"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

What a strange boy. Aislin chuckled, only clueing in seconds later that Jaska never followed her down the steps. He grabbed the stone along the ceiling, crawling along like spider-man. Aislin's stomach twisted briefly, knowing if he fell that would mean bad news. The ceiling only inclined down the path, increasing the drop by a couple more feet. But Jaska had done this for years, maybe she was just paranoid.

They continued down one of the paths, Aislin going at a slow enough pace for Jaska to keep up comfortably. The path twisted along, the stone lined in worn curves alongside. It looked similar to a chasm, and Aislin considered the possibility of water eroding the cave walls. Then she remembered the island was artificial, and a pout crossed her lips. The chasm opened up to a circular clearing with more holes twisting into the darkness. A draft blew up from their left, giving Aislin a clear scent of water. "Mmmm..." She breathed contently.

Jaska's voice cracked the stillness. "Someone's here!"

Aislin wheeled around, eyes searching the darkness. Of course, she couldn't see anything, and her eyes glanced up to Jaska who -- Oh God, no! -- just snapped his handhold, quickly falling. Aislin only blinked her eyes and it was over, the thud of his small body hitting the stone floor her only cue.

"Jaska!" Aislin ran to where he fell, collapsing on her knees. "Jaska, kiddie, look at me, honey." She glanced him over with panicked eyes, gasping when she saw the stalagmite sticking out of his side. Tears streamed down his face as he clutched it, screaming.

"Oh fuck." Aislin swore under her breath. This is bad. Steps behind her stole Aisln's gaze, and she saw a blue, shimmery lady walk deeper into the caves. If this were X-Men Aislin might have accepted what she saw a little better, but there weren't suppose to be hermits living in the school's jungle. Period.

Aislin bit her lip, turning back to Jaska. He stopped screaming, only whimpers escaping his lips. Meaning to comfort, she put a hand on his forehead to only yank it off, shaking it vigorously in the cool cave air. Her palm seared with pain, she was sure it was burned. In the semi-darkness she couldn't tell how bad the burn was, but touching it left a distinct feeling of melted flesh. It was moments later when his eyes began to dimly glow, and Aislin knew something was very wrong. Jaska trembled, barely giving Aislin enough time to crawl back before he began thrashing out with red-hot limbs.

Jaska returned her panicked stare, pointing to the stairs. "R-run! I... Can.... can't... control it!"

"I won't leave you here!" Aislin said defiantly, despite the fear in her voice. Rising to her feet, Aislin stared at him with the most torn eyes. She had no idea if this was some kind of death process or what, but she couldn't just leave him here like this. God, he had family here! Jaska was her responsibility, she had to do what she could.

He looked less and less human as the little beast child thrashed on the floor. The stink of boiling copper filled the cave, and Aislin had the urge to throw up. She could hear blood sizzling, and a terrible shiver made her knees weak. "Fuck, Jaska. I'm sorry."

Aislin made record timing out of the cave, tripping over her own feet as she tumbled into the jungle clearing. Swaying shakily to her feet once more, Aislin cupped her hands around her mouth and screamed in a broken, desperate voice. "Heeeelp! Oh God, help please!"

Haggard, heavy breathing emanated from the cave's gaping darkness, and Aislin turned to face the entrance. Her feet slowly backed up as the jungle floor beneath her rippled and swirled out several meters. Whatever was in the cave now sounded monstrous and terrifying, but Aislin prayed to God it wasn't the kiddie. She could barely defend herself as it was, how could she hurt him? No, she would run. Flight was more her style anyway.

Her voice barely a whisper, Aislin peered into the darkness with frightened eyes.

"...Jaska?"
I think I'm free tonight. ^^
"Wrensthav, mm? The pleasure's all mine." Evelyn said, surprised she was getting mental flashes of white sand overlaying where Wrensthav stood. Magic had taught her to discipline her thoughts so she noticed she couldn't recognize these as hers. She smirked; it was similar to the magic-lust written in the arcane symbols in her robes, though his was far more potent and seemed to emanate from within. That was all she could think to compare it to as they both affected the senses.

As he spoke, Evelyn's attention was split in half. Part of her focused on his words, the other tuned into the whiff of magic she visualized earlier. The man in front of her kept unfolding into deeper levels of alien magic, Evelyn couldn't get close to the end of it. Amazement sparkled in her eyes, as well as a shred of alarm. Half-denying the possibility of... Whatever she just saw, she looked curiously into his eyes.

"These sound like some very interesting relics, I would so love to see them." Evelyn purred, gently swirling the remaining contents of her glass. "But Wrensthav, I do not believe you've let on all that you are. You are... Hm, quite a mystery." She frowned, looking almost terribly frustrated for a moment before she relaxed, that warm look back in her eyes.

Amused, she hide a snicker behind three fingers. "But I have a feeling I'll be seeing you tomorrow. Or, later today, seeing as its late. You'll have to forgive me, I'm awful tired. Traveling all day will do that." Evelyn said, raising her glass to him. "Goodnight, relic collector."

She gently moved past him, walking down the balcony hallway before turning the corner, making her way to her room. The door quietly closed behind her.
Hi Zak, I have a roleplay I'm currently Co-GMing, it's been going strong for four months but I would love to have you on board. We are in need of new elements. This fantasy/post-apocalyptic roleplay is called Elementals: Void Assault and it's the story of a dying world fighting the foreign aliens contaminating it. Take a look through the IC and see if it's something you'd be interested, and give me a shout. :)
Ohhhhh-ho shiiiieeet. D:
Nice one, Allen.
Hehe, all stories must have an end. But that doesn't mean we can't bring about a sequel. So then... Technically the story never ends. ;)

But I definitely want to see us complete this roleplay. I don't think I've ever done a roleplay from start to finish in my six years of roleplaying.
Woot, sounds good to me. Can't wait for your opening posts, guys. :D
"Cleeeeeean meeeeeee!" In the most creepy, haunting tone. XD
I'll post tomorrow.
Sounds good to me, we will go whenever you'd like. The ending may come sooner if we go to Atlanta, but that's not a bad thing either.

Yep, waiting on Urukhai and Sync~
