As Kaito was talking with the baron a strange whisper reached his ears. For a moment he thought he was imagining it as his focus was clearly on the baron but when Cedar brought this topic up the fox was convinced he had heard it too. For a moment he tried to focus on these whispers and turned his invisible fox ears to the direction he heard it from but every time he convinced himself he had found the right direction the sounds just faded away.

Much time to think about these strange whispers wasn’t given as the Elf jumped straight to the point and the bear looked like he was desperately trying to not jump into a feeding frenzy. Hopefully Cedar could keep himself under control for a little longer. The baron had some questions to answer. ”O boy, miss Jazdia is jumping straight to business again.” Said Kaito as he smiled at the baron. ”It would be really helpful if you’d answer the misses her questions.” Spoke the fox as he infused his words with his charm magic.

Yes, I always envisioned that the ship has one. Somehow i forgot to add it to the description. Will do it later today. Or you can write a nice description and i will add that :)

As far as emplpoyment goes. In my head the idea was that everyone was relatively new. As in that Evren acquired the ship something around a year ago and that the crew has been sailing together maybe something like up to 6 months. Some might be around for those 6 months others maybe shorter.

I think everybody is at friendly terms with eachoter. Were after all confined to a ship so were basicly living together in a limited amount of space for prolonged periods. That doesn't mean we cant butt heads occasionally :)

Noticing how the baron followed by Jazdia started to eat without dying, Kaito figured that the food should be at least safe enough to not die instantly and grabbed a piece of bread as well. It was surprisingly tasty and the fox quickly grabbed another bite. When finished chewing it all down, he turned his attention towards the baron again.

”We knights tend to talk a lot in between all the training and missions we do. So news and stories kind of travel fast that way.” The kitsune paused a bit as the elf took the word. Fitting that she started about the food and the furniture. Baron Von Kruber’s hall was indeed rather retro.

”I’ve heard many good tales about Sir Caspar. I’m sure he will be a great tutor for your son. It must be lonely with the baroness and your boys visiting an acquaintance. Do you get many visitors at your castle?”

I think in about 2 days. Only waiting for the character sheets of Expendable and EthernalDragon. The latter said they he could only start working on a cs after getting home on the 29th. If the rest is ready to go before that i start the RP. It should not be too difficult to write an extra character into the scene.

History

Background: Born in space like most of her family Anxi is a Belter her home an asteroid claimed by her clan nearly 250 years ago which yields the family a moderate an boring Income. Ani the most restless in her group family was kept busy in her youth with the demanding study of orbiting bodies and the math that applied to that study while also placed in the families exercise programs, work programs, all to keep her involved an tired.
Her home Asteroid 7577-J10 Terra system is one of the larger ore bearing measuring 47 by 21 kilometers supported a huge extended clan of 32 branch families and 4693 people like her except Anxi is one children of the 12 daughters of the Matriarch Si Yue, not one of the important ones Anxi is still ranked enough she could be on the mining board but hated the political nature so joined the Navy... not one of her better choses.
Anxi used her skills and her family reputation as pilots to join the UNS forces and in the beginning she excelled and was happy till little by little her patience was wilted away and she didn't renew her contract.
It began in her training when an instructor coaxed (Forced) her into a romance which was exposed and might have ruined her career right there except for the intervention of her family.
She knew it would cost her later when her Gran reminded her of her bloodline responsibility (Creepy story redacted, not for public)
In the Navy despite her small form Anxi impressed those leaders that weren't part of the rank nobility their post bought an paid for on the frontier. What she lacked physically she made up with her innate understanding of 3-D maneuvering born in a world that had to make their own gravity her playground as an infant Zero or low G. Aggressive as a pilot she earned a reputation as bloodthirsty her ship to ship gunnery better than most of her superiors.
Anxi moved quickly into the fast track of young officers till she was assigned as all future command officers to JAG and because her superiors hated work made her an Investigator, a flaw on their part should have made her work as a researcher with no arrest powers.
Grounded Anxi threw herself into a mountainous stack of Case Logs reading through them faster than her cpo assistant had ever seen any young Lt. It was while relaxing in her quarters Anxi's memory of the mountain began to suggest some cases where connected so she looked deeper and discovered graft, corruption, and a long list of other charges. Trouble was the list of people connected to the mountain and how by the time they knew she had written a report it was too late to stop the dung ball from rolling. -But ton of people got busted an even those that didn't or weren't connected hate her as a Rat...no offense to Rats so their is no love lost between her and Naval officers that have heard of her- (Not want her dead but they wouldn't help her some would cause trouble bureaucratically, a slim few might set her up)
Knowing the core was no longer obliging Ani used her money to get lost on the frontier flying briefly a ship called Bounce One a cargo ship owned by one of the outer system elite an over amorous an possessive Lady related to a planetary Governor.
From there Ani joined two other ships till while waiting for the last to be repaired and that looking a 6 months repair she found the Dauntless

Kaito looked at all the food that was being served by the baron to their party. For a moment he wondered if it would be poisoned. That would be an easy way to dispose of his little group. And would not make less of a mess then decapitation, stabbing through the heart or getting quartered. That would certainly be his preferred method if he was in the Baron’s shoes. Somehow judging from Yvonne’s hesitation she was thinking the same thing.

For the moment the fox decided not to start gobbling down on the food and wait to see what the others would do. For now focussed on the Baron instead. Kaito had deliberately chosen a similar sounding fake name of a lesser known noble house in order to create a sense of familiarity between him and the baron. His next move would be to engage in friendly conversation, building up the relationship and softening up the baron’s defenses before moving on to topics where the good old baron did not want to slip his tongue. ”You have two sons right? How are they doing? I heard your youngest is going to come of age soon. Has he found a good tutor to squire for?”

Basicly evolved animals that became sentient and bipedal like humans. A bit like what if humans did not just evolve out of primates but out of other animals as well.

@PerfectThought The idea of droids didn't cross my mind when thinking up the RP but no plan survives first contact with the players. It's not to far outside of the realm I originaly thought of so I'll allow it. No spacecrew is complete afterall without their own C3PO/R2D2 :)

Could you be a bit more discriptive with how he looks? Right now it's a bit hard to imagine him for me.

@EmiliaBaiYue Anxi looks good so far. Can you expand a bit on her history? Maybe give her a rival or an enemy. Just a person from before she joined the crew that has a beef with her. Could be anything really. Maybe some disgruntled ex lover that is willing to go into extremes to get her back or something along those lines. That gives me as a GM some ways to create more personal stories for your characters :)

@Milkman@EmiliaBaiYue Definitely agree with you both. Maybe the best middle ground would be something similar to the Dune approach? Normal ships are fitted with a fusion engine of some sort to travel short-mid distances in "realspace" between individual planets/stars, and then to travel between clusters of stars (a far greater length) you attach/park your ship on massive ships equipped with "jump" drives/engines and be isolated inside your ship, but attached to the carrier for transport. And then you could add a megacorp eith a monopoly over jump tech/jump carriers. And then the possibility for rickshaw and or smuggler jump carriers, which are riskier but cheaper/not tracked (potential for smuggling).

I also have a few questions about the setting:
1) What're the races like? Have alien races been absorbed into the UNS? How alien are we talking? Can we make our own races up for characters? Because I'm aware you talked about players adding onto the lore. I have some cool ideas for races.
2) What company does the Dauntless serve? One of the main megacorps? A small freight company? Freelance? Is it a UNS government vehicle?
3) Can get some more details on roles? What does being the First Officer entail? How about the Navigator?

lets answer your questions first. Generaly speaking the races are Antropomorphic animals. They originate from the planet Terra and have been colonizing the planets that they could reach for hundreds of years now. Planets with breathable atmospheres have all been terraformed. No traces of alien civilizations have been found.

On the topic of Aliens, offcially no alien lifeforms or traces of them have ever been found. Ofcourse there are stories, rumors, myths, legends and conspiracy theories around aliens. Their existence is theoretically possible but currently not scientificly proven. If aliens will ever come around, it won't be in a Star Trek like fashion of a civilization to trade with. It will be more likely to be a strange, unexplainable phenomenon that could be alien but also something else.

The Dauntless is an independently owned ship. Officially owned by its captain but he has financed the purchase by taking a lone from the Triads crime syndicate. There is always this urgeancy of making some buck.

The first officer serves as second in command. He's basicly in charge of the ships operations when the captain is absent. He's responsible for much of the organisational stuff. Such as aquiring the provisions, spareparts and managing crew tasks. Basicly a sort of manager.

As far as the navigator goes his responsibilities are calculating the course in space and in orbit and servers a bit as a co-pilot.
