Location: X-Jet - Heading into Space
Skills: Power Mimicry
With Max's first response, painted by a chuckle, Jaclyn had that positive feeling about him, again; she liked him -companionably speaking- and in the back of her mind wondered what history it was he had with the others that seemed to colour their impression of him differently.
She missed his sigh over the engine of the jet, and took any pause of answer to be thought on how to give it, or how much he wanted to say. As it turned out, he didn't hold back. The hesitation between his summary of "the first time" and "the second time" gave Jaclyn the impression that maybe he
needed to share some of this. Jaclyn's non-verbal response was a flow of interested surprise, awe, and unease, respectively from the reasons Max did this particular magic before, and the breadth of the second time.
Jaclyn had said before she felt she needed something "extra", heading into space, but this felt
major; the type of thing that was intimidating to face until it was digested.
"Thank you, Max," she meant it, actually bringing her hand down from the backrest of his seat to his shoulder, hoping he wouldn't take this as a brush-off,
"that sounds like something maybe for another time. I think I have what I can work with for now." She retracted her hand.
As the jet gave a jolt, other things started to process through Jaclyn's mind. Focused as she'd been on talking to Max on their way here, she hadn't fully taken in where they were and what they were now on their way to: in the hanger, in the X-jet, and now, heading into space!
She had that funny feeling in her stomach you get during take-off, but felt more from butterflies. Lance's statement of "we're doing better already" provided a last fleeting bit of amusement before the full extent of what they were facing began settling in: potentially facing
Nekra again, and facing
Magneto himself! He had two groups of followers, apparently...her mind shifted to other, present matters. What was between Miranda and Bonnie? It could've been nice to have Guin's redesigned suits. Jaclyn sighed in a settling way; at least they had the link between the others thanks to Guin and Mary, and with word the security system was in the process of being disabled made it feel like, rather than one part of a team performing a rescue mission for the other, they were one working a problem from both sides.
She looked out the window then, and her mix of thoughts and feelings were temporarily overwritten by the spectacle of the changing atmosphere. . .
What Holo would think of this... She had to smile, though that smile soon lessened. She had a lot of reasons to be doing this, being an X-man -which didn't feel quite like what she was, yet- but one of them was her sister. She hoped the course they were on was the correct one for Mutant-kind. The intent behind the display on the Mansion grounds -the reason they were up here, now- didn't feel correct; Jaclyn's confidence settled back in a small way with that thought.
