Current TBH, I'm not surprised an Int Check got taken down. Some of the 1x1 checks I've seen are basically straight-up looking for ERP and Typef*cking almost shamelessly

Ah, I see the bots are back again with their nonsense posting.

Got my new sci-fi mecha RP up. Put a lot of work into the background of this one, and wrote out a whole setting

Cambozola is definitely A-Tier. It combines all the best parts of Brie with Blue Cheese, what's not to like.

Guess the mecha RP idea wasn't as popular or as interesting as I hoped it might be. Not much in the way of bites on that one so far, sadly

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

Hanging in the airless void above a green-blue world sheathed in cotton-wool clouds, the silvery-grey wheel of Confederation station Hoyland Station spun lazily and patiently. Miles across, the steadily spinning structure had almost spidery protrusions all around it's circumference; antennae, docking arms and pylons, heat radiators, solar panels and all manner of other devices. Amongst them, light reflected off of the hulls and hides of spacecraft, mecha, and people in spacesuits industriously working at all manner of tasks to support the gigantic structure and the hundreds of thousands of souls within its' protective embrace.

Nestled alongside one of the many docking arms, the angular yet sleek shape of a modern military vessel with a dark-painted hull sat ready, taking on supplies, equipment, and most importantly; crew. Spirit of Adventure was making ready for her first operational cruise, departing in a few short hours as the home ship for a new unit of the Confederation Ranger Corps, arriving to take their place

On the bridge of the ship, it's commanding officer stared out at the tapestry of movement. He raised a mug to his smooth, sleek-skinned lips as he watched, keen eyes following movement.
"Excuse me; Captain Gavren? The rangers and their mecha should be arriving shortly. And we're done with loading supplies. Stowing them is underway. All crew have arrived, and their berths assigned".
"Thank you, Commander Holden. I think I'll make my way down to the hangar bay to meet our pilots and their machines. From what I've seen in their records, it looks like we're going to be receiving quite an eclectic bunch". His lips curled in an amused smile at the thought. Eclectic was something of an understatement; the group due to arrive were absolutely a varied bunch, with all sorts of backgrounds and from almost all the races the Confederation was home to - and a few more besides.
A movement caught his eye, and the cetanui turned back to the viewport. A sleek, arrowhead-like shape slashed through space, propelled by the glow of blue engine exhausts.
"And here comes the first of them now," he said, as his eyes followed the shape of the variable fighter.

Aboard the sleek, jet-like shape of the transforming fighter, Lorei admired the angular, purposeful shape of the Spirit, it reminded her of some sleek, aquatic predator with its' blunt snout-like prow and dark colours. A handful of running lights illuminated it, as well as the glow of lights from within the open bays along its' flanks.
The synth didn't have a heartbeat that quickened, but she still felt and still had thoughts and reactions that were equivalent. Anticipation surged through her body, and her artificial muscles tensed. Her long tail twitched at the tip, and a surge of energy sung through her bodies' network of nerve-like fibers and conduits.
She'd read through and studied the profiles and dossiers of who she was to be working with; there was a broad mix of people, species, and attitudes to navigate. Partly she was worried, how would she relate? Would they be compatible? But she was equally excited; new people to meet and understand, new friendships to build, and new things to learn.
She wasn't a young woman, nor one lacking in experience of people and life in general. But this sensation never really went away, especially when coming to a new place, a new role, and a new direction in life.
Although, at least she had some familiar comforts. The space for the back seat in her VF-0 was packed with her belongings; personal effects and items she'd dragged with her from place to place, memories in physical form.
And then there was the VF-0 itself. It held an emotional resonance for her, the mecha keeping alive a memory and connection to her old instructor and mentor.
She lazily and indulgently rolled the fighter-mode machine as she pulled away from the sleek ship to line up for an approach to the bay, hitting the controls to shift mode to the bird-like 'GERWALK' mode, perfectly suited for a landing in the mecha bays of the ship. The foot-thrusters braked and slowed her approach as the glow of lights in the bay loomed large.
"And here we go," she said to herself in her lilting, musically feminine voice that had a slight flanging, mechanical undertone to it.
"Time for a new chapter"
Scott couldn't help but grin at Fuka's wry smile, especially given Myk's more formal reply. It just made the whole thing that much more amusing.
"Ah, too bad", he replied with a put-on sigh, still leaning on the back of the bench between the pair and giving an amused glance over the top of his shades, a glimmer of amusement dancing in his mis-matched eyes. "Going on a date with an older woman, you'd definitely end up with a lot of life experience afterward, that's for sure. But I respect your balls for asking," he said with a chuckle, before nodding to Fuka, his grin a close match for her smirk. Mykhailo changed track, asking him a question about his past, and Scott faltered, caught by surprise by the sudden shift, before he relaxed into a shrug.
"Honestly... ever since I was a little kid, I always wanted to fly. I think I had a more romanticised, idealistic view of flying as a kid. I mean, who doesn't think about things that way when they're young? But," he shook his head and smiled, shrugging again. "The obsession never went away. Even now, I still love strapping myself onto a plane and getting up there. Nothing quite like it".
He stood up from the back of the bench, and nodded in the direction of the hangars and the adjacent buildings.
"And speaking of which, I'm heading to the equipment room; time to get ready to fly. Can't imagine you'll be too far behind me"
He nodded to them both and headed in the direction of the building to suit up for flight.

Meanwhile, at the hangar, Kat nodded back at Freyja as she greeted her.
"That's right;" she answered, struggling to speak up in her raspy voice. "I'm looking forward to working alongside you too. Both of you," she added, nodding to Stingray as well. "Although, you're right," she said, giving an amused smile to Scandinavian, offering her own hand to shake as well. "From what I've seen so far of the others, interesting definitely seems like it'll cover it well".

A few moments later, a crew bus pulled up and Scott disembarked, carrying his helmet bag, a travel bag of his personal gear, and clad in his flight suit, G-suit and survival vest, much like Kat when she'd arrived too. Seeing her and Ayvee with Freyja, he crossed over to greet the new pilot.
"Lieutenant Svensdotter," he said with a smile. "I'm glad you arrived before we took off - although, sorry to get you back up in the air so quickly. I'll make sure you're first on crew rest as soon as we get to Malta though; you'll need it by then. I'm looking forward to working with you as well," he said, holding out a hand to shake, before nodding to Kat and Ayvee as well.
"That said, I guess we ought to get busy; it's about that time"
He headed over to the Tomcat, stuffing his bag into the baggage pod along with Kat's, and fastening the access door. They did a walkaround of the jet with the maintenance chief, discussing a few things, before both climbed aboard and strapped in. The sound of the hangar was drowned out as APU's started, the shrill whine building as the starter unit fed enough power to the Super Tomcat to get one engine started, that in turn started the other.
Chocks were removed along with intake covers. Access and maintenance hatches closed and hoses and feeds disconnected as Scott and Kat ran through their preflight checks. Finally, the Super Tomcat's engines wound up to speed with the characteristic whine, that built to a howl, and then a rumble. Scott buckled his mask into place as the chief pulled the ladder away from the plane, and with a gentle push of his left hand, Scott fed the engines power and the jet began to taxi for the runway.
"Good afternoon, Cobalt Haze squadron, this is Cobalt Lead. Weather is looking fine for our departure, so if you wouldn't mind following me to the runway at your convenience. I'll be first off and orbit at ten thousand feet for you to form up on me, and then we'll depart in a leisurely Eastward direction to head for our rendezvous with the tanker and our transports somewhat west of the Azores, as per your flight plans".
His tone was informal and relatively breezy as he spoke, and his eyes moved between his instrument panel and the outside of the jet with a practiced ease, including a glance or two at the mirrors to meet Kat's eye as she raised an eyebrow and shook her head in amusement from the rear seat.
The F-14 turned onto the last taxiway and held there, waiting for the final checks with the tower and by a maintenance chief in a pickup truck, giving a visual final-final check as Scott waited for the others to follow suit.
@Kensai, @Expendable, @ODAberration - Your characters are all approved, please feel free to post them in the Characters tab, and I'll add them to the roster

I'll likely get a beginning post up in the IC in the next couple of days
Decided not to join due to partial burnout.

That's a shame, but I get it; burnout is real. Take your time to relax.

As it is, we have 6 completed and approved characters (including mine), which is at least the minimum. I know some of you have WIP's, but I'll start thinking about how to start the IC and potentially get an introductory post up over the weekend.

I was thinking of having the beginning being everyone reporting to the ship as it's about to set off. We'll all be aware of one another from shared records and information, and what we're supposed to be doing here - i.e. joining the Ranger Corps as a new crew - but not of our specific mission as yet.
@Rhona W

Gonna bow out of this RP, because i don't think i will be able to complete my character sheet. I wish you the best on your RP.

That's a shame, but fair enough. And thank you!

Well, with someone dropping out, if you decide there's still room I might try to write up a sheet for this. Not the biggest sci-fi person but I figure it's worth at least making a cs for this if there's a spot open.

Yeah, you're welcome to join us if you're interested
<Snipped quote by Rhona W>

I just wrote down ideas on my notepad and format them on my computer when I got home. It is just a bunch of bullet points and half written paragraphs on my phone, lol

the silly part was I would email my notes to myself so I could copy and paste them

Honestly, I've done similar things before myself, emailed myself stuff from work to home, or from my phone to my computer...!
I am just going over it to look for spelling mistakes because I did most of the sheet on mobile, then I will transfer it over

Damn, considering you did it on mobile, that's a hell of an achievement!
Oh, my duh - also, @The Man Emperor, your character and mecha are also approved, please feel free to add them to the characters tab too
Good morning, everyone!

A few updates - first of all, all of the new races you've all been very creative with have been added to the One Note doc with whatever you've posted about them so far. Thank you all for being so creative and adding new and cool stuff! <3

I've noted that a couple of you have put force fields and plasma weapons as part of your mecha loadouts - I hadn't originally intended them to be part of the tech in the setting, but since they're popular, and I was dithering about them myself, I'll go back and add them to the tech part of the background as well.

Finally -

@Jinxlynx, Your character is approved, please feel free to add them to the characters tab, and I'll also put them into the roster

@AvaP, Pending her mecha, your character is also approved!
I think I have room for maybe 2-3 more characters at most, and that'll probably be about my upper limit for the number of people I'd want to manage. So if anyone is on the sidelines and hesitating, now's the time to jump in
