"Daijoubu da wa." Miyuki replied softly, reassuring her fellow fox that she was ineed fine. She even did the little thing where you hold up an arm and flex your bicep - though in Miyuki's case, there wasn't much there to flex.

After receiving some TLC and giving her precious love-muffin a few gentle pats on the head though, Miyuki's eyes sharpened, her fingers curled and...

FLICK~!

Yumeiko was treated to a rather harsh forehead-flick, with the older fox spirit now putting her hands on her own hips and giving the golden-haired cutie an uncharacteristically stern look.

"There you go again with that bad habit of yours." She said, apparently either angry or annoyed now? "You wanted to help that girl, and she returned that goodwill by attacking me. How, exactly, my precious little floofbrain, is that your fault?" Miyuki folded and crossed her arms now, looking at Yumeiko as her many tails lazily and sluggishly squirmed. "I keep telling you this over and over. Everyone's responsible for him or herself and their own actions. All the evils of this world won't fit on those tender little shoulders of yours, so don't try to carry them."

This was a rare sight, to say the least. Usually it was Yumeiko who delivered the scoldings and the lectures and the unjustifed taking-away-of-the-fried-tofu, but every once in a blue moon, the older fox actually did act in this far more mature and worldly manner. Wisdom and experience do come with age they say, so perhaps.

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrumble~!

"... I'm even hungrier now... Can we get breakfast already?" Miyuki's cheeks flushed slightly as she held both hands over the growling tummy and averted her eyes, the serious moment completely ruined by her lack of yum-yum's in her tum-tum's.

...

...

... Meanwhile, inside Miyuki's mind...

That wretched woman, how dare she lay a finger on me? She'll rue the day she touched the forbidden fruit without permission! I'll curse her.. I'll curse her entire family...! They'll all suffer. SUFFER! That tramp and all her filthy kin will suffer for this, you just wait, shorty...

None of this was ever conveyed in any of Miyuki's expressions or voice.

TL;DR:

• Miyuki reassured Yumeiko that she was fine.
• Miyuki scolded Yumeiko for always blaming herself whenever something bad happens.
• Miyuki requested the two foxes go and get some actual god-damned breakfast after all the crazy.
• Miyuki's subconscious swore to curse Velvet, her family, her friends and any pets shey may have, for the injustice of feeding upon the Fox without the green-light.

I agree though, it's nice that we can all come together and discuss our view and how we interpret things, without someone flying off the rail and demanding that everyone see things "their" way. A very appreciated and fresh feeling for me personally. You all are very nice. :)

Back from work, and done catching up on OOC-schtuffs.

Time to write a long-winded and obnoxious reply.

Which I will prefix by saying:
I am not pointing any fingers or trying to feel like anyone is or should shoulder the burden or responsability for this situation. The things I say in this response are purely my own, 100% selfish opinion and I fully accept that nobody else may share it. I'm writing this disclaimer because in the past I've had people I roleplayed with who were, shall we say, less than cordial when I expressed my opinion. This is just a safety-measure for myself.

With that out of the way.

Xalt's Thoughts on Timelines:

I have always been a supporter of the chronologic post-order. If player A posts before Player B, then Player A's actions and events occur before anything else. I've always found that when people try to interject or interfere with posted events, such as in this example:

Julius stood at the edge of the skyscarper's roof. He looked around. Nobody there but him and the pigeons, as usual. He sighed and looked out over the city skyline. He took a deep breath, crouched, closed his eyes and then... Jumped.

But before Julius could jump, Sammy burst through the elevator doors that just slid open. He made a mad dash for the man, seeing his intent and ran with all he had, catching the man by throwing himself and latching onto his waist before the fool could do something stupid!

This, in my opinion, is bad form. The first player had already described and set up a scene and taken an action. However, the second player didn't want that to happen, or wanted to be a part of the event/scene, or just thought they'd be a protagonist, and forcefully altered things that had already happened by changing events to suit their post.

Therefore, as I see it, this is the chain of events that occured in this particular instance:

1. Yumeiko and Miyuki found a collapsed Velvet.
2. Yumeiko fled to the front desk.
3. Miyuki helped Velvet up.
4. Velvet nom'd Miyuki.
5. Iris came upon the scene of noms.
6. Iris went full Alpha, let out a big roar and lunged.
7a. Miyuki extracted herself from the scene.
7b. Max heard the beastial roar and hurried to investigate.
8. Miyuki arrives at front desk and delivers her whole spiel - all the lines.
9. Ghost-chan hurries to the scene.
9a. Gorgon hurries to the scene.
9b. Max arrives AT the scene, becuase he wasn't as close as the front desk and had to run there.
10. Velvet is being pummeled by laughing, snarling psycho-woof. Max throws steak.
11. Ghost arrives and tries to pull Velvet out of the grasp of Iris, who gets baned in the head with a slab of meat.
12. Iris goes to Max and eats her food. Gorgon arrives.

This is the flow of events in my mind. In my opinion, there's no way Max could've gotten from Achi's room to the stairwell after hearing Iris' roar but before she lunged and jumped on Velvet. The same goes for Suzy. By the time Miyuki left, iris was already half-way through her lunge, and taking into account Miyuki didn't run, but rather just walked, there's likewise no real way that Suzy and Glasses-Gorgon could get to Velvet and iris before the latter had already leapt onto and started beaing velvet up.

Mind you, this is not somehting I say just because I want Velvet to ger her come-uppins. This is just how I choose to view the event in a way that's logical and rational to me.

However, I'm fine with doing whatever ya'll wanna go with. If you need me to edit or change something in my post, that's totally cool with me. Just let me know. :)

I have a personal hope that one day she and Velvet can get along, even if she's inimical. I feel like she'd take "I was starving and my instincts grabbed hold and wouldn't let go" better than Miyuki. She's far too pure for this sinful earth, after all.

@Lemons I don't think getting along will be a problem. Not those two, at least. A certain someone with a -200 relationship rating toward Velvet might complicate matters, but they're all old enough here, they can be mature about it.

No personal arc oi personal growth for Miyuki. She's a several centuries old entity who has tried various paths and roads during her life. She's now reached the point where she's, essentially, that old granny down the street who's set in her ways and values, and ain't gonna change no matter what. Can't teach old dogs to sit and all that.

So if any of you were hoping for her to become more tolerable or amiable through the process of experiences and self-improvement.
