"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

Leonerdo, I thought I recognized you. So you've given up on Obsidian, then? :p
A time before the Procedure? That sounds perfect, let's do it. Who wants the first post?
At least, I thought so. :/
Jazzy hit the nail right on the head. xD
"In either case, we should meet again, Aislin, you have a cell phone? I suggest we meet at the student lounge, lots of students relax there." Shannon said.

Aislin gingerly took the cloth, examining it with an air of fascination. Why, this is her power in action. She has such control over detail, I don't know how she does it. It took her a moment to register the fact that it was more than just cloth and embroidery. "Oh, perfect! Yeah, I have a cell. Here, I'll give you text right now."

She pulled out a well-used android, one crack split across the screen. "I've had this thing for years. Much better than those Apple devices, way too mainstream." After adding in their numbers she sent a simple text: Hey. and waited for the almost instant buzz of cellphones around their table.

After staring at her empty dinner plate for a moment, Aislin scooped up her utensils and placed them parallel to each other across the china. "Well Shannon, Deborah," She said, nodding to each of them. "It's been a pleasure talking with you. I think I'm gonna get a head-start on the Admin building, so I'll see you guys around."

She gave a little wave as she left the table, dropping her plate off with the piles of other dishes before heading out the cafeteria doors. Despite the dying light her Aviators went back on her face, almost to Aislin's relief. Ah, my first interactions here were a success. Whew... Rubbing the burnt feeling of stoner fatigue from her eyes, she made her way to the Admin building, only consulting a map once.

Yawning, she walked up to the receptionist and stated her name. The lady handed her a note and a key, and Aislin leaned up by the wall near the desk, engrossed in her roommate's name. "Alex Beta, eh?" She contemplated what an 'Alex Beta' would be like. 'Alex' was always a silver-sounding word to her, very light and easy to roll off the tongue. 'Beta' as a surname, however, was new to her. It sounded very pro-science. Maybe her family was into that.

Ears are always more sensitive to names, especially your own. So it was no wonder Aislin snapped out of her daydream to hear a conversation taking place near her.

“Ass...lin...Asslin? Aislin...Rose."

"Ass Lynn? Well, at least half the name's pretty. Maybe they just call her that 'cause she's got curves, who knows."

Aislin bared her teeth in a wolfish grin, snickering. In her peripheral vision she saw the two ladies debating her name. One had dark hair, single strand of purple, real casual clothes and the most lethal stare Aislin had ever seen. She would have been far more intimidating had she not been accompanied by a tall blonde that seemed to glow. Not the kind of aura glow that Aislin was used to picking out from people. She could see the blonde's energy without even trying, and the more she stared the more intense it became. Shit, I think I just saw sparks.

Curiosity begged her to meet them. She took off her shades as she approached the duo, almost using the motion as a springboard into conversation. Seeing someone's eyes was like looking into their soul, and she was down to being open. Especially since one of these ladies was going to be her roommate. "Well, I'd like to think I have curves. Nothing the boys here would be interested in, though." She joked, comically pulling at a bit of skin above her hips.

"I'm Aislin Rose. The first 'I' is silent." She winked. "This whole roommates thing is new to me as well. Either one of you wouldn't happen to be Alex, would you?"
OMG, hi new people. XD

Jeez, I leave for a couple days and there's a whole new cast to aquaint with. ;)
I think we've given Dmytra and the RP lots of time, interest is gonna fade if we don't at least try starting this. Maybe we can meet and talk over the cafeteria breakfast before Orientation, get some dialogue going. :p
Halfway through Deborah's advice Aislin got hit in the face with the best mental image ever. Deborah in badass dreads and a doobie in her hand, speaking with a stonerly accent: You should lay off the drugs, maaaann.

Shh, this is suppose to be like, a serious moment. Aislin play-scolded herself, hiding her bubbling laughter behind a cough. She waited until she thought she could contain her silliness, then met her advisor's gaze. "Shit, you know, you're probably right. I won't use it during class hours."

She smiled at Shannon's comment. "Move on, indeed. If only I'd known about the Academy sooner, I'd have loved growing up in such a diverse, and so far quite inviting, environment. Plus they have no such thing as winter here, right?"

"How about you make it look like their utensils are attacking them? That'd be one surprise." Deborah said.

Aislin tilted her head to the side, thinking about it. Something clicked, and the mischievous look was back in her eyes. "Yes, yes! That would work perfectly. We can make that work, give them a 'lil scare too."

As Shannon revealed her own ability, Aislin couldn't help but romanticize it with visions of dancing cloth, twirling ribbons and flowing dresses making themselves. It almost reminded her of Cinderella, just no mice holding buttons the size of their head. "That's perfect for a fashionista like you, I'd love to see you make something one of these days. Mm, I can't think of any ideas either, but I know cloth manipulation would work awesomely if we had more time to plan."

Aislin watched the targeted table a little longer, feeling a twist in her gut. "Mm, after a second look, I don't know if these kids are in the mood for a prank. It looks like there's some tension over there. Plus quite a few have up and gone. But hey," She grinned again, glancing excitedly at Shannon and Deborah. "Now that I know you guys are interested, we can pull something extraordinary later this year with a mix of badass abilities. I think it'd be super fun, especially with your expertise."

She poked at the last remaining bits of lettuce and tomato on her plate, inwardly congratulating herself on getting her veggie on. Healthy food was her preference, but with the munchies it was easy to fill up on a bowl of candy. Bowl of anything, really. With her hunger no longer in the way she briefly considered her future. The idea of roommates played at the back of her mind, filling her with a slight nag to go to the Administration building soon. There's no rush, 'Curiosity'. Aislin rolled her eyes at herself.

"So," Aislin furrowed her brows. "I'm puzzled. Are return students already set-up? Like, you guys know who you'll be sharing your dorm with and everything?"
"I'm an Extra-sensory type. My power gives me info about what I can see and hear." Deborah said, giving an example of her ability. Aislin listened with interest, a light blush coloring her cheeks as she put two and two together.

Amusement was written in every facet of her face, and she laughed as she removed her shades. The vivid blue of her eyes overshadowed the pink-ish hue at the edges. "How fascinating. Well, suppose I don't need these around ya. Besides, my eyes shouldn't be too red by now. Right?"

The white streaks of light she saw traveling between them earlier, that could have been Deborah's power. She remembered reading when the brain sent messages along its neurons, it was in the form of electrical impulses. Electricity and energy were almost synonymous, so what she saw must have been some kind of telepathic communication between them. That... Is so totally cool. I can't communicate like that.

When Shannon mentioned the invasion of privacy, Aislin quickly shook her head. "No way, it doesn't bother me. It's actually sooo incredibly relieving to be around others who understand. I actually got kicked out of my last highschool because I let my ability slip up. They called me a witch..." Aislin frowned, trailing off. That still really bothered her.

"Might as well continue the show-and-tell, though." She winked, pointing to her fork. "I have the talent to make this little guy get up and walk off the table. They labeled me under Other, whatever the hell that means. I can program objects to do things, with some concentration. Mainstream media calls it Animation, you know how they love their comics and superheroes."

Deborah's directions kinda sailed over Aislin's head since she couldn't begin to picture the school's layout in her mind. Dammit. Next time she saw a map she'd look for that pathway, but for the mean time she feigned understanding. "Ah, perfect. Maybe I'll go peruse it tonight before it gets too late."

Ailsin had a feeling they wouldn't be too against some fun. She noticed the table Deborah targeted was one she had debated sitting at earlier. It was still just as busy, though some had slipped away. The huge lizard man was still there, to her amusement. Muahaha, yes~!

She nodded at Shannon, noting to not go too overboard. "I was thinking of maybe giving them a case of runaway cutlery. I could also have their plates do something cruel and fling their remaining portions of food at them. Buuuut, eh. That would be overdoing it. Especially with the expensively dressed kids. So yeah, runaway cutlery, unless you wanted to add anything. I can guarantee it'll be very amusing to watch."
Already Aislin felt invited to the table. Hallelujah~! She listened while slowly filling her face with delicious salad, ebbs of her growling stomach becoming sated. They didn't introduce themselves at first, the black lady looking at her very carefully. Aislin continued to munch veggies, comfortable with slow conversation.

They went quiet for a moment, allowing her to pick up on their auras with easier focus. She couldn't deny her curiosity a peek, especially with such an opportunity. Both girls had a pale hue glowing around their edges with many fluctuating patterns of colours. The black lady had streaks of red running through her aura, her friend had pulses of orange and lime. But Aislin cocked an eyebrow behind her shades when she saw a ripple of white zip down the black lady's arm and across her friend's body. The light played to and from a couple more times, and Aislin couldn't tear her eyes away. How fascinating. What could that possibly be?

The flashes of pink around their shoulders were undeniable, and the biggest smile played at Aislin's lips. Aw, they love each other. That's so cute!

She was on the downswing of being stoned, it was when she had the most awareness to kinda see things beyond what she normally would. Her eye softened behind the shades, drifting around the room. Everything in the room has a... kinda shimmer around it. The table's edges faintly glow. An aura? Does it... Does it mean all things have some amount of consciousness? Is that why I can wake them, because their low amount of energy can't allow them to interact in this dimension? ...Oh my god, mind blown.

She chuckled to herself, realizing how stoned that sounded. Taking a deep breath, Aislin flickered her gaze back to her new friends. A tickling sense of tranquillity swept through her body as she centered herself back on the conversation. "Ah, Shannon and Deborah. The pleasure is all mine."

She nodded her head while they gave their opinions on the school. "Mm, I'd have to agree with the whole paradise thing; the humid jungle outside surprised me. In a good way, I don't mind vacation and school at the same time."

When Shannon played at Deborah's power, Aislin immediately thought of the white pulses of light she saw earlier. Her curiosity begged her to ask, "Aw, you've hinted at it, now I have to know. Pretty please?" The casual grin returned to her lips.

"But, yeah. If you need a pointer or two, just ask me. I'm probably going to give you better answers than anyone else."

Aislin tapped the table, chuckling. "I'm sure glad I sat here, I really appreciate that. In a place this huge I can already see myself getting lost repeatedly. But speaking of, I heard this Academy had like, a ginormous library. Where would I find it?" She leaned in further, a mischievous glint in her blue eyes. "And, uh... How do you feel about cafeteria pranks?"
