Bio

Hello everyone. I'm Dutch, a mother of a 8-year old boy and I love both rp-ing and writing. Since May 2020 I'm one of the contests mods.

I started with writing Dutch stories in 2002, I was already 19 at that time. I joined a writing competition and that got me started. Soon I started to write down all the stories my over-active imagination came up with. I had my first forum rp experience in 2003 on a Dutch fantasy forum. While I continued to write, I stopped rp-ing when the particular rp and forum slowly died. In 2011 my love for rp's rekindled when I joined a site with a forum and I started to RP solely in English since that is the language of the site. This is also when I wrote my first story in English.

I've got a few 1x1 rp's going on this site and a couple more on another site. I've always been a fan of writing competitions and I joined a lot several of the ones that were hosted on this website. Now I get to host them myself and really enjoy that too.

When you come here to check if I'm online, know that even when I show as online I might not be able to respond to RP's. I open this site so that when I have time I can spend some time here, but I don't always end up with the time to do so.

If I haven't replied in a while, feel free to poke me. I don't ghost on purpose, sometimes I just forgetful and if I read your reply and accidentally closed the tab I might forget I was supposed to reply T_T

@Maglar We're still early in the month, you can catch up.
If you'll aim at 2000 words per day instead of 1667 you'll catch up in no-time. Do one sprint like Stormflyx and you're ahead of schedule.

You're already three words on your way to the end goal. If you think it will help you can always talk about your story; the only thing you have to do on your own is writing those words, but we can help when it comes to plotting and brainstorming.

Marc listened to Sara as she talked; he wasn't sure how to respond it - wasn't it normal to treat people like people? When she dropped her head down he put his hand on top of her head. "I want to thank you too," he said. "You've been the best company I had in a while. I had fun today and I would like to take you out again some day."

Benjamin listened to Ari as she talked, looking at her and nodding a bit. He blinked when he felt a wave of lightheadedness come over him, but he ignored it.
"I can touch her," he said.

A frown formed as he rubbed his head. He had felt like this earlier today, when he had taken his meds to get out of confinements so he could help dia. When he realised that he grabbed the cup of his pudding as if it would evidence of what had been in it. "They put my medication in the pudding..." he muttered.
They had taken away the cup before bringing the desert; it was the only explanation as to why he felt this way now. "Damn it..."
"Yes, we're almost ready." Lytse answered Mitch and then he walked over to Soul, where he gave the same answer to Soul's question.
He noticed the expression of Mitch and he wondered why the guardian looked like that, but he didn't think long about it because Michael joined them and he hurried over to his big friend.

It didn't take long before Andy was there too, with a backpack over his shoulder and Varina's keystone under his arm.
"Mitch, let's go find Frosiien!" he said as he walked through the Pokémon center, blew a kiss to nurse joy as he thanked her for her excellent care and walked outside.

Michael followed his uncle outside with Lytse right behind him. Once outside he quickly joined Niccia and handed her her bag. "We have to go to the forest, right?" he said.

Of course :) It will be easier for both of us I think.
Marc ate from his food too, sometimes looking at the happy Sara. He nodded when she commented on how good the food was. "True, yes. There are restaurants who don't serve food as good as this." He finished his burger and drank from the water as he looked around. There were a few people scattered around the area, some eating, some talking.
He glanced at the plush besides Sara and instantly smiled.
"I enjoyed today," he commented.

Benjamin listed to Ray as he finished his pudding and nodded. "Okay," he said. "That's nice. But how are you doing?"
Had she misunderstood the question or deliberately avoided it? He wasn't overly worried about Ray; the sickbay seemed to be a decent place, although he hadn't seen much of it.
He glanced around, but the staff hadn't noticed he was talking to the air again. Thankfully. They's shove the meds down his throat if they'd see he was having 'another episode of hallucinations'.
Wow, that is impressive!

I wrote 1971 words today, so I'm at a total of 3998.

How is it going for everyone? Still enjoying this on the second day?
I ended yesterday with 2027 words. Let's see how it will go today ^_^
First anonymous vote is in.
They voted for: The Light That Leaves No Darkness
Their feedback: I honestly truly appreciate the tone and pacing. The fact the main character isn't a completely unprepared or inexperienced individual is a nice touch, adding in the fact that it almost seemed like it wasn't the presence that was the only dangerous thing, but the one entrapping and ensuring it cannot cause any further sacrilege against those interred within. Add in the solid dialogue and it was my favorite. The other's were solid as well, but I do think the one I voted for is the one I appreciate the most.

More votes will certainly follow since the deadline is still 9 days away, but the voting thread won't be shown in the sidebar for the entire period. Today an art contest was launched as well and that one will be advertised in the sidebar in a few days.
Because I have only 1 spot to advertise contest on the sidebar, I will put a link to this contest there in a few days. I want to bring some attention to the voting and feedback round of the writing competition first.
Welcome to the Traditional & Digital Art Contest

Rain

It is autumn in the northern hemisphere but spring in the southern hemisphere. One thing the two seasons have in common is rain.
Maybe the weather can inspire you to create a new piece of art. A landscape with rain, an abstract representation of rain, or your OC dressed up for the weather outside. And if drawing isn't your thing, there are other ways to capture the theme of this month.

Core rules:
  • At all times follow the Fundamental Rules of the Guild and the Moderation Policy for Forum Contests.
  • The work of art you submit must be made by you and specifically for this contest.
  • The art should be original, so no fan-art. You can use OC's of others only if you have their permission.
  • No explicit/pornographic images.
  • No excessive gore.
  • Don’t forget to subscribe to this thread. You will receive updates on the contest and on the number of entries, and reminders about the deadline here. I will not PM them.

Contest rules:
  • Any means of art you can use to bring the theme to live is allowed; drawing, crafts, photographs, etc.
  • All entries must be submitted digitally, even the traditional ones. You can take a photograph of the piece of art and submit that.
  • Please PM @Calle the entries and give it as title TDAC#2 - (Your Title).
  • Your entry can be anonymous or carry your name. Let me know what you want in the PM. If you don't specify, your entry will be posted anonymously, but you may always claim your art during or after the voting round.
Even for anonymous entries, the name of the artist will be added to the entry in the Hall of Fame.
  • The deadline is November 30th, 9:00 CET, which is 7:00 game time (both times are in a.m.)
