Hamerlin had left the bridge with a cup of coffee, a sextant, a note book with a guide sheet, the older man was struggling to stay awake so he had another hot cup of coffee and chosen to take the sextant and a use the night sky to calibrate it. the cool night air was cold on his skin but welcome and the light breeze that was a cool constant. a new constant and unused to the effects of being some 2000 plus feet up. They where on course and he would fall asleep if he did not keep busy. Even the complex maths and so he had with 10 notes in 3 books and 5 sets of sums feeding into one where not ernough.

He sat down a large ammunition crate next to one of the machine gun mounts and sighed the north star before checking his rather bad handwritten notes of what it should be, his right hand mangled by shrapnel was not the best for fine work, but alas he was right handed. the notes where crude but accurate though and he breathed gently as he adjusted the settings with help of a small tool kit he found on the wall.

Watching the lands move below, he sipped on a steaming mug of coffee, the night sky this high up clearer than he had ever seen from the sea making his task an rather technical but satisfying task. The lights of the world glittered from the darkness.

His life had changed, his life was … unknown but for the first time in years the former Navy officer had a sense of adventure, daring and a much more simple sense of what he had to do. Part of him smiled and was glad, he was his old self more again.

He thought back as he worked slowly through each calibration, slowly and steady making tiny adjustments with the small tool kit lining everything up as well as the quality allowed. He was worried about people, friends and lovers but chaos erupted so fast, they barely had a chance to even react to events, guards were barely at their stations before the gun fire crippled all over the city. The 5th column, regular army had them on the backdoor reacting from the very start they had every advantage and exploited it without fail.

The handle of the sea knife as he took It to remove some dirt from slotted screws on the device was now stained a redish broken, the blood soaked Into worn wood from its lethal use.

He doubted it would be the last time they had to fight before they finished this chapter of the adventure. He would catch a dew naps and so overnight, he would take readings om regular rimes, the wind was meant to be steady, speed steady, so the course was unlikely to drift by more than a hand full of degrees at worst. Their was likely a cot near bridge he could catch a few winks of rest. He was not the same 18 year old, he needed some rest.

Sya was busy inspecting her buttons and adjusting her dress as she was preoccupied to notice Orion approach as she sang a soft tune in a borderland language, harsher and more like Ivor than she was her Auralian side, who most influenced her particular homeland. “Drømde mik en drøm i nat um
silki ok ærlik pæl”
She sang and Moved to the gentle sway of the rhythm of the song, lost In her own world for a time in a way only Sya broke…yet functional self could hop between things without even a single pause and swap back again. Ivor was probably one of the only ones who onew the language fully, she spoke a dialect that suppressed the thought that she was one of rare few left alive who knew that language now since the blight came and took the borders region under its grip.

Sya turned as she looked up with a large blue eye rested lower and blinked processing the moment before she was able to react fully, Sya knew work needed her but also a desire to head to snug and write in her journal about the day, to process her emotions about the day she did not understand fully that floated about her brain.

“Asssist… I'm … kinda drunk” She admitted and swayed more than normal as she tried to rise to her more normal height and lowered again, Sya was not sure how much wine she drank…but too much… yes. She Had Got Drunk in a Temple Hot spring crying her eye out and made two friends…. Kira was a good start at least. Maybe the goddess has helped her out, who knows…. Times were crazy, Sya had made a connection and would not give up on that.

“Yes, I called you a good egg.”Sya Said that like the statement was entirely normal and definitive, she had named him a good Egg, so she did not mind his company. “So you are, you may essscort me to the post Office and back to the Eye, i need to send Erissss a letter. Hopefully explain.. well me. I have the first Dawn Haven Business account! And 2 others.” Said with a serious noble Voice she managed failing harder than Ayel made friends with the local towns folk. She looped her much smaller arm around his and pulled herself up less steadily and used his balance to help her own. Sya despite her more reptilian lower body was still rather light and the smaller blight born woman found his muscle comforting. Her evident pride she had the first 01 Dawn Haven post office business account, the Eye had claimed it and it was hers. She was on the first page of the ledger.

“My tail can get hurt, so please be careful. i may have tripped over becky too.” She said as Sya moved off shakily leaving 8 to 10 or so feet S shapes in the mushy snow behind her, a genuine plea as she was unused to walking with someone like this in her changed form. truth Be told, she kinda liked it… Though unlike another village if she cuddled curled on his lap and went for a nap she would not find arms round her playing with her hair and making calming circles she enjoyed. They had made that a habit, it helped Sya sleep peacefully and she always felt safe in his arms, as they grew older their families just went along with what made them happy and they had been close long as anyone remembered.

It had been a slightly cool day. They sat in the grass wrapped in blankets, Sya half asleep. They had agreed to take over a small cottage near the stables, it was in need of repair but the old man had died and left it in disrepair and had been cleaning it out. She made soft sounds as she rested, they had named it “Farriers anvil” representing both of the families they came from and the trade they knew.

An old board lay in front of them, a rough sketch of a sigil they would make for the door, a combination to represent them and the home it would be mounted on. Her dad has already agreed to make it from some old iron that got rejected from a shipment for the castle.

Sya head turned lost in a old memory with a small tear running off her eye before she turned back to Orion, failing to hide the action. “Old memory, I did not have much but it wasss… enough to make me happy. Will we be happy again?“ Sya said with a concentration to hold her hiss on letter S in check. She mused in only a way that alcohol could cause,

“Let's go, Orion, il get you back to Prince before its your bedtime and return the Snakeness to her tower lair.” Sya said with a small giggle and mental shift as she moved with a slower pace and glided along almost silently with but a quiet swish and movement of snow audible at all.

For someone who had such changes Sya was managing, Her mind was far from healthy so it kind of worked.. her broken self was able to survive in ways her “fixed” self would have had a complete and utter breakdown. Sya tightened her grip a little as she held head up high, unwilling to let people have one more thing to use against her. She still swayed a little more than was safe but was using Orion to balance herself as her scales brushed against his leg when she slipped a little.

Daphne headed over at a fast walking pace and moved with speed towards the Prince's side with an easy gait, through her eyes narrowed as she looked upon Ayel and Prince talking together. Daphne just had a potential migraine at the idea of them having to try and work with this man, man being a generous term in Daphne's mental book that included a lot of very impolite words. “Aye, Your highness. I know the basics, we need to move while we still have something to follow. Lord Coswain, Lady Persephone and priestess might be at the Temple. We have to be careful not to attack our own if they investigated.” Daphne said as she realised that slow would just mean more lives lost or a threat lost about the outskirts of the town if it was a beast, blight or both.

Ayel however sent Daphne's mind into a very different place as violet eyes glared at him and gave a clear and distinct air of danger as she unlike airlines had no restrictions on being exhausted too quickly with magic, she had limits but they were very likely a lot more than his. Her voice dropped to a very quiet tone and barely raised her voice above a whisper as she stood.

She wanted to do a lot of things but her mind was stronger than her heart on the matter and she channeled her anger, frustrations and her brushed off attempt to chat someone up inwards to push her harder instead. Healthy…no… was it the right time to punch him in the gut and break his perfect nose. Alas no especially next to Prince. Her eyes however told exactly how she felt as she almost thought they would have glowed with how intense her feelings had got.

Her response was distracted away by the arrival of the tall sage, who was with Eris and danced with. She was visibly annoyed and glaring daggers at the nobleman with a spirit of angry 1000 Angry honey badgers, as she quietly seethed. “You” barely stuffed out of date sofa cushion. Then Daphne had a great idea.. as she cut off her rant as she was about to start, an evil plan…. Persephone would be proud of her.

“Oh I tried to be gentle and spare you, I'm just not into that…you wanted me to… wear a wig and dress like a peasant girl. you keep taking your anger out on me when you need to learn how to manage rejection dear. Im not even gonna try to understand the other . ... thing... step on you?” Daphne said softly and changed her tone to be subtle, quiet but audible. She gave Nathanial a wink and a grin as she turned filled with an expression to make most men want to flee to the nearest castle. (Aimed at Ayel)

“Agh, I'm afraid we are doing a different dance of blades this time, but I could always use a partner to watch my back.” Daphne said with a confident tone and much warmer than a positively soul shuddering sweetness she chose to employ before that. (Nate)

She was ready, Daphne kept one hand at ready on one weapon at all times, and she had her hair all done to avoid being grabbed, her fighting knife at back, twin blades and boot knife to name 4. She gave the Prince a look that she was entirely not sorry and kept a very close eye on lord Ayel of the house of migraines.

"This man, Valthyr, He might be able to help us as a scout. Its weird...but... Dawn Haven." Daphne just shrugged, what he said made no sense but if it worked... she would save those she was close to, weird be glad for.

Daphne shook her head to test her quick hair fix before she headed out door at speed following the man. “Adventure Awaits” She said as she left, giving the frame a tap as she passed jogging to keep up with the taller man's stride. He was really tall, Daphne was no short stack, but he made her have to look up and crane her neck a little. “Attack, blood, unknown enemy, 2 civs, what does the enemy look like Valthyr? And who am I looking for?" Daphne asked quickly as quietly as jogging to keep up with him, his feline comment just made her…get all confused.

“I'm living in a town where the Innkeeper slithers, walking mushrooms and more so i believe most things now.”
Daphne had to change her ideas of normal alot on Dawn Haven and what was something they had to tolerate and protect.

She looked about the square and the people about, Lord Coswain, Persephone? There were also others unknown and about the town that were in danger or unaccounted for. "Are we getting anyone else, We should tell the Prince, get help?” Daphne said and looked about the area outside the Inn. The Prince…and oh…Selene…no…it was the peacock… the peacock was back to cause issues again.

“That Man….” She growled, seriously why was it always that man?

The Moon Temple & Attack site

Coswain had an ongoing pressure in his head as he realised how far the situation had begun to move into utter chaos, he managed to Calm down as he looked round and tried to make the best of the worst. He noted Katherine moved over to his side and moved to block her and Ayel, standing between them and blocking his line of attack or harm. “So swords and claws, just great, one is bad enough, maybe both. We need to debrief him, but I need to be free to fight, we watch. We need all senses and swords until we are safer.” He said and yup, of course it was bad he replied quietly at a very low whisper, he agreed but he also did not see a way to arrest someone without causing more trouble than they had.

“He is going to get killed… rather him than me…” Lord Coswain sighed at Ayel, he was better off out their way.

He had her advice, The Princess was missing, he had an unknown threat, and he had a noble causing migraines, all at the same time. He had to act, they had to move, but he did not want to take this man near her, but he had to find her too, and defend Katherine. “Right, OK, We have multiple conflicting aims, so we will move to the camp, and try to locate the Princess as we move, if we do, we secure and move her. fl we find the enemy. We kill it, if we do not. We move there, get more guards, search for patterns. We accomplish both goals after.

Staying alive is what matters, they need to know what's going on.”
He looked at the young confused guard and he was a liability but they needed all eyes and ears they could also, he could just be affected by the attacker? He would have to keep a close eye on him. A cool calmness of command fell over the man, this was what he did. He had a plan, now he had to execute it.

“Come on, let's get moving. We are going to help the Princess lad, we just have to be smarter about this, This is far from my first tough situation.” He placed a hand on thr man's shoulder and gave it a squeeze.

“The Royal Guard stands no matter what.” He said, trying to get the man's confidence up and make him more effective.

Sya leaned into her own tail and moved her hand to feel thestiny layered scales at the end of her new limb, making soft chuckles. Her feet were ticklish and her tail was no different. The small things like that where genuinely strange, so alien yet so much was the same.

Maybe she was a little too forward as Kira Left, she waved her hand and the end of tail in the water copied her action, a cute display that seemed to be … coded? Into her mind. “Stay safe, have a good … day night. You both welcome under my roof.” Sya said and reminded them, blightborn had a rough life so she tried to be genuine and supportive, in her own ways, she tried to help. Sya gave a little flush as she watched Kira leave and well.. she was an attractive woman, a loner but Sya was… She just did not care, she would be judged anyway. Why not have fun in the meantime.

Sya turned to face Orion when he spoke, she was thinking and mind wandered to Eris, her friend… she hoped she was a friend turning her head and large blue eye looked at Orion, watching him phase into thermal and out of it as she found the odd… instinct.. understanding her new abilities.

“I…” Sya stuttered and looked unsure, her eye did not hide her emotions. “I probably should go back. I have to face it, I cannot run away.” Sya said with a evident deeper worry, the conflict, the hurt and everything had cut deeper into the heart of Sya than people believed she had.

“I should take over from Vala and Becky, they are too much like me… Thank You, you're a good egg, and I hope you're not a stranger Orion. It was nice to talk to you two and relax. Kiara will come around to me im sure." Sya laugh was genuine though and Sya could not hide her genuine response. Her body shifted as she rose shakily, off balance but she rose pushing off into the water with graceful flowing wake before she reached her clothes.

The alcohol had definitely hit her as she rested lower on her tail for balance, tieing her Auralian style dress clumsily on the side. Sya had her body resting against a wall slightly as she found the small buttons trying to attach them again and finding her fingers took a few before she could.

an impulsive thought hit her as she tried to put one arm into her blue coat and neatly swayed over before she caught herself and found balance again. Eris was on the other side of town but the post office, she had an account of sorts with them, Sya could pay it off later. “Oops…" she said laughing as she realised how much she had drunk as she was struggling to buckle the leather strap to her long bladed knife she wore for protection.

Sya was definitely tipsy, the Lamia was not sober, especially as her mind wandered to wondering if Kira had realised Sya had kind of adopted her into circle of those she valued, why the buckle was so tough to link, why she should buy more pillows and also she wondered why cats like boxes? All in under a minute.

Daphne

Eye of the Beholder

Amazon Action time.

Daphne was watching lightly and resting against a column wondering if she should do a walk about the outside of the Inn and check on people outside, things had calmed down abit and only took a few smaller corrections to keep things lively but not the wrong side of rowdy.

When the man approached her she drew herself to her full height and stood up straighter, more alert and had a sense…a feeling something might be wrong in her heart and head. He had no shoes on, was a man, though she could not quite place him in some ways, he was strange and gave her a curiosity. “What's going on, and where do we need to go?” Daphne said with an quick reaction to the events, she checked her hands to the twin swords resting on her hip, knife to her back and felt the weapon hidden in her boot and elsewhere.. a woman could not be too careful…

Quick hands reached up and tied her dark hair into a loose updo, out of the way and more for business. “So, explain, I'm Daphne, I'm part of Lord and Lady Coswains household. What is to be done? I can handle myself. Cadia teaches you that.” She asked more formally and waited for a reply.

Her thoughts shifted to all the potential outcomes that made her want to rest a hand on a weapon, but she resisted and held her nerve and held her ground mentally, she was not the scared girl who lost her mother, more a awkward teanager who was prone to fall and trip, she was Squire Daphne and she could do this.

Looking at the door, she had a little time while he explained to stay warmer, Lunarian or not, it was cold and hardly welcoming. They were just more used to it.

Lord and lady Coswain

The Moon Temple & Attack site

Adonis Coswain slowed his pace and raised his guard at the dark scene, a bloody figure, a head, but this one wore the armour and uniform of the guard, the face however was one he had not met yet, having arrived just before the blizzard.

A fool would drop their Guard and he had not lived this long being a fool, he paused and looked over the figure again with a careful look and chose his words. “Lord Castellan Coswain, You're the one with bloody hands, I came at the screams, what do you know, what's your name soldier?” He was not cruel but he was commanding as he tried to get the man to not break down, to give him information, make him follow orders, react instead of panic.

“Come on lad, I know your shock, but we need to act and protect the town… Help me lad, help is out.” He said more gently, he had to not break his only source of information. Keeping him from a breakdown would be a priority for the situation, he could fail later, he had to carry on for now.

He glanced around keeping his head on a swivel, keeping his ears open and everything open to potential threats to himself and others. They really needed to build a palisade or so round the whole town. The ground would probably be too hard to dig and laying down heavy construction in the deepest winter was dangerous.

“Be careful, priestess, we do not..” His word was cut off as she came up fearlessly and moved over to the man with a gentle nature but utter confidence, he was sure Persephone was safe and protected at the Temple, she was an genuine beliver of Selene, surely Selene would protect her hour of need, he just had to hope and trust. “We are not in a safe zone, keep your eyes open. I strongly suggest we head to the commanders, and get more guards and protect the civilians. Plus id rather you be alive and well for my wedding.” Adonis said warily as of course…of course the one man he did not need to deal with right now blundered into it and decided to make this into a flustercuck of monumental proportions. He said more lightly to the end, he liked this priestess for some reason, and he would not see her hurt if he could help it.

His temper and desire to take the man's head right here and now grew, and grew. He was right now in a combat zone against an unknown foe, Alone, short of reinforcements and needing to get this dealt with instead of dealing with this pompus peacock. “Lord Ayel Raunefeldt, we have an unknown enemy, I have just arrived upon the scene, I shall not disarm myself on the battlefield.” He said with a drill Knights level of how stupid you can get when faced with an idiot of celestial size and magnitude.

He sighed with a deep sigh trying to not break his pompous face with a heavy right hook. "You're a Civilian, This is a Guard matter, this is no time for foolery.. people have died.” He spoke grimly and slowly pronouncing Each word that meant he was trying to keep his mind.

“Lives are in danger, our problems…can wait.” He grumbled mentally saying you over stuffed shit stains in a silken sack, piled higher than a dumb ass recruit with a ladder.

“I really do not have time, drop the act, the most blood you see is probably in a rare steak. We get you to the guard camp, you can wait it out.” He kept his guard and eyes about, he really didn't have time for this.
