Seeing as how in Alphonse's lore I had Death create the Mothmen, I think it's a very normal thing for Death to be an NPC in this. And Alphonse would definitely be very well acquainted with Death. Maybe even friends.

Personality: Mitsuaki has always been one to keep his true feelings to himself. On the outside he displays an aggressive, don’t touch me attitude - the years spent in an orphanage doing wonders to destroy any sort of self-love and niceties. When someone gets to know him, however, they will find the most loyal companion who has a hard time expressing his thoughts and feelings.

Even with the young man being dismissive and almost rude sometimes, he’ll stop to help those that need it, and ask nothing in return. He’s particularly weak for the elderly grandmas that will occasionally give him candy.

Backstory:

This is probably unnessecarily long imsorry

From the beginning Mitsuaki was unwanted. Left as just a crying babe at the children’s orphanage in Tokyo, he began his life as just another child that grew up without parents. The staff of the orphanage were kind enough, he guessed, but it wasn’t the same as seeing children walking the streets with their actual parents, all laughing and loving and being happy. He wasn’t laughing and happy in the orphanage. He wasn’t loved.

It was hard not to get into fights when you had that kind of mindset. School was a struggle, Mitsuaki finding himself friendless and the butt of other people’s jokes, so his fists made friends for him. He earned himself the title of Bully Orphan, and it only caused a larger rift between him and his peers. New students were always turned against him by the rumors circulating the school halls, but he didn’t care. He didn’t care at all. Not even a tiny bit. Being friendless was fine. If it was always going to be this way, then he would learn to never let it get to him.

With the passing of time came change, though, and when he turned 15 his whole life turned upside down. The older kids in the orphanage were never adopted, most adult families wanting young ones to mold into their own perfect children, but the Suzuma couple was different. They were older, getting on in their years, and young children would just cause them more pain than it was worth. Mitsuaki was the oldest in the orphanage at this point, and even with the caretakers trying to urge the Suzuma’s towards some of the younger residents, they chose to sit with Mitsuaki.

The silence filled the room as Chiaki Suzuma and her husband Eijiro Suzuma filled out the paperwork to take Mitsuaki home. Finally, the boy spoke. “Why do you want me?” He could barely look them in the eyes. 15 years of his life had gone by without any parental figure, why would the next 15 be any different? Chiaki smiled at him as Eijiro kept filling out the papers, not bothering to look up from the scribbling.

“You have a soft soul,” her voice was soothing, and she stood, moving to the couch that Mitsuaki sat in. She sat next to him, taking his hand. “And every soul deserves a chance to excel.”

He was blown away at the kindness radiating from her very being, her smile shining more than a thousand stars. Maybe having a family, even this late in the game, wouldn't be that bad. Mitsuaki cried from happiness that day for the first time in his life.

Home life with the Suzuma family was…for lack of a better word, it was different. There wasn't much noise as a whole, but the air was different. Fresher. Not that the orphanage was dirty or anything it was just…it wasn't the same.

There was another boy that lived with the Suzuma’s. Juno Suzuma was an orphan too, adopted by Chiaki and Eijiro. He was loud and obnoxious and took so much thrill in just living life that Mitsuaki thought he would hate his new older brother. Instead, the two were soon inseparable, bonding as brothers and truly becoming family. The years flew by for Mitsuaki, passing in the blink of an eye. Finally, he was nineteen.

In the four years that has passed he has learned how to drive. He has learned about the various bands that filled the world with their songs (not that he didn't know about them before, he just had no real way to listen.) Juno took him on regular excursions into the City of Tokyo, far away from their small town of Sagamiyama. He was finally living, and growing, and thriving.

Leaving Sagamiyama that fateful winters day though…it just about ruined his life.

The brothers had made their way to Tokyo, the holiday shopping about to begin. Streets alive with the whole of Tokyo, it seemed, they didn't pay any attention to those around them. Their adoptive mom and dad were on their minds, the pair discussing between them what sort of presents they would shower their parents with. It was the first Christmas since Juno had gotten a job, and he was eager to spend as much of his hard earned money on the family he wanted to thank.

Icy roads and snow greeted the drivers of Japan that day, but late shoppers were out in droves trying to get what they could. It was these conditions that caused the car to skid, going way too fast in rough weather, causing the driver to lose control. Juno noticed just in time to try to push Mitsuaki out of the way, although it wouldn’t do much good for the younger brother, and took the brunt of the hit from the car. Juno was pronounced dead at the scene, the car hitting Mitsuaki hard enough to hospitalize him in critical condition for a few months. Among all of the bystanders, they had it the worse, a few others around them only being partially injured.

It was touch and go for Mitsuaki in the hospital, his body almost giving in to death a few times, but he ultimately survived. With his survival though, came the guilt of being the survivor for the accident. He had nothing real to offer to society - Juno was the one that should have lived. It haunted Mitsuaki, and it was almost as if…almost as if he could still hear Juno, calling out to him. Telling him not to worry, that he would never leave their family.

Wait.

He had begun to see pulses, ghosts that hadn’t passed on yet. Thinking that it was just from the accident, that his brain still hadn't healed completely, he was able to push everything he saw into the realm of imagination until it was Juno that was hovering in front of him. Mitsuaki didn't know whether he should laugh or cry. His brother was here, his ghostly spirit promising to never leave his side. Even in death, he would protect him, and help him grow as much as he possibly could, until Mitsuaki himself joined him in the afterlife.

Why did you become a Substitute Shinigami:
Mitsuaki reversed completely once Juno died. He has been growing, had been expressing himself more, but once he lost that driving force he began to go backwards. When Juno popped up again, albeit dead, Mitsuaki didn't know what to do, since Juno brought a whole new world of souls with him.

With the pulses of the dead, though, came Hollows.

It descended from the sky one night, the chilling moon casting red shadows around the town. Mitsuaki could feel it, the presence terrifying him. Juno did his best to protect his brother, but there was only so much a ghost could do. Yeah sure, his soul was the one that it wanted, but a chance to eat a human? No Hollow would give that delicacy up.

Time seemed to stop as Mitsuaki was flung, bleeding, against a wall. Juno diverted its attention, but the damage had been done. Mitsuaki was once more at death's door, and thought that this was finally it. Twenty years gone to waste, at the hands of some…some monsters. He watched as Juno poured every ounce he could to save his little brother, his soul almost being devoured by the Hollow that was dead set on Mitsuaki being his next meal. He was going to die. He was going. To. Die.

He was given a third chance, though, when the Shinigami descended to stand in front of him. He had the strength, they said, to be saved, but only if he still had the will to fight. He didn't care about the double life, or the new responsibility. He only wanted to save his brother.

In the end, the hollow fell to Mitsuaki’s hand. Mitsuaki had done it. After he recovered and mourned Juno's true death, he was ready to pour what he could into his new life as a Substitute Shinigami. No one he loved would ever die again. Not on his watch.

Zanpakuto:
Mitsuaki's Zanpakuto sits in a plain black sheath. The sword itself is very unassuming, as if the sheath. The only adornment that it has is two small wooden carvings tied to the hilt with vibrant red string. The two figures are of a Koi, painted Pink, and a shiba Inu painted Blue.

Techniques:
[Zanjutsu]

• Cut of the Rising Sun - Rushing the enemy, the Shinigami utilizes their speed and precision to twist their blade to face the sky, raising it to the heavens in a sweeping upwards slashing attack.
• Hirazuki - A basic technique taught in a dojo run by the Civil Corp in Rukongai. It is simple a thrusting strike, that transitions into a horizontal swing. As the horizontal swing comes out almost immediately after the thrust, it can be difficult to avoid, and of course should one have the strength, a successful thrust can transition into a brutal killing stroke.

[Hoho]

• Flight step - An evasive maneuver, the practitioner utilizes their speed and skill to practically fly through the air, closing the distance between them and their destination quickly. Cannot be used over long periods of time.
• Jiho - "Two-step", a rather simple but practical movement technique. The user essentially moves a short distance quickly, twice, in whatever direction they desire. It can be out of harm's way, and then back into the advantageous position, or used to get behind the opponent by going around them.

Morgannis' 1x1 Search begins! (mxm Mature || 21+)

Heya! Morg here, looking for some 1x1s to keep me entertained in the off hours while waiting for replies!

A little bit about me if you haven't seen me around. I'm 30, and have a full time job and a dog that keeps me pretty busy overall. I would prefer a partner who is at least closer to my age, but as long as you're 21+ it's fine. I've been role-playing for roughly over 20 years now, and consider myself to be more casual lit. I mainly try to match my partners post lengths, but it really depends on what's going on with the RP. I can do anywhere from 2 paragraphs per post, to 5 or 6, depending. I love building immersive worlds, and running multiple characters for the story to feel alive. I've been known to play upwards to ten different characters if needed, mostly for story elements.

I'm looking for someone who doesn't mind darker topics, and is willing to do MxM (or other queer) pairings in a high fantasy setting. I have an idea that I'll list down below that I want to work through, as well as the character that I am massively craving to play right now.

For high fantasy, I am up for any and all races you want to bring to the table. I just want a world with magic, kingdoms, and wars on the horizon. We can talk semantics and nuances when we start planning. None of my plots or worlds are set in stone, so if there's something that you want to change or a certain character that you want to play, you are more than welcome to! Like I said before I'm all about world building and living, breathing worlds.

So, on to the actual details.

A world that's mostly fleshed out already

Selestia, land of the Gods.

As every good story, it begins with a cult, claiming that the God of Death is their patron. He demands souls, demands the world to be cleansed of its sins. A group of adventurers are hired to stop said cult, which then leads them in a wild goose chase of trying to find a way to the Temple of Death. A fight with Gods isn’t easy, but the God of Death is somehow defeated, with the help of a great mage that came prepared. What the group didn’t know, though, is that the mage is working with the cult, and went there only to steal the essence of the God of Death for their own master.

Said group then must help the God of death to reclaim his essence, and take the fight to the cult leader before it’s too late.

This was a real TL;DR summary, apologies for that, but it would be far longer if I actually didn’t short hand it. X’D I also have most of the places, Gods and other things already situated for this plot, but we can completely make it up as we go.

A world that's still being developed

A world with many different, varying kingdoms and races. Typical high fantasy - Warriors, wizards, dark forbidden magic and dragons.

The Kingdom of Aligor was always full of strife and ruthless kings. Conquerors come from these lands, the dark magics that surround the fields cursing every man or woman that sat upon the darkened throne. Everyone thought it would be different, that the defeat of the last great King would change the overall tone of the country, but there was no shift to be seen. A young Prince had last taken the crown, and it warped him into the most brutal, devilish King ever to have graced the land.

Wanting to get ahead of the brewing, bloody war, a mercenary group is hired by one of the other Kingdoms to take the fight to the King of Aligor, with the idea that an assassination would save all of the world from their problems. It doesn’t quite go as planned.

That’s the basic premise, pretty open ended. We can figure out ideas as we go, but I’d like it to be more party based (maybe 4 characters max? So two each) style, and their adventure/subsequent attempt to murder a King.

Nifft Mercar - my major craving

Nifft is an elf who was once a slave. He served directly under a Court Wizard, who happened to be very into dark magic.

An elf who wears his heart on his sleeve, it’s impossible for Nifft to hide his emotions. If he’s angry, sad, or happy, you’d know without needing a second glance. Chronic anxiety plagues his every waking thought, even though he tries to hide it with witty remarks and jokes. He’s constantly moving, fidgeting with something, whether that be a knife or some sort, or picking at his fingers and clothes. He harbors a dark secret, one he would never give up willingly, to anyone.

Nifft will give anything to help those who need it, though, and is often short on coin because of it. He works frequently with a group that goes around trying to rescue slaves, and provide them with some sort of work or way to support themselves, as well as try to protect them from their tormentors.

I do have a direct plot for Nifft, but it’s just a side plot that can fall into any sort of major story. He’ll be one of the major players in whatever plot we do.

Edit because I forgot to add that Nifft is also a gremlin who would steal everything he could get his hands on, if he could get away with it. That, and he's really short for an elf. So short that people think he's a half-breed, but he's not. He's just tiny. Tiny, scrawny lil guy. Lil gremlin guy. Ilovehim.

Alphonse had been, as always, in his own head when he heard the faint galloping coming his way. It wasn’t loud enough to draw him out, though, as he stared off into space, his pace all too slow. The sun was quite nice, and his wings were unfurled, soaking in the rays. Brilliant browns and grays shimmered, and a bit of blue almost seemed to reflect from the light.

Turning once he heard a voice, there was a slight noise of surprise that left his mouth. The centauri girl that lived on the first floor of his building. Oh, what was her name? Elida? Edila…? No, no neither of those were it. He wracked his brain for a moment, trying his best to remember before... Oh! Eilidh?

”It is no problem, Eilidh. I am quite well,” one pair of arms hung to his side, while the other pressed their fingertips together. There was a light smile on his face as he turned to her fully, his whole body pointed in her direction with engrossed anticipation of their conversation. “It is quite a lovely morning! I am not often out and about for ones such as these, so it is a nice change of pace. I had a lovely breakfast in the restaurant just now, and am having a bit of a morning walk. I…Cannot honestly remember the last time I was out in the sun, so I think it would do me a little bit of good,” there was a soft laugh from the mothman. “But it has been nice. How has your morning been treating you so far?” By now his wings had curled back up against his back.

The sweet nectar was delivered to his table, Alphonse almost not noticing the chef that brought it. With the clearing of her throat, the moth was pulled from his thoughts and back into the world of the restaurant around him. ”Thank you very much,” there was a light smile given to the woman who bowed to him, before she left him to his thoughts once again.

Building 2 of the Umbra Rose Condo’s was always so quiet, although Alphonse wouldn’t dare complain. It was nice, the silence. It was nothing like the city, so full of noise and smog. They couldn’t even see the stars with all of their lights, and eventually, Alphonse thought, the moon would disappear too. The smog would cover the sky in a permanent haze, his beautiful moon disappearing with it. A wave of despair washed over him at the very thought of the moon vanishing, and he convinced himself a second later that this would never happen. That it was just the imaginings of a very hungry mothman.

Nectar. Right.

Placing a napkin delicately on his lap with one set of hands, the other set of hands gingerly moved to hold the glass cup that his nectar was brought in. Opening his mouth, a long, tube like object began to unfurl, fitting into the cup of clear liquid. Behind the black cloth, Alphonse’s eyes closed with delight as the Primrose nectar began to satisfy him.

His mind began to stray again, to what the rest of the day held for him. It would mostly be sleep, but a walk wouldn’t be bad. Alphonse was hardly ever up during the day, and while the sun hurt his eyes, it would be nice to feel the warmth for a while. Perhaps he would stretch his wings, soak them in the shining rays for a few minutes. Yes, that sounded like a splendid hour well spent.

Finishing up his drink, Alphonse picked the napkin up and gently wiped his mouth, his tongue sliding back in to once again hide away. He gave a silent thanks to the chefs before he stood to go do just what he had decided to do. Stepping out from the restaurant into the sun filled day, he made sure the blindfold around his eyes was as tight as it could be before he went on his merry little stroll.

I LOVE Unholy Heights! You mentioning it now, I can't believe I didn't make the connection between this RP and that game sooner! X'D It's been so long since I've played it, and it just got so hard at one point that I gave up entirely.

As for Alphonse, it's hard for me to see any Horror movie phasing him. If it's about something that's dead, he'd just feel bad for them. I could see some sort of like, jump scare happy movie getting him, I suppose. I'm not a huge horror movie watcher so I'm not particularly sure of any good ones that would do that.

For video games...I'd see him loving a super heavy story based one. Life is Strange? A series like that would destroy him, and he would love it.

Haha a movie night sounds fun! Halloween movies? I wonder if anyone would actually be scared of them. x'DD
