Bio

Not born in a log cabin, I came into the RPing venture around 2009 and quickly joined about twenty roleplays more than I should have at the time. I've been around the internet in that time span, participated in and run RPs on multiple forums, and brushed shoulders with a wide variety of players and characters. Getting to work with new people has always been part of the allure of the experience.

My interests in RPing are pretty diverse, and not genre-specific; if there's room at the table and I can think of a dish to serve, I'll cook something up for just about any meal. If you know what I mean.

@Wayward Yes.

Gotcha. I'll rethink my concept then; was hoping to get some time today, but I ended up spending almost five hours at an urgent care clinic just for a physical exam. Big oof.
@Wayward You're missing the point a little bit yeah. Dives aren't just a means to an end, they're what the roleplay is gonna be based around. If Liam is incapable to "fully" Diving then that leaves him in the dust. Plus, I don't think the ESP would let him do anything if he's a walking brain scrambler.

In that sense, I'm taking it that I shouldn't feel 'bad' or bland if my character's Dive is more alike to what the other characters have?
@Wayward I appreciate the effort put into the writing of this, it's really something. That said, the flowery nature of the sheet is, uh, leaving me with a few gaps in description for the character.

For one thing, the Powers section. No problems with the actual powers he's got, but instead I wanted clarification on what you wrote in the Dive section. Are you saying that Liam's version of the dive can be of a potent enough nature to fully 'damage' a person's psyche without the prerequisite of the Dive occurring? Is this just a default thing that can happen, like he's a speeding bullet, or is it a thing he needs to consciously do?

Then there's the History section, which is missing a couple of key points - namely, what Liam's use of Diving was and the consequences of it. The way you wrote it makes it come across as if Liam only reflected on himself after he Broke and hadn't actually used the power. There'd be no reason for the ESP to capture him if he hasn't done anything, you know?

Ah. OK. All makes sense.

In terms of his Dive's function... if it can ben worked in the way I'm thinking, I would consider it in terms of his entering of peoples' minds results in less of a full immersion and more of a "pop the door open, throw something inside that goes boom and get out." Only Diving in a short ways, if you will, and focusing his psychic power to briefly disrupt another's mental state; I reckon it would be akin to causing a power surge in a person's mind, a telepathic equivalent of an emp. Or am I completely missing the point of Diving?
I hope I made this on enough understanding of what's going on here. If I'm off the mark, feel free to slap me silly.

Thinking of putting together an RP based on the Streets of Rage series. For anyone familiar with the series and caught up with the all of the games, it would take place in a time period following Streets of Rage 4, in a Wood Oak City still dealing with the fallout from the defeat of the Y twins and the resulting collapse of the Syndicate.

It'll more than likely be a casual RP, with a moderately sized group being sought.
@Wayward I think that's a great character sheet! If you get approved let me know. I'd love to be your arch rival.

I've never had a rival before. I'm down for that.
Psst... The thread specified that it's a "Jump-in". You just go post. No approval necessary.

At the moment, I'm not particularly inclined to get going in character without getting a starting post from the OP. I'd rather not assume toomuch about the world I'm jumping into.
Not sure if you were looking for anything in particular for a character sheet, but I was keeping this one up the sleeve thinking to start something similar to this.

Super Brief Biography: Vivi's superpowers awakened from dormancy when she was twelve years old. She was walking home from school one afternoon and was chased down by bullies. When she started high school, she joined the cross country and track teams, in which she excelled, in part due to her powers. In her junior year, she decided to take her abilities to the mean streets of the city as a superhero, known as "Dashing Gold" (an homage to her athletic success). Entering collage, Vivi continued both her athletic pursuits and her crime fighting, but rebranded herself as "Blur" because she felt that "Dashing Gold" was too many syllables and sounded too much like a My Little Pony to be taken seriously.
With less than a sweat broken in the process, Cadenza pulled the last drone's cannon from its mount, and retreated several feet as it jerked as though attempting to buck her off. She, as she surmised her comrades did too, sighed, savoring their moment of triumph before they would continue onward. She watched curiously as the drone's unarmed swivel spun around to no avail; if not for her disdain for the machine, she might have almost found it comical in its helplessness. She let out a grunt, and shrugged her shoulders dismissively, and peered towards the path ahead of them. "I'm guessing these probably aren't the only relics of the Empire still stalking around here," she said, moreso to herself, but loud enough to be heard by her companions.

She looked down at the old cannon, its mount frayed from where she had ripped it from its owner. "Useless," she remarked, her tone hinting at the thought of holding onto the firearm for later use. The Empire, forward thinking as they were, had designed the turrets with triggering mechanisms located within the drones; without it, the weapon couldn't be used if detached. In theory, a part could be rigged to bypass that, but it would take more time and effort than she cared to invest while on a job. Half-frustrated, she lobbed the gun into the nearby brush, and continued moving.

As the group advanced, she would assume position at the front of their formation; she was, after all, useless from a distance.
"YEAH!" Bullets from the still-upright mecha flew, but helplessly stopped upon colliding with the barrier that had been placed between it and Cadenza. In almost the same instance, the rounds from the turret she had commandeered rained forth as the shield dispelled. The walker had little defense against the firepower of its own kind; the bullets from Cadenza's manhandled weapon ripped through its plating with almost no resistance. "GET SOME!" she bragged, though this was mostly drowned out by the sound of the machine gun fire.

Showing, albeit too late, a sign of restraint against targeting an ally, the automaton that the pugilist had muscled struggled to right itself and train its weapon back onto her. Its fate, however, was already being sealed. No sooner than it's volley concluded, Cadenza pulled up against the barrel of the gun. While the turreted artillery had a 360 rotation along a horizontal plane, the nature of the weapon rendered it unable to do the same along its vertical plane.

The tension of Cadenza's pull on the barrel was joined swiftly by a set of fist strikes against the mounting apparatus that attached the canon to its swiveling base. It was the proverbial breaking of a stick over one's knee; the mecha would, in theory, be left active, but effectively crippled and disarmed, left to rot away as time and nature played out against it... unless, of course, one of Cadenza's teammates saw fit to put it out of its misery.
