I also realize that with Maxx gone I will either need to utilize his X-Men team as NPCs or skip over part of my plans for next season. I did not consider this until now.
If no one else picks up the team, I don't see any reason why they can't be NPC'd considering they're already established in the IC.

How about Victor Zsasz? That serial killer guy who marks a line on himself whenever he kills someone. I was thinking the Bruce Wayne Batman could have defeated him but he got out a while ago and travelled to New York and just recently began killing again.
I'm okay with you using Zsasz, but Bruce hasn't been Batman for over twenty years, so that might make him a little older than you're anticipating unless he was a bit of a young punk when he was first caught. He doesn't even need to be tied to Batman at all if that works better for you.
The current state of things seems to work with my current plans. In regards to the wider world of X-Men, I was planning on keeping my pool of potential supporting characters small in scope anyway because I feel sticking my hands in too many pots wouldn't end well. (For reference I'm currently only considering really: Gambit, Jubilee, Caliban and maybe Honeybadger in the future. Beyond that maybe some potential X-Villains that might reasonably work with the Facility.) And the idea for the wider world would result more in offhand references to the X-Men or the original "Weapon X", but nothing too concrete to lock any potential player out of them. This is potentially my first kind of game like this after all, so I figured my best avenue for success would be a small and focused approach instead of trying to do something big and important like the X-Men or Batman or something.

I wonder if I'm technically the defacto mutant expert now that Maxx is gone and I'm running Kitty, with her story being relatively connected to mutant history and current affairs. Hm.

You can, but if the villain's usual heroic foil is in play, you'll need to ask that player for permission. For example, if the villain you were interested in was the Riddler, you'd have to get permission from me as the Batman player.
Hello! I'm tentatively interested depending on if I can flesh out this concept I have in my head any further.
But before I do that, I was wondering what is the current state of mutants in the RP? The reason I ask is because the character I have in mind is X-23. Inspired by Runaways (the comic, I haven't seen the TV show yet) and Logan. Kinda a mixture of a modern western and a Bildungsroman I guess? But before I work on the idea any further, I don't want to step on the toes of any Wolverine or X-Men players that may potentially have any ideas for Laura.
Our Wolverine and X-Men players have left the RP for the foreseeable future, so the floor is yours. The X-Men were defined as being fairly new, the team that is in the IC was the first iteration of them, and they had only been around for a little over a year. That said, I'm not saying no to X-23. Project X isn't tied to the X-Men's timeline by any means, so if you want to go ahead with creating Laura, I think you can do that.
In Absolute, we've combined mutants and metahumans to streamline the game with 'metahuman' being a scientific name while 'mutant' is a slur. Attitudes towards them vary from person to person, so while heroes such as Supergirl and Wonder Woman were generally embraced, the average metahuman with powers was still mostly feared in some communities. The Season End Crisis is being perpetrated by a group who is intending to frame 'mutants' for their crimes, so if you're wanting to deal with discrimination and the usual X-Men themes, you'll still be able to do that moving forward.
I didn't waste too much time on the Supergirl idea since a really good character concept for her was quickly created but I remember I was split on the time between a Supergirl concept and a Power Girl concept. In either case I would try to make the concept different enough from my fond memories so I don't feel too tied down by the character like Batgirl kind of did with me.
What are your ideas for Supergirl and would they be able to work with the existing history of the character in the IC? Ideally, for Supergirl, I'd like someone to step in and resume the character where Inkarnate had left her, I'd be open to allowing the new player to make changes but preferably nothing that would contradict what's in the IC already.
As for She-Hulk, at the time I was thinking just a version of the original but after thinking about it I just don't know enough about she-hulk to make a good one, but I know a good deal about Hulk. So in a She-Hulk case I was thinking maybe twisting around the original Hulk story so that it is Betty Ross who gets transformed into the first Hulk rather than Bruce Banner. Just thinking about the complications such a change would have on the entire story would make for a unique experience, especially with how Thunderbolt Ross would react to such a situation, having his own daughter transformed rather than some nasty scientist man who likes his daughter.
That could be fun. I do know of one other person who has expressed interest in Hulk but please don't let that dissuade you if you're invested in this concept. Seeing Betty be the monster first while Bruce tries to 'fix' her has a lot of storytelling potential before even considering the dynamic with her father.
Still looking to pick up some new players for Season Two, plenty of characters still available.

Looking back at Batgirl, after some time, I realize that I didn't really have any arcs I wanted to explore. I had half-baked ideas but I didn't have anything really interesting to add to Barbara. Back in my previous Carol Danvers role I did have a story, characters and arcs I wanted to explore so that was a much more successful run.
Anyway, just looking back in to see if there is a character or idea I actually want to explore in Season 2. Too late to think about it any more but I'll be cracking a few eggs and see if I can make a cake with em.
I don't think I'll be playing as any previously established hero. I'm not sure I'd be able to do justice to the character, anyway. I'm confidant I'll be able to pull off hardened PI Jessica Jones.
But, for starters I'm going to submit an app for Mysterio. How do you feel about villain PCs? If this character were to be accepted, I would plan on having a redemption arc, Mysterio won't be a cold blooded killer and criminal. What do you think? If not, I totally get it, I'll go with Jessica Jones who I have some ideas for already.
Villain PCs aren't allowed, though we've made exceptions for players who have submitted villains turned hero. However for Mysterio, you'd first need to talk to @DocTachyon, our Spider-Man player to ensure that won't step on his toes.
Jessica Jones in my opinion would be a better fit though.

So if Jessica Jones is calling to you, don't feel obligated to fill a role because that's specifically what we're looking for.
