Current No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.

Arguing over petty details at times of dimensional emergency was a familiar wizardly trait.

A wizard never had friends, at least not friends who were wizards. It needed a different word. Ah yes, that was it. Enemies. But a very different class of enemies. Gentlemen.

I'm just afraid the game will stagnate in political discussion if we don't limit time somehow. It's happened a lot before to these kinds of games.
What if each season took a week? That'd give people a month of IRL time to complete a year in game. And maybe more actions. Is 7 actions too many?

And, that canal would be going through a super hilly area...

Through the mountains, as it were... but maybe there's a pass or something it could be dug through.

As for the passage of time in-game, I haven't figured that out yet.

An idea would be to play the game in seasons; each player has, say, three actions per season (troop movement, delegations to other nations, construction, etc). The seasons will be played in three IRL day intervals. Didn't use your actions of the season? Your loss. Or something like that. What do you think?

Is the map only completed NSs?

Yesh.
@Lord Coake: That sounds just dandy :) Consider yourself allied!

@AegonVI: Sweet! And to answer your question: The Empire, spanning over so much land and people, became unstable as it struggled to keep all the different peoples and cultures in check. Conflicts over religion, government, speech, customs, taxes... In the end, when a few dissident provinces suddenly became many, the Empire could no longer sustain itself and collapsed. Is that an acceptable answer?
I'm going to accept Cryos. It covers a large area and has a huge population, but a very small army (in comparison to it's size). An idea would be to throw some kind of injustice in there (a million people don't all get along, there should be some kind of injustice or conflict going on). I am however reserving that canal for Rare, since he claimed it first.

Kant also looks good.
@Fallen Muse & TheSovereignGrave:

First about the rarity of magic - we don't have elves and we don't have numenoreans (who aren't really humans with their longevity and shit). Even if you count all of those other fellows you just brought up, how big a percentage of the entire population of their respective countries do they represent? I want mages to be unique and legendary (I must've written it several times by now), not uncommon and boring like in ES or its likes. I don't see the problem with conforming to this.

Second about the magic vs tech idea: I've never stated that a nation can't have both magic and tech. The cardinal rule was more tech = less other stuff.

Maybe we should restrict population size to technological development? Renaissance era = small nation, medieval era = medium nation, ancient era = large nation. Is that a viable idea?
@Batarian Batman & TheSovereignGrave: The OP states that magic is rare (as in Gandalf-rare), and that technology can range from stone age to renaissance era stuff.

Is this rp still open for new nations?

Absolutely.
As it stands right now, we could go north over Avalaysia if need be. We've both got desert peoples, we can handle a little caravaning :)
