Awesome! I’ll start working on my app and character sheet, though I do have two questions. First, what are the languages used in this setting? Is it the standard Common, Dwarven, Elven, Draconic, etc? Or some that are specifically Disney themed? And secondly, when I do finish my app and sheet, would you like me to post it here in this OOC thread or PM it to you?
@Eviledd1984
So either the Mummy or the alien would work. However, at this time I am limiting each player to one character, so you’ll need to decide which concept you like more.

Also, since we have a lot of interested players, I’m going to start working on the OOC thread. So expect that in the next few days.
@Guardian Angel Haruki
So I was reading through the IC tab since this is a cool concept, and I noticed that you have the join status listed for the RP as apply. However, while reading through the OOC thread, I saw that you said a limit of seven players, which you have.

So I would like to ask which one is correct and if you have room for one more? As I read this I immediately got a character idea in mind: David Xanatos from Gargoyles, as a Variant Human Warlock bonded to the Archfey Oberon.

However if there are no openings that’s alright. Either way I’ll be reading through the IC posts as this is an extremely interesting RP.
@Havoccultist
I’m cool with having Nyarlathotep be a representative for the other Elder beings, basically their small window into what is going on on Earth. Also I’m totally down for you playing a weaker Avatar as it would mean that you are closer in power scale to the other members of the Council of Night.

@shagranoz
It will be interesting to have a human advocate on the Council. Also I have not read any of the Dresden Files, though it is on my ever increasing list of books to get around to reading.

@WhiteAngel25
So, you’ve convinced me, Kitsunes are monsters. So I was thinking perhaps we tone down the whole time and space bending, and focus more on the madness inducing and feeding on human’s energy. Also if you want, you could make your character the representative for all Yokai, as no one else seems to want to play a Yokai.

@Sailorsadie
I’ve only ever played a Skinwalker once before, and the RP didn’t last long. So I’m really interested to see your take on it.

@Eviledd1984
While having a character like Jason Voorhees would be interesting, I have to ask why he would care about being on the Council of Night? Like Jason mostly just goes about killing people without saying a world, so I doubt he cares much for the politics of all monsters.

However, if you just want to keep the undead serial killer angle, but drop Jason’s personality, you could have someone, maybe Freddy Krueger like, who has a big personality and maybe runs something like a serial killer organization. Like if all the various supernatural serial killers from movies formed a union, you would be head of the union.

Or if you want to try your other two ideas, we could do that. Like I said earlier, a mummy would be perfectly fine as the original premise for this RP was the classic monsters in modern day. I was also hoping someone would play an alien, hence why I added the sci-fi tag to the thread. So the Thing could work, if we tweak it a little. Perhaps they are on the Council waiting until there is a way to get off Earth. Or maybe it’s just settled into a feeding pattern and is on the Council just to maintain its share of the human stock.

Hopefully that makes sense to you.
@Mistress Dizzy
I hate it when you get all your words caught in your brain and can't just vomit them onto a page. Anyways thanks for the update, but don't feel a need to rush. We just got another person interested in the other thread so if they join they'll need time to learn the system and make a character.
@Abashi76
Here's the answer to those questions:
  • First we are using the Fate Core system alongside a Star Wars system hack. Both PDFs can be found in the first post.
  • Second is that this is set during the Galactic Civil War, specifically three months after the destruction of the First Death Star.
  • Third is that you guys are playing as people attempting to join the Rebel Alliance. Right now we have a no Jedi rule, though I might accept some other Force using traditions.

If you are still interested in participating, please head over to the main thread: Star Wars: The Fires of Hope.

We are still accepting new players, so if anyone is lurking about the thread and is interested in joining, please follow the link above. I promise that I don't bite.
There was a buzz in the air tonight as the night market officially opened. The sun had only set about a half hour ago, and yet there were already plenty of creatures out and about on the lower streets of Lunidio. Hidden away by glamor, this night market was a place for monsters to gather without worrying about the prying eyes of humankind.

For Tomas Malik, it was a nightly tradition for him to attend the market, even if he had no intention of buying anything. For the young Vampire, it was more about conversing with his fellow monsters, the only people who could understand what he was going through. There was a great pain to being undead, one that Tomas felt constantly.

Having departed the small house he rented a scant five minutes ago, Tomas was glad to live so close to the night market. Descending the steep steps that led to the lower levels of the city, Tomas looked out across the spread of creatures in front of him. He could see Witches and Warlocks selling magical brews, or Trolls roasting some kind of mystery meat. However, his attention was quickly grabbed by a gathering of fellow Vampires.

Even from this distance, Tomas could see and hear that they were followers of Fransisco, the new Vampire Prince of Lunidio. They were repeating the same language used by their leader, about Vampire superiority. It was a concept Tomas never really understood. From what he had seen in his life, Vampires were nowhere near the strong type of monsters. There were way too many ways to kill a Vampire, hell they couldn’t remain in the sun for too long without their flesh decaying.

But Tomas did his best to ignore the radicals as he stepped in the night market proper. As he walked through the stalls, Tomas was amazed by all the items for sale. While he did know that Lunidio had the biggest monster community of all of Vyra, Tomas was still wowed by things like preserved giant’s skulls or a grimoire written in the language of the western continent.

And yet, while these things were interesting, nothing really caught Tomas’s eye until he passed by a stall run by a fellow Vampire. Sitting on the wooden table was several vials of blood, each with a different tag, though only two were of interest to Tomas. The first one was labeled dragon’s blood, a rare commodity as most people hadn’t seen a dragon in hundreds of years. But even with its rarity, Tomas wasn’t much for animal blood.

However, the second vial was labeled virgin’s blood. While not super rare, it was the preferred type of blood among most Vampires. While there was no fact based basis to the claim, most Vampires said that virgin’s blood tasted better and made them feel stronger. Tomas had only had the pleasure of tasting virgin’s blood a few times in his life, and swore that he did feel better after ingesting it.

But before he could ask the vendor of the price of the blood, Tomas heard a commotion behind him. Turning around, Tomas saw that the Vampire radicals were struggling with another group of people. Tomas was unsure of what was happening until he heard a howl. The other group were Werewolves.

While this wouldn’t be the first time there had been violence between the two species, this one could be particularly bad as more and more people got dragged into the brawl. Cursing under his breath, Tomas drew his sword and rushed over to the fighting monsters.

“Alright everyone, break it up!” shouted Tomas.

While he had no actual authority, Tomas hoped that his status in Lunidio would be enough to stop the brawl. However, if it did not, he was prepared to crack a few skulls.

The city of Lunidio is considered the shining jewel of the Lancer Coast. Located on the far eastern side of the Kingdom of Vyra, Lunidio is a destination for all kinds of adventurers, scholars, and pilgrims. A melting pot of the various cultures of the central continent, Lunidio boasts a varied city structure. Nominally ruled by Baron Cragg, the true control of the city lies with the Church of Ascension.

The Church of Ascension is the prominent religion throughout most nations of the central continent, deeply tied to various royal families. The Church refutes all claims of magic and monsters, stating that only the One Above has such powers. And most citizens of Vyra agree with this take on life, believing that all there is in existence is their simple lives. However, they are quite wrong.

Monsters are real, leftovers from a long forgotten age. These creatures of the night now exist alongside humans, trying to maintain their anonymity. While some monsters prefer to hide in the wilderness, far away from human civilization, a sizable group has taken to living in the human cities.

Forming hidden communities within the larger cities, the monsters that could pass for human live in the shadows, staying on the edge of city life. The city of Lunidio has one of the largest of these shadow communities, with many different types of monsters living together. While they don’t always get along, they have done their best to maintain order.

However, things have changed in recent months. A new Vampire Prince of the city has been named, one who would like Vampires to take charge of the other monsters. And to make matters worse, the head of the main Werewolf Clan has passed away, leaving a younger, more head strong Werewolf in charge, one who would stake his ancestral claim to the lands around Lunidio.

With these two powerful figures squaring off, the other monsters of Lunidio are left to try and maintain status quo. They are always under the threat of exposure by the Church of Ascension, who have been hunting down monster societies all over Vyra.
@shagranoz
So a lich as a monster would be fine. As for being pro-human, how far do you want to take that? Like all members of the Council of Night would be alright with humans being eaten by monsters, but perhaps your character is for just taking what is needed, like only messing with humans when necessary.

If that's not what you meant, I'm not sure your character would work as a member of the Council. Perhaps we can tweak it a little bit so that it works.
