Showcase:
"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.
"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.
Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."
"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."
She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."
She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.
Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.
"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.
Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.
The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...
She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.
She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.
As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.
Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.
God, she couldn't breathe.
He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.
A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.
Haha, Sarpy your posts are cracking me up. That talking sword was such a good idea.

Woohoo Estyl, I did think that perhaps Evelyn might help based on her CS, but I didn't actually believe she would. Thanks Estylwen. Oh, damn, if Kester thinks of her as a trustworthy person or something, he'd probably become her cat's paw...What's the likelihood of a lesser noble managing to see the court mage?
Tee hee, thanks Dlay. I had a bad feeling no one else was gonna stop you, so I intervened. ^^; This honestly works perfectly for Evelyn, gratitude is a powerful tool, as well as asking a favour. There is, in fact, something Kester can do for Evelyn...

Fair-So, Fair-So chances. :3 Anyways, thank you Sarah~

Are you still accepting characters to this? I would be interested in joining.
Would you? That's perfect cuz I have space for one more. :3 We'd probably have your character fall from the sky with us, maybe passed out till the oasis, so your first post would likely be waking up by the water's edge. I'm looking forward to a CS and sample from ya, Dext. :)
@Gingerboi: Your backstory in your last post reminds me a lot of my own. I know I come up with good ideas, but you should really try coming up with something original. >.<
I know exactly how you feel, Zordon. I also predicted this. Honestly, with the amout of people in this RP I'm surprised we've had so many posts. It needs time for the dust to settle, though. You're a good player, this RP needs you. Just give it time for people to connect and for the stragglers to disappear. There's going to be less frequent posting soon enough, it always happens.
Baron Phillip Agravaine, the black diamond of Marceilles. He had humble beginnings, and with the countless war stories and titles, Agravaine held a lot of power, respect, authority. And a lot of headaches for her. His stubbornness caused plenty of strife when it came to making deals under the table with other barons. No amount of persuasion, bribery, or threats would ever move that man to rethink his morals.
She respected and hated him for it all the same.
"Contact the best thieves you know of. There will be a great robbery that will put Phillip Agravaine out of his own lands in dishonour."
A robbery? Perfect. Thieving was an art, and she knew which rats would excel at such a job opportunity. Her darker side wanted to join them on their midnight escapade, but she resisted the urge. Not only would she compromise her freedom if she was caught, but there'd also be no one to turn the gears in the kingdom.
She barely noticed when the court's new addition finished her song. Her mind was so engrossed in secrets and possibilities that it was only the King's applaud that broke her brooding. Plastering on a new smile, she clapped her hands only as long as she had to. There was too much to think about, so much to do...
"An excellent decision, Your Majesty." Evelyn purred, gray eyes bright with mischief. "Agravaine will never see it coming. I will select my finest thieves for the job and gather further intel on the baron's castle. I'm positive Baron Garthois and I can formulate a plan for Your Majesty's viewing tomorrow."
She met eyes with Garthois, checking if he was on the same page. The bubbly chatter of the court was the perfect cover for little discussions like these, using distractions to their advantage. So it was ironically curious how Evelyn totally missed the tipsy courtier at the table, and the rows of uncomfortable faces around him. One man (she believed his name was Kester, totally clueless on the politics of His Majesty's court) looked incredibly torn as he slowly rose from his seat.
"He's not going to go help the drunken oaf, is he? That's a good way to get his reputation even more shot. I could watch him. I could. But no one benefits from what is going to happen, save his cousin Glenn." Evelyn thought, deciding to earn some brownie points.
She subtly snapped her fingers, causing a small electrical discharge to arc from her hand to the floor, snake around the seats, and zap Kester's foot. No one would notice something so quick, no. But if he took the shock cooly, it would make him second-guess standing up. Her eyes were on him, he'd see her look of warning if he glanced at the King.
She didn't enjoy anyone potentially losing face over an act of would-be gratitude. Besides, Kester reminded her of an innocence she incinerated long ago. That was her good karma for the day.

Estyl? What do our soul bodies look like? Can we see the cracks?
Soul-bodies are interesting things I should have placed more explanation on. The only times you'd see damage or cracks, or pieces of your soul flaking off would be under intense damage (like hits in battle) or after a long time of no oasis water, SE soul-bodies need a dose of that every day or so, or they'll get some symptoms back. After a week of no oasis water the SE soul-body will completely disintegrate. Souls don't show typical wear and tear like mortal bodies do, you look normal, but better. The SE disease is symptoms, for the most part. Only if you're close to death do you visibly see cracks and shatter marks.

Y'know, I've still been wondering how Wrensthavaviovus' character reacted to having a terrified scantily clad woman run away from him, and how he felt travelling down that path, and how he felt when the cat teleported, and how he felt about everything.... I'm a little sad to have heard nothing at all about it.
I'll get him back here, and make him post tonight too. ;3
@Mad Scarlet: Heeeey!~ ...>w> <w<... I like your Charrie.

Thats fine.I mightve posted the Wolgran part too early though since Estylwen seems to have had something to post before me. And now she had to post it after.

The moment the dreadlocks lady attacked her carrier and dropped to the ground, Azula materialized on her head. The cat peered upside down at the lady, staring at her golden eyes.
"Boop!" Azula pawed the lady's nose, causing a stability reset of the emotions, slowing down the heart rate, removing the panic that clouded her thoughts. "That's better. Do you feel better? You should. We're on a quest to find water, and I imagine you're exhausted. My name is Azula, and I guarantee you things will be explained as soon as we reach water."
She turned her gaze to the other soul who'd woken up, black hair with grey edges and emerald eyes. A very pretty mix, to be honest. "That goes for you too, Green Eyes. If you can walk, walk with us. You're safe here."
Azula appeared on Wrensthav's broad shoulders again. They stepped past the trunk of an impressive tree, and stood at the beginning of a fairy tale clearing. The water of the oasis itself was a sight, glittering blue-green and as clear as a sheet of glass. Pearls and smooth gems covered the bed of the oasis. Pixie lights rose up from the water, illuminating the smooth rock shores in bright spots of pale colour. Divine wildlife was in abundance as well, fish both flying and swimming in water, fauna playing at the water's edge. Colours they couldn't name gave flourish to the picturesque view, complimenting the greens and blues of the oasis.
"Welcome to paradise. Please, drink up. Rest a while. This water will heal you from anything, including your soul shattering away on you. Of course, it's not permanent. But that's why we're going to sip on this occasionally while we find the Lady.
"If you follow this path for another ten minutes, you'll fall right on the gates to the Town of Bela." Azula said, pointing a paw down the grass path that continued on into the forest. "I trust all of you can do this without my help, so I will meet you at the gates. Could you fill in the two sleepers as well? I'm sure they're mighty confused. Feel free to say hi to anyone in town -- they know you're coming. I need to find the one we lost, and I can do it a lot faster if we split up."
She patted Wrensathv's shoulder. "Thanks for carrying me, I was in pain."
With lithe agility seen exclusively in cats, Azula vaulted off the soul's shoulder and landed silently on the stone shore, dipping her face in the water. Her whole body glittered for a moment as she drank, and the burns glaring on her fur receded to nothing.
"Heehee, they tickle when they heal." Azula rubbed her damp face. "I'll see you all in town."
A white shadow raced into the shrubs, and the hum of the oasis was undisturbed once more.
***
The sixth sense of being able to view one's surroundings internally in a kind of GPS was a gift Azula still depended heavily on. Each different creature she picked up on her senses had a different feel to it. It only took a little bit of searching around to find a soul, shattered too. Picking up speed, the cat took low to the ground. Quickly catching up, Azula popped out from under the bushes, stopping just ahead of the runaway.
"Stop, I'm a friend. My name is Azula." said the cat. "I know you're lost from the crater, and I'm here to help." She eyed up the exotic soul, judging her fear levels. The runaway seemed level-headed at least, so she continued.
"You're the first soul I've seen in almost 400 years to just run like that. Last time it was for fear of being buried alive, but I don't think that's the case for you. May I ask what scared you?"
