“Then I will be the most pretty white rat there ever was… and my tail might regrow I guess.” Kosara had a bit distractedly replied to Kathryn given the nature of her current interraction companion being a very curious rat.” Well and then I guess I will use my newfound teeth to bite some evil doers.”

“Now… let’s see, thank you very much. Have a nice evening, Mr Rat. But remember, be kind and good.” She stated to the tiny critter as it bolted away from her. How curious, it indeed looked rather more adorable than the pesky ones that she had noted before. Well it certainly looked more adorable than the evil were-rats. And than the scuttering ones in the fog. Well she hadn’t had perfect view of those, just a glimpse, but they looked rather… NOT adorable. In any case, she opened the note without wasting time or paying note to Kathryn’s paranoia, that Kosara was more than willing to call good adventuring common sense. Problem with that was that Kosara wasn’t quite a regular person when it came to common sense.

She read through the note. Blinked and then read it again. “Them fighting words...” She hissed out and then let out a giggle… that descended into a laugh, it was just a tad twisted though. Ohh Kosara was mad.” We got the invitation!” She practically sang as she hopped over, handing the note over to Marita.” Ol Cloverwish send us a proper invite with a location for the ambush. Right in the middle of the town. Think we are meant to be a bit of a scene or maybe example.” She stated her giggling and laughing fit returning to normal breathing as her eyes were burning with some very angry flames. It wasn’t her usual ‘I’m so angry at you like a cat’ anger. No, she was really darn angry this time around.

“Alright, what’s the plan, right down to bust the ambush or… we go with my first idea with their hideout?” She asked, looking at the others. They didn’t have much choices really, it was either bust the ambush and start the slaughtering spree from there on or they skip the ambush and instead hit the Municipal building cause she was pretty sure it was their base of operations.” I don’t think he will bring Cecily to the obvious ambush though… so we gotta decide fast.” The dancer added. These were their options as far as she could figure it out.

Opening the door with a zeal, Kosara eyed the seeming emptiness outside. Then her eyes glided over to the axe that was stuck into the doorframe. Well that explained the heavy thud. She recalled the thing vaguely as the one that Kathryn had earlier. Well that didn’t bode well about Cecily’s situation as the tiefling hissed in righteous fury when the voice filled the misty night’s air, origin unknown and unseen. It sounded arrogant and condescending in it’s attempts to threaten them and weasel their way out of confrontation. Now there were many a ways one could take this, as a polite gesture, a request to not escalate things further and cause more deaths, but what Kosara heard and understood was a desire to escape confrontation cause whomever and whatever this was, was likely afraid they would mess their plans! These things...people… group? Whatever it was, were clearly targeting helpless people no problem, but as soon as somebody to fight back appeared they desire to solve it peacefully? Sure it was about as genuine as Kosara was a pretty dark skinned elf with purple hair or something.

“Big words coming from a voice without actual presence to show.” Kosara huffed as the voice seemingly left. Ohh she was mad now. She was storming down the municipal building before they could evacuate and escape with the people and whatever else was going on tonight. Thoughts of deaths and undead servitude glided over her pretty little head with no apparent recognition.” Hmm?” She made a sound of surprise and confusion as she saw a lil rat carrying apparently a message to them. Well that was new and unusual and straight out of a fairy tale." What do we have here?" Of all things that she might have excepted this was not one of them, but she didn’t mind. Interesting things were important on adventures!

With the attitude of an angry cat, Kosara stomped out of the doorway and headed for the rat where she proceeded to crouch and reach to get the letter.” Well, Hello there! It would be rude to not at least pick the message... You know, You are cuter than those pesky ones I saw earlier, but you better go before I figure out how you make the best foodstuff cause I’m quite angry right now because of all this and don’t want to take it out on you.” She lightly pulled onto the letter to get it from the rat.

“Hello love, you didn’t miss too much today. Just Harry giving us a job and his stress getting to him, the poor dear.” Ellie stated with a smile to the woman that arrived last. It was their resident medical specialist. The lovely woman that would be stitching them up should anything uncouth happens… or if they encounter the dogs. Yes, the dogs were a possibility, but so were so many other things. Arkham was a weird place. If whatever attacked her back in the day counted as dogs, she wondered what would count as bats… or maybe lizards or fish? She hoped they didn’t encounter any, but she really wanted to find the thing that attacked her one day and put a few between it’s eyes… or whatever it had for eyes anyways.

“Tres bien!” Ellie exclaimed to Maggie’s agreement to provide transport in return to covering traveling expenses and coffee.” That would serve perfectly, love. In that case, I will meet you at your place once I pass by home to prepare. We shouldn’t bring too much indeed as the Professor suggests. With so many of us, any vehicle would be a tight fit, so packing lightly would be good.” She nodded with a smile. With that she gave out a tip of her hat and walked away into the chilly morning air heading home. Well she would be heading home after she passes by her boyfriend’s hangout. The old bar he liked to use.

It didn’t take too much time to get there since it was on route, she greeted the guy standing on the back door, got inside, met the man. Wiled him up with pretty words and suggested gestures. Promises of wild and intimate reunion once she completes her job, wearing his favorite clothing of course and finally reminded him that he should be careful with his ventures and that making sure his targets had enough left to live in relative comfort to recover eventually and grow their businesses meant he would eventually be able to collect once more and thus in the long run making more money. Finally with a passionate and wild kiss that caused a number of wolf whistles from his underlings, they split up, Ellie leaving with a brand new pack of bills in her possession to add to the one at home to pay for her near future expenses.

Eventually she made it home and began putting everything she needed in a small suitcase. It wasn’t big, but it held the stuff she needed it to, in this case mostly clothing and toiletries. Got to maintain hygiene even when on the travel. So she put a spare set of clothing, one more in tune with a casual outing than work related. A small cosmetics case, a hair brush, a bit more spare ammo and of course a book. Then once her small case was filled to the brim but closed and secured, she walked to the kitchen and prepared some sandwiches. She might have been a gangster and a detective now, but she did use to be a housewife once upon a time. She also made a whole thermos of fresh coffee for Maggie. So once she had made a sandwich for everybody, she put them in a bag with the thermos of coffee, picked her case, her purse and then headed out, after leaving a note for the house keeper to clean up later and that she’d return in a few days, maybe a week top or two tops.

After that she made her way to Maggie’s place, got her case stashed away in the trunk first cause she arrived first and then most securely without thinking much jumped into the front passenger seat to ride shotgun because no way was she riding with all the others in the back seats, pushed that close like sardines in a can. She handed their driver the money to pay for gas when they head to the fuel station along with the thermos of home made coffee. With a bit of flirting, but nothing aggressive.

Now one hour after their departure( and a few hours since they began gathering up), they found themselves on the provincial roads, Ellie had her window lowered slightly as she chewed on the unlit cigarette in her mouth. She hadn’t lit it so far, but Ellie was getting to the end of her patience. So she opened the window by her side more and leaned more to it, making sure that most of the smoke was getting sucked out of the window. With that done, she felt the loving jolt of nicotine down her throat.” Anyone want something to eat? Have some sandwiches with me.” She ask offered, without turning, noting a somewhat peculiar looking tree that they passed by. Looked like a tree one might use to hang people with back in the day. Long far reaching and sturdy horizontal branches. All it was missing was the corpse hanging from it… man was she morbid today. Must be the hangover.

Kosara gave a near feral grin when Marita proclaimed going to war. Yes! She was looking forward kicking evil in the butt, breaking their legs and hearing the lamentations of the rats! Wait, that’s wrong… Anyways, putting aside her current fixation of breaking Cavendish’s legs and probably then proceeding to blast him with enough celestial blasts that he’s naught but a charred shadow that remained on the crater she creates during the act, the tiefling really wanted help the people here deal with the rather obvious evil that was infesting this otherwise pleasant town. Still as Marita gave the girl a gift of silver weapon to protect herself, the dancer quickly went through her traveling bags in search of something to help also.

After some rustling and shuffling about things in her bag, Kosara pulled out a smaller bag, well it was close to a satchel size and gave out metal clangs as she moved it about. She offered it to the younger girl also.” With Marita giving you a gift for protection, I think this will help you also, especially if you want to hide yourself. This is a bag of caltrops. Sharp metal things that are dropped on the ground to hinder people from moving over. When you hide up, scatter them in front of the entrance. If something tries to come through, it will hurt itself or at least make noise and buy you time.” She told Liz with a smile. It wasn’t as grand a gift as the silvered dagger, but she didn’t have silvered weapons on her and giving her Grandpa’s sword wouldn’t do her a good thing. For one it was a big sword, especially for Lizbeth’s size, given how big the dagger looked in her hands. That and the sword that Kosara carried was magical and bound to her.

Now with everything done and over with, the revelation that the note wasn’t from Cecily, made Kosara’s anger boil even more. Ohh she wasn’t going to leave much from those buggers if she had the chance. This evil was going to be extinguished to last and least, if she had anything to say and do about it!” Ohh, we are going to he...” Kosara’s reassurance was cut short when a loud boom echoed from something seemingly hitting the front wall by the door with quite the force.

“...”

“Alright, that is it! I’m coming out and if you’re one of those bastards, I’m going to make you eat so many celestial blasts that nothing will be left of you!” Kosara growled and stormed towards the front door, her sword now in hand, anger and fury boiling. It was a fair assessment to state that the childishly behaving tiefling was majorly pissed off now, still she was wary and ready to spring into action should something tries to attack her when she opens the door, so without wasting much more time she grabbed the door handle, gave a look to the others to see if they were prepared, having remembered that she wasn’t alone and that Liz was with them, so she didn’t yank it open right away, but she was about to do it as soon as she confirmed people were ready for it and that Liz was protected.

Alright, all things being equal and honest, Kosara was feeling rather unusually off with this place and situation. It was so different from anything she had experienced in her life so far and it showed. Well most things were different from what she knew, being this far from home, but still. Ever since she left the desert, this was the first time she really wished to have Grandpa’s advice, but he was NOT here. He was far, far away and she had no way of reaching him on the moment, unless he decides to reach out first. Back home it was easy, she’d just run to his place in the desert, or ride a camel or even get somebody to bring her over, but here? Yeah she was far from home and while not alone, the white tiefling was away from all sources of advice she usually relied on.

Thus she was out of the B&B, unsure how to proceed as she stared daggers into the fog and the moon that actually resembled cheese if she was thinking about it really hard, but focus on the fog and the dastardly evil critters that may or may not be lurking, she really wanted to set something aflame. This wouldn’t ever happen in the desert! There was not enough water for fog there! After a bit more of a time of glaring into the fog as of daring anything to try to come over and have a taste of her fancy golden rays of doom and retribution, she huffed, puffed, pouted and walked into the B&B, putting out the torch with a flicker of movement for the cantrips she had cast on it prior. A quick Prestidigitation and the fire was out, the Thaumaturgy going away as soon as the fire was no more to affect.

She made it inside just in time to hear the confession of horror from the young woman that they had befriended and the fact that their older friend was gone under some frankly suspicious circumstances. Alright that was not a good thing, not good at all, Cecily was gone and if something evil wasn’t the cause, Kosara was going to eat a regular sandwich! Her eyes glided across the place, resting on the door as she eyed it like a hawk, before turning her gaze to Kathryn and then looking over at each of the group she had found herself with. She quickly pondered what would her grandpa do in this case and what he would advice her to do. He himself would probably just charge off to confront craven Cavendish, his cronies and whatever it is that gives him power. He’d probably advice her to be careful and not put herself in needless danger, but in the end he’d agree that helping people was more important and doubly so people you consider friends. No friend left behind.

“Hmmm… I say we go get some answers from the one person we know has them.” She finally stated and stretched her limbs for a moment.” I say enough is enough and maybe we should go with the alter plan we talked about to go and have a bit of a meeting, doubly so since invitations has been… forced upon us. If I don't do something about this, Grandpa would be disappointed in me, I can't have that.”

“Mhm, I will take this for now. Let's see.” She quipped as their dearest Harry brought out a map for them to use. This saved them a runaround town to locate a map to use. Of course it wasn’t a perfect one, but it was going to be better than spending the rest of the day digging through the libraries in town and the university to find a perfectly suitable map. Once on the road they could ask locals… Probably. This was Arkham and it’s surroundings, Ellie long since had accepted that people here are just plain weird in the weirdest ways possible. Though she too lived here… anyways onto the case! She eyed the map and roughly where they had to go. This was going to be an experience.

“Well, time to get going then.” Eleonora stated and stood up, having finished the last of her cigarette, so she extinguished the butt of it in the ashtray and headed out of Harry’s office, map being gently folded in her hands as she did so. Outside of the grumpy man’s office, there was the lovely Henrietta. She gave the secretary a lovely smile as she walked over to her desk.

“I’m really sorry, love. It appears job takes us out of the city for a while.” She apologized to the woman.” I’m not abandoning future plans for a coffee, but maybe after we return from this case?” Ellie suggested in her french accented voice.” I will see if there’s any good souvenirs to be brought from this trip. In any case, look after Harry while we are away. He appeared a bit too negative today.” She gave a final smile, waiting to hear any reply as she picked her coat from the hanger, put it on, followed by her hat and then after hearing any answer for a future date/coffee from the secretary, she headed out the door, but not before a wink and a quick air kiss from the door.

“Alright now that we are to head out… who arrived in a car and who wants to drive?” Ellie asked in utmost seriousness as she stretched her arms a bit, before patting the folded up map.” It’s appears to be a rather long drive away along the Miskatonic river. I’m pretty sure we will have to eventually also ask locals for directions to find that place if it’s not well annotated along the road signs. As I said, I’m willing to pay for the fuel, so it indeed goes down to who’s going to drive. Keep in mind it looks like it will be hours, quite a few hours of driving. We might arrive late into the day if not into the night, so we may do well to also procure some things for the road, something to drink or eat at the very least.”

“Yay, fire! Thank you!” Kosara cheerfully blew out the lil candle she had just lit up, stuffing it away and grabbing the torch from Kathryn instead. She now had the ‘Flaming Club of Destiny’. Or maybe a flaming cudgel would be a better title… In any case, with a nice lit torch of burning wrath in hand, Kosara was happily looking around. They now had lights and lights were good given the situation. Mists weren’t making anything easy or nice, but on the upturn they had something to combat the mists and darkness with. Then out of nowhere, the white tiefling had a revelation… Her eyes focused on the torch in her hand, knowledge raced through her mind, memories that sometimes she remembered and other times forgot, a quick whispered words of power and a Thaurmaturgical minor wonder was brought into existence, quickly followed by a second one as the flames dancing upon her torch shifted into hues of gold and grew brighter. And just like this she now had the Advanced Flaming Club of Destiny.” Let’s go!” The dancer was very happy with her better torch and planned to maintain it for the time being.

As they got closer to the B&B there was a loud scream that filled the air from afar. Kosara couldn’t exactly say how far and from where, partially because of the fog and how it carried the noise. In any case it was probably from somewhere around town. Kosara nearly jumped out of her skin when it happened and looked frantically around for a bit, but eyes narrowed and growled, peering at the mists, promising lot’s of dead rats later. Maybe they should bring in cats to hunt all the rats later. Yeah that was an idea, though kicking some wererats butts was also a good thing to do! When Lizbeth opened the door a bit and gave the news that Cecily was not present, something heavy settled into the pit at Kosara’s stomach. THAT was not a good news, in fact it was very bad news.

Kathryn was as expected the big reassuring (half) giant that apparently made the girl feel just reassured enough to allow the door to open and for the warrior to enter. Kosara nodded and gave a bit of a reassuring smile from the doorway as she turned around, peering into the misty darkness around them, trying to see if there were any dangers and to just be ready in case something does try to jump out of it. She had a mighty stick of fiery destiny to whack it with! That or a Celestial Blast. If Kosara was to be honest, she couldn't wait for the moment where she had an actual target to attack. Evil was surely lurking, they just had to find it... or it had to show itself really. Kahtryn was NOT saving any of em this time around. Ratmen were going be deadmen... them and anybody else who was in on the evil.

With everybody assembling, she recognized some faces, others not quite as much, though that could have been her general state of mind and body at any given time. Still some had a few good ideas or information to give to the curious situation they had at their hands. She chuckled softly and took a deep drag from her cigarette, listening to all the opinions. Collaborating what they knew of their target of investigation with the general way things went was about right. Suspicious former(more than likely) priest, had a good idea that it was quite a long wait for the Man to start searching for their target. Though it wouldn’t surprise her, rich people were with their own eccentricities and if he was a known explorer and a man that liked to go out there and away from contact every now and then, it would make some sense they wouldn’t be too worried at first. Ellie looked at their ol' pal Harry.

“Harry, dear, I meant TIME in general.” She chuckled, taking another drag of her nicotine source of choice and gave the two documents a quick look over. The things didn’t reveal much, though it certainly put a spin on the situation. A convenient spin anyways and anybody that lived in this blasted city and it’s surroundings should know that convenient things were a lie. Well they should know it, but men are pretty easy to convince to just accept things at face value and not ask questions about the suspicious most of the times, especially so away form the big city.” Thank you for the advice, Harry. We really should, never discount anybody as a suspect ever.” She quipped in a nod, making a mental attempt at calculation exactly what it would cost to travel to their location. She could get one of her lover’s underlings to drive her over, just rent a car or buy a bus ticket there… or given it was a group assignment, one of her colleagues could drive her. ” So anyone here willing to drive us there or should we arrange for transport? I’m willing to cover fuel expenses.” She stated flatly.

“Eldorado...” She began flatly, looking at the professor.” Isn’t that the place that all those idiots with way too much time and money go to search only to die to the dangers of the jungles they venture into ever since those Spaniards heard it from locals all that time back? If that’s his favorite pasttime, I’d guess we are looking at a guy with a death wish, even more if he made it back.” Eleonora stated in sarcasm and amusement, taking a deep drag from her cigarette.” If he made it back and hasn’t written anything that means he either believes he has a clue and is keeping quiet or has given up, and rich and adventurous don’t give up.”

“Look, I say we get going. It will be a decent trek there and we’re already weeks behind him and whatever he probably got himself into.” Ellie stated and stood up, finishing the last of her cigarette and extinguishing the butt in the ashtray.” We are going to have hours to exchange idea and make theory while we travel.”

“Hmmm, sure!” Kosara pipped up at their newly resident dragonborn’s request for glowing sword too. So without doing much thinking she hopped and skipped over to him and placed a hand on his sword where the handle and the guard were, channeling the mystical energies of gold, muttering something and going through the motions before unleashing the cantrip on the sword! With a sudden flash it began glowing brightly golden instead as her own sword quickly lost it’s shine and she blinked.

“… I forgot! You can only keep a light spell on a single object!” She stated in sudden realization, looking at her now distinctly not glowing in heroic way scimitar.” Ehh doesn’t matter, it’s still good the way it is.” She stated happily and pointed it towards the sky in happy way. Let it not be said that Kosara is not looking on the sunshine side of life. She was completely seemingly ignoring noises that might be happening around them for now at least.

“Marita, I forgot that only one light can be up! For some reason prior ones just go out.” Kosara blinked at her cleric friend and looked at the shield then at the monk’s sword and back at the shield.” The shield wins!” She jumped over to the cleric and repeated the motion with her shield instead, switching the light for a third time in such a small span of time to the big now shiny shield with a sun on it.” It’s fitting! The sun must shine! Praise the sun!”

In any case as they moved and had an eventual brief chance to glimpse through the fog there were a lot of red eyes. Those eyes made Kosara stare at the fog, tilting her head looking intensely into the fog as if she could see through it. She couldn’t, but it didn’t stop her from looking at it! At least until Mr Mallard opened his door and began distributing the goods… gear… goods… yes.” Hey, Mr Mallard! Look after yourself tonight, alright!” Kosara cheerfully greeted him when he showed up.

Finally when he closed the door and barricaded himself again, they were alone out on the street and presumably surrounded by things with beady red eyes swarming all around them just beyond the reach of the lights. Well with nothing to do, she sheathed her scimitar and pulled a candle out of her bag.” So… anyone has torches? I never got any cause I never needed them in the past.” Kosara quipped as she cast a quick prestidigitation on the candle to light it up.” The Light spell was usually enough for me if I had to go anywhere in the dark and candles was all I needed indoors otherwise...” The candle really wasn’t sending much light around them given the magical glowing shield that they had.
