Everyone was revved up.
But I was miles away, lost in my own thoughts.

“It is a pleasure to meet you, Barrack.” Again, Aurora bowed her head. The Orc’s name, despite having a violent connotation was actually a place to shelter to comfort soldiers. The Light Elf found this interesting, as some note of his destiny.

Before Aurora could answer Barrack’s question, Rowan re-took his authority of the conversation. His gesture was polite and concise, and Aurora simply smiled behind his role. “With much respect, we are unable to give a satisfying answer the your question, Barrack.” The Light Elf held up a hand as a warning. “If not for our own good, for yours, as well, that we making this passing without interfering with anyone’s safety.” His eyes quickly shifted in penitence towards Zora and then back to Barrack. A smile of courtesy curled on his lips.

Aurora gripped her staff hesitantly. “Dear brother,” she began, not wanting to interfere with her brother’s judgement once again. She trusted him wholeheartedly and was already harvesting a request for Zora that she had yet to make known to him.

Rowan turned to Aurora. His smile faltered slightly as his demeanor softened. “Yes, Aurora? What is it?”

“I believe we may trust this Orc… and, I also believe he may be able to help us, if he wishes. Her smile was resolute and serious in its serenity. “He shows much courage, peace, and wisdom. I see his heart. It is very pure, and his bravery would only aid us, causing no one here any harm.”

Her brother’s shoulder lowered as his eyes closed and a sigh breathed from his lips. He allowed a moment to pass, as he contemplated his sister’s counsel. When he re-opened his eyes, a soft stare studied Aurora. How could he reject her advice? Only a fool would do so.

He turned his attention to Barrack. “Now that you are aware that there is danger involved in knowing our mission. Do you still wish to know?” He realized he could very well tell Barrack. It was unlikely his curiosity had been assuaged, but Rowan militantly preferred the formalities.
The silence begins to feel deadlier, and the strobing light continues in its ominous manner. She can feel her heart pounding in her chest, attempting to synchronize its rhythm with the light.

In an attempt to calm herself, her hand rests in the pod and feels the cool touch of metal. She closes her eyes, wondering how she could help the people trapped inside these containers.

Her breaths try to slow, and her mouth opens for a more calming relief. Finally, she re-opens her eyes and studies the room once more.

The opening was on the inside…

Should she wait for moment, or…?

Her eyes looked towards the domed door. Maybe there are people outside the room, and they would be able to help.

Her hand slid from the coffin, and she turned to look at the locker next to it. She walks over to the locker and examines it, in hopes of being able to open it, as well. (Action: Walk & Examine)

“Sometimes,” she said, squeezing my fingers and letting them go, “I think the real tragedy of life is that we’re always the people we were, and it’s only our outsides that change. And then one day we wake up to find we’re the only adults left in the room—but inside, we’re all just children pretending.”

The Ballerinas, Rachel Kapelke-Dale

Neomi Adams

Shattering glass splintered through the air. Noemi covered her face momentarily, feeling slight wisps chip against her skin. She couldn’t remember if she screamed or not. Her mind was racing too quickly. Every thought that flickered through her mind had turned into a blaze of incomprehensible emotions.

For a brief second, she had dared to turn back around and help Toni and the others. Had she abandoned them or was she obeying Yiya? But, then there was the startling creature — a Rue — attacking Echoh. In the background, more Rue, with their twisted smiles and fluttering eyes masked their surroundings. Was this really a job for inexperienced Howls?

And just like that, the thoughts, again, bitterly disintegrated.

“Echoh!” She called out as the terrarium threw a tea cup at the Rue. The gesture was unsuccessful, and Neomi had to think quickly.

She slung her backpack around an arm and took in a deep breath. There wasn’t much time to concentrate or make things perfect. It was do or die.

Her feet took several steps forward towards Echoh and the Rue. She stretched out her open hand and swirled it in front of her. Threads of air began to gather as she made the motion, and with one final gesture, Neomi released the tendril as a small burst of violent wind. Never before had she used her manipulation of air to cause harm nor done so with much force.

However, there was very little thought on the matter.
