Ok, never played with Links so this will be a learning experience. Might have to do some research before I jump in to this.

@King Cosmos We meet again.

...Sorry for leaving Harmonia out to dry like that.

Plenty of people dropped out before you. Unfortunately we went months without a post because everyone was writing duels at the same time; kind of a hazard with this kind of RP I guess.
@1Charak2 Just to make sure I'm understanding that new rule properly. As long as you control an extra deck monster in your extra deck zone, you can summon other monsters of the same type that are a lower rank or level than that monster, in any other monster zone?

What happens if the card in your extra deck zone is destroyed? Are all your other extra deck monsters destroyed or returned to the extra deck as well? Or do you move the next highest level monster to that zone?
Jangar

Latin District, heading towards the Canal District

"Unfortunately Master, I have no more information to give about the fight; I have no idea if it was a Master or a Servant who died. That is the problem with using birds as scouts I'm afraid; painfully observant, but not very good with the finer details. They don't pay much attention to people unless they have food in their hands."

With the declaration that they would be heading towards the Canal district and this hidden area rather than the gathering of Servants, Jangar inclined his head towards his Master in a small bow. "That is the wisest course of action I feel. I am ready to fight at a moments notice, but a skirmish of that magnitude would be a dangerous proposition. Come! Let us head towards the Canal district and rout out this hidden workshop. I will ask my friends to guide us to its location and we will see what we can find."

Things were not going how she expected them to; which was a somewhat embarrassing turn of events for someone who could divine the future such as her. The city was far more active than she had expected for the first night, or perhaps it was fate that had brought so many Servants and Masters together in one place. A simple scouting expedition had turned into something so much more; something dangerous, but also filled with potential.

An alliance. It was something that she had not considered, given the cut throat nature of the war she was now a part of, but while she didn't find all of this knight's terms agreeable she was more open to the possibility than she thought she would be. She would need to consider this offer more carefully later, but for now it seemed that there was yet another later arrival to contend with.

Remaining a passive observer was no longer an option, now that they had revealed themselves. It was time to give Ogier a little more agency.

"Saber. You're free to engage in combat if you wish."

Oberon opened his eyes. Despite his fatigue, his mind just wasn't tired enough to fall asleep even though his body desperately needed the rest at this point; too many thoughts buzzing around his head to just let himself drift off.

He sat up and climbed to his feet before walking out of the cave. If he wasn't going to be getting any sleep he might as well do something productive with his time instead; though with his stamina still drained and his mana reserves depleted, not to mention this Mana Burn condition he had, there wasn't much he could do.

The first thing he needed to do was recover his lost mana. His rest in the cave had restored some of it but he was still low, so he found a quiet patch of grass in the sun and sat down with his legs crossed before using both Meditation and Gather Light until his mana was fully restored. Once that had been done he just needed to decide what to work on now; given that his last experiment had proven that it was possible of overexert yourself magically it was probably best to keep things simple and not push himself any further. At least not until this status condition went away.

With that in mind it was probably best to focus on practicing his current skills or maybe try and complete a skill he had in progress rather than try anything new and potentially dangerous. Continuing to improve Mana Shape could prove useful in the future, both for creating new spells and also for creating more complex images. Working on developing more Shield spells using different mana types or trying to cast Shield on multiple targets at once was also an option. But what he eventually decided on was trying to complete a spell he had first cast accidentally back before all of this madness had started.

Like he had done back then, what felt like months ago at this point, he formed an orb of mana between his hands and then cast Shield on it. The nascent Mana Orb should absorb the additional mana of the Shield spell, perhaps also taking on some of its qualities and becoming solid as a result. Through repeating this process Oberon hoped to complete the development of the Wall spell.

Foreign District, moving to the Latin District

“Ah, if what you seek is to learn more of our opponents then perhaps we should ask the birds what they know. They see the world much more clearly than we do and I’ve found them to be of great help in the past.”

Lancer walked away from his Master, approaching a nearby group of pigeons that were always so abundant in large cities such as this. He called out to them before they could be spooked by his approach and fly away, using Animal Dialogue to convey his desires to them; a few minutes later the birds dispersed, flying away in a fluttering of wings in the direction of the Latin district as Jangar returned to his Master’s side with a grin on his face and pigeon perched on his shoulder.

“They have agreed to assist us Master. My new friends will fly over the Latin district for us and take a look around, talking to others they find and learning what they know before coming back to me.” Lancer tilted his head to look at the bird standing on his shoulder, bringing Jackson’s attention to it as if it was possible he could have not noticed the flying rat eyed him suspiciously. “This little one will fill me in on what he knows of the area while we make our way there. We’ll have to move slowly so as not to disturb him, but that’ll just give my friends more time to search for our enemies.”

With that said Jangar led the trio north towards the Latin district, Jackson at his side and his feathered companion on his shoulder. Luckily he was wearing clothing gifted to him by his Master rather than his armour and robes, a rather nice suit that was not out of place when compared with Jackson’s own attire, so travelling by foot and in material form was not an issue, but even with his disguise the group attracted unwanted attention due to the peculiar sight that made for. Jangar conversed with the pigeon the entire way, unfortunately finding that this particular bird didn’t know much about current goings on in the city and was more interested in having a friendly chat instead. While not especially informative it was still a pleasant if somewhat simplistic conversation that helped pass the time while they walked.

By the time they had made it to the Latin district the other pigeons Jangar had conversed with earlier had completed their reconnaissance of the area and were waiting for them to arrive; Jangar approached them to listen to their report, his friend hopping off of his shoulder to re-join the group as he did so. After another few minutes of conversation Jangar returned to Jackson with a thoughtful expression on his face.

“You were right Master, there is much going on in the Latin district tonight. Several Servants and Master’s appear to be gathering in one place, but they aren’t fighting yet; perhaps an alliance is brewing. Another two Servants were fighting north of here as well, but that fight is already over; they didn’t see what happened but of the five people involved only four left.

“But what is most interesting is that they told me there is an area further north of here, in the Canal district, that all animals and people avoid. It sounds like it could be the base of another Magus Master; a bounded field to keep people away. We should investigate and see what we can find.”

Berserker was nothing if not determined, driven by a single-minded purpose as he charged towards Rider and her line of cannons without fear or caution. The red glow of the magically charged artillery and the shining light of Rider crown were reflected in the mad warriors glowing eyes.

The cannons fired simultaneously once Berserker was close enough that dodging would be impossible, their gunpowder bark deafening in its intensity and its payload of ownerless Noble Phantasms deadly in its lethality. The makeshift grapeshot of sword, spears, arrows and daggers tore through the air at high speed and pierced Berserker’s hide. With the inhuman reactions of a legendary warrior and the fleeting self-preservation instincts of a deranged mind he brought the indestructible club his held in front of his body to block as many of the weapons as possible, but this didn’t stop the hail of projectiles from ripping through his body and inflicting a devastating amount of damage.

Berserker dropped to his knees in front of Rider, his club stabbed towards the ground to support his upper body the only thing preventing him from falling any further. Spears and swords protruded from his stomach, chest and left shoulder, while his right side was mostly clear of injury having been protected by the Noble Phantasm in his remaining hand. His head was also almost untouched, his burning gaze still locked on the Russian empress’s own and his jaw clenched in fury.

Blood pooled on the ground around the Servant. Blood from injuries that should have started healing by now. Blood from injuries that shouldn’t have been visible in the first place due to the nature of his skill, born from the fact that Harald was called ‘The Unwounded’ in life. It was now becoming evident that something had changed within Berserker, the effects of the shadow that had merged with the Servant and the curse it had carried with it making themselves evident by suppressing the skills that made Berserker so formidable, so unstoppable earlier.

A single, golden spear pierced Berserker chest on the left side under his ribs. The weapon had struck his heart and rent it in two. His Battle Continuation would allow him to move for a while longer still, but with his healing suppressed the injury would surely be fatal unless something could be done.

Nonetheless, until his end came there was still some life in Berserker yet. Using his club to pull himself up and forward the warrior climbed back to one knee before letting go of the weapon and lunging for Rider with his one remaining hand. The mad Viking would attempt to grab the enemy Servant by the throat with his powerful grip and squeeze the life out of them as his dying act.

"Y-you... do you m-mean it, keekee?"

Akeno placed a hand on her hip as she watched Yakkaimori practically shrink to an even smaller size as she folded in on herself, a small frown furrowing her brow. Anyone who had seen Yakkaimori during her demonstration would be able to guess that she was the shy type, maybe a little insecure and lacking in confidence as well, but Akeno hadn’t expected an abundance of self-doubt from the small girl.

“Of course I do; the way you made your way around that maze, I’m sure your Quirk will be useful in the forest. I’ll be glad to snatch you up before anyone else tries to team up with you.” Smirking confidently, Akeno reached out and gently placed a hand on the smaller girl’s shoulder. “You want to team up with Azukina-san, yeah? Let’s go talk to her then.”

Lancer stepped outside and approached the white haired Magus, his gaze directed upwards at the illuminated buildings that surrounded them; the artistic architecture was unlike anything he had seen in life, a modern city the size and scale of Paris a marvel to him. “To call such a vibrant and beautiful city a battlefield…” The young man let out a sigh.

The thought of the city and its people becoming embroiled in this war between heroes, that Paris should suffer any kind of damage due to this war, caused Lancer some anguish. He would have to ensure that he did his best to keep such carnage to a minimum as he fought, as best he could, like he had done in the past as he had protected Bomba from its enemies. His own home was gone, lost to time, he was a king without a kingdom; until such a time as Bomba could be restored he would just have to make himself the protector of this city instead. It would soon belong to his Master after all.

“Well, you are not wrong Master. Come; let us end this war as soon as possible, so that we may make our vision for a peaceful world a reality.”

A sigh escaped the Magus’ lips as Ogier responded to her question. While under normal circumstances she might have found her Servant’s ebullient manner charming, right now all she wanted from the knight was some professionalism. “Yes, I meant Servants and Masters. I’m glad you’re enjoying Paris Saber, but please try to stay focused on the matter at hand.”

She could well understand Ogier’s desire to fight; he was a knight after all and this city was about to become one of the greatest battlegrounds that had ever existed. It was a rare occasion for so many strong and powerful heroes to gather in one place for the sole purpose of facing each other in combat. Nonetheless, he was known as the Knight of Patience, so he would just need to restrain himself for now and wait for the right moment; his turn would come in time.

“It doesn’t matter if they spot you Saber, so long as you can avoid a direct conflict where possible. Defend yourself if you have to, even kill them if you think you can, but your focus should be to observe and to escape. There’s no merit to this if you die or give away as much as you learn.”

“Saber.”

Within the safety of her workshop, sat in the dark on a surprisingly comfortable sofa, Cleo Forsberg reached across the link connecting the Magus to her Servant.

“Have you found anything yet?”

The Servant was currently far away from her current location, dispatched as soon as night had fallen with orders to find and observe as many enemy Servants as possible without engaging them in combat. The first night of this war would be spent gathering as much information as possible, both about her opponents and her own ally. She sought to identify her enemies while at the same time testing how well Saber’s personality would match with her own; a scouting mission that put neither her nor Saber at risk as she settled into her position as Master.

All things considered she had been incredibly fortunate to be able to summon a French hero of all possibilities, not to mention one of the famed paladins of Charles the Great himself; a knight of great renown such as Ogier would be a powerful adversary in a war fought so close to the source of his legend, but that didn’t make her so confident as to abandon all strategy and subtlety. There would be no fighting this first night if everything went as she intended, not until she was surer of her victory. Let the rest of the Master’s deal with each other while she waited and planned and prepared; the Forsberg’s were nothing if not those who looked ahead. This would likely only be the first of many nights like this.

As she waited for Saber’s report she checked in on her other scouts; a handful of wraiths drawn to her and brought into her service and fortified earlier today. In time she would have other uses for them but for now they made useful lookouts, one whom had spent the past few hours searching the areas around her apartment searching for other bounded fields with no success. Now she directed them elsewhere, diverting their attention away from building and towards the streets; half to sweep across the Foreign district and the other to search the Latin district.

Now that night was upon them it wouldn’t just be Ogier who was running around Paris. Other Servants would be in play as well and if she was lucky she just might get to see one or more of them in action before the night was over.
