Got my new sci-fi mecha RP up. Put a lot of work into the background of this one, and wrote out a whole setting

Cambozola is definitely A-Tier. It combines all the best parts of Brie with Blue Cheese, what's not to like.

Guess the mecha RP idea wasn't as popular or as interesting as I hoped it might be. Not much in the way of bites on that one so far, sadly

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

As the F-2 closed up into formation, Scott waggled his wings in greeting and acknowledgement. He trimmed the A-10's course slightly settling into a close formation with the new arrival.
"Roger that," he replied at her question. "Those folks down there are well overdue for our help; best get there quick as we can. We oughta split up; what say you handle the air targets and I harass the ground-pounders? Keep 'em off my back and I'll make sure you don't take any hits from below".
Corona's voice chimed in, the AWAC controllers' voice calm and reserved as ever. "Good job linking up. I'm designating you as Storm Flight; Heartbreak, You're Storm 1, Ericsson, Storm 2. Stay on course to hit the target area; I'm reading three enemy fast-movers, and two heavies in the air; radar's having problems picking out ground targets, but what I could get on the radio from friendlies indicates three units of infantry supported by medium walkers. Ground forces will mark their positions with IR strobes".
"Roger that," he answered, his voice becoming more clipped and terse. "Ericcsson, let's go; I'll back you up as much as I can on the air targets, but I'll concentrate on the ground threat. Break and engage!"

The snow flurries had grown to a steady snowfall, dropping visibility. Scott switched his targeting systems, the SNIPER targeting pod under the A-10's wing coming to life. The FLIR sensor built into the pod lit the view up into shades of thermal grey; almost immediately he saw the blinking flashes of the allied forces' strobes, and the thermal spots of the enemies' engines, weapons, and exhausts. Streaming flashes crossed the area as fire was exchanged, and flitting traces ghosted through the air as the hostile aircraft cris-crossed the area; even as he watched, they reformed and began diving toward he and Ericcsson's incoming jets.
"Moving in to engage," Scott announced over the radio, adjusting the A-10's throttle and dropping altitude. He nudged the stick and rudders, the ungainly A-10 moving swiftly onto course at its' preferred low altitude. He thumbed the controller for the SNIPER-XR pod, and bracketed up the nearest spider-like walker that was sending streams of firepower toward the nearby cluster of friendly blinking lights. He jinked and waved the A-10 as it dropped lower, engine howling in the thick air and rearing the jet into a high, banking turn. At its' apex, he thumbed the weapon release, and two Paveways dropped from the wings of the A-10, fins springing open as they glided toward the target. A bank in the opposite direction threw off any anti-aircraft fire, and a spread of chaff and flares dissuaded the insistent blare of the radar warning receiver.
"Bombs away," Scott growled over the radio, circling at low altitude. "How's it going up there?"
Got my post up, had a lot of fun writing it. Exciting start to things!
I can already see some of the differences to the canon coming through; we get FAST packs at the beginning rather than later through the SDF-1's journey back. Also they work in atmosphere, I'm guessing.
I assume that at this point the ship has no attached ARMD cruisers or aircraft carriers, so we'll be launching from a bay instead as well?
Ryan listened in to the developing conversation, and sprang off of the box he was seated on when the voice of the commander started to ring through the hangar. He peered up at the distant figure, glancing aside at his new comrades a moment as he listened in.
Mars... it was a long way from anywhere he'd flown before, that was for sure. And space was about as out of his element as he could get, as a former A-10 pilot. He'd had more than a few training flights to get used to the idea though, but it still boggled his mind; going from moving mud to... well. There wasn't exactly a space-based equivalent of close air support and interdiction. Though, maybe Mars would have some similarities. Red dirt was still dirt, as far as he was concerned. A shiver of excitement rose through his chest, and he turned to murmur to the pilot nearest to him to share his thoughts, and get theirs- before the rising alarm cut him off, and the situation shifted abruptly.

The next moments were a blur; within minutes he was in his flight suit and survival gear, buckling a helmet strap under his chin and checking suit seals as the bay had become a blur of activity; loaders hurried past with trailers of missiles or other ordnance and supplies, flight crews waved tow vehicles in complicated dances through the bay to the launch bays, and pilots ran to and fro to their waiting craft.
Ryan jogged to his waiting VF-1, the sleek fighter marred by the bulky augment packs on the dorsal surface. Unlike his CO's ship, his had the bulbous and intimidating quad-barrels of particle beams jutting over the cockpit. No bombs today, he thought as he made a quick visual inspection. As always, the plane looked pristine - or, as pristine as any active war machine, at least.
His crew chief nodded, giving him a tight and reserved smile. "Don't break my plane, Goldman," the older woman said with a gruff tone, and a jerk toward the shark-mouthed red VF. "...and kick the crap out of whoever it is interrupted our big showoff today".
"Sure thing, Chippy," he acknowledged to the short-haired brunette as he climbed up the ladder and swung into the seat. She stepped up and helped him strap in, and attach his hoses, before slapping the side of the cockpit. "And it's my plane, not yours," he quipped back with a thumbs up. She rolled her eyes, but gave a short smirk as she returned it as the canopy came down. "I just let you borrow it!" she yelled over the sound of rising engine noise.
His machines' engines started, the grumbling vaccum-cleaner whine rising to a higher note as he flicked switches and ran a rapid preflight check. He touched one hand to the side of his helmet as McKnight's voice came through, replying in his own calm tone.
"Vapour, this is Lawnmower. Looking good here, over".
No worries, look forward to seeing it :)
He sounds perfectly fine to me - feel free to put him into the characters tab :)
Thanks for the compliments Blade. Don't worry it's not dependent at all and requires no prior knowledge on Hunger Games. Just more the aspect of how entertainment at the expense of others and its morality. Also the sharp divide between the classes of anthros. Something along those lines.

That being said now I may be spending more time focusing on your RP xP

I figured it wasn't especially dependent on knowing those things; I get the jist of it, and as I said - it's a pretty familiar plot, and a good one to go to for all sorts of reasons. It has a lot of potential to be good! All sorts of ways to take it, and different character motivations to get from it too.

And haha, you flatter me xD I'd still like to see your RP too - it's different in execution from mine, and I'm sure a lot of these good people might not be as interested in my idea, and would like their own anthro RP to play in too.
I watched the show when it first aired and was pretty into it, and then caught it again on reruns on the Disney Channel, in order, and in full - that got me way more into it, especially with the Internet helping. It's been on my radar since then, as an example of excellent storytelling in a show, and one that didn't dumb down it's content because it was animation.
I re-watched it a couple of years ago with my now-fiance and it still stood up excellently.

I am kind of familiar with the extended canon ideas - things like the unmade spinoffs, and the ideas Greg Weisman had for where the show might have gone if it had continued - and I read a few of the comics too (before they were also cancelled >.<), and I've even read a little fanfic here and there.

Sounds good to me, I'm excited to have you back in the gang :D
@Silverwind Blade
I think I am done?

Yeah, I Ryan is good to go. Couple of minor formatting and spelling errors, but you can correct those putting him into the characters tab. I'll add him to the roster once he's in there too. He'll get a starting rank of Lieutenant as well.

My own character is up in the character tab as well.

Hope we get a few more people - slightly worried about how quiet things are D: I thought there might be a bit more interest.
Name: Diane Trenton

Callsign: Trench

Age: 35

Species: Bovine

Appearance:

(plz ignore name and text. All credit to artist on FurAffinity. Warning for no clothes, but nothing shown)

Has a faded, crescent-shaped scar running from just above her left hip in an arc down to below her navel.
When not in uniform, wears practical yet stylish clothing; jeans, sneakers or boots, checked shirts, T-shirts and such.

She is 6' 8" tall, and surprisingly strong for her build.

Bio:
Diane - or Di, to her friends - is a lively, outgoing and friendly sort. She cares greatly for others, and is an honorable, trusting, and loyal person. She has a strong set of morals and rules she follows both in and out of combat, and strives to do well by others and expects the same in return. She gives other the benefit of the doubt and trust, but will be relentless and devastating if crossed, and to those she sees abusing their own positions of power and responsibility, or preying on the helpless and innocent.

Despite this caring and compassionate nature, she is not naive nor ignorant; she is firmly aware that hard choices have to be made, and something circumstances and life do not allow the best outcomes every time, and the best must be made of a situation - even if you have to do awful things to help others.
Knowing these choices come up, and the hardships that she and her pilots must face (especially with her own personal life and history as part of the equation), she tries to do the best to care for and look after her people, lending somewhat to her reputation as 'team mom'.

Despite her large size and build, she is nonetheless physically fit, strong, and more than able to do her job to the exceptional degree she does.
She has a confident, and occasionally cocky, forward approach with most people and can be quite flirty on occasion. She has an outgoing, cheerful and even occasionally brash personality, and loves to socialize, especially drinking, and eating out with her friends and comrades. She can be the life and soul of a party, and loves to throw a party as much as going to one. However, this outgoing and boisterous personality hides her doubts, worries and fears and some of the painful memories of her past. She is a good listener and loves to support others, but will often be somewhat reluctant and hesitant with revealing details about her own past and background.

She keeps in regular contact with her parents, who are very proactive, supportive and encouraging of her career, and like to stay involved in her life... for better or worse. She loves them, but sometimes feels they are a bit... much.

Service Record:
Diane enlisted into DefCom out of college. She graduated with high marks, and entered the GEAR pilots' program immediately. She struggled with some aspects, and chafed against discipline. Struggling, she eventually found her place and role, and proved herself to be a model pilot.
She received recognition and was awarded medals for valour and conspicuous gallantry for putting herself into the line of fire to save civilians trapped in a hostile area during a border skirmish, and rescuing fallen comrades.

Following this, she was promoted and worked extensively with an air assault unit, and as a forward combat controller, and served with DefCom's Special Forces for a four-year period.
Opting for further flight training and moving more into the area of testing and evaluation, she was transferred to the classified 'Nightwerx' R&D Facility in the Nightshade Mountains, where she assisted in the development of the V-GEAR's combat tactics, and the organization of the SOCT units, as well as several exchange duties with front-line fighter units. She also underwent additional training in aerospace operations.
As the first VG-0 and SOCT units came into service, she applied for a lead position in a combat unit, and received the post as head of the Black Knights, a role she is proud to have, but harbors some anxiety about.

V-GEAR assignment: VG-0S

V-GEAR Distinguishing features: Two-tone dark/light grey colour scheme with black vertical tails. Helmet has a checkered red-and-black pattern on the peak.

Personal Theme: Infinity
