Me = sick. Me = call doctors office. Doctors office lady = unhelpful with scheduling an appointment for me. Proceeds to tell me to go online to do it myself. *hangs up* Me: goes online. Cannot... :C
I do not know if I can help you at all, but I have a few ideas that could maybe help?
Sometimes clearing the cache and cookies in your browser can help fix sites not loading, especially if they are filled they can cause this issue.
You can always download or use another browser tool on your computer. Sometimes things happen, and you just gotta start using a different browser for a bit or even uninstall the current one you have and re-download it again. (Make sure you have another browser if you are going to uninstall one!!!)
FOR EXAMPLE: I have Firefox and Chrome. I have Ecosia too. (So, I can always uninstall and reinstall browsers if needed.) I really only use firefox though.
Sometimes you just have to refresh/restart your internet.
I'll keep that in mind. I'll most likely bring up days when it comes to flashbacks and time skips, etc... Thank you! :) I was also being lazy on the fact of not changing my cool text generation much. lmao.
Ruben glanced over to make sure whoever was entering the back of the Tavern was supposed to. Seeing Emma's familiar face, he raised a brow before looking at his watch and decided not to comment about her being late since he had better things to do than tease her today. Usually, he would comment something along the lines of 'Oh, you're early this time' or a sarcastic comment that he meant to be playful and light-hearted. He would do this no matter if it was taken wrongly or not by the young woman.
Realizing Reya was only feet away from him, he sighed and realized; he should have gotten more sleep last night. Trying to keep his attention on the drip, he was figuring out how heavy it was and if it was constant before getting to work. Emma began to talk about a guy that she had that could look at the roof, and Ruben's face twisted, physically showing that he was bothered that the girls, assumingly, were going to get another guy to do this job. "I can do it..." he whispered and didn't mind if anyone didn't hear him.
Breaking from his obsessiveness of this water damage, he decided to give a faint smile to Emma. "Goodmorning Emma," he spoke softer in the mornings, usually. Allowing himself to be taken away from the water damage and move closer to Emma, he glanced at the bag of scones. Thinking about taking one, but he waved his hand to show he wasn't interested right now - he ate this morning.
Ruben raised a brow when Emma brought up the type of scones and that she was talking too much; she seemed to quiet down right away. Sighing, he spoke up, "Your talking is fine, Emma. You have a decent-sounding voice, so at least it's not irritating," this was a compliment coming from Ruben. If it was taken as one or not, he meant it to be a compliment or positive statement, but he never seemed to directly compliment people.
Deciding to clock in a few minutes early, he registered his time as 8:27 in the morning. Ruben's usual shift was right when the Tavern opened or a bit after. His schedule said to clock out at 5 in the afternoon, but he tended to stay after for Reya if he was on the clock or not. He began to wash his hands over in the kitchen sink and prep himself for work this morning. The regular was eggs, toast, and other common breakfast items, which were on the menu. Very few people ordered customizable breakfasts, but he didn't mind if they did.
Ruben walked in the doors of the Fox Hole Tavern a few minutes after eight in the morning. Two older ladies instantly noticed them, his mother's church companions, "Oh, Micah, you are looking more handsome with age," the one said with a smile. His brows furrowed while he gave a smile, "Thank you, Mrs.Kreps," he dipped his head while making his way towards the back. Those two older ladies always bothered him, probably because they constantly talked to his mother.
"You should come to help me around the house! I need a young, strong man to move furniture," Mrs.Lonner stated while waving him off to his work. Waving her back, he smiled, "I will think about it. I already cleaned your driveway this morning," he informed her while entering the back. Him being an 'angel'; or something along those lines were said by the older ladies while he entered the back of the tavern.
Entering the back, he usually shows up fifteen to thirty minutes before his shifts. Instantly, Ruben could hear the dripping noise echoing from the soup pot Reya put down not too long ago. Sighing while walking past it, he ignored it while taking off his brown leather jacket and hanging it up in the employee's area.
Glancing over to the damaged area, he slowly walked over while blinking at the pot a few times. Thinking about how he should respond to this occurrence, he let his eyes follow the drips up to the ceiling while he thought about things, "Hey, Reya!" raising his voice while calling the boss's name. His voice echoed naturally, which made it louder in enclosed spaces, but his tone showed that he was light-hearted or wanted to ask something out of curiosity. If Reya was only a few feet by him or not, he was hyper-fixated on the dripping noise and the overall damage that the water was creating; Ruben didn't even notice her.
The leak usually occurred around this time of year or rainy seasons, so he knew it wasn't a leaky pipe. Running his fingers through his hair, he kept them there while staring up at the ceiling that showed water damage.
The year before last. Last year. Now this year.
Ruben's shift didn't start till 8:30 A.M. today, so he wasn't in any rush to get away from the leaking roof. It gave him more time to consider the situation and what he should do about it. Knowing that this small town didn't have a constant business, he knew that Reya might not be able to put extra expenses into fixing the roof. Ruben was decided if he wanted to climb up on the roof in December and see what he could do about it. This thought caused him to bite his lip, he didn't want to fall through if water damage had affected the structure.

Short Bio
Micah Ruben Dotson grew up in Sanctuary, Colorado. He had a simple life with being an only child of a married couple. Growing up and participating in most of the events, Ruben went to summer camp at Camp Bearfoot which was cut short for him when he tried to attempt a stunt that resulted in a broken arm. His family moved out of Sanctuary, Colorado the summer before his freshman year of high school. This caused a tunnel of bad things to happen, his parents divorced, he got a slap in the wrist from his mother, and he wasn't getting his act together till everything fell apart. Once the flood gates broke, Brenda Dotson knew she had to move her and Ruben back to Sanctuary and she did for his last year of high school. Instantly after graduation, Ruben moved off to college. Succeeded in getting a bachelor's degree in the culinary arts and an associate's in baking and pastry work. After graduating from university, he moved to New York because of a high-end job offer as an apprentice in the kitchen. Climbing the ladder and becoming a Deputy chef, he lived life to the fullest for a few years. He then got into a bad crowd around twenty-six and disappeared from everyone he had contact with for one and a half years. Most think he went to prison for substance abuse, his mother does, but he reappeared after that time pretty safe and healthy-looking. Right before his twenty-eight birthday, he decided to start working at Fox Hole Tavern where he began as a full-timer. He would do anything the boss needed, cooking, busboy work, waiting on guests, etc... Since late May of 2021, he has been the head chef at the place he works and he is loving it. Some people even comment how he smiles more which makes him smile even more.
[Notice - This information will be common if you know Ruben or his family. If you live in Sanctuary his mother has probably already told you most of this once or twice (or his grandparents have vaguely talked about it).]
Micah Ruben Dotson was born and partially raised in Sanctuary, Colorado. Having an average childhood while roaming the streets of the hidden town, Ruben grew up in a simple home with two married parents and no siblings. It was a somewhat lonely time for time, but he was known as a social kid. The biggest thing that most children would remember Ruben for was his dumb stunt one summer at Camp Bearfoot. There were a lot of different options to jump into the water, but Ruben wanted to show off, so he did just that by getting rushed to the hospital within the same few hours of jumping off one of the high railings at the waterfront.
The summer before high school, Ruben's parents sat him down and explained they both got jobs in a big city. They explained it would be a wonderful experience, and he would make many new amazing friends. They tried their best to sugarcoat the whole process and get their family to another city without issues. Experiencing such a different place for the first time, Ruben was known as a good kid back home, but that changed in his teenage years. His parents ended up divorcing in his early teen years after the move, and he decided to live full time with his mother after his father got right into a new relationship. Ruben could be more upset than his mother at this fault, and his mother started going to church even more because of it.
His mother being single and working harder than ever, Ruben got into bad crowds and wanted to help his mother, but she wouldn't allow him to get a job. This outcome gave the young man the bright idea of selling illegal products in alleyways, parties, and anywhere he could not get caught. Being a dealer went on for months; he even would gaslight his mom and make her believe she miscounted her tip money at work.
Emotionally, he knew his mother was suffering from the divorce, the betrayal, and finances all the time. She wouldn't get out, treat herself, or make new friends. She always would say that 'God has a plan for everyone, and he's testing me' or 'I need to focus on you more than anything right now.' She was in denial, and her son lying to her was probably not the best. Ruben ended up getting dropped off at his doorstep one night after being caught with illegal substances on him, tears in his eyes, and he was only seventeen at the time. The cop was a lifesaver in Ruben's mother's eyes since he came in and talked to the woman for two hours about it. He ended up explaining to Ruben that if he saw him selling anything on the streets again, he wouldn't hesitate to put him behind bars. Ruben's mother was keeping her emotions bottled up when the officer was in the home, but he left, and the watergates opened. Everything from cursing, asking God where she went wrong, and bringing up his father cheating, his mother needed answers on why her son was doing illegal things. This experience got Ruben to stop since he didn't want to disappoint his mother.
They ended up moving back to Sanctuary, Colorado. Ruben lived there till he graduated high school at 18. He instantly went to university, moving away, and trying to discover himself. During his four years of debt building, Ruben found himself with a bachelor's in culinary and an associate's in baking and pastry. Deciding not to move home right away, Ruben stayed away from Sanctuary since he didn't want to face his mother or the rest of his family from his mess up in his teen years. He was scared of his grandparent's opinion of him, so he stayed away.
Ruben wanted to become a chef after the divorce. He cooked for his mother almost every night. Ruben would repeatedly create dishes and recipes till he was a top student. He did this even to prove that he didn't need a recipe to make something 'perfect' in a sense. After graduation, he moved to New York after accepting a high-end job as an apprentice chef. Being twenty-two and working at a high-end job, Ruben ended up getting into bad crowds once again. Old habits die hard?
The bad crowds did not affect him for the first couple of years while he worked his way up in the kitchen. Finally, he became another restaurant's Deputy chef and stayed in that position for a few years. He started to drink more, a lot more, and during his daily calls with his mother. She stated that, 'he was turning out like his father', which caused the two to argue. He ended up not talking to his mother for almost two years.
No one heard anything from him at this time, he lost his jobs, and his mother still thinks he went to prison for substance abuse. He won't tell anyone about those two years, but he moved back to Sanctuary at twenty -seven. Getting his life back around, he decided to go back into cooking, so he started at the Fox Hole Tavern a little over two years ago. Ruben began working at the place as a shifter, where he worked full time, but he did multiple different things. Whatever the boss needed (a cook, a waiter, a busboy, etc...) Since late May of 2021, he has been the head chef at the place he works and he is loving it. Some people even comment how he smiles more which makes him smile even more.
miscellaneous
This house was built sometime in the early 1800s and has been in the Dotson family's name since. Ruben inherited the house when the divorce hit, but he didn't receive full ownership till twenty, but he had no plans for it since he was in college. This abandonment didn't leave the house in any harsh condition, since his mother's parents would keep up on it when they could (fixing major damages.) Because they believed Ruben would move back one day, which he did. Ruben decided he liked the look of the overgrowth and never took it off, he doesn't really bring anyone here anyways and he lives in the middle of nowhere in the mountains.
Ruben will only say that he has one pet, Dingo, the german shepherd. If anyone went to his property, he has multiple stray cats that he feeds. He has even gone so far as to build tiny insulated houses that he put on the side-to-back yard of the house. He will say that none of the animals around his place are his except Dingo, but he allows the animals to come in and out as they please through the doggy doors and has multiple occasions where he has fallen asleep on his couch petting the kittens and stray cats. There have been occasions where stray dogs will arrive at his place. Ruben allows the dogs to stay around till missing posters appear or they leave by themselves. He might not show it or even admit it, but he feels too guilty to send them to the pound.
Technically, Ruben has three dogs, including Dingo and a dozen cats.
Birthday July 30th, 2004 Age 17 Occupation Social Media influencer (Instagram and Tiktok profile) Up to 15k followers on both platforms combined.
Short Bio: Marcus Dotson is the younger cousin of Micah "Ruben" Dotson. His father was born and raised in Sanctuary before going to college and getting a career job out of state. This led this side of the Dotson family to be born and raised in big cities, and Marcus started his music career at a young age. It began with piano lessons, moving to guitar, and playing a few other instruments while working on his voice. He became a musician and stuck to it with his natural talent, joining the pep band in high school, and getting scholarships to further his music career through university. At the age of fifteen, he decided to make an Instagram and Tiktok account focused on his journey through songwriting, playing different instruments, and doing live streams to talk and play for his followers. For the past few years, he has gained a following and reached up to almost 15K between the two platforms.
Though, he started to take a route that his ancestors had. The Dotson, primarily the men, was known for getting in trouble, becoming drunks after 21, and quickly getting into bad crowds. Marcus's parents told him that he was becoming like his uncles and cousin Micah. That he needed to be more like his own father and stay on a good path, but he wasn't going to listen to his parents.
This caused his parents to send him back to Sanctuary to live with his cousin Micah and see what happens after you 'fail' in life. They want to scare the teenager into not going down a route since he doesn't want to go to university anymore, and he has been seen too many times in the streets and started to get into fights with other kids at school. They hope that Ruben can straighten Marcus out and get him a job since the young man won't listen to them.
He is considered a troublemaker and a nuisance at home. This upbringing has caused Marcus to have a rowdy and unhealthy behavior with most adults (maybe an authority issue, a bit one could say?)
Name Louis "Lou" Dotson
Birthday January 13th, 2010
Age 10
Occupation Being a child.
Short Bio Louis "Lou" Dotson is officially the youngest member of the Dotson family. He tends to be a quiet kid and skeptical about new people. This behavior could have formed from being raised in a big city and having extremely busy parents that had no time for him or his brother. This caused the youngster to listen to music, especially his brother's homemade productions.
They were forcing Marcus to go to Sanctuary to get away from the city life; they decided to offload Lou onto his cousin Micah as well. Their parents were beginning to think Lou might have mental issues or development issues since he doesn't talk or care to socialize. He will sit there for hours listening to music - In reality, this behavior is because both parents don't give him enough attention. [This will be shown through healthy development living with someone who pays attention, aka their grandparents and/or Micah, hopefully]
Misc. Tubby
There are four 'Tubby's' for all different occasions. The two bigger ones tend to stay around the house and inside while the smallest one is his travel buddy that he carries everywhere.
I will definitely keep to that idea for now. I'm thinking my character will most likely be in the early thirties, max 32 years old. They would have a history (maybe not a lot) depending on the age gap but it being a small town, I would assume they would know each other especially if she had older brothers or something. I'm going to say, he probably moved around the age of 13-15. Early teen years moving to a big city, what could go wrong? haha.
I might start throwing a basic anatomy for this character together, so I can jot down what he is going to be like more (which will help with future and past situations, such as having history with other characters.)
I like the vibes of both Fox Hole Tavern and Cozy bear Diner. Either way, if I can have my guy as a primary/head chef of anywhere in the charming little town, I think he will be fine character-wise (or even a notch below the main chef.) If he owns it, fantastic, but he definitely would work for someone else, especially if they have a good heart and no issues with him being grumpy sometimes or similar to Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen when people ask stupid questions/do silly things. Not in the way of exploding (maybe sometimes) but in the course of pure disappointment. Like he cannot believe what is going on and why.
I do not mind either idea, and I think maybe it might be even better or more exciting if he works for someone else. It definitely would help with character building and socialization.
I love character-driven plot ideas (even if it's just a slice of life). Count me interested. I already have a plan.
dramatically rolls a scroll of paper out Step one, character idea. points If you see here, I am thinking of a decent middle-aged guy (no older than mid-thirties) who may be a failure when it comes to big-city restaurants, but he is loved for his country/homemade cooking skills and has a little restaurant. He once was from the little town of Sanctuary but moved away at a young age. Ended up being a city kid, getting into trouble, and maybe has a bit of a record? No record that screams DANGER, but a history that he regrets building up at the ages of 17+. Somewhat religious? He doesn't go to church or prays much, but he does believe in a God above and sometimes speaks to the man/woman behind the scenes. I feel that he most likely choose to move back because of failure, a hard life in the city, and the enjoyment of memories this little town gives him. He doesn't have a wife, no kids, but he is humble and kind. Though, he loves to support needy families in the town of Sanctuary the best he can, but he barely can hold his small restaurant afloat because of the big corps moving in, so he gets salty when those topics come into play.
He's a homemade chef; most of his skills are not from school; he has an associate's degree in culinary because he dropped out of his bachelor's and moved back to his origins. Though, he has a bachelor's in business (which is the only thing holding his restaurant up beside the people who visit it.)
That's only an idea, though. Please don't quote me on it. Count me interested.
