Eleanora walked down the roads of Corbis Wood with a mostly negative to at best neutral scowl, heading towards the Coach Station. This… gathering had all the markings of an elaborate hoax, but with the absence of better leads, it was going to have to do. It’s been a long while since she had anything good to go by, it seemed that the supernatural was a hard thing to track, unless you moved in it’s circles. She knew weird stuff were going on all around, but even as a detective, unless she was hired for such a job, by the time it reached her ears, it would already be all over and little to no traces would be left. Information wasn’t as fast traveling as she’d like it to be.
Walking ever onwards the dusty road, she spotted the station in the not so far distance.” This better pay out...” She grumbled under her breath, speed increasing in tune with the scowl on her face, clearly showing she wasn’t in the best of moods right now. On this job, she hadn’t touched alcohol for a good some time now, ever since she left home to come to Corbis Wood. She kept focused, but it didn’t mean she wasn’t being affected by irritation, especially since this blasted place was so quiet and calm in general. She hated quiet places… in these places were the most dangerous of thing hiding. She ran a finger through her hair, twirling a raven lock as she walked the last bit of the road to the station.
The station was already rather filled with people she supposed, at least when considered the location and the people who lived around these parts. She scanned the people around and quickly spotted what she suspected were the people organizing this event. Once more she had to remind herself that if it didn’t pan out with clues, she’d just consider it a vacation from her job… A getaway from the city. Still clearly irritated to some degree, she pulled a cigarette, brought it to her lips and after it was secured there, she pulled her lighter and it up. She inhaled deeply with half closed eyes, her tense and irritated features calming just a tad as she turned to the stocky man and the younger one.
Walking with confident gait and directly to the pair of men, she stopped a few steps distance from them, reaching to her cigarette, holding it gently between her middle and index fingers she inhaled one last time, before pulling it away from her lips. She exhaled the smoke to the side, not to do so in their faces.” You Paul LeMond and Herb Whitefield?” Eleanora asked them, bringing the cigarette to her lips again for a quick pull from it.” Name's Eleanora Estelle, pleasure meeting you.” She added with her slight french accent, but her voice despite that didn’t carry as much pleasantries as what was being said. She was clearly not in a great mood, but she wasn’t outright hostile at the very least.

Driven by the past and the traumatic events she underwent, losing her family and being on the step of death herself, she's unable to accept it all and simply move on. Amelia was smiling as Nikki was talking then when she started doing a parody impression of a rich man, Amelia more or less lost it and burst into a loud laugh for a moment. It’s been a while since she had been so caught off guard by a joke. With the topic of dead friends, Amelia had only nodded. She didn’t speak much more on the subject, having realized that her last interaction with the man was also saying goodbye. It was not a nice realization to have, but time did heal wounds. It’s been a long time since then and the wounds of separation were long since dulled, albeit they still caused some pain. Sadly the world was not fair and it never waited for anyone. In a way to a degree she had accepted it. For now all she cared about was Riley and their new live here.
She then watched rather confused after the mouse appeared and the other young woman tried to capture it, calling it by name.” It’s not a wild mouse?” She asked with some curiosity as she saw it scurry off her pants and down under the furniture in it’s escape attempt from Nikki, and escape it did!” It’s your pet? ” Amelia asked, returning to doing her job, now that the little thing was gone.” You know, I can help you in trying to catch it, from now on… though it might be tomorrow, since I’m not quite sure how long I have left here for the moment before I need to leave.” She smiled and looked around the floor. If they wanted to catch it alive, it meant no traps, so she supposed they’d have to bait it out somehow. It would actually be a nice activity and she did want to help the girl.
“Well first will have to finish the rest of the tasks however, otherwise we might get ranted on...” She recalled SB from earlier and the fact that Auntie could probably also be pretty scary if they make her mad. Old ladies were rather scary when angry, something about that innate judgment glare they all somehow had.

“Pretty sure what the new world has to offer is a variation of what the old one had, maybe with a few less bastards running about.” She smiled as she replied to him.” Which I will be quick to state that small fact on itself is enough of a cause for celebration in many a ways indeed. Granted there are still some of those running about, but ehh, nothing is perfect.” She chuckled and looked at Manny.” Everybody has something to offer and I’m sure your presence will bring a lot of benefits to the camp, you’ve got experience in many things by the sound of it and that’s always a plus. Besides dental’s important!”
“Dunno, for all we know whatever is causing them to well exist might be keeping them operational someway we cannot discover. So yeah, it’s been years now and they still move, still, they are somewhat decayed, so it might just be a very delayed process. Besides time and weather wear down stone and metal, flesh and bone are way weaker than stone and metal, so given enough time, they would be affected good more likely than not. So the possibility still exist!” She saud in some characteristic for her optimism.
“Mmm, psychology is not my specialty. You can talk more about it at the church.” She chuckled and tossed Manny a look.” But I agree with you. Besides if people odn’t like civilization that much, they are always free to venture out and find somewhere where others won’t bother them.” She stated flatly with some seriousness as she was finishing up with the cleaning now as well.” Also, yes, you aren’t wrong. We are done now.” She confirmed as she took a final look around just going through the mental check list she had.” Okey time to gather up.” She explained and started gathering up the cleaning tools and then the things they had to toss away into their respective carts.” Work well done, with two people it indeed takes a lot less time to complete. Thanks.” She patted Manny on the shoulder.” Seems I might just have enough time to finish with the labs on time or with minimal delay afterwards.”
“That is well understandable… like all the aunties and old ladies even back before the whole… world went to hell.” Amelia replied to Nikki with a nod and a smile. It was usually the case no, older people loved to talk about the events happening to others around them. Guess it was their entertainment and she couldn’t blame them for it, nor she had any intention to. If they wanted to talk about her and Riley they were all welcome, as long as nothing bad was being said at the very least.
Hearing what was to happen with the clothing and how Nikki proposed to deal with it, Amelia nodded in agreement now that she had the proposal.” Yeah that will do. Thank you.” She replied and scurried off behind the curtains of the dressing room to change clothing once more. It was a pleasant weird feeling to be back in a dress after all that time. She finished putting on her more comfortable for work clothing, folded the dress and walked out of the dressing room joining Nikki so they can get back to work.
It was a lot of menial work, but Amelia actually found it rather zen in a way. It was relaxing and calming to the mind, she didn’t mind the fact it wasn’t very energetic and activity demanding job. It made her calm to have something simple and repetitive to do and sorting out items and writing lists was quite much so. Suddenly she looked up from the things they were sorting and rearranging and looked at the other girl. She didn’t reply for a moment, making a reminiscing expression.” James. We got along well back in Newnan, can’t quite say the same for the rest, but I owe him at least that much.” She explained when something small and furry scurried off from among the furniture and the different things arranged about the hall.
Before Amelia realized It was happening, the thing had already climbed up her leg and only then did she feel and realize it! She nearly jumped as she looked down and saw… a pair of beady eyes of a mouse! She froze in place, staring at the little critter. She wasn’t deadly afraid of mice, and being startled was not a new thing in the world. She relaxed a bit, it was just a small mouse, not even a big rat anyways. Mouses were cuter than rats...” MM… Nikki, can you… get it off my leg?” She asked, not moving much. She was afraid that if she moves it might start climbing again. She wasn’t really afraid of it, at least not to freak out. Itg wasn't a dog after all, it was a small mouse with cute beady eyes. She still didn’t want to be used as a climbing playground for a random mouse though.
Work was going great. In fact Lisa found herself thinking it was going better than expected, maybe better than she hoped to. Many was learning quickly the specifics of the trade, likely from past experience, but I was nice to have someone else to help her out with it so the task was going smoother and faster. What’s more just to make things even better overall, the smell was going away rather fast as well! Good, meant they were doing a great work indeed.” We keep going like this and we’d be more or less done by the time you need to leave.” She smiled at the man. That was especially great news, because well… Lisa still had work to do back at Medical. The cleaning there had to be done as well and it wouldn’t wait till tomorrow. As soon as they were done here, she was more or less running back to Mediacal to finish the job there as well. Hell she had no idea why SB agreed to send here here before they were done with the basement in the hospital. Maybe they were going to be doing something to the boat and needed it in good condition first.
With a grin she tossed a look at Manny.” Well maybe you will get the chance to see the world then. Follow your dreams, but I think you will like it here also.” She chuckled and shrugged her shoulders.” Most people like it here and for a good reason. Still you’ve been out of quarantine barely half a day, so no worries. By the time a few weeks pass and you’ve met many of the locals, you will feel a lot more comfortable here. By then you will also have had the chance to talk with many of those who have been part of this place way longer than myself.” She added with friendly voice. He would certainly start to feel better and more fitting once he makes a few friends among the similar aged people in the camp, she was certain of it!
“Yeah, well as I already said, they clearly aren’t decaying as normal corpses would. Without very indepth studies on it, anything we say here is mere speculations and guesses, but if they do indeed get worse with time and eventually it affects their mobility and danger and then the rules will be more loose. Until and if at all till then, the rulers are actually pretty secure and keep the place running in good operational state.” Lisa shrugged, thinking about the walkers she’d seen so far. In all honestly, she had her doubts that they will ever completely go away baring some miracle like superpowers.” As for how it will be if walkers aren’t as dangerous anymore… probably as it’d been before he zombies appeared. Ideally people will have learned that working together for a long time.” A bit of an optimist view on the topic, but she was a bit of an optimist anyways.
„Oh…” She made a sound of realization as Nikki explained the way the old ladies probably viewed her and Riley. Amelia was quiet for a moment then let out a rare chuckle.” I suppose we are the new show in town then. Not sure they will find us as interesting as a soap opera though.” She smiled and was a a rather good mood. It was true that she and Riley were going steady for a while now and she was so glad for it.” Mmmm… I guess I will be learning how to play cards today.” Amelia thought aloud. There were a lot of activities to spend your free time it seemed. It seemed there would be a good variety to choose from and it won’t be getting stale for a while at least.
“I like the hat very much, no need for a wig, thank you!” Amelia quickly fired out a statement as she gripped the hat and put it on, holding it in place, clearly refusing to put on a wig in a bit of a comical manner. It was an attempt at a humor given the situation. She smiled at Nikki and quickly folded the clothing she wore until now.” Well I don’t like bright colors to begin with, so this gray dress serves me perfectly.” She explained that it was mostly because of personal preference.” And I suppose you are right there. It’s just that out there on the roads, you cannot allow yourself to show any weakness so stuff that stands out or is in the way is usually a bad thing when you can expect walkers to sneak up on you at all times even when you rest.” She sighed and moved the hat about to set it better. It felt odd on her head right now since the hair was slowly growing, but she supposed once she gets some hair going, it’d look better.” So what do I do with my old clothes now? I suppose they should be brought to be cleaned.”
“Mm, once more thank you for this.” She added with a smile also looking around the place and all the things set about it.” I suppose we should be returning to work now, don’t want you to get in trouble for spending all this time to help me. I need to work extra hard had to make up for this and the fact I will be leaving soon!” Amelia said with serious voice and conviction.” So now that we ran the papers before lunch, what do we have to do now? Check more lists… or?”
Lisa looked at Manny as they were working and he brought up the topic of other settlements. She rose an eyebrow and thought for a bit.” Not really.” Was her simple reply that came pretty fast.” Since I’ve come to this place, I’ve rarely went outside unless on duty. As for the other settlements, never had the opportunity to.” She shrugged as she cleaned the room in the boat. As the man mentioned a conflict she just shrugged.” Mmm not sure what exactly I can tell you about that. Honestly not sure on the details myself, you want the specifics you can try the General or Gunny. Or SB if she’s in a good mood.” She chuckled.
With her piece said, she focused on the boat once more. The thing was rocking gently which wasn’t unusual and it wasn’t too bad, at least it wasn’t interfering with clean up. What’s more after the initial period of once more getting used to it, work was actually going smoothly. She felt that in fact they might get done here earlier than initial estimates! Lisa smiled, she liked it when work was going great.
“Anyhow, yeah I actually don’t know much about the conflict as I said. Not sure it matters that much right now though, it’s already settled.” Lisa stated and looked at Manny.” Why are you asking about that anyways? Curiosity?” She asked him with calm voice and pointed at at a spot by him.” Focus on that thing. It’s requiring more scrubbing than the rest.” She added with a smile. Lisa was now curious why he was asking about that topic. Was he worried that a conflict might break out again?
Amelia was honestly taken a bit by surprise by how the things with Mary happened. Despite Nikki’s faul and direct language, nothing happened. What’s more despite Mary’s even more threatening attitude she just walked away, finally allowing Amelia the chance to take a deep breath and nod at Nikki.” I assume this happens often?” She asked, her eyes wandering towards the door where Mary had left from.
“Uhh…? Ahhh, those things.” She was at first a bit confused about what the younger girl was describing for a moment there, before the image clicked in her head. Now that was a surprising hobby to have. The name for it slipped her mind also, it was some specific naming term used, she’d recall it eventually when she wasn’t trying to think it up.” If it works, I think it’d be worth to see one.” Amelia said, imagining a balling ball going down some rails of a building triggered by a walker walking over something and the ball falling on it’s head.” I imagine they don’t just allow her to actually go outside freely and do those right? I imagine the hoops to jump through with a hobby like that are quite a few?”
Then there were also the other women in Supply who started to sign off for the end of their shifts. Amelia waved a good bye to them as well, feeling a bit surprised when they invited them to play cards later.” Maybe? I’m not sure for today.” She admitted quietly. She truly wasn’t sure if she would have the chance to go to the card gathering and then she wasn’t sure she’d be willing to go there on her own. Admittedly she found it easier to hang around people of ages with some distance to her own, but still. She’d say it to Riley also and see if the musician wants to go. Yeah.
As Nikki started to explain the women’s curiosity. Amelia blushed up a bit and coughed one with a nod.” I suppose it’s not surprising.” She said quietly. Well it wasn’t a bad thing anyways. Though she wondered if the girl had to put it so bluntly. Well so far it seemed that she was frank to painful degree and didn’t pick her words and in a way, Amelia appreciated that honestly a lot.” I suppose they curiosity doesn’t hurt. Hmm?” She made a questioning sound at the end as Nikki seemed to have found whatever she was searching for.
“...” Amelia had a puzzled confused face for a moment as she picked the older styled hat with a veil form the younger woman’s hands. She looked at Nikki for a moment, then at the hat and only then tried it on. She had to admit by type it did go well with the gray summer dress, Amelia liked that. Looking through the veil around it was a bit weird at first.” It’s a nice hat and I do like it… and it does go with the dress, but isn’t it a bit… much given the situation?” She asked Nikki with quiet voice.” Most others would be dressed with more regular clothing… this will stand out so much...”
“Well honestly I’ve been cleaning here a a number of times already, but full out boat ride into deep waters? On that front, not really.” She shrugged and tossed a look at the older man.” Well to be completely honest I wouldn’t mind one day going to the deep ocean on a boat.” She admitted, getting to the cleaning that needed to be done.” I think, I might like it there. It would be nice and calm most of the time.”
The medical room on board the boat was small, well cramped would be the proper word for it, but hey it was getting the job done.” This is likely to take a few hours and it’s not even a bad case of it.” She chuckled as she got to cleaning and sterilizing.” We are lucky they must have not encountered anything bad out there. It’s going to be a longer more monotonous job today it seems.” She smiled and tossed a look at Manny.” Again it’s likely you’ve got to leave before we finish here, but don’t worry. No need to hurry with the task.” She reassured him and focused on the job.
Well she hoped that a few of the tricks of the trade she had picked up along the years would help speed up the process, but as she was wiping up surfaces and tools, she realized it wasn’t going to cut it right now. She’d have to do it all properly down to the basics without any smart tricks up her sleeve. She didn’t mind much though. She had nowhere to hurry to today.
“Set up traps? What?” Amelia was a bit confused for a moment when Nikki mentioned Lisa for some reason and talking about traps. Then after a moment she had a sudden realization.”Ohh...timing yes. Timing is important for traps. What did you mean by 'weird' though?” She nodded, somewhat understanding it now.” Well knowing the time and being on time is usually always a good thing. If nothing else, you won’t be yelled at for being late.” Amelia smiled and looked at the younger woman.
“Still, thank you a lot.” She repeated and smiled at Nikki.” I will make use of your good will.” Amelia added and started looking through the variety of clothing she had been presented. The girl had indeed went the mile and sorted it out for her. The clothing was indeed simple though varied on the things present. Still looking them over she smiled and nodded before pulling out the simple gray summer dress. It wasn’t anything fancy and it should be comfortable for this weather and if nothing else since it was a summer dress it didn’t hinder mobility as much and can easily be adapted if it did in extreme situations.” Thing this is about my size.” She mentioned lining it against herself just as a vague measure and followed with her eyes where Nikki pointed out the changing rooms.” Okey, be right…???” She was surprised by the sudden change of mood in Nikki as she took a glance at who had just entered. She wasn’t quite 100% certain, but if she recalled right this was the woman from Medical.
Amelia nearly jumped when the woman snapped at them. At first she thought something had fucked up and got concerned as she threw her concerned and somewhat afraid glances at Nikki, as if asking if she had done something and fucked up on her day at work. Her worry and concern was short lived as Nikki, the ever present heroine of bravery and attitude she was, ranted back and in the process all was explained to Amelia as well. She took a deep breath, holding the dress to her chest, relieved that nothing was wrong.” Ohh right, yes.” Snapped by to reality by the younger woman’s reminding her of the changing rooms with her gesture, Amelia hurriedly moved to them and got into one. She was NOT hiding from the scary angry sounding snapping woman.
With the safe and secure confines and cover of the changing room, she slowly undressed the clothing she had on, and taking a look at the dress, quickly put it on. It was mostly okey, she did a quick turn around, mostly pleased with it. Sure it was a simple gray color one, but she liked it like this. Honestly the only thing she missed was her hair in this case. She pulled herself out of the changing room to show it to Nikki.” I think it’s good. It fit me. Well it’s a bit wider on the waist, but, otherwise it’s good. I think this one it will be.”

“If they taught walker lore and biology at med schools, I think we would have had a lot more doctors running around. Anyways no leaving for tomorrow I’m afraid. Don’t worry however, I will deal with the rest after the boat is done and over with.” She smiled to Manny with a calm expression.” It’s just how things are, no two ways about it, this stuff’s important after all. Need the lab areas to be as clean as possible, even if we finished the basics already, can’t wait till tomorrow. Work's work and got to be done today.” She was overall used to these things even before the apocalypse started. It was basically her whole job prior to it after all.
Indeed it was good Medical and Water repair was reasonably close. Good time was made as the Water Repair Shop was reached. Lisa was mostly used to it by now, being in the camp for a while, didn’t know how her new helper would adapt to it however. Shouldn’t matter even if he was sea sick, which as far as she was aware, he wasn’t! Not that she’d know if he was, she didn’t read any files on him. She pointed out the boat they would be working to Manny. She wasn’t quite sure exactly how good a time they made, but it wasn’t yet 1400.
“HEY, Good day to you two!” She waved back as she heard Maddog voice. She waved the greeting to Rivets as well as she got close to them. Lisa was quick to get into working mood as she got to the other woman and took the list from her, giving it a quick look over, making mental notes about the things on it. True enough, it was mostly cleaning and restocking. She rose an eyebrow when she heard the comments from Maddog.” That’s good, though with this time going well, I fear next time it will take what’s due.” She replied to him.” As for the smell… It’s nothing much than the usual.” She added and gestured to Manny.
“To introduce you, this is Manny. He will be helping out with cleaning duties at Medical from now on. So you will probably meet up more often.” She introduced the man with a smile on her face.” Manny, these are Maddog and Rivets."
“Alright, gotta start working ASAP. Stuff for some reason seems to be stacking up today. Got directed here before I finished off at Medical completely, so unless I want to stay overtime, I can’t fool around and lose time willy nilly.” She chuckled and waited for Maddog to get off the ramp and then got onto the boat herself to properly asses the condition once she was inside. “Okey this shouldn’t be too bad.” She smiled and put on the gear… aka some gloves to protect from the chemicals and other such materials that they’d be using to sanitize the thing.” First time cleaning a boat?” She asked Manny as she got to work.
