I think I have my writing confidence back. Feels like centuries since I could string together sentences.

Sometimes I lie awake dreaming of being as consistent in this hobby as I was ten years ago.

Hi. I'm a role-player/writer who has spent over twenty-one years in this hobby.

I will pretty much write anything as long as my partner is cool with my inconsistent posting pace and momentum. I'm pretty sociable and I make dumb jokes all the time. My favorite things to write is capeshit, anime, space operas, horror, and slice of life/mundane drama. My writing level leans toward minimalism, but I try to give my partners/groups more than enough to work off of. I like to think I am pretty flexible.

I like cinema, music, and animation just as much as I like writing with people. My biggest hobby after writing is pop media analysis. Ask me questions or for suggestions and I'm sure to have something for you. 😎😎😎

I just got an idea for Sepia's semblance so that's pretty helpful. Will write that down in the morning before breakfast.
With Cu that'd be 3 of the 4-5 needed. I can start drawing up the tentative OOC with the more information after some posts tomorrow in other projects.

Players: 4-5
Level: 1
Writing Level: Casual+
Pace: Mixed Tempo, short-to-medium posts as needed.

The Kingdom of Pallaviel has stood in the southern reaches of the continent of Iedda for centuries, fighting off threats of the merciless and greedy. It has suffered great tragedy and great triumph.

You know it well. It has been your home for your entire life. Several years ago the village you lived in, Ardenfeld, was attacked by a coalition of bandits with particular iconography. You were a child then and survived by the skin of your teeth, hiding with your friends. When the smoke cleared you were all orphaned. You parted ways, though you kept in touch as each of you found yourselves part of a new life and creed but none of you forgot the bandits who robbed you of your childhood and your families.

On the anniversary of the massacre, as adults, you reunite in a tavern on the road named The Lying Wolverine. As you will soon learn, your shared bond will start you on a path of great adventure. This is not a single story reflecting that but many.

I’m in the mood for D&D 5th Edition, so I decided to DM it myself.

I haven’t DM’d the system in awhile so a lot of this will be a refresher on how mechanics fundamentally work and my ability to design simple sessions for the most part. As long as you keep that in mind we’ll have some fun while this lasts!

I’m looking for four or five players to generate level one characters that, well, fit the prompt. I understand it’s a bit more restrictive than other D&D prompts but I had this idea in my head and I wanted to test it out here. Ideally, characters will be a race that fits the context of a small melting pot village and will be relatively young given the characters are now adults after a decade or so since the incident that changed their lives. All characters will know each other and at minimum remember how their personalities were as children. Standard point-buy array for attributes. With some spice thrown in. We’ll use something like myth-weavers in combination with a sorta traditional character sheet. More details on that soon.

This will be a benchmark/milestone level system with leveling happening at the end of 1-3 quest blocks. Something around there. I will be accepting most books from 5th Edition barring Unearthed Arcana (though I will accept feats and some case-by-case things). Other than that, I’m going to open the floor to questions and discussion of the setting going forward as we build interest.

Anyone want to give it a try and let this old dog relearn DMing 5E?
I see. Ironically, some of those traits definitely fits my character. I'll find some things.

I might have liked Artemisia better... (。・・。)

Probably will go back to that but keep the other name change.

Cool, cool. Sorry for the confusion on my part. :)
@TGM Yo !
I edited most of Artimisia - Now Thyma - sheet.

I read on what you mentioned, so I figured I'd change the name for something more fitting. Thyma is Greek inspired, Thymós, meaning anger. The rest is obvious I think!

Some of the text is the same but I added details and information, or better description. Other parts I rewritten completely. The only thing I am not certain is the Tangibles part -is that part necessary? I feel like I included most of what's necessary among the rest of the text. It could be filled with trivial other likes, dislikes or stuff she's good at not Hunter or Combat related...but her personality and how I built her means there is not much of that developed yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I actually thought your original name was perfect but that's cool, too. Might help me figure out TEAM NAMES easier who knows. Up to you if you want to keep it or revert it back. :)

As for intangibles think of them like what they are good at and not good at. For example, in Rai's RWBY RP some options I picked for my character were:

  • Talented Weapons Combatant and Melee Fighter.
  • Brave and Headstrong, capable at taking on enemies and adapting as the battlefield requires.
  • Keen battlefield awareness, though hindered by impulsive decision-making.
  • Visual learner; effective at learning from enemies and allies fighting styles by seeing it.
  • Capable of following orders despite personality issues.
  • Informal huntress training from age nine to fourteen and formal training at the combat school known as Oscuro Academy; making her a more refined combatant than those who are newer to the skillset.

  • Arrogant and Brash, leading to impulsive and insensitive decisions.
  • Prefers speed over power and precision; resulting in sloppy maneuvers.
  • Not book smart; struggles paying attention to technical data not presented like folktales.
  • Aura abilities are unlocked but only as the baseline level.
  • Does not trust or particularly work well with others. Is standoffish.
  • Paranoid. Will need character building and organic friendships to get past her trauma.

I hope that's helpful?
Look, I'm indecisive about FCs.

A response that was undignified as much as it was unexpected.

Lubna had dealt with similar comments before, though they always came as a surprise. In this case, her comrade-in-arms spoke of wartime anxieties, everyone else looking unwell, calling his fellows imbeciles, albeit dispargingly, before iterating how he felt like the cold winter while uttering something in his native tongue. She thought back to Ypern and of her own people, of the expressions that they said in the streets of Goudkleurig Square. What would they say to someone who thought everything was pointless and that their bones were comparable to a dry, cold winter?

Doe maar normaal dan doe je al gek genoeg. She began as she moved forward, closer to the man and forced a wide, friendly smile. “In Ypern, we say that often when times are at its most bleak. We must behave normally as this, all of it, is already quite crazy enough. Victory is only done by feigning anxiety and keeping a strong morale, after all.”

With a snap of her freehand she drew a steel flip-comb from her pocket and quickly ran it through strands of taupe and umber. Appearance was everything she reminded herself and that meant a feminine smile to instill confidence as well as her hair not being a frumpy mess.

“Whatever it is that is coming for us we must repel it. I have faith that you will ensure we survive the day.”
Started writing down some notes per what the sheets have so far. If there are any significant changes I should be aware of, do let me know with a ping!
