I had this idea before work, so I had to throw it out before getting ready!
So I watched some fun builds for Sims 4 newest pack Life and Death, and honestly, I was inspired. This is going to be very Addams family and Tim Burton coded. Light-hearted, fun, but also dark.
Supernatural stuff is my bread and butter. People living their every day lives, unaware that things that go bump in the night are very much real and are right under their noses.
The story idea that I have is just surface level stuff. My character is a girl who is currently in college and had grown up in a foster home, only just recently being fully and legally independent. She had no family, and she lived her life thinking that she was either abandoned or that there is no one that she can reach out to. She had always felt like she was different from her peers either because of how she lived during her childhood, or because there's something different and quite peculiar about her that even she is unaware of.
However, she would be eventually have a strange invitation - either a strange man or something as maybe an owl coming to her dorm room with a letter, she is addressed by name, and that her real family had finally found her and they're in a different state. Hopeful and ecstatic, she is ready to go during her summer break to visit these people.
Now, there are two options: this is her real family and they will also send her proof of it. OR this is an organization that presents itself as a family, where they are gathering supernatural creatures or people with supernatural affinities, and they forge the proof of them being her family. My character is indeed a person with supernatural affinities.
When my character arrives, she would be greeted at the massive mansion that seems a little dark, but there are many members of the family who welcome her. They would tell her that a tragedy happened around the time she was born and that a lot of family members have been separated forcefully, and that only now they're gathering. However, that's just scratching the surface - this place has many secrets.
The foyer of the mansion has two large staircases that seem to lead to the same second story hallway, but instead it leads to completely different parts of the house, they have a small chapel in the back of the estate with a secret staircase that leads into an old-fashioned speakeasy where vampires, skeletons, ghosts and other forms of undead gather. Haunted rooms, moving paintings, sentient objects. Secret societies of witches and warlocks that gather some objects and artifacts that seek out "the truth", a lot of friendly and playful dogs which are in fact werewolves that can shift into different lupine forms. Secret rooms, mazes, knight statues where one only speaks the truth and another only tells lies, and of course, many other things. Make it fun and creative.
The mansion is not the center of the activities as the supernatural beings are all over the city, but it is "The Headmaster's" home. The Headmaster in question is someone who keeps an eye on everyone and makes sure that the secret is safe. He is THE GUY in the supernatural society, so his mansion ends up being the hotspot.
I have no exact ideas for the plot, but I am mainly thinking about what had happened with MC in the past, what is her nature and what's "the tragedy" that everyone speaks off. More or less, the story is about uncovering the truth, but also including a lot of whimsical and fun side characters that come and go. I will have my main character whose story is centered around, and other characters that will come around the story. Your main character is entirely up to you, as well as what type of side characters you want to play.
My expectations for my writing partners:
Detailed posts, the length doesn't matter as much as long as there's actually good content within the post
Preferably writers who are 21+, mature and comfortable with many mature themes, as I don't like to avoid/censor/fade to black anything
Romance is always welcome, but here it's not as necessary
Hypothetically are you willing to play against a Nosferatu, a Tzimisce, a Baali, or someone equally monstrous? Or, for lack of a more elegant way of asking this, does your partner's main character have to be sexually desirable/romantically desirable/"hot"?
Hey there, I am totally open to these clans! I do have preference for the monstrous and the non-conventionally attractive anyway :) my DMs are open for further discussion!
Please don't message me with any offers or ideas that does not reflect what I am requesting. See the bulletpoints for important information.
I will not waste anyone's time and get to the point. Spooky season is coming upon us - gloomy and grey weather, morning fogs, that unfogriving morning chill and pouring rain. As a gothic soul, I have been drowning myself with Type o Negative, Queen of the Damned playlist (forsaken, system and slept so long are in constant repeat), The Cure, Massive Attack, The Sisters of Mercy, Kidneythieves, and some other unpopular artists and metal bands, and I am just ITCHING for a good vampire roleplay - story in the modern and older versions of Vampire the Masquerade stories (I did not like the recent updates of tabletop because it lost the edge and grittiness, just not interested in the bigotry and the content that aged like milk)
I want partners who love dark, edgy and gritty themes for modern setting, that gothic and punk grit, the unforgiving world, dangerous character, fight for survival and psychological torment of an immortal creature that is caught in between of the battle that is greater than any individual in question and the battle to maintain one's sense of reason and humanity.
My strongest trait is digging into more psychological and emotional depths of a character, I put a lot of thought and love into it. You will see what I mean in my hider.
A DM would be preferable. I am lately in the mood to be put on the spot, challenged, willing to be punished when I make a mistake and more than eager to relish in rewards - I'll be your pawn and experiment, don't go easy on me. If we do VtM, would love to sink our teeth into the lore, something akin to that y2k edgy vibe. I want drama, violence and action, true to the source of Bloodlines. Interactions with many characters and dangerous situations.
I have an open idea for a plot, its going to be a bit of a word vomit as I'm writing this on my phone, but please bear with me.
The plot is taking place in large and popular city of the US of our choosing. The main plotline of the story is that a well renown agent of the Camarilla who is also a powerful Kindred had been Diablerized. In the Camarilla society, this is punished by execution. The main story revolves around the mystery of who may be the perpetrator: is it a member of the Sabbat, as they are known to partake in such actions and they have been causing hell in the streets. Could it possibly be the Anarchs taking extreme measures, finally succumbing to desperation? Maybe it was somebody betraying Camarilla, their own peers? Or perhaps it could be a very ambitious Caitiff or Thin-blood enacting revenge upon the Camarilla?
Whoever it is, it's someone my character would eventually know in the story, completely oblivious to the fact that this is someone who is dangerous and powerful.
And to make the matters worse the hunters got a whiff that something dangerous is happening in the Kindred society and want to exploit the weaknesses.
MC is one of the victims of the attack, where the Sabbat vampires had ambushed and taken careless people who ended up being at a wrong place and wrong time, performing a Mass Embrace. The fledgling vampires would be tossed out into the streets soon after, leaving them with zero answers and apparently to fend for themselves. However, it seemed that this faction had done something to these fledgling, turning them into sleeping agents quite possibly having blood bonds with them, fully intending to control them in secret and from afar.
MC befriends one of the fledglings and they end up in the middle of a war that is completely unknown to regular humankind in this day and age. My character stands out for whatever reason (plot armor and shit like that) and she ends up getting into the situations where she's encountering Anarchs who want to help the fledglings and want to use them to fight against the Camarilla, Sabbat basically wanting to control them almost as if these fledglings are "sleeper agents", while also Camarilla capturing her but keeping her alive as they're trying to find a link just who was behind all this, and of course, the hunters who are trying to find the way to breach into the Kindred society and find the best ways to infiltrate them.
The idea is petty big, but I like slow world-building in character, starting very simple, with flabbergasted and terrified fledglings who are trying to understand everything, breaking links to their human lives, which is devastating, and the bigger picture is progressively being introduced in a way that is not overwhelming, but organic and satisfying.
The writing sample for your convenience!
When a true, famous and beloved classic play is announced at the National Theater, it becomes like a rat race to get the tickets in matter of 24 hours. Especially when a big name, especially as fresh as Rosalie's was, is starring in such crucial play such as Shakespearean's Hamlet.
Rosalie played none other than Ophelia, the dutiful daughter whose fate was sealed by her lover and his action led her into madness that drowned her in the lake.
And she was beautiful. Rosalie's iconic, long hair was styled in curls and in each scene, Ophelia wore beautiful white dresses, layered with lace, corsets and frills. Whenever Rosalie made an appearance, she dominated the stage, despite there being another Kindred at the stage. Rosalie lived and breathed for the theater and drama. Not only was it the gift of Toreador that would plague every single individual to behold her like this, but it was who Rosalie was to her core. Since her mortal days, Rosalie dreamed of being where she was today. Full of grace, gentleness and femininity. Her nature was so deceitful, to think that she is the predator of the night. A true beautiful rose that hid poisonous thorns beneath the lush red petals...
Ophelia's behavior at first was as one would expect of a lady's noble status. But the more Hamlet's machinations began to plague the stage, where Ophelia was torn between being a good daughter and to be supportive of her future husband. And slowly, Rosalie perfectly began to transition the behavior of dutiful and respectable Ophelia into one that was strange, slightly out of pocket and often she seemed like she wasn't all there.
Rosalie had sensed a presence that did not fit the aura of Kindred or humans. And during the strange episodes of Ophelia, where she was like a dreamy loon , until her perceptive and artistic eye caught a glimpse of an imposing shadow in the background. She knew immediately who it was. She could just barely make out the details of his outfit and the face. But she knew that Evan had come.
He never left her mind after that night. She still has the invisible imprint of his touch on her throat from the last time she saw him. What a strange feeling she had formed towards this particular Garou. He had to have come to see her. To spy on her. Whether he came to observe her, the agent of Camarilla, or her, the Rosalie he hesitated to kill, it mattered not. There was this strange feeling of joy within her to know that he had come to see her. Because deep down, she knew that he would come. She did not know how, but something within her told her that she would see him again.
The display of Ophelia's madness perfectly mirrored Rosalie's own. She would sing of her filtered troubles, holding a rose by the thorns and showing the red blood to the audience. Use of Blush of Life prevented Rosalie from revealing crimson tears as Ophelia's soft anguish began to take hold after her father's death. Hamlet's own madness plagues her own, but his own desire for vengeance and drive to do as he willed had Ophelia to pay dearly with her sanity and soon her life.
Despair showed at the final scene in which she showed. Rawest form of melancholy, as she was softly humming in the now dimmed stage. The orchestra beneath the stage stopped playing to let the soft melodic hums of Ophelia envelop the heavy silence. A melody that only she knew. Haunting, distant, broken. And her green eyes were absent from the moment. She was like a ghost. This was the only scene in Hamlet that was silent, without anyone talking or music.
The melody she hummed was a lullaby that she had come up with each night as she held her world in her arms. A bundle of purity, sinless creature that held on to her finger as it drifted asleep to the soothing voice while being rocked back and forth.
The theater stage now was surrounded by fake trees, hanging moss, as she was now no longer in the premises of her estate. At the center of the stage, right in front of Ophelia, there was a large, blue pile of veil.
Ophelia was staring at one point in the distance, staring through the audience as the spotlight only illuminated her and the veil before her. Tears strolled down her cheeks as she continued to hum a melody that played inside her head, while white veiled figured started to silently gather around Ophelia, but they stayed away from the spotlight. They were like shadows that carried flowers.
The scene was far too visceral despite nothing happening in the moment. Rosalie's acting here was way too raw. Because this was once her reality. It was were her life ended. This was why Ophelia was so important to her. Rosalie 300 years ago would not be able to fully process just how important Ophelia would be to her.
While Ophelia was on the stage, staring into nothing, in her mind, Rosalie was in Paris, her home. Beloved Paris late that fateful night. She stood on the stone railing of the bridge, right above the river Seine. Like Ophelia, she felt no fear. Not for herself. The resolution was necessary. It was the most selfless act that she could do in order to save the one she loved more than herself.
The river beneath her raged. It was calling down to her, promising to take away all of the problems just the way it would take away her body. While Rosalie was looking down at the murky river, Ophelia was looking down at the veil as the veiled white figures tossed flowers inside, the same flowers that Ophelia would pick or make flower crowns throughout the play, as if to lure her.
Then, Ophelia became silent. No sound filled the theater as the white and veiled figures stepped to the blue veil and unraveled it. And as they did, the veil looked as if it was a raging river untangling, spreading across the entirety of the stage, in front and around Ophelia, who stood there, motionless and with her face and gaze empty. She looked lifeless and cold as the veiled figures finally approached her. In that silence, the figures began to wrap Ophelia in the veil, spinning her and covering her head to toe, as if the moving water was carrying her body away.
Rosalie closed her eyes, feeling her chest caving in in that moment. It was a perfect memory of that leap she had made. The river was merciless. It carried her body as if she was just a father, tossing and turning her around. She remembered the final moments when fear took over finally, when it was too late. The way her heart was beating in panic. It was thrumming so hard against her chest. Even when she tried to scream, her lungs were invaded by the water, suffocating and silencing her forever.
Alone and cold. A prostitute facing up in the water, eyes open and staring at the starry sky and lips open as if she was trying to sigh for air. Her pretty dress and hair waving in the now calm waves of the river. All red in the murky waters of Paris. Unmistakable and forgotten memory just resting there.
She was a beautiful corpse. She was a sight to behold even in death. And it was that melancholic and tragic beauty that gave her a chance to live once more, awakening in the arms of her former client, a painter, that frequently visited her. Rosalie almost mistook him for an angel that wanted to take her away from all the pain and suffering she had endured, not knowing that she was being dragged into a worse hell that she could never dream of.
But Ophelia was not so lucky. She was now lifelessly wrapped in veil and carried by the three veiled figures, while the other two placed flowers onto her wrapped body.
The silence was overwhelming as the lights dimmed, ending the chapter, cementing the absolute finality of the scene. It was the most impactful scene of the play, one that had went viral in the aftermath. Quickly it was deemed the most impactful scene in theater history, taking the world by storm as it evoked so many emotions to all of the viewers, yet little did they know that they were witnesses to the actress' death. One they revered and loved so much. Celebrating the misery that haunted her for centuries.
Rosalie made the final appearance in the play once all the actors gathered to bow and thank the crowd for attending. Rosalie's smile was big and radiant as always, almost as if this was just another day at the office for her.
Though she did feel a little bit exposed knowing that a Garou had the chance to unknowingly witness something so raw and important to her. Despite it being impossible for him to know what all of this meant for her, it was still a fact that she exposed so much of herself to the world and to the enemies.
Nobody in the world knew what she had gone through. The pain she had to endure. In the world of Kindred, there's no such thing as support or emotional connection to cope with loss of humanity and everything that it meant to one.
I am sticking to the idea that my character is a fledgling vampire trying to make sense of the new reality while she's being surrounded by other characters and figures who already are in the game for quite a while. They may be her friends, foes or players who use her as a pawn, all the while she is trying to find her place and purpose. Her clan is up for debate, all I know is that she is a goth chick, a troubled university student and that THIS is a faceclaim I chose for her. Everything else is up for us to build on together.
Like I said, use my character as a pawn and experiment. If I don't feel emotionally involved and stressed out from the story, then that means it's not a good story.
Important information and some non-negotiables:
As someone who can give you multiple paragraphs that can drip with detail, I require someone who can match that energy - which is a non-negotiable.
Please in your first message bombard me with ideas and details, writing sample is a must and is non-negotiable.
I will give you patience and I would appreciate patience in return. I at least can post once a week (unless life decides to mess with me, then I may take a bit of a break), but I am always here to OOC. If there will be delays in posting, informing OOCly is a non-negotiable requirement. I don't care about ghosting, I just wanna know if this is worth my time.
I am gone during the weekend and sometimes even on fridays. If I don't post or even inform you OOCly that I'm off, don't worry, I'm just focusing on real life aspects and I'll be back on monday! But generally I will manage to give you a report of my status.
Romance? YES! I am a sucker for romance, either if its fate monogamous relationship or a polyamorous situation, which I see being the point here. But I don't want to make it a focus of the story, as I prefer it to build up organically, and if there's multiple characters in question, I will let characters work on their dynamics in character.
I am generally interested in heterosexual romantic/sexual relationships, however on few instances I have tapped into other sexualities if my partners want to go into other territories. I just make an exception that the main pairing is heterosexual though, as it's what I'm natural at personally.
Smut? Yes! I like it in detail and not fade-to-black - HOWEVER! I DON'T WANT IT TO BE THE GOAL OR THE FOCUS OF THE STORY/RELATIONSHIP!!!!! Smut is a bonus to a relationship and maybe even a plot device. I see smut as this - it's not the cake or cream, it's the necessary icing that comes at the very end when the rest of the cake was ready. No rushing, no forcing, no non-con stuff or sexual violence, everything else is on the table!
I'm open to doing character sheets, stats and dice rolls! Other detailed technicalities are up for debate, but I would prefer something simplified and quick.
No need to hold back with me. If you're a fan of the idea of doing a gritty story of vampires out in the streets causing havoc, I'm your gal and lay it all on me. I will be honest if I don't like something and I want you to be honest with me, too. This is a hobby and we should both enjoy it and I want you to feel like you can tell me anything that comes to your mind, because that's what I want to do as well!
