I've been wanting to do a Roman RP, but it is difficult to get them off the ground. I have been thinking of making an RP set in late antiquity based on a world where a unified Roman Empire survives long enough to face Islam, but i don't feel confident that there are enough period interested in that time period to justify it.
Well, the Eastern Roman Empire fought Islam didn't it? Came off pretty bad if I recall.
In fact, didn't we send the Crusaders over, because the Byzantine Emperor was like "yo, we're losing, and when we lose, then you Catholics are gonna get a face full of Islam"?
But yeah, the idea of a Western Roman Empire, or indeed, a totally Unified Empire (No Byzantium) would be interesting. I did a lot of research into the how the western Empire fell; poorly managed multiculturalism was a big factor, if memory serves. Also the whole pagan vs Christianity thing went down like a boat on fire full of orphans.
Your best bet, to make it simple, but also credible, is to inject a highly competent Western Emperor in 300-400 A.D who managed to reverse Rome's fortunes, stabilize the frontiers and the flagging economy, and who through political means reunited Rome with Constantinople. That way you haven't got to read through tonnes of history books to grasp the finite details of what went wrong, and why.
EDIT: Unless that's what you want to do; may take you a while though. In any case, I'll keep an eye on things and see how they develop.
May be interested in taking up Rommel's Afrika Korps, as a sort of "client state" to Germany, if that would be possible?
1st Lieutenant Horatio Grainer
Four miles east of the northern pelican crash site, island two.
Horatio clambered out of his drop pod with his chest full of fire, and his left leg feeling akin to broken glass. His landing had been rough; for a moment, he thought he wouldn't make it.
And as he put weight on his left leg, he momentarily wished he hadn't. The pain was mind numbing, like a bright crash of lightning.
"Son of a bitch," he muttered, switching his weight to his right leg.
Each breath caused a spider web of pain to span his torso, telling him he'd certainly cracked a rib or two. He hoped that was all he'd done; an internal injury would leave him shit out of luck.
Horatio tried to take his mind off the pain steadily encroaching on his body, and peered around. The environment was similar to a lush rainforest, like those found on earth. The sky above was blue and clear; a pale outline of a moon stood at its zenith. A few indigenous animals cawed and cooed in the background, reminding the getting-too-old-for-this-shit lieutenant of some kind of fictional paradise.
And then he heard the hum of a Type 25 Covenant dropship's engines, and it was getting louder by the second.
"Fuck," he sighed, gritting his teeth over the pain.
He instinctively reached for the radio attached to his left breast, but his hand came away holding shattered plastic and wires. He'd of launched another obscenity, but his chest was having none of it. Any more talking was going to put him in an early grave at this rate, and he wasn't much into the idea of cashing out early.
Not like those poor bastards on Reach.
Grabbing his M7S, which thankfully hadn't shared the same fate as his leg or his radio, Horatio hobbled away, and threw himself into some thick undergrowth just as the Type-25 crested the canopies surrounding his drop pod. It hovered there briefly, and the injured 1st lieutenant prayed to whatever deity would hear his calls: let them pass.
The Type-25's engines slowed to dull thrum, and the stiff Y-shaped dropship started to descend.
Horatio wasn't going to run; he couldn't. Instead he chose to lay low in the thick greenery, hoping for a moment that none of it harboured anything dangerous, and pulled back the receiver on his M7S. They'd either move on, or they'd find him; he was probably fucked in both cases.

Only Chernogorsk and the surrounding settlements are falling to the infected; the country is still functioning as a whole. There's plenty of life to save, take or protect.
Other than that, it looks good to me.
Not sure if this'll take off though, interest is a little lacking.
@Thang is using the wrong rank then, unless he means 1stLt, 2ndLt, Lieutenant colonel, or lieutenant general, that should be Captain rank...

@ClocktowerEchos Your armour is fine, it's on the marine side of things, but it looks sufficiently tactical to me. If this were casual/advanced, I might be a little more anal about it, but in a free RP I see little point in hounding people over little details like that. <-- used "little" three times in one sentence, that's some awesome writing right there, boo yah!
Oh, and you've spelt it "Corperal". Auto spell check has caught me out with that a few times as well. It's Corporal.
@Nallore@Thang Opinions about having a Katana for my character?
I've nothing against an ODST possessing some kind of ceremonial sword, or an unofficial armament (think the marine in Aliens with the 21st century pump action shotgun :P), but as Nallore has said, it'd be pretty ineffective against Elites and above. Not to mention, you'd have to get close to the Covenant first to use it, and depending on whether or not your guy is Grey Fox from MGS, you might have a hard time taking on aliens that bear weapons capable of melting your armour and flesh in one single hit.
So long as you don't go all rambo, I've not an issue with it.

I've got a couple of nit picky issues with your app, and they are:
1) Unless I'm mistaken, the guy is Russian, but has a Spanish name?
2) "has family history with Spetznaz" doesn't really come under appearance, move it to Other: instead :) Also, it's Spetsnaz (I didn't know it was spelt that way until a few weeks ago) but not that it really matters.
3) "Would rather sacrifice himself for the mission instead of getting shot" sound awfully similar to me :P You mean he would rather sacrifice himself for the mission, than die pointlessly? Who wouldn't? Have a go at re-wording it, just so's I know what you're talking about; use child speech if you have to, I aint half as smart as I sound.
4) Tone your rank down. A lieutenant colonel isn't going to be found wandering around with a sniper rifle; that's more of a command position. Depending on your character's prestige as a marksman, I'd aim for Lieutenant and below. Oh, sorry, FIRST Lieutenant and below.

As Co-Gm she/he has the same power as me in theory, although from experience I know co-gms tend to hesitate a little when it comes to exercising their full rights. Just know that if she/he boots you from the RP, I'm unlikely to get involved unless the situation demands it of me.
