Fell, she/they, English, currently obsessed with DnD and other ttrpgs. I do art sometimes. I am the GM of two tabletop roleplays on this very site:

- Beyond Moonlight's Reach, a story of four young dragons growing up in a post-apocalyptic fantasy world, and using the Powered by the Apocalypse game Epyllion.

- Search for Tir na Og, a DnD 5e campaign set in the Planescape setting where a group of strangers from all across the multiverse come together to solve the mystery about what happened to the Celtic gods after they and their homelands were mysteriously spirited away.

The Mage Hand pulled out a paper wasp nest in a jar.

... does it actually have wasps in it?

... and when you say paper wasp nest, do you mean the nest itself is made of paper or the wasps are?
You got something!
Roll another d100 for me please.

You fished out a pouch. It has a notebook that shows what's written on it only when held upside down, and 2 Gold Pieces.

You can roll for your final attempt at disadvantage.

Ok.

Hilarious thought: I roll a nat 20 and end up fishing out Zybilna. Turns out she's been in this fish's stomach the whole time.

...

Nevermind, I got a 10.

You got something. Go ahead and roll a d100 for me please.

@XxFellsingxX 9 is a failure, so Jub got nothing.

Go ahead and roll at disadvantage for the second try.

15?
... I don't want to talk about the fact that if I wasn't at a disadvantage, I would have had a 24.

I really don't.
Jub the Peculiar

The rush of adrenaline and righteous anger that had been motivating Jub left him the moment the shopkeepers were dead, and newer, stronger feeling quickly took its place: dread.

He hadn't been thinking to clearly when Trinket had said that greed would be their undoing, thinking they was speaking generally as some last attempt to be ominous. But no. No, turns out this plane had some tricks up its sleeve to prevent this kind of thing from happening, and by breaking the Rule of Reciprocity they had attempted to invoke just a moment ago, they'd rendered the magical items they'd just purchased useless.

"... I hate it here," Jub said aloud, more to himself than anyone else.

However, before he could start to dwell on what a terrible mistake they'd just made, Brutrumukk happened upon another discovery: the herbs had been swallowed by a giant fish, a fish that Brutrumukk had managed to coax close to them using bits of the previously-magical pie he'd bought. Seems like the items they had purchased weren't so useless after all.

Still, Jub very quickly realised that the herbs were going to have been rendered useless at this point, either through the water or the fish's intestinal juices. Another wonderful quirk of the Rule of Reciprocity, it seemed. However, he could perhaps still retrieve something else from the fish's stomach, likely some other treasure it had managed to swallow.

Taking a deep breath, he pointed his wand at the fish, conjuring up a spectral hand that entered the fish's mouth.

Fish got a 12. Jub is successful.

Jub now has 3 chances to use Mage Hand to get the herbs out of the fish. This will be a Sleight of Hand or Athletics check.

However, all of these checks will be at disadvantage, because Jub cannot see the herbs, and the Mage Hand does not have that sense of touch that a normal hand would have. So Jub would know if the hand grabbed something, but would not be able to tell the difference between a vase full of herbs or an intestine.

I would also like another Arcana check from you at advantage please.

Got an 18 on the Arcana check.

Do I roll the Sleight of Hand checks all at once or just the first one now?
I'll need an Initiative roll from Jub to see if he can use Mage Hand in time before the fish finishes eating the pie if Jub wants to do this.

I got a 22. Jub is paying attention this time.
Jub the Peculiar

"Oh no, this isn't about greed," Jub said. He paused before glancing over at Brutrumukk. "Well, least not for me. I'm just really sick of this fey nonsense right now." He pointed at Trinket. "It's ridiculous. You're ridiculous, and I'm not taking anymore of it!" With that, he flung a fire bolt at Trinket.
