Bio

Hello everyone. I'm Dutch, a mother of a 8-year old boy and I love both rp-ing and writing. Since May 2020 I'm one of the contests mods.

I started with writing Dutch stories in 2002, I was already 19 at that time. I joined a writing competition and that got me started. Soon I started to write down all the stories my over-active imagination came up with. I had my first forum rp experience in 2003 on a Dutch fantasy forum. While I continued to write, I stopped rp-ing when the particular rp and forum slowly died. In 2011 my love for rp's rekindled when I joined a site with a forum and I started to RP solely in English since that is the language of the site. This is also when I wrote my first story in English.

I've got a few 1x1 rp's going on this site and a couple more on another site. I've always been a fan of writing competitions and I joined a lot several of the ones that were hosted on this website. Now I get to host them myself and really enjoy that too.

When you come here to check if I'm online, know that even when I show as online I might not be able to respond to RP's. I open this site so that when I have time I can spend some time here, but I don't always end up with the time to do so.

If I haven't replied in a while, feel free to poke me. I don't ghost on purpose, sometimes I just forgetful and if I read your reply and accidentally closed the tab I might forget I was supposed to reply T_T

MF&P #11 - Wind

The Hanged Man

Coils winding around the hanging rope,
Each turn marking the minutes he had left,
Seven twists of fate he could only hope,
His execution is the price of theft.
So down he went in falling for his sin,
Another body swaying in the wind.

The voting deadline has passed, which means we have a tie between Wind #1 and Hanged Man.

I adored all entries, so it's indeed not easy to vote. I suppose I'm the lucky one as I only need to choose between the two, but it's still not an easy pick.

My vote goes to Hanged Man: while the shortest of all poems, it was also a strong entry that was able to paint a clear picture and I appreciate the fact the word wind was used in two different ways.
Questions? Thousands and they were all related to Steph, but Benjamin decided to keep that for another time. "I think we have all the information we need at the moment," he said and he got up from his seat. "Thank you for breakfast and it was very informative. We'll see what we can do from within the agency."
"I'll contact Stuart as soon as we are back at the agency," Mike promised. "The food was great, thank you."

They both extended their hands so they could shake as part of their goodbye and left the establishment. They would need a moment to discuss things between themselves as well.

The young man hasted away when he was released, holding up his keycard with trembling fingers before almost jumping through the elevator doors that would bring him to safety.

Lily just smiled when Steph asked what she thought Step was. I know what you are, but you can't seem to accept it, she thought to herself. Maybe she did need to get Benjamin in, according to her file those two were close and she'd love to see the development. Benjamin was a low-level asset. Sure, he could see invisible things, but he wasn't that important.
She kept her eyes mostly on Gaia's screen, but glanced occasionally at what Steph was doing.

"My, my," Chiyoko said as she seemed to glide forward. "What an eventful morning." She took in a deep breath. "And what a lovely smell. I like a bit of blood in the morning, don't you?" she smiled at Steph. "We could always share, you know, I like my meals to be handsome and I don't require the same of them as you do."

Welcome to the Voting and Feedback round for MF&P#11!

Voting and Feedback guidelines
  • Please take your time to read through all the entries before voting for your favourite work. The reasons you base your vote on are up to you, as long the vote isn’t based on whether or not you like the author.
It would be nice if you could share why you voted for a specific work.
  • Giving feedback is optional but highly encouraged. When giving feedback you should be respectful and constructive. It’s good to point out any flaws or the things you feel could be improved or why you didn't like something, but don’t be mean.
Make sure to point out what you liked or what appreciated in the entry too.
  • Contestants may (and are encouraged to) vote and/or give feedback for the other entries but shouldn’t vote for their own entry. If contestants wish to withhold a vote and only give feedback, that is good too.
  • The entries are anonymous unless the writer asked for having their name added. That being said, writers may claim their work at any time during or after the voting period.
  • The entry with the most votes will win, but in case of a tie a Contest Mod will cast the tie-breaker vote.
  • You can vote for entries and post your feedback in this thread, but if you rather have your vote and/or feedback be anonymous you can PM it to @Loksfjoer.
  • The voting period deadline is August 30th, 9:00 CET, which is 7:00 server time (both times are in a.m.).

The Entries

Two entries had the same title so I added a number for voting purposes.

That's it for this round and we have a total of 4 entries!

I'll create the voting and feedback thread later today, thank you for participating!
"We can go to HQ when we're done here," Mike said to Benjamin, getting an agreeing nod from his friend as the demons talked between them about things they could barely comprehend. The two focussed on their breakfast for a moment while they processed the conversation so far. There were things being said they had never heard of and insights they had never contemplated.

Mike was certain Stuart could be of help, but it remained to be seen if he was willing. Out of everyone in the agency, Stuart was their best bet. Once the waffle was gone he sat back in his seat.

"Was there more you wanted to discuss?" Benjamin asked, looking at April.

The young man squirmed in the shadowy grip. "N-nothing! I-I-I... I just gave her a goat that's it. I didn't do anything to her."

"Ma'am," one of the supervisors in the room with the television screens said as he pointed to what was happening in the corridor.
Reluctently Lily tore her eyes from Gaia's screen and glanced at the monitor her underling was pointing at. After an eyeroll she pushed a button and brought her lips to a microphone while keeping her eyes on Gaia's room.
"Steph, dear," Lily's voice sounded through a speaker, "Let go of him please. Good staff is hard to come by these days. If you're hungry for a man I will give you one, okay?"
"Nectar!" Benny replied. "I tried mead once, it made my head spin and I couldn't fly straight, but it was tasty." He flew behind Andy and held onto his shoulder as he watched the keg in Frosiiens hands. "But yeah, I really liked the nectar so I asked if I could have some!"
"Like peas in a pod," Andy said, holding his hand out to Benny who slapped it with his wing.

As Michael hoisted his backpack on the shoulders, Netherlu joined them. "Yo Father, fun party as always. I'm leaving with these humans. As long as they're in my-" he glanced to Nygari "-our region I'll keep an eye on them." He smiled with a fire burning behind his eyes. "I'll scorch those that try to harm your boy, but they'll be on their own after they cross the Johto borders. I won't trespass in the regions of the others."

Last day! The deadline is in 17 hours from now.
Fenna walked along with her female companions until they reached the gate and MacKensie fell back. She turned to see if she could help the young woman, but she seemed to manage. The following goodbye happened suddenly and there was no stopping her, so Fenna didn't try. "Alright, take care. We'll return to the Mended Drum when we're done here." The fumbling with the bags, the expression, the abrupt departure, it was enough for a hint of worry for the young woman, but it wasn't enough to go after her. Maybe being alone was what she needed. She watched MacKensie walk away until she rounded a corner and then turned to Lilliana. "Let's go to the church, we're almost there."

On the other side of the gate, Fenna glanced at the sky and noticed some birds of prey in the distance, but none of them were Sil. She wasn't sure how she could tell, but she knew the falcon was closer than that. She didn't know exactly where Sil was, but somewhere in or near the city, she was certain of it.

Once they reached the church they were just in time to see one of the sisters fall down. "Oh dear..." Fenna muttered and she rushed to the sister's aid. "Are you okay?" At first glance, the sister didn't seem to be injured. Not externally anyway.

An overhead shadow made her divide her attention for just a moment and she knew, just before looking up, that it was Sil. The falcon went to the tower where she would land and Fenna smiled as she would when she'd meet up with a friend; seeing the falcon gave a similar warm feeling as well. Although it made her wonder, earlier that day she had also thought about the falcon, wondering where she was, and moments later Sil had joined her. Did Sil somehow pick up on being wanted or needed?

Thoughts for later, she turned her attention back to the sister to see if she could help her in any way, offering a hand if she was trying to get up.
