History

Life Before The Outbreak
Mandy was born to two Deaf parents. She's what's considered Deaf Royalty. Everyone in the Deaf community knew her parents. Both were highly educated, Gallaudet graduates and now both teachers. They met while attending Gallaudet. They connected about being Italian. Mandy's father cried the first time he met her mom's parents, overjoyed at getting to have in-depth conversations at the dinner table.
Mandy's mother's parents were Deaf, both from Italy. Her grandfather immigrated at the age of nine and followed in his father's footsteps of being a tailor. When he turned twenty he asked his mom for help in finding a wife and she wrote back home to a friend who had a deaf daughter. He met her, taught her ASL, and came back with her two months later. Because of this Mandy's mother was raised steeped in both Italian and Deaf culture.
Mandy's father's parents were both hearing, so she has extended family on that side that are all hearing. She didn't spend much time with them and especially hated holidays with them. Most of them don't know ASL. Her Nonna and Aunt have some home signs that they used with her dad. She does have a cousin, Hermes, who knows some ASL.
She attended New York School for the Deaf where she graduated Valedictorian in 2017. She immediately started at RIT in their Pre-Vet program. She was then accepted into Cornell University's Vet program. She is currently attending Cornell.
Mandy never had issues making friends in the Deaf community. When she finally attended a school without a high Deaf population (Cornell) things became different. She found herself having to fight for her rights, such as access to interpreters. It wasn't the first time she had had a hearing teacher, but it was the first time she didn't have easy access to one. It almost caused her to quit, but she decided that she wanted to be a vet more than she cared about the obstacle of hearing people being stupid.

Andy took a deep breath. She could hold it together now. She had had her chance to cry. They had a job to do. She was a little worried about Arthur, but at least she knew where he was.

"Okay" She said simply, nodded, and started walking up the trail. She whistled and Chocolate came running over to her side. She patted his head. "Good boy." Now she knew why he had come to her instead of staying with Arthur, though since he was the type of 'dog' that he was he should be able to visit Arthur still. That was good.

Niah nodded. She hated leaving things with Nancy the way they had been left. She wanted to be there for her friend. She wanted her friend to be there for her. However, she couldn't dwell on that.

As much as that had happened today, seeing her sister in some odd vision and being told Dalisy was probably in Vallhalla, Mads falling into Tartarus, there was still more to do. At least with Persephone here they had a chance against the Giant that was in their way.

"Yeah, I'm ready." Niah said and started walking too. She knew the way. This was where Mads had gotten turned into a werewolf. This was the place that had started it all.

Andy smiled listening to Zari. She knew exactly who Zari was complaining about. "Thank goodness we don't have anyone like that on our team. We're all nice to each other." She was glad her team was who it was. Even if April was high key way more invested in it than Andy would ever be.

"Oh! We will definitely do a horror movie night. I'll have to invite Dorian he's super into them too." She smiled. She watched that there were more people coming out of the haunted house looking fully traumatized at this point. They had finally reached the front of the line. She didn't mind being scared, but this seemed to be causing actual trauma. She wondered what the heck could be in a haunted house to do that.

"We'll talk about a horror movie night after the haunted house. If you can manage it, then we'll do a movie." She didn't think any movie, especially since she liked movies that were objectively bad, would be worse than whatever was causing full breakdowns to be happening to everyone that was coming out.

Ed felt an urge to suffocate someone with a bubble but decided to go on the offensive against Cortez. Ed adjusted so that he could see Cortez. Then he flicked his wrist several times in quick succession. Most of his little blasts of orange light missed Cortez, except the last one. That one hit Cortez directly.

It might have been Ed's wishful thinking that Cortez looked dazed. Sadly the man didn't go down. Ed wasn't normally an offensive fighter. He tended to be protective or healing. This was the one spell he was willing to use offensively. It did minor damage. The reason for all of that was because of his family's laws. He did not break those laws. He had seen what would happen if he did, the last time he had been in space.

The idea that Mary Sue was into biographies made her nervous. It was much like how Dorian and Danny were uncomfortably close to her past. She wondered how much Mary Sue knew about her without even knowing it. She smiled though and replied, "I like watching bad movies, especially horror films. I also boxing." She was repeating herself, but she figured that Mary Sue was one of those people who mentally answered the question before they did out loud and had just not heard her. She didn't mind that. It made conversation.

They were then interrupted by announcements. She clapped automatically joining everyone else. Andy had hoped her team had lost, but she supposed sucking someone of their power in the last moments of the fight had been what had gotten them through. They had been very close to losing. She just didn't want to put the time that was required into continuing. Then the 'Savior' of the school was announced, something that back in her original run at going to school would have been a more sexist term of King and Queen. She liked the change. She cheered again this time less automatically. She was excited that April had won. That would definitely be something that April would be happy about. Leah had also won and Andy liked Leah so she was happy for her too. She didn't know Sabine well, except as someone who had been involved in bullying her the first day. She didn't care for her winning but eh can't have everything go in your favor.

"Thank you." Andy told Persephone. She also watched Chocolate and Arbor play. It gave her something pleasant to think about. When Niah rejoined them she stepped closer to her—non-verbally telling her that she was there for her.

"We finished our mission. Can we help you with yours? There are six of us, not counting Persephone. That is good right?" Andy was nervous about having an off-number. She didn't want another to be lost. Even though Mads' fall had been in the prophecy it didn't make it easier. And they couldn't afford another loss.

Niah flinched at the shockwave. She frowned, upset that the connection had been lost. Maybe it would have been better to wait to tell Nancy. She shook her head to herself, no, telling her had been the right thing to do. She'd have been pissed if someone had kept it from her.

Returning to the others. "Nancy seemed to be in the Lotus Hotel. She did not take the news well." Niah shifted, "We need to continue." She did not know Nancy's vow as she hadn't said it to her, or within her hearing. But she felt a similar desire in her bones.

Well, that ended all of that. Maleficent was gone. Sealed away. Rose sighed and looked at Cassiopeia. She pulled Cassiopeia into a hug. She was thankful to be out of that fight. She'd very much like to live a quiet life after this.

"I want to see my childhood home. But I don't think I want to stay here forever." She looked at Merlin. "Would we be able to traverse between the two worlds?" Rose didn't want to give up her mom, and this world, but she didn't want to live here full-time.
