Bio

Hello everyone. I'm Dutch, a mother of a 8-year old boy and I love both rp-ing and writing. Since May 2020 I'm one of the contests mods.

I started with writing Dutch stories in 2002, I was already 19 at that time. I joined a writing competition and that got me started. Soon I started to write down all the stories my over-active imagination came up with. I had my first forum rp experience in 2003 on a Dutch fantasy forum. While I continued to write, I stopped rp-ing when the particular rp and forum slowly died. In 2011 my love for rp's rekindled when I joined a site with a forum and I started to RP solely in English since that is the language of the site. This is also when I wrote my first story in English.

I've got a few 1x1 rp's going on this site and a couple more on another site. I've always been a fan of writing competitions and I joined a lot several of the ones that were hosted on this website. Now I get to host them myself and really enjoy that too.

When you come here to check if I'm online, know that even when I show as online I might not be able to respond to RP's. I open this site so that when I have time I can spend some time here, but I don't always end up with the time to do so.

If I haven't replied in a while, feel free to poke me. I don't ghost on purpose, sometimes I just forgetful and if I read your reply and accidentally closed the tab I might forget I was supposed to reply T_T

@Maglar You don't write or post on their website, you just keep track of your wordcount. They provide the tools to help you reach the goal, but you have to use your own preferred software, or pen and paper if you wish, to write your story.

On the 1sth you can change your story from 'prepping' to 'in progress' and the option to add your wordcount should be accessible.
If you update daily you can claim badges, there is a badge for updating the wordcount for 30 days in a row.
@Maglar 1.667 words a day according to their tool. I did NaNoWriMo for the first time in 2018 and I won with 62k words. Last year I didn't have a project, but this year I'm ready for it!

The goal is to write every day, but if you have an off-day and then write 3000 words the next that's still good of course. It can be though, some people drop out because 50.000 words in a month is not an easy feat. But it is doable. Especially if you have support around you.

Also, the goal is not producing a perfect story, but to complete your first draft. So while you can edit while you write, the suggestion is to move the story forward every day and keep the editing for after NaNoWriMo. You won't upload the story on their website, just add the word-count of it in their tool. And if you manage to get the 50.000 you will be a NaNoWriMo winner!

For some people it helps to join regional groups, because in those people get together for virtual write-in, sprints, and just general support from others who live in the same area as you do.

And this thread is of course for everyone on this site to cheer for each other :)

We are up to two entries now :)
"Don't forget your pills," a nurse said as she passed his table.
Benjamin almost swatted them from the table, but he refrained from doing so and just focussed on the subpar meal. Eating in this facility wasn't a treat, but everything here felt like a prison, so that was no exception.

He noticed someone of the staff feeding the catatonic woman, but he seemed less patient than Marc was when he helped her eat. Benjamin recalled the gentle way Marc helped her, but this one just wanted to get his job done. It was awful people like that were even allowed to work here.

"I know a good place where they sell a bratwurst baquette with sauerkraut." He started walking towards the exit of the arcade hall, glad that it had gone so well. "They have other fried meats you can choose on the baguette too, but their german sausage baguette is really the best on their menu."
He could tell Sara was happy, she had a grin on her face and a light in her eyes he would never forget.
"well, I'll have a look at it," the psychiatrist assured Artemis. "If anything changes a nurse will inform you when they hand out the pills. I may try some other pills instead of increasing the dosage. If you do get any side-effects, you have to inform the staff and they will report back to me." She leaned back in her chair. "That was it. Unless you have any questions for me you are free to go." She had a gently smile for Artmis and nodded to her.
Mindy beamed when Gavin complimented her dress. This day was already perfect. "Shall we see where Michael is?" she asked Niccia, hooking her arm in hers. "I bet he won't know what to say!"

Andy listened to Varidol and nodded, then turned to Dausin. "You know, you are not the only one who knows for sure Darkrai won't be back for her, but I'm on his side," he gestured to Varidol, "and I'm keeping in mind he could show up any moment to either get her back or get revenge for taking her. And if he does I'll be ready for him and give him a piece of my mind for abducting my nephew. And if he doesn't come back for her, I will give him a piece of my mind about that when I do get to meet him."

"He will give Darkrai a piece of his mind while we're fighting," Merlin sighed.
"Well, you can't expect him to fight," Benny replied, "Humans are weak."

Michael hoped Dausin would be right, and the others who had claimed Darkrai wouldn't come for her. He really was the last Legendary Pokémin he wanted to see.

Benjamin had made it back to his room and closed his eyes. He really needed to stop thinking about Steph in her underwear. Although a part of him didn't really want to stop thinking about it. He shook his head and decided that reading some boring files would surely help. He was fairly sure their next meeting would be a bit awkward, but they just had to get passed that.

Rudrig nodded. "I'm not surprised. You look like the kind of things we fight now." He turned a bit so he could face her directly. "Did you want this? Did you know this would happen? Because in the report said you were abducted, and when the snipers found you you were already in that cocoon."

I will join NaNoWriMo this year as a plantser and an Old-School Wrimo.

My project will be a supernaturel/fantasy story about three people cursed by eternal life and I've been wanting to write this story since September, but when I realised it would be novel-length I decided to keep it for NaNoWriMo instead.

November is coming closer, which means NaNoWriMo will start soon.

For those who don't know yet: NaNoWriMo is the National Novel Writing Month, an international writing event in which the goal is to write 50.000 words during November. If you reach this goal, you will be a NaNoWriMo winner! There are rules in place: it has to be a new story and it has to be (fan)fiction. Unless you decide to be a rebel and do your own thing, that is allowed as well.

October is the month for the planners to finish their outline, for the plantser to somewhat know what they are going to do and maybe write a bit of an outline, and for the pantsers to look forward to start writing.

In this thread the NaNoWriMos of Roleplayers guild can get together and talk about their project, encourage each other and enjoy the event together.

Also, announcing your project in this thread will allow you to claim the Tell The World badge!
