Downfall: Trinket, Bauble, and Charm's (D10)

The fish doesn't seem to mind the Mage Hand as it keeps eating at the bits of Duskmallow Pie thrown into the water. Jub manages to fish out a strange notebook, a jar containing a paper wasp nest complete with wasps flying in there, and two gold pieces for the trouble.

Brutrumukk did keep the fish there for a bit longer with the gourd, but Jub wasn't able to get anything else out of the fish.

Once it has eaten the gourd, it swims away from Brutrumukk and Jub.

... does it actually have wasps in it?

... and when you say paper wasp nest, do you mean the nest itself is made of paper or the wasps are?

The Feywild Trinket Table doesn't elaborate on that. So I'm going to say it actually has wasps in it (otherwise, the jar probably wouldn't have been included). I think the nest itself is made of paper and the wasps are live.

Anyways, you have one more try at disadvantage thanks to Brutrumukk's gourd.

84.

The Mage Hand pulled out a paper wasp nest in a jar.

Alright. If the herbs aren't found this time, Brut will toss the gourd.

It's definitely not the herbs.
@Guardian Angel Haruki

Understood.

BTW, Brut still has a dragon gourd from Telemy Hill. If Jub doesn't find the herbs this time, would throwing the gourd down keep the fish around long enough for one more try?

Yeah, I'll allow it.

@Guardian Angel Haruki

I just remembered that the help action exists. Would you allow me to apply that retroactively? If so, if Brutrumukk were to use his familiarity with animals to keep the fish calm and still during the search, would that be enough help to negate the disadvantage and give Jub that 24?

I'm going to have to say No on this.

1) Brutrumukk is frightened of this thing. So, he can't really approach the fish to calm it down. It's especially harder to calm something else down, if he himself is not calm at all. All he can do is toss the bits of the Duskmallow pie from afar.
2) Jub is using Mage Hand to fish through the intestines, so apart from your suggestion, there really isn't much else Brutrumukk can do to help the Mage Hand find the herbs.

Ok.

Hilarious thought: I roll a nat 20 and end up fishing out Zybilna. Turns out she's been in this fish's stomach the whole time.

...

Nevermind, I got a 10.

You got something!
Roll another d100 for me please.
<Snipped quote by Guardian Angel Haruki>

That just means he can't get closer to the fish. He could still do other things, right?

He can, but it would be at disadvantage.

A frightened creature has disadvantage on ability checks and attack rolls while the source of its fear is within line of sight.
The creature can’t willingly move closer to the source of its fear.
