctober

"This is most troubling." Master Cormack stood in the throne room. Behind him were three thrones. They were meant for the highest ranking Masters to sit together and convene. However, Cormack was the only Master now present. The other Master usually occupying the opposite throne was gone. And all but one of her Pupils had gone with her. In fact Master Cormack had only learned of this departure thanks to said student coming forward and informing him, "But, I am glad you chose to do the right thing, Raine. You may have given us the advantage we need to stop something terrible from happening." he said, then glanced over each of his own Pupils, who had also gathered.

"Today was to be a momentous day. One our own was to be examined for the Mark of Mastery. And yet..." his gaze had paused on Celestia before he offered a heavy, apologetic sigh, "...I'm afraid the Exam will have to be postponed. This potential crisis must take priority. Celestia... I am truly sorry." but then he returned to shifting his gaze between all the pupils, "I'd like for you three to come with me. There are preparations we must make before any actions can be taken." he then began to leave through the exit that would take him out to the courtyard. Master Cormack led his pupils to a hidden door that led into an underground passage.

"This passage leads to where the Relic was buried," he explained, summoning his Sun-shaped Keyblade and using it to open the door, "It can only be opened by either mine or Master Viper's Keyblade. Inside you'll find the hallways to be winding and rather confusing. This is also a defense mechanism, designed to deter would-be thieves and intruders." as the group found itself in the Labyrinthian passage. Cormack's words rang true about the nature of its design. But the pupils had nothing to fear, as Cormack was one of the few who knew the exact path that led to the end of the passage. Once there he once again used his Keyblade to open a door similarly locked like the one outside.

"Behold, the Relic... or at least what is left of it." when the door opened, the Pupils got their own look into the chamber. The pedestals, the pillar, all still in place. The only things missing were the thirteen stolen Pieces, and now four of the trinkets had been removed from the pillar, "Just as I suspected. These devices are Wayfinders. You may have read about these in some of the old books and scrolls. The connections formed between them are unbreakable and said to be able to transcend even the Realms of Light and Darkness. These Wayfinders bear also a connection to the twenty pieces of the X-Blade. The missing Wayfinders are no doubt in the possession of Master Viper and her students. But that will also be their undoing, for you three need only each take a Wayfinder of your own and you will have the means to search for them across any World they may pass through."

Master Cormack waited for each of the Apprentices to take a Wayfinder. Once they did, he would lead them through the passage and back out into the Outer Courtyard, "Master Viper has unlocked the Lanes Between. These forbidden passageways will allow the Keyblade's Chosen to traverse between worlds. But beware, the Lanes Between hold immeasurable dangers from the forces of Darkness. However, your Armor will protect you. Remember also that Order must be kept. You must not reveal the existence of the Keyblade or other worlds to those you may encounter." he closed his eyes, offering one last heavy sigh.

"I know that this news is a shock to you but my words are indeed true. Master Viper has left us, and her pupils with her. They no doubt wish recover the missing pieces of the relic. But what cost are they willing to pay? Would they allow the Darkness to take them? It is not a price I am willing to pay, not even for the X-Blade. I'm afraid I must task you with seeking out those who left and to bring them back before it is too late. It is a dangerous task, you will have to brave many dangers when traveling the worlds, but I am confident that you will succeed. Remember the precepts, and may your Hearts be your guiding key."
