There must be hundreds, if not thousands, of incredible RP ideas that are wasted every year, due simply to a poorly formatted Interest Check. Shit's gotta pop off the screen and punch you in the face!

I'm actually less gone now than I have been for years. I've even joined a new RP, hoping it lasts!

Iwagakure | Chūnin | Hunter-nin

TIME: Present Day - Morning | LOCATION: Konohagakure - Exam Stadium | INTERACTION: @yoshua171@Ganryu@Spanner

"Hey, you two, want to team with me?"

Renji was stirred from his thoughts by the random question. When he turned to see where it had originated from, he was met with the bright and cheerful visage of a young, female shinobi who'd introduced herself by the name, Ai. His memory gave him no recollection of ever before seeing her face, though he could tell by the Iwagakure symbol on her clothing that she was a fellow Chūnin from the Hidden Stone. Renji had listened to the Hokage's speech and winced when it was suggested that they choose their own teams. In truth, he was very much a lone wolf, thanks to his past eight years of isolated service. Had it not been for this girl's forwardness, Renji would likely have chosen the combative route - though that's not to say collecting the aforementioned scrolls wouldn't involve any conflict.

By the time he began formulating his reply, the girl was joined by another referring to herself as Ayame - the supposed fourth member of their would-be team that Ai had briefly mentioned earlier. Another unrecognized face, though he was quick to notice her headband tied around her neck - Iwagakure again. He wasn't entirely sure but he thought he could see an uncanny resemblance between the two as they stood side by side. Renji frowned a little, dispelling the useless thought that had popped into his mind at that moment. It wasn't long afterward that a third voiced chimed in.

"I'm Hikaru, no fancy clan name in spite of me being a Kekkei user."

This face he did remember - or what was shown of it at least. Red hair with a bandaged face, it was none other than Iwagakure's Crimson Fiend. Renji had been tasked to shadow the young shinobi whilst the ANBU brass had considered recruiting him after the disbandment of the Explosion Corps. Their ultimate decision not to enlist him being based on the fact that his casually mentioned Kekkei Genkai meant that he was extremely proficient in blowing things up. And after shadowing him briefly, Renji was entirely inclined to agree with their assessment. Hikaru had never known he was followed of course - the ANBU Black Ops always made sure to scope out any potential members before inviting them to join - it had been one of the other few occasions that Renji had been permitted to remove his mask.

He allowed the others to finish talking, before finally introducing himself, "I am Renji." He began, pushing himself away from the post he'd been leaning on to stand and face them. "And I'm not surprised that you don't recognize me. Back home, it's my job to stay invisible." He stated, making direct eye-contact with Ai. Though he didn't explicitly want to reveal his position as an ANBU member, Renji thought it prudent to at least give his new teammates a clue. Maybe this small trusting of information would pay him back in kind later.

"Regarding the scroll, I'm not entirely fond of lightning." He said, recalling the element as one of his Kekkei Genkai's main weaknesses. "But this Exam is all about challenges. And challenges are made to be overcome." Renji finished, trying his best to give a friendly smile.

Iwagakure | Chūnin | Hunter-nin

TIME: Present Day - Morning | LOCATION: Konohagakure - Exam Stadium | INTERACTION: None

Renji had been standing amongst the others, unnoticed, for some time now. Long enough to roll his eyes at the spectacle his fellow shinobi, Rumia, was making of herself in front of the others. Nothing out of the ordinary, it seemed however, according to the things he'd heard back home in the Hidden Stone. 'Home...' He thought to himself. A Freudian slip, betraying his true wishes of secretly wanting to return to Shinkai Shūdōin - his true home. The last place where he felt he knew exactly who he was and what he was supposed to be doing. The only place where he felt his life held any real meaning. During his ten-year struggle to become the Kesshōken, Renji was driven solely by purpose. Now that he'd attained the mantle and was left to serve Iwagakure alone as a glorified retrieval dog, that strong sense of purpose had slowly been slipping away from him.

Life as a Hunter-nin was a lonely one, especially so for Renji. Due to the Kurogama Clan's agreement with the Tsuchikage, Renji was often sent out on missions alone in order to maintain secrecy. This was partly the reason why anyone at the Exam Stadium, his own countrymen included, had yet to notice him. Renji was good at blending into his surroundings, as any ninja should be. But when the past eighteen years of your life has been nothing but cloaks and daggers, you tend to perfect some skills to the point where you hardly even notice yourself doing them. Despite this however, the more likely reason was that, by and large, Renji remained rather unknown to his Iwagakure peers. His face wouldn't have been one easily recognised simply because he spent most of his time behind an ANBU mask. This exam was one of the few times he'd been allowed to remove it.

As he stood, leaned against a wooden post, Renji pulled over the large hood of his sleeveless jacket that bore his toned arms. The sudden thought of his mask reminding him that his face was currently on show. An uncomfortable feeling to say the least, especially when he'd been tasked with wearing it at all times whilst out in public. Why the Tsuchikage had allowed for him to remove it during the exam was as much a mystery to him than to any one of his ANBU handlers. He'd even allowed him a change from his usual attire, the sleeveless jacket with the accompanying baggy pants that tapered in at the calves being a far cry from his ANBU uniform. Maybe the Tsuchikage had a new purpose for the Kesshōken? One that he was not yet ready to reveal, even to Renji. Or maybe turning up fully adorned in ANBU attire would raise just as many eyebrows as it would questions?

Whatever the reason, it had allowed Renji to relax a little before coming here. The outfit he currently wore was styled in the fashion of his monastery garbs, though his original garments had long since perished due to simple wear and tear. They reminded him of home, his real home. His mind drifted back to the day he'd left the monastery, having just defeated Gibari and Talia in a three-way fight for the honour of becoming the Kesshōken - The Crystal Fist. The name itself made it seem as if there was only ever one master of the Shōton Kekkei Genkai but Renji knew this not to be true. Talia was still alive, he'd made sure of it. Renji's elbow strike that she'd taken to the head had not, in fact, hit her square upon the temple - a move that would have instantly killed her, as he'd been trained to do. Instead he'd placed it higher, merely grazing the left side of the frontal lobe in order to knock her out cold.

By the time she'd have come around, Renji would have already been named the victor and sent on his pilgrimage to Iwagakure. He'd made a vow that day to go back, if he ever could, to fight her again. But after living as a slave to the Hidden Stone for the past eight years, a mere pawn in the game that was the Kurogama Clan's agreement with the Tsuchikage, Renji had changed his vow. Rather than fight her, he would go back in order to free her. The idea of it was ludicrous at the time but every passing day filled him with even more resolve. Before then, however, he had to improve himself. To improve upon the weakened version of the Kesshōken that the monastery had been churning out for the Iwagakure to keep on a leash. He needed to become stronger. And the next obstacle he needed to pass in order to achieve that strength was upon him - The Jōnin Exam.
Renji Kurogama - Abyssal Onyx Mirror, how long does it take to crystallize an acre of land? Like how long does an opponent have to dodge this? Also specify that casting time in seconds or # of posts.

Well, considering the size of the Jutsu and the advantage Renji gains once it's cast, It should probably take at least 2 posts minimum to cast. Unless you feel differently, in which case I'm happy to go longer.

In regards to dodging, the main things to dodge would be the spikes/fissures, though they aren't instantaneous attacks. If anything they're supposed to be used to catch an opponent off-guard in order to setup for another attack or jutsu. Therefore most, if not all, Chuunin-level ninja & above should be able to dodge them quite simply under completely normal circumstances. It's possible for an opponent to escape the crystallized area using whichever mobility/flight jutsu they prefer or by simply climbing any structure or tree that might populate the area.

Apologies for the delayed response.
Personality & History are still WIP. Jutsu are still subject to change (Weaknesses/Limits mostly).

Which two villages are we doing exactly? Konoha seems obvious, but what's the second?

Konoha and Iwaga
I'm in.
@Shiny Keldeo I'd be willing to discuss it further in a PM with you, to save clogging up the OOC. But it's past 3am where I am, so I'll have to send it to you in a few hours or so.
Hey, I just wanted to express my interest for this RP. I will warn you that I've never actually played a Pokemon RP before, but they seem to be quite popular on the Guild these days so I thought I'd at least give one of them a shot.

Having read through the IntChk, I saw some mention of there being a need for Experienced Trainers amongst the lineup. Trainers who, I assume, may already possess one or two Stage 2 Pokemon. As such, I'd like to know if it's possible for my character to have both Umbreon and Espeon? I figure that they're probably a stupidly generic pairing but I haven't really played much of the many New Gen games, so my knowledge is kinda stuck in the dark ages where Pokemon is concerned.

If it's any consolation, I have thought up a bit of backstory that could give reason as to why my character would possess both an Umbreon and Espeon in the first place. Put simply, Karma and his twin sister Celestia were both given Eevee's as their starter Pokemon. Naturally, over time and with rigorous training, the two Eevee's evolved into their current respective forms. However, tragedy strikes soon after as it often does, with Celestia being kidnapped by an unknown group for unknown reasons. Though it is presumed to have something to do with their father's research. With her Trainer gone, Espeon looks to Karma in order to save Celestia and agrees to follow him until he manages to return her. Obviously, there would be initial teething problems between the two, meaning that Karma wouldn't be able to fully control Espeon properly during battles. But I'd like to think that their teamwork would vastly improve during the course of the RP.

Let me know what you think, please. I'd be happy to start over if it all seems a little Farfetch'd (:P). But it's definitely a character plot that I think I could enjoy playing out. :)

Should have my post done tonight after work. It's only half-written atm.
