They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

at a guild hall in Shebar

Elian glanced again at the area chat. Oh hey, look at that. Some Goibniu_the_Waylander was looking for a healer and a tank. She grinned, downed the rest of her cider, and got to her feet, sweeping her fans off the table and into her hand as she did. She pinged Goibniu in the area chat with a reply:

Elian Zefra: Healer here. I'd love to go for a small-group dungeon. Any level up to A. I'm at the main guild hall. Come find me!

She was a B-rank adventurer, closing in on A rank, but helping people with lower levels was fine by her. Not every run needed to be a challenge. She didn't have long to wait, either. A voice saying the exact same thing as the post caught her ear. The source was sphynx -- a purchased skin for centaurs. Not many players went for centaurs, but there were some. Elian wondered how it would feel to have an extra pair of legs and how the VR interface handled the sensations just about every time she saw one.

"Oi! Goibniu, yeah?" she called, waving one hand to attract his attention. "I'm Elian. Let's find a tank and get rolling, shall we?"
@vietmyke probably.

at a guild hall in Shebar

Elian sat at a table in Shebar's main guild hall, listening to the chatter around her with half a pointed ear. Most of the rest of her attention was firmly on those clustered around the notice board, though she spared a glance at the area chat every now and again. As a healer and support caster, she rarely lacked for people wanting to group up. It was just a matter of finding a good group. Her fans lay folded on the table in front of her, next to the mug of mulled cider she was nursing.

The most interesting recent rumor was about a human jester PvPing for no reason, kill-stealing bosses, and getting up to other poor-sport tricks. Word was, the admins couldn't trace the account, and so couldn't ban it.

Definitely someone to watch out for, Elian thought to herself. Every game had its trolls, and it seemed Tales of Endoroth was no exception.

Fortunately the community of ToE was, for the most part, a friendly one. She'd been playing since near the beginning and major issues like this were by no means common. The admins were attentive, interacting with the community and receptive to feedback. The game had become wildly popular, and had players all over the globe. Unfortunately, the larger the player base, the more likely it was that trolls would crop up.

Hopefully she wouldn't have to deal with this particular one.
@Eviledd1984 nah, we don't need to have been in that raid. Word of mouth will spread the news pretty fast. It's a good mystery, that's for sure. <3
@Eviledd1984 hmm. Not much of a jumping off point in your post for the rest of us, unless we were in that raid party. I guess I'll start at a guild hall in Shebar. No reason not to.
@Izurich Yeah, I'm a little worried too...but hopefully Jason will be back. I definitely had a lot of fun writing with you guys. ^.^

Hero Three

Austin's words of reassurance helped a lot, and Amuné gave him a smile in return. "Thanks, Austin." Unfortunately for her, his words did little to help with the sense of impending danger that she had for Jareth. She wanted to go help, but her powers weren't exactly ideal for fighting. She was more of an information gatherer than a frontliner. So she sat in anxious silence.

After a while Joseph returned to the room -- and almost at the same time Amuné received Alisa's alert that Lab Rat was asking for help at the Fixeon plant. That decided the young hero. "I'm going to back up the others at the plant," she said, getting to her feet. "It seems like they're dealing with a lot more terrazards than anticipated. Joseph...you coming? I can drive you, if you don't have a ride." She frowned when the older hero turned her down, but let it go.

"Lab Rat, Oracle here. I'm on my way to the plant, but it's going to be a hot minute before I get there."
@Eviledd1984 have a good vacation!

Hero Three

Amuné plopped herself down into a seat next to Austin, wrapping her arms around her elbows an tucking her head. The young hero was upset, that was easy enough to tell from her body language. She knew Austin was busy, but then again, he could multitask like nobody's business. So, after the ICOSA staff had left the room, she started talking. "Austin, have you heard of Sudden Onset Metahuman Psychosis?" she asked quietly, voice subdued. It was a mostly rhetorical question. If it existed, he'd probably heard of it. "The doctor thinks I'm at risk for it. And she's probably right -- that's her specialty, after all." Amuné took an unsteady breath. "I don't want to go crazy. But what kind of person has no attachments?!" She unwrapped her arms long enough to pull her knees up to her chest, burying her face in them. Voice muffled, she continued, "And even if I did quit being a hero, I'd still be at high risk. Just having family and friends is a risk!" Even now, the tiny feeling in the back of her head that said Jareth was in danger was active. She'd known he would be -- terrazards were smart, fast, and deadly; how could he not be at risk fighting them? "What the hell am I supposed to do?"

Fixeon Municipal Recycling Plant

Jareth managed to kill some of the terrazards, but the lizards just kept coming. He was starting to be overwhelmed and need to retreat when Luna called to group up. He moved towards her, gathering a bunch of small rocks with his power and spinning them around, sending them one at a time into the skulls of lizards. It wasn't as efficient as a sinkhole, but there were just too many 'zards to deal with efficiently. With Luna and Mire in the lead, the bulk of them were getting destroyed, leaving him and the others to pick off the ones that they missed.

He worked quietly but diligently, gathering more stones as he went. He could get them up to a good speed, enough to smash the skulls of the terrazards, but he needed space to do so. That meant Jareth placed himself towards the middle of what would hopefully be a team of heroes moving forward together. Damn, why didn't Hero do teambuilding exercises? It was hard to predict the movements of people you barely knew, much less work effectively with them as a team. And with this many 'zards, they needed to be an effective team!
