"And yet we are here." Ed says, a bit annoyed. They had been brought here against their will. He could sort of understand the general dislike of the X-Men. It was one of the factors he had considered before joining. However, he didn't understand why everyone had a hate on about their response to Genosha. They literally were in space when that happened. And it wasn't like Magneto and the others had sent them an invite.

Ed has a lot he wants to say. But he pushes it away. Considering the options of just bubbling everyone and sending them away. Ed isn't usually a punch people type of person, maybe it is the eye roll that brings it out the desire.

Andy enjoyed the warmth of her Aunt's hug. She savored it. "Yeah, surprisingly well." She answered. Then listened to the conversation about where they were going next. "And that will take us to where this sword is?" Even though it had only been a day technically since they had left camp it felt like it had been ages.

Andy pet Chocolate. She ate some of the breakfast and considered the entrance Damon was indicating. It would be safer since it had no guards. Andy wanted to ask Mary if that matched up with their map, and what it was telling them to do. She wanted to believe and trust Damon, but he had started their relationship by holding a knife to her throat so she didn't completely. But Andy wasn't about to let him know she didn't trust him by having Mary confirm it right in front of him.

"Yeah, I think we must -" Niah started when they got free from the cage and started attacking them. She cursed as her leg was burned by the acid. "Tae!"

Niah drew her sword and swiped at the snake that had just spit acid on her. It pulled back and she missed, but her backswing hit the snake killing it. She swung the sword at the other snake that was not currently wrapped around her group. She hit the other one, and it was still alive so again on the backswing she was able to kill it.

"Stella," Niah said, turning to the girl to try to help her out.

"Thank you, Mads. I'd love to." Andy smiled. Maybe she had been a little mean mentally with Mads the day of the Carnival. She had wanted to chat freely, but Mads was friendly enough. There was no reason they couldn't hang out. She would also love to get a cup of coffee, even if it was subpar. She would have to keep in mind to ask Danni and Dorian about their coffee. Maybe it could be a peace offering of friendship if she got some good coffee to share with them.

April seemed to be somewhat uncomfortable with Andy. Andy had missed the shifting facial expressions since she had been looking at Mads, but the question of if she was Magneto's kid clarified for Andy why April seemed uncomfortable. A lot of people didn't trust Magneto. She understood that. Heck before Genosha she had been in a fight with him too. He wasn't 'safe'. However, her time on Genosha had taught Andy a lot.

She gave a small nod. "Yes, well, sort of. He adopted me on Genosha. I don't know my biological father. I think my mom killed him." She knew that didn't explain everything. Not in the slightest. But Andy really wasn't comfortable explaining it all. She had been seventeen...seventeen years ago. So while that answered the question...it also avoided it.

"I didn't think anyone would recognize his name like that. When I told him I was going to go to school here he said I should take his name and mom got upset that I didn't have hers so I combined them." She had wanted to use Drummond's name, not Phillips since that was her foster care name and she hated it. Drummond's had been two years of happiness. The first time she had felt herself. However, they had never legally adopted her. Legally her name would have been Phillips, but that was tied to someone who disappeared and probably was presumed dead seventeen years ago.

It was a mess. Honestly, though, how could she tell either Magneto or Selene no? The paperwork for the school had been done with the combined names so as far as the law was concerned she was their kid, with only her middle name reflecting the family of her heart.

At that point, before the conversation could get any further the teacher appeared. Andy perked up a bit at them getting to learn the sword. She really did want to learn, there just hadn't been time. This was perfect.

There was something that looked like a very messed up Chimera between them and the swords. She considered her abilities and what she knew of her group. April had said she could control water, and she knew that Mads had magic. Andy didn't know the extent of those powers, but it might be useful. She had no idea what their fourth member could do (or fifth, but she wasn't here so that didn't matter). Andy wished they had had more time to chat about their powers before being thrown into action. She also didn't want to just run across the room and hope for the best. They should plan.

Andy chewed on her lip and tapped her foot thinking before saying "April, help me distract the thing while Mads and uh...Mary Sue," Andy guessed considering Lady Nimue had said Terrane wasn't there. "The two of you go get the swords. Run as fast as you can, but wait until April and I have its attention." Andy felt that with her quickness on her feet, she'd be good at getting the thing distracted. She wasn't easy to hit. And with April and her water control ability, she'd probably be able to harry it enough. "April, can you throw water balls at it?"

Andy just didn't know what the other two could do. Hopefully, they could run. She moved toward the creature. Andy ran up to it trying to hit it with some lightning. She wasn't going for any punches or anything like that, but just trying to get the creature's attention. The first bit of lighting was pitiful. The creature didn't even glance at Andy. So she went bigger.

This time the creature noticed. And even though Andy was used to dodging she was not totally prepared and the creature charged at her. She didn't actually remember hitting the wall. Her mouth tasted of blood, that was the first thing she thought. The second was she was glad she had left her mom in the room so she didn't have her watching and judging her at the moment. Hopefully, it was enough of a distraction.

Andy opened her eyes and blearily saw the others and that Lady Nimue hadn't moved an inch. Interesting.

"I'll ride with you." Rose offered to Cassi. She nodded. The horses were the best plan. The cart really would be too much and too easy to track. The horses they could take a bit circuitous and make sure they covered their tracks. Even splitting up if needed.

Rose got her bow ready. And nodded. Waiting for Flynn before heading in to grab a horse. Hopefully, the guards had left the saddles on so they didn't have to try to ride bareback. There would be no time to re-saddle the horses.

"I'm sure lightning would scare it." Colby offered as he backed away. He was mostly joking. That wasn't a great plan if he was honest. Sure he was impulsive and often did dumb things without thinking. But the danger of a forest fire was not lost on him if he tried to hit the bear with lighting. Or at least near it.

Too bad he didn't have one of those horn blasts or bear mace. He wasn't a hiker really. He knew there were some good woods near them, but he had never gone into them.

Ed Penior

Location: Amara's home (study) -> Limbo

The girls hadn't been easy to put to bed. It had taken coaxing—a promise of the return of their candy in the morning. At least two teeth brushing, and three bedtime stories. Ed had enjoyed every moment of it. He had savored it. His own daughter had fallen asleep first. She was not even a toddler yet. The older girl, Mads, a daughter in his heart even if not by blood, had finally fallen asleep during the last part of Velveteen Rabit.

Ed had then joined Amara in the study. She had worked through the hours of thining. Her magic was the sort that took to that. He watched her for a moment from his chair. He thought of the future. His great-grandfather was dying—the last of the old guard. Everyone else had perished. The family had fallen. But there were cousins. Ed could rebuild it. When the man who lay in Cardiff passed and the family mantle passed to him. Ed knew exactly what he would do. The female cousins would be called up. It was too late for many of them to do the rite, but some of them had children. Lucy had been proof that the female children could do the rite. While Nora was too young Ed knew when her tenth birthday came he would perform the rite for her. If she survived she would emerge with the magic power of the family.

If Amara would come with him... if she was willing to move to Cardiff. It was a conversation they needed to have. As he considered how to ask her a brilliant bright light fills the room and the weight of the cloak and Eye settled on him. Ed knows the symbols of the Sorcerer Supreme's station. Why him? He doesn't have time to consider that thought anymore before the world squeezes around him.

"Amara-" He does not finish his thought. Ed's experience with inter-dimensional travel was thankfully limited, but he knew this was not his world. It felt thick. Warning bells in his mind went off. This was not a place he should be.

The planet's surface was approaching, and quickly. Ed pressed his hand to his chest, pushing the shield medallion into his skin. Orange light burst around him and his fall was cushioned. The bubble of light bounced once, twice, and then stopped. He released it, landing on his feet.

Ed looked around trying to gather his bearings. Trying to identify where he was. He also guarded his mind, ready for intrusion. He did not want someone else, another version of himself or otherwise, making their way into his mind.

Andy woke to the knock on the door. She got up and found the note. At first, she didn't realize that the room seemed empty. But there was only one envelope. She looked at her roommate's bed and frowned. Stuff was gone. Maybe she had failed the audition so badly because she was so high she had been kicked out of the school. Was that possible?

On the plus side that meant Zari could probably hang out in her room. She didn't remember who Zari's roommate was, but hey they could get alone time. She felt a bit overwhelmed with how many people there were. And the blatant use of powers still. What would have been a prison sentence at best was so common practice none of the kids here had any idea what it had been like.

To top that off Selene was uncharacteristically quiet. Maybe the meeting with Agatha had gotten to her more than she was letting on. It was unnerving.

For a moment Andy spiraled. Things felt so wildly out of her control. She still hadn't looked at the card inside the envelope. What if she didn't? What if she left? The thought of leaving, of not trying was tempting. But Andy imagined Zari being sad. She also imagined her laughing. She didn't want to make Zari sad. She also didn't want to leave her because Zari was one of the things that made her happy. That grounded her.

Shaking her head Andy read the team assignment. She didn't know how to feel. Was this a good thing? She didn't have Zari on her team, which she was sad about. And the only person on the team she did know was Madalyne. At least Andy liked Madalyne.

Andy got dressed. She opted for shorts. Having never been a fan of skirts. She also left her jacket. The school dress code wouldn't allow it. In a way having a uniform was a relief. It meant she wouldn't have to deal with any more comments about her clothing. However, it meant she couldn't wear what she was actually comfortable in.

She left her mom sitting on her dresser. Andy had taken her out of the bag, but decided meeting someone named "Nimue" made her nervous about magic shit. And that meant not wanting to have her mom there. Andy knew enough Arthurian legends to know that would be a sticky situation. Though if Usagi was anything to go by she'd probably be surprised and Nimue would be a fighter instead of a wizard.

Andy wished she had a nice cup of hot coffee when she finally arrived in the training room. There was Madalyne and ...Princess? That couldn't be her real name. Andy tried to guess who of her team Princess really was, it would be hilarious if it was Mary Sue. What caught her attention and took her from that thought process was she was holding a cup of coffee. Sweet blessed caffeine.

"Hello Madalyne." Andy nodded at Madalyne before turning to 'Princess', "Hey. Uh, where did you get the coffee? I haven't had any in like two days except this stash of coffee drinks my mom got for me and I'd love some real coffee." She asked 'Princess'. The idea of coffee was distracting. She didn't care if it meant leaving the training room and coming back late. "Also, sorry I don't know your name." She said a bit apologetically and inquisitively. Now that she was thinking about it, the girl had corrected one of the French guys with her name. She couldn't remember what it was though. "I'm Andy." She added, just in case the girl had forgotten. Their first time meeting had not been great. It wasn't her fault. But it had been a bit of a mess. Andy wanted to put it behind her. She wanted to make friends, but she was going to follow Agatha's advice and not change herself to try to fit in.

"Sorry." Rose said softly to Cassi. She nodded about the cart. Even a horse from it would be helpful. "How do we want to do this?" Of the group, most were non-combatants. Rose could respect that. But she also thought it was suicidal in their current situation.

She looked at Robin Hood. She wanted to say something bitting but held it back. "We might be able to do it without killing any of them if we are quick and quiet." She didn't really think that was a good idea. If they knocked the guards out they would wake up and go get reinforcements. That raised the chance of them being found.

Colby was glad they had missed whatever adventure that had been. Going to Agrabah had been enough for him. He honestly wasn't in this for the adventure. He wanted to find a place he belonged. The adventure was interesting and all. But it was becoming real, and that was scary.

What is also scary are bears.

Colby wouldn't have listed bears as something he was afraid of. But he wasn't an idiot. You did not mess with bears.

"So uh. There are some of Rapunzel's plants over there. But I'm going to be real. I do not want to approach a bear. So let's just get away from here."

Andy had slept surprisingly well. She woke to the smell of food cooking and the fire crackling. She lay there a moment longer gathering her bearings. This was not some homeless camp. This was the Labyrinth. And she had slept as if she had known what a monster was. She remembered getting the knife from the old man. Remembered his knowing smile as he told her she'd find it useful. She had thought the knife was strange at the time. It was magical. She could pull it from a bracelet and it would be full in her hand. The metal had been strange, like nothing she had seen before.

And the monster had almost killed her. She had run but it had knocked her down. She hadn't been fast enough. In the struggle, she had been lucky to get the knife free. Lucky in the stab. She had expected blood but none had come. A cloud of fine dust fell instead. She hadn't known then what that meant. She had tried to find the old man again, but even though she asked around no one knew who she was asking about. She never saw the guy again. But he had known. He had saved her. With that single gift, her whole life had changed.

She thought of Arthur and his hatred of killing monsters. She wondered if he had had to kill anything since camp. She wondered where he was and what he was doing. Chocolate had come to her. He now lay curled up beside her. His breathing was soft and steady. Andy missed Arthur. She missed camp. She missed her brother. It was a deep sudden ache as she lay there. She curled up tighter around Chocolate. Then stood suddenly and joined her Aunt at the fire.

Aunt Mads was related to her in a different way. There wasn't much tracking of human lines at Camp. But Mads had proof of it. They were related. It had been unexpected but welcome. It meant she wasn't alone. Even though she knew Mads would soon be taken from her. That thought hurt a lot too. But she knew Arthur and Mads friends would help get her back. That made it okay.

"Morning." She said, leaning a little into her Aunt for comfort. Chocolate sitting on her other side.

Niah had had midwatch. The worst of all. But waking up to a full bladder and the knowledge they needed to get going to catch the train pushed her to go to the bathroom. The fuzzy memory of the snakes the night prior clarified as she watched two of them disappear into the vents. Ugh.

Why couldn't the guy have had a better cage for the snakes? She didn't particularly want to just kill them, two had escaped and she doubted there was any getting them back. She grabbed a towel and shoved it into the hole of the cage. That'd hopefully buy them some time to deal with those.

The hole in the floor was another matter. The damage that had been done to this hotel room was obscene. "We should leave some cash or something as a way of apology. I could probably cover this up again, but I don't know how much good it'll do. We need to decide what to do with the snake things now." She looked at the other two. "We can release them to cause havoc for someone else. Or kill them and send them to Tartus until they reform. There was no other option. They were not bringing the creatures with them.

"Space prison was a weird one." Ed didn't mention how this reminded him of that. He was thankful that at least the group had wound up together this time. He didn't want to dwell on the bad parts of their trip. The prison at least had been easy enough to break out of. Something he never thought he'd have to do.

Ed smiled a bit at the memories. He was about to turn and start telling Flynn about the alternate world they had gone to. The sounds of footsteps stopped him. He looked in the direction they were coming from. It was possible they'd have to fight whoever it was. It was also possible they'd be a friendly...or at least neutral to them. He wouldn't bank on that here in a place full of Genoshian refugees, who hated the X-men.

He reached into his pocket and touched the shield charm. He really needed to find a better way to deal with that. Maybe a necklace. But he'd have to keep it tucked into his shirt so it would touch his skin.
