Dropping the contest-given sword on the ground Artorigus followed his clan leaders’ example and stepped through the portal in to the Spectres clan ship, the strange device depositing him in a communal area somewhere near the crew quarters. A quick glance around showed him that the only other person there was Ekloria, none of the other clan members had returned yet and if what their leader said was correct none of them would be; it was hard to believe this infection was anything other than some weird debuff, no matter what the guy in the robe had said. Maybe this quest was just a big game of infection, one of those specialised matches held on Planet Doom sometimes where whenever someone died they joined the other team. If people really were infected they might be locked out of the clan for the duration of this quest.

Artorigus headed towards his quarters in the crew section to retrieve his normal gear, removing the samurai armour as he walked. Upon reaching his room he opened up his menus again and began sending out clan invites to everyone he had ever met which, since he had travelled far and wide in search of weapons was quite a few people; of particular note was a guy who frequented the Dark Souls areas of Sanctuary, wearing some weird amalgamation of armour and generally taking the RP side of things a little far, and another guy who called himself a mage and was trying to make a magic-only build work in a game that seemed determined to make that as hard as possible. They were both kind of eccentric but given his own peculiarities he supposed he couldn’t say much.

Returning to the communal area with his gear in tow, Artorigus sat down on a couch and waited until Ekloria returned. “My place is safe already; I wouldn’t risk spending so much time here if I didn’t think it was. If I can trust it to keep burglars out I can trust it now.”

At the mention of Anti-Viral Artefacts he leaned back in his seat and opened up the store for himself, letting out a whistle as he saw the prices even the weakest Anti-Viral Artefacts were going for. “This guy’s really got everyone in a panic; no way are we getting our hands on one of those without a fight. If we can’t buy them then we’ll have to earn them, through quests or some other way. We’ll have to avoid the most obvious places too, since they’ll be swarming with people looking to get one for themselves.” Closing the store Artorigus turned to his clan leader as he thought about the kind of places that might be giving away Anti-Viral Artefacts. “We could try the Megaman worlds? The Battle Network series was all about fighting viruses, the computer kind at least; might be a few options there. Or since this is based on the Flood we could always just go to the Halo and farm for some Sentinal Beams; those things are a dime a dozen.”

Once he had finished placing a Shield on the Dire Rats Oberon continued his short tour of the bonfire area and flew towards the last place he had seen Digbie. The little green Goblin was standing on an elevated ledge and was looking out towards the approaching mass of torches; as Oberon grew closer he could see that Digbie had his hands clasped together in front of him and as he approached the Pixie could just make out a light murmuring, almost as if the Goblin was praying.

“Hey, Digbie. What are you…?”

Before Oberon could finish his sentence Digbie suddenly screamed out and collapsed to the ground, rolling around in the dirt and clutched at his head. Accelerating forwards Oberon was kneeling at the Goblin’s side in moments, using Magical Analysis to try and determine what was wrong with his ally; this proved rather moot however as Digbie’s next scream made it painfully obvious what the issue was.

“A headache?” It must have quite a headache to cause this kind of reaction. But then, Oberon knew exactly what that was like didn’t he. It was only yesterday that he had experienced a similar migraine after attempting to test just how much this world resembled the video games he had played in his past life. It was that experience that had led to him first trying to create some kind of status removal spell which, luckily for Digbid, he now had.

Reaching out to place a hand on Digbie shoulder Oberon sought to still the Goblin’s rolling so that he could heal him. “Stay still Digbie, I’m going to heal you.” Placing his other hand on the Goblin’s forehead Oberon focused his mana and cast Lesser Status Heal on Digbie, hopefully curing him of his migraine.

@Parzivol it's more a question of deciding who gets it afterwards.
@Parzivol in my next post I was going to send out the invite to your character, since Ekloria said for us to invite everyone we know who isn't clanned up already, so you can go ahead and say you got an invite from Artorigus if you want. Let's say they bumped into each other while Artorigus was getting his Demon's Spear.
Turning his attention away from the ever approaching lights of the Goblin’s torches, Oberon looked down at the area around the campsite and saw that everyone else was already preparing for the assault; the other Pixie flew off towards the Goblins clutching something grotesque in his hands, the Slimes also left either to find a vantage point or on a course to circle around the torches, while the rats seemed to be either digging a trench or covering themselves with mud; maybe both.

Fortunately he had been able to finish learning Mana Dart in time but with the Goblin horde growing closer it seemed like Oberon’s time was up; right now he needed to help prepare for the inevitable battle and as the support he knew what role he would be most useful in. Mana Dart would come in handy when the Goblins arrived but at the moment his time and mana was best spent buffing the others, not on a pre-emptive strike.

Swooping back down towards the ground Oberon stopped off at the pile of mana crystals and grabbed one in each hand before flying over to the Lizard who was still spitting small clouds of poison into the air; perhaps she was trying to achieve something different with her abilities the same way he was. Careful not to get to close to the toxic vapours, Oberon raised a hand and prepared to cast Shield on the Lizard before a thought occurred to him. Earlier he had tried to cast a Shield spell using nature mana and had gained some experience in the Minor Regeneration skill, but the ability itself failed to activate and he had instead produced a regular shield as always; since he was going to be running around casting Shield on everyone he might as well try and earn a new ability while he was at it.

Letting a smile creep across his face Oberon raised his hand again and cast Shield, but as he did so he attempted to bring forth the same kind of energy that he used when he cast Minor Heal like he had tried to do with the Dire Rat earlier. The result was what he had expected, the tell-tale shimmer of a shield being applied, but with any luck in the background he was accumulating experience towards a new ability.

Leaving the Lizard behind Oberon next flew over to where he had seen the rats huddling together. It took longer than he expected, dug into a foxhole and covered in mud as they were, and he almost missed them entirely; it was only the fact he had seen them earlier that let him find them and cast his shield on them. The Dire Rat he had healed earlier still had a shield so he focused on the large rat and the smaller one who he had seen earlier, once more trying to use nature mana to create the effect.

Do the Shouts from the Amulet of Kings count as Spells?

When you say the Amulet gives you access to Shouts, do you mean that you have the still find the Shouts separately or do the Shouts come with the Amulet?

If its the latter then I think abilities granted by items don't counts as spells, i.e. they wouldn't need to go in the spellbook but would need to have cool downs or some other cost to be balanced.

If its the former then I'd say that Artefact probably needs some reworking. I don't like the idea of a set of spells only being accessible if you have a certain Artefact since the Shouts should already be Artefacts themselves and with the spellbook there is already a restriction on how many you can have at once. Honestly, being able to turn into an avatar of Akatosh is probably strong enough for a rare Artefact since it is at least equivalent if not stronger than the Ultraman Artefact from the book.

Maybe change the Amulet to just have an extremely long cool down instead of breaking and remove the part about needing it to use Shouts?
For those who may not have seen yet, Burning Kitty and I have added new characters to the RP who will appear later on.

You can blame me for the reforms to the way spells work.
