it was good! In hindsight, I maybe should've had Adam tell James a part of his plan, though the way you handled it works quite well. Maybe the guards and mages formerly under Adam's command can help James somehow, I dunno.

Don't worry dude! Also I am in the edge of my seat reading Adam incoming confrontation

ps, I am writting but If I don't finish my post tonight tommorow should be up
A little short but I didn't want to delay any more, thanks for the patience.

Where was Adam going?

The thought kept repeating again and again as the man ran away from the platform, the explosion earlier! Was he directed or was he acting on his own? Did it matter? He had half expected that something like this would happen, backstabbing was one of the Marquis's favorite moves for a reason. But now with Adam going there... should he support him? Unbidden his hand went to the handle of the anchor before he tore it away.

No, not yet.

Instead, he refocused on the battle, Kass was holding but Zell was worrying, they hadn't managed to get the materials for the ritual again and the sword was obviously affecting him. It made him angry, now it would be harder to separate him from that fucking thing.

"Agh!"

He felt himself flinch as the man closest to him was downed in an instant, an arrow sticking from one of his eyes, still open in horror. The bile rose from his stomach but was pushed down thanks to the experience half of him possessed, distraction was death and he couldn't afford to lose more people.

Then it happened in an instant, some unseen point tipped and more towers made contact, melee units advanced and the fighting became furious. Now the lives of his friends were being targeted.

It was time.

Both hands went to the handle of the anchor with his holy symbol grasped tightly.

"I call to you Lord Undaya, Ruler of the seas and King of the ocean, bestow upon us your blessing, to be as cold and unwavering as you are in the deep below!"

Once, twice the anchor hit the platform, a simple tap but he could feel the ripples of faith, similar to throwing a rock in a lake. It was the third trap that saw his anchor striking the floor of the platform with considerable force, sending the generated ripples of faith towards each of his party members, he hadn't noticed it before but with the last days learning of Hacking some things started to make sense with context, now he could guess the party system ingrained in their Crystals was helping guide his Blessing towards his party members almost effortlessly.

He just hoped they received it in time.

His attention returned to the fighting, and his Light Beam joined the magic being thrown around, they were close to another tipping point, he could feel it.

Now they just had to resist.

A swing of his anchor took the head of another ghoul.

The moment the head went flying he let the momentum continue until the anchor touched the platform, he remembered how easy Arthur could swing the thing and couldn't help but feel envy. He wasn't tired yet but there was a weariness on his muscles that came from the effort, the spars against Zell had helped him figure out a baseline for his physical condition and there was a slight amount of fear inside him that the siege would continue after he reached his limit. Casting his Light Beam to attack the Corpse Dropper hadn't helped but he knew that the longer it kept in the air the enemy would have an advantage.

As he rested he took a moment to assess the situation.

His first priority was his party members, the closest to him was Adam who was on a platform similar to him, with his eyes closed. The beam attack earlier had been a show and a half and if he was to guess the man was likely using his plant control to do something, he trusted him enough to know he was doing his best, around him were some militia forming a protective circle around him. Next were Zell and Kass, they were easy to identify, each commanding their own squad and defending from the enemy directly, the urge to cast a Blessing grew within him but he held it back, not yet. With some difficulty, he spotted Fenna and Maz next, the Archer units were given favorable positions to rain hell, and by the looks of it that was exactly what they were doing.

He couldn't see Clive or Alison, which worried him more than he was willing to admit.

As much as he wanted he couldn't let that distract him, a single tower had been dismantled, with the ram halted it meant the ground troops would have to escalate to the towers to invade, which was bad seeing how they were doing just that.

The situation was bad, yes, but not unsalvagable yet.

With the Coprse Dropper down they could get some metaphorical air to breathe, as long as it was dead.

"You and you" He signaled to a militia soldier and a light mage "Make sure the Corpse Dropper is dead, if it isn't inform the closest ally, if you think you both can take it do so" He could see the hesitation in their eyes, but he knew the right words to move them, no matter how despicable they made him feel "Valheim is counting on you"

The moment the words registered both straightened up, hesitation and determination in their gazes before both of them moved towards the fallen enemy after giving a nod.

He watched them go before turning his attention towards the messenger cowering near a wall, he was... uncomfortably young, looking like he belonged in a school rather than in an ongoing siege, it was clear that he would rather be anywhere else. When he had been assigned to the platform during the planning he didn't comment, as much as he detested the idea with the communications down there was a necessity to be fulfilled by manpower. But that was then and this was now.

"Boy!" The young teen looked towards him despite the general chaos "Go towards Clarissa Shields and wait for her to send you back with news, run!"

The boy didn't wait for a second before scurrying along, taking with him some of the worry filling his heart, one less thing to take into account.

"Light and Dark Domain, switch to supporting the defenders, don't let them get overwhelmed! Earth and water, delay the other towers as much as possible, Air and Fire work with the Archers!"

As long as nothing went wrong.
Posted, small post to get the ball rolling

The platform was wider than he thought it would be, it also felt more narrow than he thought it would feel. It was the nerves he could recognize, for more than a week they had been preparing for this but for some reason, his dumb ass was caught blindsided the moment the alarms sounded to actually participate in the siege. It was funny, this wasn't his first siege but it was the first time he was on the defender's side, he couldn't say he was fond of it, unlike the nervous excitement that filled your body when you were an attacker for these last hours there were only anxiety and long periods of time sitting in silence, vigilant but with attention wavering every so often.

Already he had seen some people start to chafe, starting arguments or having quiet breakdowns in a corner.

If Zell was here he would have likely cracked a joke and improved the morale, if Mac or Fenna they would know what to say, if Kass or Clive were here their mere presence would reassure others, if Alisson was here she would probably share some obscure trick to calm the nerves.

But it was him here and he was speechless.

That is until the dead started raining from above.

He watched as the beast flew through the sky, a "Corpse Dropper" half his mind cursed, to have one of those things here... was Saladin really pulling some cards from his sleeve this early? No, it wasn't the time to think about that.

Instead, he grabbed his anchor and swung it at the closest ghoul, he had been too slow to create a barrier around his platform but he could correct the issue "To arms! Melee fighters kill the ghouls before they cause more damage! Light Domain bring down the Corpse Dropper! Earth and water target the troops! Everyone else go for the towers!"

The momentum was firmly in Saladin's grasp and they wouldn't be able to switch for now.

As much as he hated it the best option for now was to wait, this was just the opening move
