Current Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy has an ordinary-looking MC that to the world he'd been Isekai'd to, the humans find him incredibly ugly.

Heaven has exactly one lawyer, but don't tell anyone. Mary Todd's still looking for him.

Woke up Christmas night and there was Santa glaring at me from the door. At least I think it was Santa. We had a marine neighbor, or maybe it was dad? Only neither one had a beard.

Bio

I am a seven-foot tall minecraft-playing hindu guru drag-queen alien.

Possessor of an Ancient Device™ Model 17. No, I don't know what it does. No, you can't play with it.

Pronouns: It. As in: "What is it? What does it want? Why is it here? Oh my god, it's got my... <insert random body part or object here>"

Likes: World Domination, Writing, Rpg, scifi/fantasy, anime, sketchup 3d models, and anime music videos.

Companions: a host of characters from other games, my personal muse Penny (as in Bad), and the Badger gang - Toothpick, Buttons, Shark, and Mongo. They grew up in the balcony of an old theatre that played a lot of gangster movies. Normally benign, but may invade the OOC forums.

Okay, I have a history created for Miles. It went a few places I didn't expect.

Close to what @Xaltwind said is my vision. While it’s largely sandbox, bear in mind this is a worlds where the respective gods can -and will- intervene should there be a need. So there are ways different characters could meet and interact. Plus Otherworlders are more likely to have contact with said gods since they’re the reason said Otherworlders are here in the first place.

But are they all being reborn as babies? Might be some time until they're up for adventuring.

Also, not sure why the god is also bringing people over. Seemed to be a real "the gods help those who help themselves" type.
Perhaps this will help:

That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime

The guy who he asked to "take care of his computer" is later seen throwing the plugged in desktop into a full bathtub.

The World's Finest Assassin gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat

He's not the first one she's brought over, either. But the goal remains the same - they must kill the hero. So far, the others have been stalled or failed.

So I'm a Spider, so What? (spoilers)

After an explosion wipes out the entire classroom, most of her classmates wake up as the sons and daughters of nobles. But our title character Kumoko was reborn as a spider....

Admittedly, I've been watching a lot of isekai lately, with a couple I'm currently watching in my queue, so I'm already familiar with this trope. I was briefly involved in a reverse isekai where creatures from a fantasy world wind up in New York City and must come up with some sort of life.

Personally, the more successful roleplays I've been a member of here and elsewhere had some sort of goal. In some sandboxes, I had to provide that goal for myself and had other players join in. So, as a suggestion, one of the two gods in this world has some sort of goal, which on the surface feels reasonable. But the way they intend to implement that goal is against the beliefs of the other. Of course, there's no knowing who's right or wrong, here. (It may be both are right.)

And there's something preventing direct interference, so they are forced to recruit outsiders as their intermediaries.

But are the players going to start as babies, or are they taking over the recently deceased?

Just some thoughts.
@Xaltwind
Heya, is this still open? I wanna join your crew if possible.

I was thinking of a priest turned pirate who cons brings people to salvation, spread the word of the 'seagod' and relieves them the burden of their worldly possession.

I don't know for sure, but the Apply flag is still flying. Just make sure you read all the rules.

<Snipped quote by Expendable>

But Katelyn set the Diary down in front of Vilhelm, who took it, read it, then offered it to Jake at the end of my last post!

I have fixed the post to make it clearer.
@Expendable Did Jake just call Vilhelm 'miss'? 🤣

He called Katelyn 'miss'.
A slight frown creased his mouth, but the half-elf merely nods, setting down his beer and reaching out for it.

"I would, yeah," he said, then glanced over at Katelyn. "Iffen you don't mind, miss?"

The moment the book touched his hand, Jake knew. It hadn't just captured his words - somehow, it caught a bit of the emperor's soul. He was older than his paintings, but it was still the same man, same smile as he wrote and sketched, the horror of seeing a deadly scorpion and reacting immediately by using the closest thing at hand - and then realizing he'd used his notebook. He had a vague sense of others, the ripping of pages... but that was it.

The others were watching. How long had he been lost in the recollections?

Jake brought the notebook up to his nose and sniffed deeply, picking up the sweet, pungent, musty smell. "Old paper," he smiled, just slightly. "Forgers usually darken the paper with tea, different smell. He then examines the binding. "This was made in Iridia city by the Carnegie Papermill, about 1830s. They always inserted this purple thread on either side for the Emperor's stock."

Opening the book, he started flipping through the pages.

"Handwriting and prose can be copied," Jake said, "but this, this is genuine up until this final entry."

"So," he asked, handing it back to Katelyn, "Who took this afterward? You great-grandmother?"

@Expendable Think lunch might be coming to you.
