My introductory post is up; hopefully it was worth the wait.
The phone on her bedside table lit up as it received another message, illuminating the dark bedroom as the device drifting across the wooden surface as it vibrated. Lazily lifting a hand up and stretching her arm over to it she dragged the mobile towards her and tilted to screen so she could see what it said; one of her ‘friends’ wanted help studying for an upcoming math test and of course they it was her they came to first. With a sigh she quickly tapped out a response to the request before throwing the device back down on the mattress and burying her face back into her pillow.

It was less than a minute later before the phone began vibrating again, no harsh light filling the room this time with the mobile screen down on the bed but she could feel the vibrations through the mattress. Lifting herself off of the bed Erika turned over so that she was lying on her back, giving up on the idea of having a moment’s peace and quiet. It was a different person this time, another ‘friend’ inviting her to a sleep over next week.

Erika frowned at the screen, staring at the message with the obnoxious number of emojis before tapping out another response and dropping the phone onto her stomach. She’d have to attend the sleepover, there was no way around it; parties she could ignore with excuses about other engagements or wanting to get an early night, double dates she avoided with her usual excuse of wanting to stay single till college, but for things like this she needed to put in some effort if she didn’t want people to start asking questions. One whole night where she’d have to keep up the façade the entire time; at least it was on a school night, so she could make an excuse to retire early if she was getting frustrated.

Her head dropped onto the pillow and she stared at the ceiling, eyes glazing over as she tried to let her mind just drift away. The spell broke when she felt her phone vibrate again, this time directly on her stomach. The screen illuminated her room with its searing blue light, revealing a room filled with typical teenage girl paraphernalia; the walls were adorned with posters for bands she’d never listened to, but whose albums she could all name from memory, and pictures of male models she despised but whose entire history she could recite if needed. Her vanity was covered with make-up kits and fashion magazines and the floor was home to a number of stuffed animals that had been thrown from her bed so she could slump down in their place.

Reaching behind her head Erika lifted the pillow she was lying on out from under her and raised it above her face. She lowered it down till it covered her head, drowning out the sounds of the phone to an extent while also making it difficult to breathe, and held it there for a few seconds before letting it go. Throwing the pillow to the side she reached down and recovered her phone, holding it over her face to see the screen, expecting to see another message with a request for help she would need to deal with or sending an invitation to something she would have to find a way out of.

It was neither of those. Instead it was a message from a number she didn’t recognise containing nothing but junk text, just a mass of random characters that filled the screen. Was this some kind of prank? Was it someone from school playing a trick on her or maybe some new chain letter that she was supposed to forward on?

Staring at the screen in confusion Erika felt a headache coming on the longer she looked at it; it was even starting to look like the characters were changing and dancing around the screen. Sitting up on her bed Erika tried to back out of the message, only to find that she couldn’t. No matter what button she pressed her phone wasn’t responding; had she been sent a virus? Was her phone being hacked? The more she looked at the randomly shifting characters the more it seemed like there were actual words or phrases mixed in with the noise. Eventually, one by one, some of the characters in the middle of the jumble began to lock into place, slowly beginning to form a message.

Bearer located

A circle a light suddenly erupted around her, bright shining white replacing the blue that lit her room as Erika dropped her phone in shock. Before she could even think of trying to run, the centre of the circle opened up into nothingness and Erika was swallowed up.

@Polyphemus I'll try and get a CS up for my human character today, but I haven't heard anything back about The Seraph. I finished her CS a few days ago and tagged you in a message.
@Weird Tales I probably shouldn't do anything until I see whether or not Gor Dae bit Raditz head off.
@CaptainSully I'm interested in taking part in this. Gotta love a good nostalgia RP.

I'll probably make a character who, like yours, is more focused on martial arts than ki beams; I like the idea of a character who's more skilled than he is powerful.
“You’re not wrong, but something just tells me now is a good time to leave.” Now that Oberon thought about it, he didn’t really know why that was. He remembered a vague sense of dread in the moments after he had awoken after evolving, a memory of something experienced while in a dream-like state that told him it was a good idea to leave the cave. Time had made that memory fuzzier and being distracted while speaking to Jason and the others hadn’t helped.

Even if he didn’t remember exactly why it was important to leave however, the presence of the undead was still a convincing reason.

The Slime, Asura, then mentioned something about wanting to defeat one of every type of creature in the cave as well as only wanting to grind while he was alone. “It’s probably best not to get too caught up in the idea of this place being a video game. If you want to come with us you can; I want to try and meet up with the others as soon as possible, I imagine most of us could use some sleep after today.”

@Kazemitsu
“Maybe they only want to protect their artefacts from you. Is that why you’ve been causing them so much trouble? Because you suspect them of conspiring against us?” Rider turned his head to regard Archer; the man was young, not that he of all people could judge another for that, and seemed to be a bit of an eccentric. He was not a fool though, so if he thought the church had ulterior motives then perhaps he should start paying attention to their actions himself. “People are simple; likely they only mean to cheat us out of the Grail once the Greys are dealt with; one of our Masters is a member of the church, they only need to ensure he wins. Defeating the red faction is only the first part of this war after all; I’m sure we are all taking steps to ensure our victory.”

“Just because there are more exits doesn’t mean these tunnels are any safer.” Dieter let out a sigh and followed the other Magus down the steps into the tunnels. It seemed that arguing wasn’t going to get him anywhere with Leon or the others; not that arguing ever seemed to do much good anyway. His concerns were almost always ignored.

“If the Greys control the Grail and managed to hold on to it until the end of this war, they won’t just be able to make one wish. They’ll be able to control the next war as well and the war after that.” Dieter stopped in front of one door and pushed it open hesitantly, sighing again once he saw the dull grey concrete walls and simple furnishings. “Though perhaps I am over thinking things; maybe the one wish they have is worth risking everything for.”

“I suppose we will be visiting the more disreputable parts of town then. Perhaps we can put the criminal element here to use in finding the other Masters; it would make up for my lack of familiars.” Checking his pockets one last time, mostly to ensure his poppet was in place, Thomas opened the door to the suite; he let Archer leave ahead of him before following and locking the door. A short hallway led them to the elevator which Thomas called for, entering when it arrived and pushing the button to take them to the ground floor. The elevator proceeded without interruption; at this time of night no other guests were trying to use it. As they descended the Magus could feel the moment they crossed the boundary of the bounded field he had established, the field covering the entire top two floors of the building and much of the space around it, signalling the moment they were no longer protected.

“How adventurous are you feeling tonight Archer? We could simply take a walk around town and see what we find but if we truly hope to catch sight of one of our opponents we will have to take risks; go to the places the other Magus are likely to be and hope that they do not take us for anything more than what we present ourselves to be. At this early stage the other Masters will still be seeking to announce themselves to the Executioner, but we risk revealing ourselves if we are seen at the church at this late hour.”

As they reached the ground floor the elevator announced their arrival with a ding before the doors opened. Thomas stepped out first before stopping and turning back to face his Servant. “You are more experienced in these matters than I. What would you suggest we do first?”

Rider tensed as both Assassin and her Master rose to face him, the Servant summoning her sword to her hands and the young woman placing a hand on the rather more mundane weapon by her side; the warrior widened and lowered his stance, turning slightly and raising the shield to cover more of his body, the grip on his scimitar tightening as he readied himself. Assassin accepted his challenge, taking her own stance, apparently preparing to fight him head on; this was counter to his expectations and immediately Rider began to reassess the situation. This Servant did not look uncertain in her abilities with a sword, though that could be a façade designed to make him hesitate it was something to consider.

A moment after speaking Assassin looked suddenly unsure, speaking over her shoulder to her Master in a voice too low for Rider to hear. Her Master’s answer however, he could hear. “Are you suggesting an alliance?” It wasn’t said outright, but the suggestion was there; to form a partnership that would allow them to defeat opponents they couldn’t defeat by themselves. If that was indeed what she was suggesting, then Rider would reject it. Assassin was often a Servant who was weak in direct combat, but left unchallenged could become a threat that hung over the heads of every Master in the war. Even just a pact of non-aggression would benefit them for more than he and his Master. Better to remove the threat now.

However, he would not be the only one to make that decision. Ultimately it was his Master’s choice as well and no doubt he was listening to this conversation through his familiar. He would have to wait and see what he thought of this as well, before giving his answer.

It seemed that his analysis abilities had a range to them after all and weren’t just limited by what he was able to see; it made sense in a way, though it was frustrating, if he couldn’t see something clearly, he wouldn’t be able to accurately analyse it. Regardless, even with the lack of information it was clear to him that the light he was watching was a Wisp, though it was moving rather erratically. It didn’t seem to be coming any closer either way so it was of no concern to him right now.

Ed caught his attention, the Dire Rat sniffing around on the ground and picking up the scent of another group of creatures. The two Lizards would be Ash and Reoth, with Ash being the larger one of course and there would be Orchid as well, but Ed didn’t mention her. “Yeah. Mourningstar was with two Lizards and a Goblin; one of the Lizards had evolved.”

The Dire Rat turned to Digbie and asked to be held above the Goblin’s head so he could see further. It seemed that Ed had better senses than him or the others, judging by the way he could track scents and thought he could see all the way to the entrance of the cave from here; was that something all Dire Rat’s had or was it something Ed had learned over time? Unfortunately, he couldn’t remember all of what the other starting creature’s abilities were.

As this was going on a Slime approached them. They looked different from the regular Slimes, being somewhat translucent in the outer portion of their body and seeming a little less gelatinous and more liquid in nature. Oberon thought he’d seen a Slime with the same body colour earlier; was this the same Slime evolved or something different? He could speak, which meant he was probably another former human like themselves. Oberon used Monster and Magic Analysis on the Slime to find out for sure.

“We’re leaving the cave. For good, maybe. It’s not safe to stay here with all these undead spawning and to be honest I’m starting to miss sunlight. Some people are staying but the rest of us are leaving; we’re meeting the others by the entrance.”
