Noah spent the majority of his night wandering through Ember Grove. He was so bored; this town was too small, and he longed to see places he had only read about. He felt like a shark trapped in an encloser, all of Ember Grove was the glass wall he kept banging into but he couldn’t leave, a single thought kept him here; what if she came back. Noah longed for the presence of his sire, his only hope was that she would return to Ember Grove for him, because the rest of the world was so vast, he knew he could search for decades and never find her. Restlessness set in, his mind buzzed and refused to quiet. So much of his life had been spent in a cage already and here he was existing now in a cage only big enough so that he could not see the bars. How he hated Celeste for leaving him here, Ember Grove, a town far too small to contain him and with so little to entertain him. Was it test? A punishment? Noah had been alone for far too long and it left him with only his own mind to keep him company, and that led him towards obsession. A despite need for a distraction, a new obsession, as his current one had no answer he could understand. But as he wandered the familiar streets of his home town, the only town he’d ever known, it haunted him with memories of his mortal life.

He walked past the mall, with it’s blinding lights and overwhelming smells, it was absolutely unbearable. But human Noah had loved the mall, spending as much time there with friends as he could, and now he struggled to even remember what he liked about the place. It was strange how whenever he walked around aimlessly, he always ended up at places that had meant something to him in his mortal life. He had gone back once; it had smelled like everything all at once; food, people, perfume, damn scented candles and it overwhelmed him. While he struggled with the scents the loud noises and glaring lights left him angry and disoriented. All those people walking around ripe for slaughter and yet he, the apex predator, had to hold himself back to avoid exposure, what a stupid rule. He looked back on this memory fondly; this moment of absolute confusion had given way to perfect clarity, for it was then that he realized the world was not as it should be, vampires should never have to hold back from fear of retaliation of mortals. Vampires needed to take power away from their prey, to gain control of this ass backwards world and embrace freedom. They were destined to live as the sharks they were, to prowl and feed at will, consume all they needed without fear. He would see this world one day, everywhere would be as right as things were in the Mills Community, and Noah wouldn’t need to hold back.

“Noah, it is the duty of those with the strength and the means to protect those who cannot protect themselves.” He heard the words of his father, William Beaumont, once again as clear as if the dead man was standing beside him. He could still recall when he as just a boy had asked his father why he had to spend so much time working, and this was father’s stupid response. Noah grinned slightly knowing exactly what this sentiment had earned his father. He turned to see an image of his old man looking exactly as he had the last time Noah had seen him; several days past his death; bloodied and well after the rot had set into his corpse.

“And look at what that got you.” Noah spoke to the man that was not there. “But if you hadn’t been such a nosey bastard maybe I’d never be what I am, the perfect predator.” He wondered if he was always fated to become a vampire, if his father hadn’t stopped to follow a road that shouldn’t exist, would he have ended up living a dreadfully mundane life? Noah had to believe vampirism was always his destiny. Even as a child he had always felt destined for greatness, but until he had been given the gift of immortal blood, the how had always eluded him. But now he understood. “I will make a better world, one for vampires.” He said as the image of his father faded back into his mind. The question that drove him to wander still vexed him, where should he find his next meal.

Thirst was creeping up his throat and the need for blood consumed him and he knew that his prey would be plentiful at the night clubs and bars. The loud and overwhelming places that Noah could barely stand, where music beat itself into his head, where lights strobed and flashed, and the humans reeked of sweat. Even with the lovely spread of prey places like Trance of The Pit had to offer he didn’t want to deal with the constant assault on all his senses and the headaches those places caused him. He also avoided that shithole Alexei’s, it always stank of dogs from the werewolves there, not to mention all the other creatures who could spot what he was from miles away. He couldn’t stand the taste of stale blood served in a glass either, where was the fun in that? Instead he headed towards another bar, The Twisted Lizard, but rather than go inside, he lingered near the entrance, waiting for a drunk to stumble out.

Eventually he found a mark, someone with a friendly face, stumbling out of the bar. They were easy prey, and Noah approached them as they walked past the alleyway near the bar, asking them for a cigarette. The second the human locked eyes with him he could sense their hint of fear; his wild eyes contained the gleam of a predator, and while humans could sense the danger, they foolish ignored it, giving in to the expectation to be polite. As his prey stretched out an arm to offer the cigarette, Noah grabbed the arm and pulled them into the alleyway. He knocked his meal’s head against the wall hard enough for him to hear a crack. The scent of blood unhinged his fangs and he tore into their neck before the human even had time to scream. The thirst quieted, and then his mind calmed as well. The body left behind was carelessly tossed into a dumpster, buried amongst the trash. Though not well hidden, he remembered not to leave the evidence in the open this time. Now he walked the streets feeling better, happier and full, enjoying the way his pretty and familiar cage looked at night.

Although Liam wondered why Boris chose to walk or run back to the camp grounds he did not question him, though it did concern him some that the new wolf seemed to have difficulty connecting with the pack. The strength of the pack lied in their shared connection, the absolute trust that each and every wolf had one another’s back no matter what, and he worried that Boris might not have truly felt that connection. He didn’t question the man’s loyalty, he saw for himself tonight that Boris was willing to fight for other wolves, but rather was concerned that Boris didn’t understand that the pack would do the same for him without question. He would need to find some way to strengthen Boris’ connection with the pack, to better instill him with that sense of community.

Once the adrenalin from the fight began to where off his own bruises and bite wound started to come more into focus. He couldn’t complain, he’d been through worse, and the others in the car were certainly worse off than he, but he could only assume they were feeling things a bit more clearly as well now. His posture relaxed some, he allowed himself a moment to calm from the fight, for now there was no immediate threat, and he could instead focus on knowing a bit more about the wolves who claimed Ember Grove as home. Liam knew nothing about the other wolves in the car, but only Sorrel seemed awake enough for conversation. Knowing full well how distracting the pain of a silver knife could be Liam ended up filling the silence with chatter in the hopes that it could take her mind off that pain.

“Well I guess the rumors of Ember Grove and it’s vampire problem were true. That’s what brought my pack and I here, think of us as supernatural pest control. Name’s Liam, by the way, my pack, Vagus Lupi, we wander, looking for threats to all wolves. Vampires, hunters, witches, anyone causing problems for werewolves, and we look to help end those problems. We aren’t looking to make any claims on your territory or cause any trouble with local packs here. And I do apologize for not making a formal introduction when we first got here but we’ve had some trouble locating the alpha for this town. I’m guessing your pack’s pretty secretive, a valid choice, me I prefer to get things out in the open. I just like to be sure my pack isn’t where we’re not wanted.” Liam said, keeping his introduction concise and making his intentions in town clear. He paused a few times to offer directions as they got to the campgrounds, a left here, a right there, as his pack stayed deeper into the grounds than most would. Liam had chosen the deepest location into the grounds where other travelers were less likely to stray, and had gotten a good deal on renting out the space as it was rarely used due to the occasional incidents of animal attacks.

Bowyn cocked his head at Torvi’s outburst, which had caused a slight tremor of the earth. He saw no harm in antagonizing the strangers a bit, even if they did turn out to be potential allies, he needed to show he wasn’t weak. Letting slights slide by him, showing kindness to random strangers, trusting without cause; these were marks of the weak, and the weak died quick, especially in times of war. So, he gave an eye roll to Torvi, she could befriend these strangers if she wanted to, but he was not going to make connections with the first people to speak to him, he had to pickier than that, he needed to be sure they worthy first. He continued to taunt them some, keeping it lighter than before though, not to appease Torvi, but rather to avoid any more inadvertent use of magic from her that might get them exposed.

“I remind you of a child? Would that be from my youthful beauty or delightful playfulness?” He asked his tone now more playful and less indignant than before. “Strange you would call me a child right before Torvi decides to become the mother I never had. But I guess Torvi has a point, these are dangerous times, forests and towns are burning and humans have been brought to Avalia to die yet again. But it’s the elves we have to thank for these lovely developments isn’t it?” Bowyn said, his tone casual but keeping an eye on the two elves as he casually mentioned humans.

“Not that I blame all the elves for the actions of a few but when one loses their home for a second time it tends to sting a bit. Sorry if I seem a little bitter.” Bowyn added, the half sincere apology was his attempt to be more friendly. He doubted the elves were truly here to make friends though, with one giving out an obviously fake name and the other barely speaking, it seemed more like they were doing what he and Torvi were doing; searching for information. So, he kept his words vague enough that they could be interpreted as the bitter musings of one dissatisfied with either Aklenroth or the rebels. He resigned to judge them on their reactions, and hoped keeping the conversation on more provocative topics would distract them from Torvi’s slight use of her magic.

A blood-spattered Noah walked the dark streets of what had once been the prosperous Mill’s Community and that now served as home for many of the vampire’s of Vie et Mort. The houses were all nearly identical, before it had been overtaken by vampires, he had no doubt this left the community with an unimaginably dull suburban atmosphere, much like Noah’s human home had. Now, however, the air had an unsettling feeling; porch lights left off, many house’s left falling into dilapidation, and lawns overgrown and filled with weeds. Sometimes, when things got really quiet, Noah could swear he even hear faint screams from the humans they kept here. The home Noah approached was no different, and its door was left unlocked and ajar, for what did a home of vampires have to fear within their gated community. This was not just Noah’s home, but it was currently empty, his roommates all seemed to be out and Noah too wished to roaming the night.

His face and hands were still coated in dried blood, although the look suited him, it was too conspicuous for prowling the night. So, Noah headed upstairs to shower, his fingers trailing along the dusty banister as he did. He caught himself humming a lullaby his mother had once sung to him and once he realized what he was doing he let out a snarl at the human memory. He looked forward to the days when he would be old enough to forget lingering traces of humanity, until that time came, he kept human Noah chained up in box deep within his mind, where he belonged. Noah turned the hot water on and stepped into the grimy shower, smiling as the hot water hit his skin. He could still remember the first time he had showered as a vampire, with his senses heightened, the way scalding hot water felt against his now cold skin. He had stared entranced as dirt and blood swirled and washed away down a drain; imaging that it was his humanity being washed away as well. The thought that everything that made him weak, and connected him to his mortal life, could just be washed away, swirling with water down a drain, made him happy. Even now he still watched entranced as the blood from the nights kill washed down the drain.

After his shower there was no mirror for Noah to look into, he didn’t care for mirrors. He hated staring into his own reflection as it looked back it him, mocking him with flickers of things he didn’t care to see in his own eyes. The first time he saw his own reflection he had smashed up all the mirrors in the house, leaving delightful little shards of glass littered all over the floors. He liked his reflection in that mess better, random pieces and colors, but without the whole, without eyes looking back at him. But this had not pleased Celeste, she liked mirrors and hated messes, he always saw her looking at her reflection. He could understand this, he also liked looking at Celeste, a perfect vision of a demonic goddess, both beautiful and inhuman. Maybe, one day, he’d be able to see his eyes in mirrors and see nothing but the monster looking back. For now, that spot on the bathroom wall was left black, a reminder that one day he’d earn the ability to be able to stand his own reflection.

Noah left his home, not wanting to spend the night cooped up and alone inside the gates. Bloodlust gnawed at his throat, returning as it always did. He drove the car again, trying to remember that he was supposed to be trying to drive like humans did, carefully, but he found it so boring. He headed back to Ember Grove, his playground, and he wanted at least one more snack before dawn came. He remembered that he would have to make sure he didn’t leave another body laying around and that maybe, if he had time, he should clean up the male he left in the woods. Noah tried to remember these things but thoughts left his mind almost as quickly as they came. He parked the car, poorly, in someplace completely forgettable and as he looked for something to do, or someone to eat, and he forgot all about the body left in the woods.

Bowyn was about respond to Torvi when two elven women helped themselves to seats at their table. He and Torvi had chosen a table out of the way to avoid prying ears and as he took a glance across the bar, he could tell, that while business was picking up, there was plenty of room elsewhere for them. Typical of elves; assuming everyone wanted the pleasure, or more accurately, the inconvenience of their company. Anyone with the slightest hint of decency would’ve at least asked if they minded strangers joining their table, but he did not expect decency from the high and mighty elves.

“Why, no, these seats are not taken, feel free to sit here, complete strangers who have not bothered to introduce themselves.” Bowyn responded in a tone that was both dripping with contempt and sarcasm. He then helped himself to a piece of fruit from the blue haired elfs plate, figuring if they were going to be rude, he was more than happy to return the sentiment. “Please continue to inform us of the latest gossip. Did anyone die?” He added as he chewed, obnoxiously and with an open mouth, on the piece of stolen peach. He glanced over at Torvi and gave a smirk, she seemed to be greeting these elves much more cordially than he planned on doing. He could see why, they might have useful information, but he wasn’t generous with kindness and these elves had shown none so he planned to only match their demeanor. He wasn’t going to allow himself to be mistaken for weak either; Bowyn was no cheerful forest fae, flitting about with any creature that happened to be in the vicinity.

“I’m Bowyn, by the way, not that you bothered to ask.” He continued. “And my lovely companion,” He paused to gesture towards the merlin perched on his shoulder, ”Is called Boreas. Don’t be offended if he stays quiet though, he doesn’t normally care for elves.” He said as Boreas ruffled his feathers to add to the point. He would leave it to Torvi to introduce herself if she wished, and continued to drink of his mead.

Cade happily paid for the weapons Ayita had chosen, he had no desire to horde amas and seeing his friend happy and properly armed was more than enough to make him smile. She had chosen fine weapons as well, the knife in particular struck him as a thing of beauty. “Don’t be sorry, does your world not share the custom of giving friends gifts? You have shared such wonderful tales of your home and told so well sometimes I even felt that I was there. During our travels to Roshmi this brought me peace.” He said honestly, and as his way of vailing the message that there was no debt owed between them. Those who share battle, are in his mind, bonded in a way that debts do matter in much the same way it is with family. He would never expect a sibling to repay a kindness, nor would he expect it of someone who took up arms alongside him. Her question of how they would befriend the centaur and the faun stayed unanswered as he wasn’t sure how to best integrate with the strangers without drawing suspicion. But just as luck had brought them Sakura when the dragon had attacked, these rebellious strangers instead found their way to them.

Cade gently rested a paw on Ayita’s shoulder before continuing in a much more hushed tone. “It’s like I’ve said before, Avalia will aid us, this land wants noble warriors to defend her.” He was more confidant than ever that this was true. He turned his attention to the centaur who approached him and commented on his halberd. A large smile spread over Cade’s face at the complement.

“Thank you, made by own brother.” He said excitedly taking the weapon from his back and showing the centaur it’s craftsmanship. “A good eye you have, makes me wonder how you manage to miss your target.” He added boldly but in a voice barely louder than a whisper. He placed the halberd back on his back and gave a friendly smile. “I am Cadence of a Thunderstorm, most call me Cade. What do they call you, fellow warrior?” He asked the centaur as the mans companion, the faun, spoke to Sakura.

Liam was already in a heightened state from the scent of vampires in the air, and poised for attack as he heard the sounds of others approaching. Instead of murderous vampires however he saw two other werewolves, one with the red eyes of alpha. The odds of protecting the unconscious wolf certainly got a lot better, and he was relieved to find an alpha in Ember Grove, he was beginning to wonder if the wolves here had any sort of leadership. Another alpha was someone he could work with and someone who would know what the biggest threats of this town were. As the alpha of a pack that roamed, he liked setting up alliances with the alpha of whoever’s territory they were in, and with that came the need to ensure the other alpha would not see him as a threat to their leadership or territory.

Sounds like a good plan. I’m happy to follow your lead. He said, his posture relaxing some now that he knew he was in the presence of other wolves. He stood and bowed his head slightly showing the due respect to the other alpha and to the other the wolf who followed her.

Rest easy little wolf, you’re safe now. Liam spoke to the unconscious wolf, unsure if she could hear him or not but feeling the need to so none the less. He turned his attention back to the alpha and the other wolf. The threat still needed dealt with, no doubt three able bodied wolves could handle a few vampires, and he was eager for a good brawl.

You go left, I’ll go right, we’ll slaughter these leeches in the middle? He offered enthusiastically with an attempt at a grin that only served to show off his teeth. He sniffed the air for the scent of the enemy, their scent was stronger now; they were near. He was counting on the fact that these vampires were likely looking for one injured wolf and would not be counting on three more. An ambush to take them out quick and then they could focus on helping the injured friend.

Liam and his pack had been in Ember Grove for only a short amount of time but already this was a promising town. There was more supernatural activity going on here than even in many of the large cities he’d been too. Mysterious disappearances, high murder rates, and the unmistakable hint of blood that seemed to taint the air here. It would seem the rumors about this place were true, Ember Grove had it all; hunters, witches, and vampire threats lurking around every corner. With all it had going on finding wolves shouldn’t be much trouble either; with one new wolf already in their ranks. Only days after they had arrived in town and settled in the campgrounds, he had found another werewolf here with saddest eyes he’d ever seen. That wolf, Boris, was welcomed into the pack and the pack welcomed Boris, after all, to Liam, this was the purpose as of a family, of a pack. While the others of the pack where given assignments, to integrate into the town, sniff out threats, or search for other wolves or packs to help them, he gave none to Boris. Liam felt this new wolf needed time to adjust and wasn’t quite ready for pack work just yet.

Learning the layout of the town was easy enough, it was small and Liam had a keen sense of direction. He was glad to see it had a good amount of woods surrounding it and the campgrounds provided a perfect space for werewolves, most of his kind preferred the outdoors to small apartments or motel rooms. This preference worked to their advantage in a few ways, shying away from too many human comforts kept them from growing soft, it kept the pack together making it easier to look out for one another, and provided ample space for running, hunting, and training. With a pack that lived a nomadic lifestyle living in the woods or at campgrounds also helped keep living costs down. These were all considerations he had to keep in his mind as an alpha, he had to put the pack first, anticipate their needs, and constantly be on watch to ensure they were protected. If he didn’t, if he lost their trust, he wasn’t entirely sure what would come of all the wolves he’d banned together; would they wind up scattered and lost again or tear themselves apart with infighting?

Just as he allowed his wolves necessary breaks, Liam too took some nights to be alone, leaving his most trusted wolves in charge. There were two things in the world that allowed him to completely turn off his mind and enjoy the moment; riding his Harley and running as a wolf. As Ember Grove now fell under a cover of darkness, Liam elected for the later choice. Shifting into the large black werewolf that felt more like his true self than the body he was born with, he took to a section of the woods away from the campgrounds and the heavy burden of leadership. He ran feeling the cold autumn air through his thick fur and making a dinner of a few wild rabbits that also called these woods a home.

His peace was broken by a mournful cry and Liam froze as the sound of another wolf’s howl pierced through the forest. His ears pricked up and he sniffed the air, searching for the direction the howl came from and ran full force towards the cry. The closer he got the heavier the smell of blood became, and he could smell vampires in the area. The wolf he’d heard was in grave danger and he pushed himself to run faster. Liam nearly missed the injured wolf, her dark fur hiding her well as she lay curled up beneath a bush, but his nose caught her scent. He skittered quickly to a stop and crouched low to the ground, gently nudging the other wolf with his nose. For a second he worried she might be dead but he caught sight of her shallow breathing. He scanned the area and while he didn’t see the vampires yet he could smell them and they were close. He nudged the wolf once more hoping to wake her.

Time: Late Afternoon
Location: At sea, abord his ship The Mako
Interaction with: The crew of The Mako

The Mako sailed the high seas in search of its latest target, and it's captain, the infamous pirate hunter Kai Calder stood at the helm. For quite some time they had been in pursuit of particularly savage pirate known as Bastian “The Bloody Bastard” Kincaid, and his crew of the vessel know as The Serpent. This pirate and his crew had the reputation for leaving no survivors, be it naval vessels or merchant ships that they attacked, they slaughtered every soul they ran afoul in the sea leaving destruction in their wake. He ranked near the top of the list of hated pirates that Kai personally wanted to handle, a man for whom the noose would be too much of a kindness. As he stared off into the distance through a spyglass, he caught sight of the vessel they searched for, The Serpent was within his grasp.

“Set the air Djinn on increasing our speed, I want them using every bit of magic they can muster on the sails.” Kai ordered to his first mate, a gnome who moved with incredible speed. They had a handful of air Djinn on board who used their innate magic to manipulate the wind that blew their sails, allowing them to gain more quickly on enemy ships. Once his first mate was out accomplishing this task, Kai returned the spyglass to his pocket and addressed the crew.

“Dump all none essential cargo, and prepare the canons. Ahead lies The Serpent, and The Bloody Bastard himself. If we do not stop him now, know that every death his damned crew causes rests on the shoulders of everyone on this vessel. Prepare for battle, men, move!” He shouted, his voice echoing though out The Mako. Kai set to work ensuring that everything was being readied to his liking, lending a hand at whatever needed done.

“Captain!” Shouted a crewman from the crows’ nest. “There’s another vessel out there.” Kai drew the spyglass from his coat pocket and studied the other vessel, it was of the Glasston navy.

“The Avalon Avenger.” He said softly, knowing exactly what that boat was doing out here. “Why are we moving so damn slow! Pick up the pace or I will charge every one of you scallywags with treason!” He continued to shout, the Avenger was in danger, and her mission was one of even greater importance than pirate hunting right now. He sought out the dwarf who held the position of master gunner. “Ensure no friendly fire harms the Avenger, she is on a royal mission to find that stolen princess.” He commanded the gunner as they closed in on The Serpent.

“Aye, Captain.” Responded the dwarf. The situation appeared more dire than he originally thought, the pirates already had the Avenger under siege and immediately Kai understood why it had been so easy to spot the Serpent. He assumed that the rumors of this pirate ship were true, that they had several dark witches on board able to cloak the ship allowing them unprecedented ability to escape capture and leading to their success in stealthily overtaking other vessels. By now the dark witches were too distracted with the battle underway to cloak their ship, such treachery would require a great deal of concentration after all.

Once they were close enough the order was given to fire the cannons upon the pirates. The battle between the Avalon Avenger and The Serpent was already well under way, with the savage pirates having already boarded the naval vessel. The majority of his crew was to sink The Serpent, leaving these pirates with no escape while a select few would head out on the smaller boats, around to the other side of the Avenger to board and assist their fellow naval ship.

The day had been going well and the seas were calm, despite the strange siren the ship. Even so many of the crew remained on edge; the siren was seen as a bad omen, a strange and terrifying creature from the depths of seas and yet another female on the ship. Many of the navy shared the superstition that women brought bad luck aboard a ship. They already had a princess abord, this could not be helped, but a demon from the depths of Davy Jones’ locker, one known through myth to be creature that lured sailors to their deaths, caused an ominous feeling despite the calmness of the seas. Sylas wasn’t sure how much stock he placed in sailor superstitions but soon the calm air gave way to an eerie fog obscuring their surroundings, and this seemed to confirm these superstitions.

The enemy ship was not seen until it was too late, already close enough for pirates to begin boarding and with the men caught so entirely off-guard chaos fell around them. The dark ship sailed a black flag, featuring a skull enveloped by a snake, a flag that could only be taken for one flown by pirates. The enemies plan was clear by their lack of cannon fire; to overtake and loot the ship, then steal the prize of Glasston’s navy, the Avalon Avenger herself. As all chaos broke loose, men scrambled to fight back. While the mysterious fog dissipated with the pirate’s arrival, however, the ominous feeling persisted. Silas, along with the other crewmen who were the first to engage in the fight, desperately tried to beat the enemy back.

Grappling hooks were swung and caught the side of the Avalon Avenger, and Captain Kai Calder was the first to scurry up the rope and board the ship. With battle already underway he stood guard of the grappling hooks until the rest of his men managed to climb up from the boats as well. A loud crack cut through the sound of war cries and painful screams as the Mako succeeded in destroying the mast of the enemy pirate ship. Kai grinned knowing that now the enemy was trapped between two naval vessels, and soon the pirate ship would be sunk sending those that did not die in battle to face a watery grave.

Cutlass’s clashed and cannon fire raged as the battle intensified. The once clean deck of the Avenger was soon littered with blood and bodies. No ship in Glasston’s navy would surrender to pirates, and from what Kai knew of the Serpents reputation they would not give in easily either. Kai attacked every pirate in his vicinity with ferocity, a side of himself he was always happy to unleash in battle. The uniforms he and his men wore showed the crew of the Avalon Avenger that were allies, and he could only assume they were more than happy to receive aid.

In Aodh’s opinion there was no better way to end a day of hard work, than a night of drinking and celebration. So once Captain gave the order that the majority of them were free to enjoy the night, he indulged in more than a little rum. At first he kept an eye on Katurah as she entertained the crew, making sure that she stayed out of trouble and that no trouble found her either. He relaxed a lot more once he saw the kitten with Elenei, the gnome was more than capable of looking out for the fresh recruit. He also figured it was good for Katurah to have a bit of fun as well after having such an eventful first day on board. After enjoying a bit more rum and gambling with some of the crew Aodh eventually decided to look for Winifred. Having eaten nothing since leaving port Aodh was hungry and the ship’s cook always had food around.

“Winifred, what an absolute joy to find you. Got anything to eat?” He asked somewhat louder than necessary once he located the ship’s cook. He was grinning from the excess of rum and in a cheery mood. He knew some men took to raiding the kitchen on there own during festivities aboard the ship, but Aodh did not doubt that Winifred would notice anything out of place in her galley and he did not care to cross those he respected. Piracy was for outside the ship, not within it, and he considered it a great dishonor to steal from one's own crew.
