Vindication comes, so too does peace of mind as I close one chapter and open a new one.

Sometimes I lie awake dreaming of being as consistent in this hobby as I was ten years ago.

Quality posting is far better than needless novels, yet one should never neglect detail when one feels the need.

I’m not a good writer. I’m just good at pretending to be.

Hi. I'm a role-player/writer who has spent over twenty-one years in this hobby.

I will pretty much write anything as long as my partner is cool with my inconsistent posting pace and momentum. I'm pretty sociable and I make dumb jokes all the time. My favorite things to write is capeshit, anime, space operas, horror, and slice of life/mundane drama. My writing level leans toward minimalism, but I try to give my partners/groups more than enough to work off of. I like to think I am pretty flexible.

I like cinema, music, and animation just as much as I like writing with people. My biggest hobby after writing is pop media analysis. Ask me questions or for suggestions and I'm sure to have something for you. 😎😎😎

As Batwoman, Kate finally found herself–a woman who had finally come to terms with her dishonorable discharge in the United States Armed Forces, with her abduction as a child, and with the weight of the entire Kane Estate on her shoulders.

But finding herself meant that the darkness that had swallowed her for her whole life was brought onto others. And so too did the shadow of her past become infected with the darkness she thought she was free from. In her second year as a vigilante she came to odds with a secret society of occultists called The Religion of Crime and at the center of its nucleus was her twin sister, Elizabeth, whom the Kane Family had thought to have been killed when the twins were abducted in 2005. Elizabeth, reborn as Alice, sought to bring Gotham to its knees. However, despite her scheme’s failure she too slinked back into the darkness when Kate had a chance to end it, but failed to commit.

It has been almost a year since. Despite working in parallel to The Batman, Kate remained at odds with him and his mission; as well as his cabal of operatives. As far as she is concerned: she is alone.

This is a slightly modernized retelling of Kate Kane’s early years as Batwoman given the attributes of a scaling timeline. She wasn’t kicked out of West Point, so her military service record is fairly filled in this version. She’s been effectively working as Batwoman for three or four years. Her father doesn’t help or even know she does what she does and I’ve incorporated elements from the DCAU film “Mystery of the Batwoman” into her backstory and supporting cast. Only a year ago she was fighting the toughest fight as a vigilante and she isn’t truly affiliated with the Bat-family outside of wearing the Bat symbol as a sort of identity, purpose, and ideal.

Largely, outside of occasional team-ups if permitted Kate is on her own and a large part of her current arc is getting past her early “stick-in-the-mud” hostility to other vigilantes. In terms of her would-be villains I have ideas of setting her against traditional Batwoman foes like the Wolf Spider and the returning Religion of Crime as well as traditional Bat-family and Gotham elements such as the slew of organized crime in Gotham, Anarky, Killer Moth, and the like. I’m trying to be malleable with the prospective Batman players so whoever they are they can do their thing and I can do mine and outside of referencing events in our respective posts we can essentially do what we want with little issue.

I hope I can make this work and you'll have me.

The First Chapter! A New World?

The angel shrugged, “She was the same height, build, age, and gender as you are.”

Reincarnation was a fickle process. Over the years her department had realized that acclimating to a different body is exceedingly less difficult if it matched the biological dynamics from the previous body. Of the people that died at approximately the time Mako was cremated, this one matched the profile the closest. It was the best she could do. Sure, the body was more athletic and conditioned to the role of a knight-warden but it had all of the other required attributes. As far as things went, it didn’t matter that Mako wasn’t particularly combat ready or inclined. The body still had its muscle memory. She’d feel at home in it much faster than if she had picked someone shorter or taller instead.

“You’ll get used to the differences pretty quick.” She remarked as she went back to the clipboard. “As for where you go...”

As far as the angel could infer, the choice for Mako would be to travel throughout the Kingdom of Siilmera, perhaps wherever her host’s order originated. A character of her particular talents would have no issue gathering her bearings in a nearby town before managing to survive. There was more information to give the Japanese girl but Sigridelle was experienced enough not to give her too much to process at the same time. Her new life was going to be rough enough as it is and she likely had yet to process her death or the loss of her future.

Patience was key.

“The Kingdom of Siilmera is a big place, but its your home. I would advise you to start following the road and find yourself a town. I don't know, find a tavern. Seems like the sensible choice in your predicament.” She rose her eyes from the clipboard again, looking directly at her charge, “And before I forget, Mako Okobashi, as far as you or anyone else is concerned you are Alexisa Githameire; and you always have been.”
I mean I suppose technically.

So? What's the deliberation? Are we good? Guess I'm confused is all.

The First Chapter! A New World?

“You are...” She muttered after nodding to her question about reincarnation.

Sigridelle looked at the clipboard, scanning it for information.

Truth be told, Mako was on the money–technically speaking. The body she was now inhabiting was once a warden, a type of knight that served the Kingdom of Siilmera. She was also a variety of other things. All and all, if this were a game, Sigridelle supposed that Mako would be quite fortunate that the ‘RNG’ was in her favor. It did pose a bunch of challenges, however. Had a commoner died instead of a noble who wanted to play knight then there would be a lot less of a difficulty. She supposed she would have to explain that, too. Augh.

“A sort of knight, yes.” She looked back at Mako, “That would be the terminology. Suppose you should know they are called wardens in your order.”

A giant bird swooped across the sky, almost large enough to block the sun for a moment. Its shadow shrouded them albeit only for one moment. Sigridelle didn’t think much of it.

Mako’s question about her body’s death was a curious one. Before the magic of the celestials came upon her body her head had been bashed in by a mace–not exactly a dignified death for a girl who had yet to see thirty. But that was life. The chances and consequences people played with when they decided to play a role that was dangerous. She wondered if the young woman regretted her choice when the end came?

Most humans did at the end.

“Well, let’s just say her death was not pretty.” She remarked, “The reincarnation magicks definitely removed all signs of it.”

The First Chapter! A New World?

“It’s not valhalla, if that’s what you think.”

It was probably the first thing that came to the girl’s mind–or maybe it wasn’t. Sigridelle had gotten the question when something like this happened. An eternity of fighting. It’d be pretty easy just to tell people their new life was Valhalla and move on with her work, but it’d also be a cruel deception. As demure and irreverent as the angel was, she wasn’t cruel nor did she like people who were. Her eyes moved across the battlefield as she thought about the awful situation Mako no doubt found herself in. How could she get a 21st Century office worker acclimated to something that represented Europe’s middle ages? This job was going to be tough.

“Someone made a mistake in processing.” She stated nonchalantly, “You weren’t supposed to die. You were supposed to survive the crash.”

She looked back at the girl. Yep. That was the expression she expected.

“By the time the error was attempted to be rectified your family had already cremated your remains, so there was nothing to send you back to. So, they found a solution. This is that solution.”
Given we are completely independent of one another, I do not imagine there will be such an issue on either end.

The First Chapter! A New World?

“This is...” The angel brought her clipboard to her face, her eyes scanning it for information. “...Ah, right. Methiyl.”

The red-haired angel looked back to her charge, as she thought the best way to explain what a ‘Methiyl’ was. To the young Japanese woman she had just been in a gruesome car accident and then darkness before coming to light here. Had she been in Mako’s shoes she wondered how she would feel. The circumstances as they were did not seem ideal and the young angel was used to people knowing of her very poor bedside manner. In this case, she had every right to be.

“Anyway, names Sigridelle. I’ll be handling your case.”

This is where people tended to ask the usual “My case?” when she gave them the bad news. She had seen it before over hundreds of times in the last ten thousand years. Over the years that she had been working as a handler for mortals who found themselves in this situation, guiding them as she needed to, and giving them closure. A closure that was necessary if errors happened where a mortal was not supposed to die. The rate of correct successful processing of mortals was pretty high in her department but once again someone made the wrong call.

The wind rustled, leaves sprawling in the air.

“You died.”
My version of Batman is only 45. That's not old!
