The others started joining them at the entrance one after the other. It seemed that no one really wanted to be late for their Poke Adventure. It almost made him feel like they were all kids again taking the first step that they all missed out on long ago. Dante still wasn't quite sure if he was actually ready to do this, but at this point it seemed way too late to turn back and forget all about this foolish dream. He doubted the others would've let him go back home, especially not Kat. And there was no way he was going to look weak in front of Cho. But all of those very good reasons for moving forward paled in comparison to the worry that he'd let his brother down if he didn't go through with this.
Dante released all of the excess thoughts from his mind. They were a product of his fear and overthinking and he wasn't going to let them drag him down before this journey even started. He let out a deep exhale and smiled before looking around the others. They were all excited and raring to go except for a particular screeching Natu. For some reason he had a feeling it wasn't freaking out from excitement. He decided it would be best to put that potential omen out of his mind.
The re-meet and greet quickly turned into the departure once Kiel arrived. It had been years since he's left town and he was as enthusiastic and quick footed as ever. He didn't even check and make sure everyone actually had been there. Though Dante himself wasn't sure exactly how many were supposed to tag along on their journey. Their group seemed rather big already. While he was busy counting Spirit had snuck away in pursuit of Kiel or rather what rested on his head. The cute and curious ghost caught up to his target and cut the two off by making a sharp turn to appear in front of Kiel's face.
Dante's attention however was turned to a face he never imagined he'd see again. He was suddenly hit by a wave of flashbacks of their greatest misadventures. He almost hadn't recognized Flynn, not with that hair at least. That was definitely new and so was the Oddish that accompanied them. But there was no way Dante would've forgotten his partner in crime. He moved through the crowd to join them and Kat greeting them both with a large grin. "You honestly didn't even have to ask. It wouldn't be a real adventure without you at my side getting in some kind of trouble."
Howler left both Spirit and Dante to their own devices and made his way down Route 29 towards Cherrygrove. He didn't know about Dante and the others, but he had no intention of becoming a rotten egg.
Bullshit. If the thread went dead then it was because asshats like you decided to vanish without a fucking word. So don't you dare try to act like you aren't at least partially to blame.
I was literally the last one to say something. You yourself hadn't said anything until 11 days later and came back with such a disgusting attitude.
@Kal-El@King Kindred So um... what were the words the both of you used? "Crafting a character we speak" and "I'm probably posting mine today"? So tell me, please, were those just lies or something? I'd just absolutely love to know.
"Probably". That's not a lie. The thread went dead after my comment and didn't want to waste my time if it had died.
Dante was awoken to the very distinct sound of a creature howling. The howl was loud enough to wake up the whole neighborhood if everyone hadn't been up already. Dante had slightly overslept, but fortunately for him he had planned for this. He showered and had everything packed the night before. All he had to do was get dressed.
He opened his eyes fully and turned his body to look at the very enthusiastic gray-furred Poochyena staring back at him. "With you around who needs an alarm? Alright, alright. I'm up." Dante slipped out of bed and into his prepared outfit. Once that was done he finished up his morning routine of brushing his teeth and fixing his bed hair. Today was the day and he was starting to find himself a bit overwhelmed despite his calm exterior. He went back into his room to grab his backpack and quickly placed it on his back. He felt like he was forgetting something, but ignored the thought and headed to the kitchen with Howler following closely behind him.
His mother was waiting for him with a banana and a bottle of water. She must've known he was going to be late. That woman truly did know her son. A floating ball of gas was hovering beside her and on its head was a cap. "I was looking for that, but I'm glad you already have it. And thank you, mom."
Dante walked over to her to get his breakfast. "It's not much, but I know you're in a rush. If you and your friends get a chance actually eat something. You're probably not gonna be the only one missing a balanced meal. And promise me you'll be careful. I can't..." She fell silent. She couldn't get the words out. It was as if her body was stopping her from tempting a terrible fate. Dante placed his hands around hers and looked in his mother's eyes.
"I'll be fine. We'll have each other's backs. Plus I have the unstoppable duo at my side. I'm going to be the Champion, mom. For you, for Tai, and for..." He trailed off and shook his head. "I promise I'll come back. But for now I have to go. Come on, you two. It's time to go." He took the banana and water from his mother's hands and started walking towards the door with Spirit and Howler following close behind him.
When Dante reached the door he stopped. The room suddenly felt smaller and his memory flashed to the first time he attempted to take a journey. His fear overcame him then and it was starting to rear its ugly head once again. It crept towards him slowly getting ready to devour him in its darkness. A small press against his back was enough to snap him back to reality. He turned his head to see Spirit hovering behind him. He had given him a nudge. The push he needed to escape his overbearing thoughts. He whispered a silent thank you and opened the door. They were off.
Man, that banana was good. The trio came upon the entrance or exit of their fair little town and noticed a familiar silhouette perched on the customary danger sign when nearing an area with tall grass. He recognized the silhouette immediately and laughed lightly to himself. Of course she'd be the first one here. "I should've known you'd be here first, Cho. This'll be the last time I come in second to you."
"The dreams that I carry are no longer just my own."
Name: Dante DiAngelo
Nicknames: N/A
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Appearance: Dante stands at exactly 6'0 and curses the Pokemon gods for stopping it there. If anyone looked at him they'd assume that he was just skin and bones, but he has a toned body from the years that he's played sports. He has crystal blue eyes and sky blue hair to match. The men in his family have a genetic mutation where the roots of their blue hair turn black once they hit puberty. His favorite thing to wear is a v-cut turtleneck and he would rarely be seen without one. Another item that never leaves his side is his younger brother's black hat with a white back and red under rim. On his back you'll find the standard trainer backpack where he keeps all his essentials in this apparent blackhole of a bag.
Personality: Growing up Dante was always seen as a jokester. Someone that could always make the people around him smile. He never had a problem making friends and could never tell if he was drawn to them or if it had been the other way around. If you asked him he'd tell you that he was never the ambitious type, but that wasn't true. After the death of his brother there was an obvious change in him. He kept up the facade of the Dante they all knew, but there was a darkness growing him.
Short Biography: Dante was born and raised in New Bark Town and for a time he thought it would be all he'd ever know. Like any kid in this world Dante had a love of Pokemon and secretly wished to be the greatest trainer in the world or at least the region. He wanted to be realistic at least. His father was a Pokemon trainer and taught Dante everything he knows. His dream was within reach and all he had to do was take it. But for some reason he couldn't. When the day came for him to see the Professor and receive his first Pokemon his fear overtook him. He had been preparing and training for this moment, but he couldn't get the thought of failing on his journey out of his head. He never left his room that day.
His father never said it, but Dante knew he was disappointed in him. He never yelled at him or tried to force him to see the Professor, but that made him worse. He felt like his father had given up on him. His brother, Tai, was born two years later and Dante had finally put the dreams of his past behind him. He looked forward to the future with his growing family even if he didn't know what his role in life would be. Three years later their father walked out on them and never returned. His mother would never tell him why or what happened and after a while he stopped bugging her about it.
A month or two after his dad left, his mother got him and his brother a silver-furred Poochyena pup. It was so small, but it had heart. It howled as soon as it saw them and his brother affectionately named him Howler. Of course he could barely pronounce it at the time so it came out as Hower. But it was during that moment that Dante saw the same spark he used to have in his brother's eyes. He realized it was his brother, not him that was meant to be a great trainer. From that moment on he decided to teach his brother the same things his brother taught him. As the years passed his brother surpassed his expectations. It was as if he fully understood the true nature of Pokemon training despite being so young. When Tai turned 8 years old he caught the attention of the Professor and was chosen to join the ten year olds in selecting their Pokemon.
Little did he know that would be the last time he'd see his little brother alive. A month into his journey he was engaged by a gang and was killed while protecting his friends. Dante's world was shattered and his mother's heart was broken. His mother sent word to their father so that he could at least return for the funeral, but they never got a response. Dante hated him even more for it. The night after the funeral he returned to the cemetery to talk to his brother, but as he did so a Gastly appeared from the ground beside him and just hovered there watching him. He wasn't foolish enough to believe the Gastly was his brother returned to him, but a part of him hoped he was.
When Dante started walking home he noticed the Gastly was following him and even tried to hide every time he turned to look at it. He realized he probably wasn't going to get rid of it and named it Spirit. When he returned home he was met by Howler with Tai's hat in his mouth. He took it out and stared at it for a moment before looking at the two Pokemon in front of him. "You two in the mood for a journey?"
Pokemon:
Name: Howler Species: Poochyena Gender: Male Ability: Quick Feet Personality: Howler has always been rather energetic and hyper. He's protective over Dante and those close to him. He's brave and doesn't know what it means to stand down from a fight. Howler also never enters PokeBalls since he was raised mostly as a pet.
Name: Spirit Species: Gastly Gender: Male Ability: Levitate Personality:Spirit has a fun and mischievous nature, but a flip seems to switch when it enters battle. It seems to feed on the darkness within Dante while also protecting him from himself. During the day it likes to stay in a ball since it hates the sun, but at night it likes to spread its gaseous legs. When it's out it's almost attached to Dante's hip.
Reason for Traveling with Main Group: Dante wants to overcome his initial fear and pursue his younger brother's dream of being the Pokemon Champion. He also wants to find the truth behind these gangs and put an end to them. And if he finds his father along the way he's punching him in the face.
Relationships:
Cassandra DiAngelo: Dante's mother who deserves the world. He hopes to be able to give it to her after this journey.
Nicola DiAngelo: A bastard and Dante's number #2 enemy behind whoever murdered his brother. Dante grew up idolizing him but those feelings disappeared once he abandoned his family.
Tai DiAngelo: Dante's younger brother whose life and future was stolen from him. An angel on Earth.
Kat? I'd say she's the closest thing I have to a best friend. Not that I'd tell her that, but for as long as I can remember she's always been there for me. We both hate our dads and I guess that made our friendship stronger. She's someone I can count on and will always pick to have on my team.
Cho Toyama:
Cho is the perfect rival. She's someone that you know could push you. Not a rival you constantly surpass from day one. Kat introduced us and I guess we've been friends ever since, but I can't let our friendship get in the way of our goal. Also Pip is adorable.
Flynn Arata:
Flynn is my partner in crime. The Non-Bonnie to my Clyde. They were younger than me, but they were always able to keep up. Unless I was with Kat or Tai there wasn't a time you wouldn't see us together. That was until they left. They recently returned, but we haven't had the chance to reconnect.
Naoko Jin:
Nao is funny. I think I laugh just as much as she does when she's around. She was a big help when my dad left us. Tai loved her. She was like a big sister to him. She used to babysit him and he was always fascinated with Fritz. He loved to watch her tinker away. The little wheels in his mind turning just like the ones in her machines. Spirit seems to like her. Probably because she's really cute. Uh, I mean, what was the question?
Ezekiel Miyamoto:
Kiel's another resident jokester of our here town. He lived here when we were younger. We were always joking around with Nao and Flynn. One day he went on a trip and that trip turned into a very extended stay. He had a little brother that was around Tai's age, but he wasn't with him when he came back a few months ago. I've seen him around town and I have a feeling we unfortunately have more in common than we originally had.
Bartholomew Mulkaper:
My dad... my dad was a regular at the Apotheberry. As a trainer you could never get enough berries. They have their uses. After we left Tai and I kept up business so I always talked to Barry whenever I came in, but we weren't really close.
Kenneth Hardroot:
I can't say that I really know Kenny. I know that he's friends with Nao and she sometimes goes to his family's farm. But for some reason I get the feeling that he avoids me.

Other: Color Code is #15f2fd He uses his brother's PokeDex and when it's not being used he keeps it in his backpack along with 20 PokeBalls, a few potions, and one elixir.
