Amelia smiled to Riley and nodded at her comment and suggestion that they should speak about the important stuff later when they are in their room alone again. Following the surprise chemical warefare deployed by the tiny survivor, to Amelia there didn't seem to be much of anything special happening before the Major woman called for them that it was time to get back to the rooms and call it a night. Amelia was a little bit confused at first, but then realized that time must have slipped a lot faster than she had expected it to. In a blink of an eye it was already time to go to bed and tomorrow it was going to be the big scary day." Guess it's time to head back to the room." She said softly to Riley and threw her a glance, waiting for a moment, before standing up and slowly heading towards the room, making sure to not separate from her lover too much. This was great for her, especially since she wanted to return to the room for a little while now.
As they got to the room, she changed into what she was going to sleep with and just laid down on the bed without moving for a moment. She was tired both physically and mentally to a degree. While it wasn't the most stressful or the most filled with surprises days of her life, it still carried a lot of punch, especially with all the more negative experiences resurfacing. She closed her eyes for a moment and sighed. Then there was the fact about the big day tomorrow. Hell she felt like it was the first day of highschool all over again, only like 50 times worse.
Finally she gave Riley a good night kiss and then laid back down on the bed, relaxing, looking at her lover with a content smile." Good night, Riley." They were going to be fine... they had to be fine. She was going to be happy as long Riley was alive and well though, no matter what her own situation was. With those thoughts in mind she drifted off to sleep. Long day it had been and by the sounds of it tomorro was going to be even longer.
"Hmmm? Above? Yes... ehh..." Mosi made a sound of confusion, following by a sudden realization as her head tilted backwards and she looked up at the sky. She continued to look at it for a good few moments, incapable of saying out anything as she blinked and looked down again, moving one hand to cover her face as she sighed heavily." Sorry." She apologized, before relaxing the hand down again and looked at the doctor." Guess I must be more tired and affected by this than I suspected. For a moment there I got confused that we were down on the open air launge instead up here." She mumbled out and closed her eyes in slight embarrassement. Maybe for the moment she should be thinking things through a lot more before she spoke out, least something like this happened again." Yes... ahm... awkward..." She cought slightly." Room's on the Second deck..." Mosi said the location properly this time somewhat pretending she didn't fail in quite a sectacular way just a moment earlier.
As the man explained his preference for gas over supernatural about the current state of events, Mosi couldn't help it and nodded at his arguments. He did make sense, after all, what you knew was less scary than what you didn't. Fear of the unknown and all that, the all manner of ghosties, ghoulies and long leggedy beasties that were fumbling around in the darkness were the stuff of nightamres, that they were all fed up form the moment they were born. 'Be good or *add scary monster name here* will come take you at night.' She just sighed slightly at the thought of it. Recalling all hte times her parents were trying to scare her into doing their bidding while growing up or trying to get her to turn out the way they wanted.
"That is true, but..." Mosi began saying as she looked at hte man in the eyes." The possibilities lie in the unknown, you know." The woman stated somewhat resolutely." What you call medicine now, once upon a time would have been seen as magic to the people. Who knows what other wonders are hiding out there, waiting to be discovered." She looked the parts of herself that she could, finding no more stingers. The feeling was absolutely divine.
"Thank you, doctor." She finally thanked the man from the bottom of her soul." Had it been not for you, who knows what might have happened." Mosi stated and took a really long deep breath of relief." Will also thank the captain properly later for helping me out, despite the fact I lost my ticket." She promised and looked at hte doctor." I'm in your debt for this, if you ever need help about something, I will surely try to help you out to the best of my abilities!"
Alright, Rave was more or less sensing that the comments at her were qutie hostile at this point. She frowned in the darkness and felt a little bit offended at the suggestions that she was just sitting around and not doing anything, basically just because and asking stupid questions. She didn't think those were stupid questions, acting without thinking was always a bad plan and she had a valid reasons not to be out there trying to play the rogue and break through doors or try to break furniture in complete darkness. She grid her teeth as she put some weight on her leg, only to feel the pain stab at her.
"Look, I'm not against getting out of the room." Rave stated and sighed." But just getting out of the room doesn't solve anything, does it? Once out it's going to be a lot of danger, we should decide what we are going to do while we are in the process of going out of the room." Rave explained her reasoning." As for why I'm standing around, it's because I can't really help with anything physical right now. I can't really put weight into a freshly stabbed leg and me wobbling around and bumping into someone seems like the least helpful thing." She added an additional explanation. She was starting to dislike these people more and more. Some more so than others, but to her mind they either didn't care for the consequences of their action, or were acting out on their own plans with little regard for the rest.
Still she thought about it a little as Penance asked Blush about the lock. Still somewhat displeased about being blamed for nothing she decided she might as well try to help as much as she could, given her situation." Look, if you need something for the lock, I've got my knife with me. It might be sturdy enough to help you pry a lock on a door. Will that help you?" Rave asked in the darkness.
"Ah!" Vala suddenly jolted to a sitting position from as she woke up from her nightmares. She was breathing heavily as she regained her bearings and looked around her room. It was the same as she had left it when she went to sleep. The door was still secured tightly by a magnetic lock she put together just to secure it, because she trusted those buckets of bolts that called themselves techpriests about as much as she'd trust a daemon or rather she might trust the daemon more... It hadn't been once or twice her defenses caught someone trying to get inside the room and she did have a bug or two on occasion in hte past. Techpriests hated her guts and to most of them she was ready to return in kind. She was just as worthy to tinker and deal with technology as any of them!
She moved her feet off the side of the bed and sat properly, rubbing her face with her hands. Bare skin revealed from her sleepware, feeling the coolness of the air. It's been quite a bit of time already since she entered the services of the inquisition... how long was it? A few years now? She still had nightmares. The initiation into the inquisition wasn't the nicest thing ever, especially since they found her so near chaos vessels. She was proved, studied, interrogated in many ways until she was deemed safe from chaotic corruption. And she suspected she was not exectured on the spot simply because of luck back then. Anyways it didn't matter anymore, but honestly those 'studies' left a huge scar on her, nto so much physical as mental. And she was fine physically only because they did a good job.
Taking a deep breath, she walked into the shower unit, and took a breif shower before she moved over to her usual equipment for a mission and changed into it. With the suit and armored secured, she got her weapons in place and no one could call her unprepared. She had a lot of weapons on herself. Better be safe than sorry, was her motto and she was still alive because of it.
As she opened the door of her room, she saw a servitor 'innocently' milling about with some tasks. She narrowed her eyes, sighed and then did an eyeroll. No doubt it was placed here to keep an eye on her or something else. She was going to have to do a sweep of her room when they return later... If they dared mess with ehr stuff while she was gone, she was going to show them what she thought of their tech heresies opinions and this time with 50% more explosions...
She closed the door of her room behind herself and proceeded to attach the magnetic lock on it for good measure, before pulling a pen and a note from ehr pockets, scribbling.' It explodes if tempered. Try unlocking this one.' And attached it to the device before heading off to the hangar where they were to meet up for the upcoming mission. Needless to say it was likely her 'owner' would recieve a very disgruntled message from teh tech priests of the place at a later date... as usual. But no matter what, she WAS in service of the fucking inquisition, so the bags of bolts couldn't touch her none of her devices had proved any of hteir claims for heresy so far and they wouldn't.
As she entered the hanger she spotted her Celestian Superior Aviza, doing some preparations about hte mission of her own. Vala, made a note to step heavier to signal her arrival as she walked to a nearby crate that she decided to use as improvised table and started going through her gear there. Mostly confirming there wasn't any issue with the cells for the sniper. A while back one was defective and she nearly ended blowing off both her hands. Somehow a recharged by fire cell ended up in her supply. Vala was sure it was teh techies, hadn't had a proof though.

People had gathered upon the hollow grounds. That was all nice, having a sturdy building to protect was way better than be in open fields, but that was under the condition they could protect it of course. Constantin wasn't quite sure how people here protected places like churches or if the holy grounds would even keep the local soulless at bay. There always seemed to be exceptions to every rule.
As he watched Veta focus on the ritual and Vlad conversing briefly with the woman that Veta chased after, Constantin noticed something wrong. The room felt wrong... There was a scent in the air, fire, but the place was free of smoke, unless he couldn't see it through the haze, but he doubted that was the case. Still as his attention was focused, he noticed something, something really bad. There was some kind of existance inside the church. It was big, dark, wrong... hiding in the rafters. He felt like cursing, but didn't. Veta was not to be disrupted from the ritual, but her safety was of greatest importance as well.
A hand tactifully moved over to his weapon, resting on the handle in as casual manner as he could, but he was ready to dash in and protect the Grand Duchess with his life. He moved a few steps about, moving closer to her within acceptable distance, to have the chance to jump in and push her out of the danger if the worst came to shove. In the meanwhile, he looked at Vlad with very serious expression, but didn't speak out, he was afraid of provoking the thing into attack. He hoped his expression was enough of a clue and also slowly looked upwards with his eyes only for a brief moment without moving his head, hoping that Vlad would get the clue.
Still what a bad series of luck they had for a while now. Though he couldn't help, but admit that it was probably not luck. he might be a little paranoid about Veta's safety, but he was almost certain the soulless seemed to be gunning for her for some reason... and maybe hte rest of them as well on the side. He now only hoped the thing didn't act before Veta was done with the ritual.

"Well... " Mosi started saying something when the doctor expressed his preferrence for it being a gas. She thought it over for a few moments, made a pondering expression and then shrugged her shoulders." It would depend on the type of gas it is. If it's the type that gets set off by a spark or the like, it would certainly be one memorable way to go." She bluntly replied to him, probably sounding just a tad bit too upbeat about possible exploding death. Then again she almost died one today already and sudden immediate death of getting blown up in a massive explosion, seemed preferrable over slow death of being stung by what seemed to be thousands of bees.
She felt the stingers being removed, one by one, until the hands were clear. It was a relief to not see or feel those evil things stuck on her like that. It was exptremely uncomfortable, but not that they were being removed it felt at least a little better. Another thing that made her mood feel better was the fact that all the bees who's stringers were upon her, were all also dead by now. Poetic justice!" Well... my cabin's on the deck above us." She replied with a tired smile." All my clothing and the like's there, so once you are done it's easy to get some clothing, but I did say the captain I'm going to be here so he and his people can do their work in peace. After they are done with the rooms, I'm certainly thinking about the possibility of just going in my room and not leaving for a day or two. Simply sleeping this off." She added, throwing a look at the doctor. Admittedly she wasn't over hanging about in her underewear. It didn't matter to her much at this point and she might actually get a nice tan going while she was at it as matter of fact. This was a possibility too.
"So... it's time for the neck and face." Mosi mumbled and looked at the man before taking a deep breath, unbuttoning the top few buttons of her shirt as to allow him good access to her neck without the collar of the shirt hindering him and then calmly stood still, waiting for him to start removing the stingers. She noted the haze was still going strong too. Suddenly a thought occured to her." Just out of curiosity, why would you prefer it being gas? Is it so bad a possibility of it being some unknown force from beyong our understanding?"
Age: 29 Sex: Female Position within The Imperium of Man: Former Mercenary Engineer Armor: -Reinforced leather jacket, pants. -Custom Armor plating β Created by using parts of salvaged imperial power armor. Multiple modifications and corrections were made for it to fit its new role. Barely resembles its origin. Still somewhat better than carapace armor though and of course more aestetic. -Armored leather boots with inbuilt powerful electromagnets. -A pair of armored gloves. Weapons: -βWhite Skullβ Las Pistol β a heavily modified version of the standard issue laspistol, this work of engineering has been created by Vala herself. It has almost triple the power draw of a normal laspistol, making it more useful than itβs original, but it depletes powercells quickly and the wear on the weapon is increased, making the need for replacement parts quite frequent. She has created only 3 of these with the other two now destroyed. Itβs kept on a holster on her right hip. - MAG Autogun MkIV(Shelly) - An autogun that fires hexagonal solid projectiles. The projectiles are about 6 cm in length and 0.7 cm in diameter. She acquired this specific gun or at least what was the remnants of a gun while on one of the many lawless space stations scattered across the fringes of Imperium space. After a lot of tinkering and experimentation she managed to create a workable and actually useful variant of it. It has the same range as a standard autogun. Its flat projectiles/slugs are propelled using a system of incredibly powerful electromagnets. The rifle uses standard powercells. Devastating against lightly armored targets as causes both blunt and puncture damage with each slug. Lacks penetrating power against heavily armored targets, though still hits like a hammer. The rifle has 10 slugs per clip. Held on the right side of her back with a magnetic buckle. -'Nova' LAS Heavy Sniper. - This a custom made las sniper, she made in the last year. It's strength stands in both it's incredible power and armor penetration plus great range. It's almost entirely custom rigged from both original and standard technology. Instead of one great emitter like the standard heavy las weapons, this one uses 4 smaller ones. The first three fire slightly before the fourth which is arranged in between the other 3, thus at impact the first 3 create a weaken heated spot in the middle, which allows the fourth to more easily puncture through the armor. This weapon can hold 2 power cells for las cannons, allowing for 2 shots at a time, before needing reload. The barrels and powers are cooled by 2 other special slots where she puts old depleted power cells that serve as sinks for the heat generated during a shot, thus lengthening the lifespan of all parts. Still for safety purposes, the required waiting time between shots is at least 10 seconds. -Autopistol β Held in a holster on her left hip. -Short straight sword β She keeps it for when sheβs out of all her other weapons. Kept in a sheath across the left side of her back. -4 small frag grenades. Equipment: -A forearm mounted grappling hook launcher β uses same electromagnetic tech as her rifle. -Known to also carry portable set of tools during missions. Personality: As a person, Vala's a quick thinker and calm even under pressure. She's fast to come up with plans when problems arise and even faster to act up on those plans. She's friendly and mostly easy to get along with, but does dislike people who fool around too much even when the situation is not appropriate for it. She loves technology and loves tinkering with it in new manners that could prove useful, discovering new ways to deal with problems and get results with better ease or less costs. Naturally this trait of her tends to get her in conflict with tech priests, but what the techpriest do not know about, doesn't hurt her. The benefit of the Inquisition. On the humanity front, she doesn't really hold much zealous fanatism or pride, she doesn't hold much hatred for the xenos or the mutants, but will kill either if she has too without as much as a thought. She hates chaos, but not to the point of being blinded. Chaos destroyed everything she ever held dear and she doesn't mind returning the favor if she could without getting herself killed that is.
As a merc Val cannot really boast with deeds such as those of the soldiers of the Imperium, but she has stacked up a small list of accomplishments non the less.
The Kroozer Gambit
Hired by a Rogue Trader, away from the notable trade routes, Vala and her crew were tasked with bringing down a ork Kroozer that was discovered waiting in ambush for an unsuspecting transports. The Trader didnβt want to damage his own vessel so he hired mercs to be his scapegoats while his ship would pass the sector, hoping to escape paying.
Her crew immediately got suspicious of it and forged a plan to both do the job and get paid. Since what they had was a old modified transport ship, they pretended to be a random unsuspecting pray while a Vala and 4 of her crewmates took an assault boat. When the Kroozer moved to intercept their transport along with itβs fighter escort, the assault boat rammed to the engine room. Following a lightning fast gunfight, they set 5 heavy explosives across the engines and left the ship just in time for the bombs to explode and cripple the vessel. During that time, their transport had led the escort wing straight to the Rogue Traderβs vessel. Without support from the Kroozer, the trader managed to deal with the fighter escort. Their transport ship had susptained medium damages, but they got paid non the less. She later heard that an imperial Dauntless stumbled upon the Kroozer and destroyed it. Surely the Rogue Trader had taken all credit for disabling itβ¦
3 days of darkness.
Valaβs crew had been forced to land on an uninhabited world when they came into confrontation with a light corsairs pirate vessel. Luckily for them the elder ship wasnβt heavily armed and after an incredible accurate hit on their part, both vessels were forced to crash land.
Valaβs armed transport had taken a serious beating and given the degree of the damage it would have required at least a week to repair. Without given much choice in the matter they were forced into a fight for their lives. After 3 days of almost constant battling with the corsairs, Valaβs crew managed to repel the enemy and grant her enough time to finish the repairs in a record time of 3 and a half days! They lost 5 people in that event, but finally managed to escape the planet.
Death to the Infidel.
While on a break from missions and traveling towards a nearby lawless space station for refuel and repair, Valaβs transport suddenly shook heavily from the impact wave of an immense explosion. By the time they saw what was going on, the transport was knee deep in a chaos attack of two Infidel class escorts on the pirate station.
The stationβs weak shields were quickly down, itβs frankly old weaponry couldnβt match the two escorts. As the transports around it were destroyed, Valaβs ship found itself with no place to run. She and other 5 of her 15 crew members barely managed to get to the assault boat that also doubled as a escape capsule before their transport was blown to bits by 2 torpedos. With the destruction of the station, one of the Infidel class ships left to chase some ships that managed to escape the initial barrage while the other one stayed behind to finish wiping the place from anything that moved. Without place to land anywhere in the assault boatβs range there was only one option left. They used the debris as cover from the batteries, they boarded the Escortβs engine compartment like they had done in the past with the orks.
It was a slaughter against the chaos marines their weapons didnβt really carry much punch. It took Vala mere 2 minutes to set all the explosives and move back to her assault boat, but by the time she pulled the boat away from the chaos ship, she was the only one left. Alone and heavily wounded she watched with a big smile as the explosions took place, rendering it motionless in spaceβ¦ She laughed loudly as Imperial ships started warping about the place, probably having noticed the chaos presence.
